Kipp I am soo jealous of the keg, I really need to convince my wife of how great it would be to have one of our own. Until next time! Lane Lane, I am glad you enjoy the thread. Explain to your wife that on average, each beer will cost you about $0.33 vs. $0.70 for bottles. So the more you drink, the more you save. TommyV 11-15-07, 08:08 PM Sweet avatar deeann. What is your HT setup? deeann 11-15-07, 08:31 PM That's actually a really good question. I have a home setup, a studio setup and a public screening installation and need to inventory soon (since I've been swapping things around). The pic is at the microcinema/festival location. The screen is a 10ft 4:3 Da-Lite retractable matte white and I don't remember the gain right now (I just checked and it's 1.1). The current PJ is a Panasonic LB10VU but the screen pic is an overlay since the real shot washed out with my camera and it was taken with some of the auditorium lights on. TommyV 11-15-07, 09:26 PM I figured it was an overlay because of the crispness. Do you have any HD DVD or Blu Ray on your set up? My setup consists of a 50" Pioneer plasma. No front projector in my set up. Maybe one day when I upgrade my house ;) deeann 11-15-07, 09:36 PM We run mostly indie titles so no HDM (yet). At home we have an older Panasonic PDP (42" commercial model 4UY), a few DVD players (we mostly use a Yamaha S-1200, old, but still really good) and an old Voom STB (Moto DSR-550) for HD OTA. Our ceiling is hecka low (small house) and even the portable screen is too big, but whenever I need to quick check the PJs after cleaning (we also have a backup) I use a doubled up white sheet. Oh yeah- current drink is K & V (gotta keep this topical or Kipp's gonna bust on me ;) ) deeann 11-15-07, 10:08 PM I figured it was an overlay because of the crispness... Switching to lemon-lime soda. Actually, search on Cliffy's posts and check out "Screenshot war". There is some *really* crisp and great looking stuff in there. TommyV 11-15-07, 10:08 PM That is sweet. I enjoy indie films too but I love my HD DVD. I would love a FP but I would have to have a dedicated room for it. I am not as hardcore as some with the FP in the living room. I enjoy my living room setup immensely. http://www.htguide.com/forum/showpost.php4?p=362968&postcount=949 I am drinking that same I always do: Flor de Cona I liked your little chamomile concoction you mentioned earlier though I do not drink vodka. deeann 11-15-07, 11:18 PM The chamomile concoction is sweet! :D That's a nice looking setup! I noticed you edited it when I hit the post button. So what is your career? I assume something audio/visual since you have 3 projector setups deeann 11-15-07, 11:51 PM Home video. :) Only one FP setup running right now (the office/studio is CRT tube and flat panel based), but access a variety of display setups for testing. And as a side project the microcinema/film fest. TommyV 11-16-07, 12:05 AM Hmm sounds interesting :) Well I'm gonesky. Kipp and htomei22, I wonder if you guys had the same thing that hit the west coast a couple of months back. That one knocked me flat (I would actually fall off the bed). I'm glad both of you are over it (or almost over it, htomei). I'm drinking early today- some Sobe thing a friend brought over and vodka. It's been a stressful day. b curry 03-18-08, 03:42 AM Wired Magazine just did a little story on Nyquil. http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/15-11/st_nyquil Looks like it's not so much the alcohol content as it is the mixers. One powerful little "cocktail" it is! Just one of the ingredients from the recipe: Dextromethorphan HBr "A cough suppressant. Like PCP and ketamine, DXM is also an NMDA receptor antagonist, so the National Institute on Drug Abuse lists it as a "dissociative" drug. TommyV 03-23-08, 03:48 AM Hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend. :) The throne of my most enjoyed liquor has been taken from the long standing Flor de Caña Centenario 12 year Rum. Now that seat has been taken by Dewar's Special Reserve 12 year old Scotch Whiskey: A truly smooth and wonderfully flavored sipping liquor. The price is surprisingly reasonable as well. Tonight I am just drinking plain old Coca-Cola on the rocks. Just can't be beat sometimes. Art Sonneborn 03-23-08, 10:57 AM To say that I'm a creature of habit would be a gross understatement. I tried four different wines (all pinot noirs ,my favorite) and ended up going back to what has become my favorite. Holy cow, that stuff tastes great! Makes me think of when I was in high school working for Kroger's in the late 1960's. Young kid's and wine-o's would buy vanilla extract and Listerine for a buzz. We must call it brandy. I love Brandy, she's hot. Spanish Brandys are better than French Brandys anyday. I digress/de-evolve...happily. Just remember to heat the crystal! Right, as if Crystal needs heating! I love Crystal...she's hot. Is it weird to like Judas Priest and Patricia Barber equally well? Probably not as weird as putting the thought in a public forum. But maybe, I dunno. Thoughts? I like Ani DiFranco too. Strange, I think she really hates men. Why would I find that attractive? Not A Pretty Girl? Please, it's always the pretty people that say such things. She's hot and she knows it. Speaking of Priest, who else had no clue that Halford was gay until years later? Now people look at me like I am worshiping The Village People. Give me a break...he had a four octave range (incredible). He could have sang opera. Why metal? What is really scary is I have now spent an hour (off and on) editing this post. Boozin' and cruisin' indeed. Half a bottle gone. It's a shame, really. So well crafted and wasted on the likes of us non-French types. *sigh* porsche951 03-28-08, 11:57 AM "Now people look at me like I am worshiping The Village People." Let the young ones worry about whether or not the numbers are met. I KNOW we made a profit, we worked our asses off, we scored. The bean counters must now rectify it. Right, topic...the rest of the Mendoza tonight. Yep, I am listening to Judas Priest. Always do at these times of year. Work hard play hard. This is no time for Mozart, as much as I love him. This is the time for banging of the proverbial head. Profit rules. It's all about the (notsoalmighty) dollar. Do I sound cynical? I'm afraid I might sound cynical. I am at least comfortable in the knowledge that my beloved Company, that entity in which I have placed all of my loyalty and entrusted to the future of my family, has decided that it is expedient to save money by replacing all of the incandecent light bulbs in our facility with non-incandescent ones. Cool, that should solve all of the world's problems. Hi, how many jobs are we sending to Vietnam this year again? Do THEY use fluorescent bulbs? It's important that we know... Did I mention how hawt Brandy is? Deeann...ha. My lovely and most forgiving bride's name is **edited to keep not-so-forgiving wife from killing me** :) Too hard to make the L sound I guess. I have that problem too. Will/do yours have an issue with the D sound? Sneezy 03-29-08, 12:04 AM Global warming. That is SOOOO funny. I learn this recipe while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. There is a town an hour north of Cabo is called Todos Santos (All Saints) and there is where Hotel California is located... Anyways the bartender was telling me the story about the local margaritas, and he told me about the Eagles song and the part that says: " Pink Champagne on ice". Well that would be. 2 parts of Tequila Reposado 1 part of Cointreau (Orange liquor) 1 part of Damiana (local liquor made out of a bush, supposedly an afrodisiac) lots of lime juice..
