I also picked up a couple of bottles for the bar. The JD and CR are 3L bottles that are not sold in the USA; I just had to get them. The JD is so big that it comes with its own swivel stand and ought to last a couple of years. But I'm not going to crack open the JD until my son comes home from Afghanistan. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd201/javatime8/Cruise002.jpg sb1 06-08-11, 09:36 PM All I know is,once I start drinking, working on anything is just not happening.:o I'm just the opposite, Art. My wife hates it. Once I start drinking, I actually start wanting to do all kinds of things that I shouldn't be doing. Technical things that really require more mental capacity than I have even when I'm completely sober. Some people want to fight and get rowdy when they drink. I want to build something or take it apart and put it back together. I feel like starting the weekends early today! rich3fan 07-22-11, 09:34 PM I decided that this paycheck I would treat myself to a bourbon that I usually reserve for the wintertime holiday of Christmas: Wild Turkey "Rare Breed", which is a top shelf, "Barrel Proof" (101 proof) Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n286/rich3fan/My%20Hobbies/WildTurkeyRareBreed1.jpg But for the normal weekend partaking, I sip "the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby": http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n286/rich3fan/My%20Hobbies/woodford-reserve2.jpg rich3fan 07-22-11, 10:10 PM Two things that astonish me about this thread: It's age (I've never participated in a 9 year-old thread before), and the fact that the thread starter, Kipp Jones still posts. Mixing RB isn't a bad thing sometimes. Especially if you're about to operate heavy equipment. Waboman 07-26-11, 05:56 PM After a frustrating experience at Best Buy this afternoon. I feel right at home here, especially on Friday nights. (Where's the friggin' thumbsup smilie?! ) Tonite, I partake in another favorite bourbon: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n286/rich3fan/My%20Hobbies/RussellsReserve.jpg What I love about my on-the-way-home liquor store is that they always seem to have every bourbon that I like on sale. It's karma, correct? :D sb1 07-29-11, 08:15 PM ^ I haven't tried that one, Rich. I used to drink bourbon almost exclusively but am currently going through a rum phase. Rum is also much easier on you when it comes to hangovers than bourbon is. I have a liquor store that is about a block away from my house. It was meant to be. I'm REALLY starting to NOT like Texas summers! The problem is, liquor stores are few and far between so it's about a 45 minute drive if I don't hit the one on my way home from work. Well the regular old Bushmills seemed to survive the heat, and I finished it up yesterday (Black Bush was pricey so I passed on it). Now you guys have me thinking about Rum so I think I'll try a bottle of Appleton Estate for the first time, this weekend. Strange thing is I seem to have lost my taste for coke in anything. It's been many many years since mixing rum or bourbon with it. Sprite/7up seems to be the mixer of choice these days but sometimes that's too sweet for me. Maybe some Ginger Ale this time, but I'll certainly first try the AE rum straight up/on the rocks. I'll report back my findings in due course. ;) sb1 08-12-11, 01:06 PM ^ I'm the same way with coke now. My drink of choice the last few times has been Bailey's (caramel flavor) mixed with the Appleton rum on crushed ice. Hmm, I'm guessing some kind of fancy screwdriver. Congrats on getting hitched... now run! Waboman 11-11-11, 09:08 PM We're having a sleepover tonight. It's like herding a bunch of cats. Madness! I needs the whiskey up in me. McKenna is my hero. Might just have to get Steve McKenna'd.:D rich3fan 11-11-11, 10:09 PM Hmm, I'm guessing some kind of fancy screwdriver. Congrats on getting hitched... now run! "Wet Dream" :D. Found it while I was looking for the recipe for a Whiskey Sour. Needed to know if it needs to be shaken or stirred. No no. It wasn't I who got married, although, I did ask the hot little number who did the lap dance on me if she'd marry me, but she told me that "having a husband is like being married to a paraplegic", so I took that as a no! rich3fan 11-11-11, 10:11 PM You guys all join AA or what? Seems to me like we should be asking you that question young sb1. ;) Kipp Jones 11-13-11, 02:45 PM Vodka lemonade today. Its 68 degrees here in mid November! rich3fan 11-13-11, 03:22 PM 81 degrees here in Dallas Kipp. Had the windows open this morning but it heated up in the house so the air conditioner's running now. ;) Earlier watched the Cowboys beat up on Buffalo (no, not a Cowboys fan, I'm originally from South Jersey, waiting to see how the Eagles did  ) and now watching the G'ints vs San Fran. And enjoying yes, the usual, some bourbon & Sprites. Jive Turkey 11-13-11, 07:28 PM 8-1 Niners! I can't tell you how good it feels for the home team to be a winner again! What a great knockdown in the Red Zone to seal the deal. :D rich3fan 11-13-11, 07:38 PM NFC East SUCKS! Just plain ol' sucks! Eagles = "Dream Team"? Huh? I'd say the Niners & Packers are on a collision course, with a date at the NFC championship game. sb1 11-15-11, 10:47 AM Seems to me like we should be asking you that question young sb1. ;)No kidding. I've been off my game lately. I'm actually between drinks right now. Gotta find something new. Bourbon and rum have gotten old. rich3fan 11-15-11, 12:29 PM No kidding. I've been off my game lately. I'm actually between drinks right now. Gotta find something new. Bourbon and rum have gotten old. I agree with that 1000%. I keep walking into the liquor store saying to myself, alright, now it's time for something completely different, but I still end up walking out with a bottle of bourbon. I saw a commercial on TV recently about Southern Comfort with Tabasco in it. Hmmm... My memories of SC from my youth were not good. I remember this stuff as being very sweet, like sickeningly sweet, and I think on more than one occasion causing my stomach to revolt. Maybe not. :( One thing I like about this time of year is that the gift sets, which more often than not include glasses in a nice storage box start showing up in stores. I've filled a shelf in my cabinet with the glasses and shot glasses from these sets. The booze doesn't seem to last too long though. ;) markek 11-15-11, 09:55 PM Vodka lemonade today. Its 68 degrees here in mid November! Me likey Vodka and lemonade. Best with Three Olives Berry Vodka. Sundays watching the Browns calls for lots of alcohol!! rich3fan 11-17-11, 07:31 PM So, for the weekend I'm going to experiment a bit. I picked up a bottle of this: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n286/rich3fan/My%20Hobbies/jameson_whiskey.jpg and some of this: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n286/rich3fan/My%20Hobbies/boylangingerale.jpg which is made with pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup, and see if the reason I'm not enjoying mixers these days is because of the corn syrup component. My grocery store carries a range of Boylan sodas, including "Cane Cola", so maybe I'll pick that up next. Wish me luck! ;) sb1 11-18-11, 07:05 AM ^ Post your results, Rich. I'm still looking for something new. rich3fan 11-18-11, 09:33 AM Mixing with ginger ale was just... okay. Never was a big fan of it anyway, but I didn't want the caffeine in my system last night before going to bed. And really, Irish whiskey isn't high on my list of favs either, but I'll continue on with some Cane Cola and whiskey over the weekend. I'm off all next week and will be making a run to the liquor store in Addison, where the prices for hard stuff are lower. I think I'll be putting some Cognac on my list for my Thanksgiving Day treat. I'm hoping to come across a Hennessy gift set with some nice snifters to add to my collection. Waboman 11-18-11, 11:32 PM One thing I like about this time of year is that the gift sets, which more often than not include glasses in a nice storage box start showing up in stores. I've filled a shelf in my cabinet with the glasses and shot glasses from these sets. The booze doesn't seem to last too long though. ;) I like the gift sets too. I always try and find some cool ones. Was at the liquor store tonight and saw that Hornitos was giving away the devils horn shot glass. Pretty cool. But I'm stocked up on tequila for the time being. Now back to my Bacardi/diet. Cheers. Kipp Jones 11-19-11, 03:52 PM Just picked up a spare keg (yes I have a spare refrigerator in my garage to hold a spare keg in case the keg in the kegerator runs dry :p:p:p) and a bottle of Yellow Tail Cab, cheap but a good wine for the price. I like the SE Austrailian wines. Having a Monster Vodka now and getting ready to play MW3 on PS3 for the first time. My wife surprised me with it last night. sb1 11-19-11, 05:09 PM I'm still hitting the rum tonight. But I did finally light up the pipe for the first time in a while. I stick with cigars when it's warm out, but fire the pipe up in the chilly months. Kipp Jones 11-19-11, 10:30 PM Just finished in the hot tub. It is almost too warm outside (55).
