Just got back this afternoon from a Memorial Day cruise and enjoying a nice single malt scotch on the rocks. I also picked up a couple of bottles for the bar. The JD and CR are 3L bottles that are not sold in the USA; I just had to get them. The JD is so big that it comes with its own swivel stand and ought to last a couple of years. But I'm not going to crack open the JD until my son comes home from Afghanistan.

I'm just the opposite, Art. My wife hates it. Once I start drinking, I actually start wanting to do all kinds of things that I shouldn't be doing. Technical things that really require more mental capacity than I have even when I'm completely sober.

Some people want to fight and get rowdy when they drink. I want to build something or take it apart and put it back together. It just never seems to turn out to be a good experience for me or those around me.:o

Believe it or not, I'm drinking again.

I'm saddened by our thread's activity.

I think it is due to many of us being outside boozen. I am getting ready to hit the pool, get out the blender and make up some cold concoction. Been working alot too. This is our busy season.

As I said before, Rare Breed is quick to put someone on their ass, without them realizing they've had that much because it's so good and smooth. Mixing RB isn't a bad thing sometimes. Especially if you're about to operate heavy equipment.

After a frustrating experience at Best Buy this afternoon. I figured it has to be 5 o'clock somewhere. Then I looked at my watch and wouldn't ya know, it's 5 o'clock right here. Gin & tonic time.

The movie was ok. I give it a solid C, or 2/4 stars. It tried to take itself a little too seriously and kind of got bogged down in the middle. The aliens were pretty bad ass though.

BUT, I won't be going home right away, so it'll be sitting in my car, in Dallas, in +100 degree heat, for probably 6 hours or more. Am I running the risk of ruining it (or any spirit exposed to extreme heat) due to the heat? That would make me very sad. :(

I would avoid having this bake in your car for 6 hours. If it's 100° outside, think what the internal temp of you car will be. That's just bad juju for a quality spirit.

Well the regular old Bushmills seemed to survive the heat, and I finished it up yesterday (Black Bush was pricey so I passed on it). Now you guys have me thinking about Rum so I think I'll try a bottle of Appleton Estate for the first time, this weekend. Strange thing is I seem to have lost my taste for coke in anything. It's been many many years since mixing rum or bourbon with it. Sprite/7up seems to be the mixer of choice these days but sometimes that's too sweet for me. Maybe some Ginger Ale this time, but I'll certainly first try the AE rum straight up/on the rocks. I'll report back my findings in due course. ;)

I read Mr. Potts' review of "The Dude's" flick, and even though it's one of my all-time favorite Jeff Bridges movies, it was good to read his ratings regarding the Blu-ray PQ and AQ, so it's in my Amazon cart for purchase. Too bad I have to wait 'til Friday (payday) to purchase it, so I think I'll rent it for the weekend.

As it turns out the liquor store had the big bottles of Stolly's on sale... check... smaller bottle of Kahlua on sale... check, but I only have enough 1/2 & 1/2 for tomorrow morning's coffee (which I predict I'm gonna need), so tonight I'm using some Baileys Irish cream instead. :D I'm rewarding myself as I took my TV apart today and cleaned the Light Engine lenses. Wow. What a let-down. Turns out it wasn't 2 hours as advertised, but instead only 50 minutes. Set list was "Fat Old Sun", "One of These Days" and "Echoes".

Truth is, the only reason I still subscribe to XM is because 4 of the DJ's I grew up with in the 70's and 80's are there, and Michael Tearson especially. He was the main man on WMMR 93.3 FM in Phllly, and when I hear him now on XM radio it really takes me back to the great, early days when Rock-n-Roll was planting its roots. MAN if I could just have 35 years of my life back.

but Summer is over here and it's time to prepare for Winter Hibernation in the man-cave.
Finally got myself a bar fridge so I dont have to run upstairs to the kitchen for re-fills/ice, it even came with a Bonus matching microwave for snacks/pizza etc.

I keep walking into the liquor store saying to myself, alright, now it's time for something completely different, but I still end up walking out with a bottle of bourbon. :rolleyes: I saw a commercial on TV recently about Southern Comfort with Tabasco in it. Hmmm... My memories of SC from my youth were not good. I remember this stuff as being very sweet, like sickeningly sweet, and I think on more than one occasion causing my stomach to revolt. which is made with pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup, and see if the reason I'm not enjoying mixers these days is because of the corn syrup component. My grocery store carries a range of Boylan sodas, including "Cane Cola", so maybe I'll pick that up next. Wish me luck! ;)

Just picked up a spare keg (yes I have a spare refrigerator in my garage to hold a spare keg in case the keg in the kegerator runs dry :p:p:p) and a bottle of Yellow Tail Cab, cheap but a good wine for the price. I like the SE Austrailian wines. Having a Monster Vodka now and getting ready to play MW3 on PS3 for the first time. My wife surprised me with it last night.

I'm still hitting the rum tonight. But I did finally light up the pipe for the first time in a while. I stick with cigars when it's warm out, but fire the pipe up in the chilly months.

Of course! I in fact make my own deep dish pizzas, as well as thin crust pizzas. It's a hobby of mine I even have a special high temp outdoor oven for making pizzas. But wine of any type, no way, I'm a beer kinda guy.

Went to my local Homebrew store to get Two more taps to make it a three tap fridge. It fits my co2, two five gallon cornice kegs and likely a small 5l mini keg.

Idea being two ales/lagers and one stout/porter (on nitro) or two beers and one soda for the kids.

Got me this sugar skull. It's the traditional representation of Día de los Muertos, Day of the Dead. Of course this sugar skull is filled with tequila.;) 100% de agave. Nectar of the Gods. Salud.

I'm old enough to have developed a few liquor hobbies, went through the high end scotch and tequila phase. Nothing like finding out the wife made a margarita (2batches) with your $90 bottle of tequila,granted it was a gift, but still......

Now I'm homebrewing....too bad I finished the bar before I got into this hobby or I'd do something different with serving it up.
