My HD tuner card stop picking up all my qam stations from Comcast Garden State. Analog is working. Is anyone else having this problem?

HDNet was added in N.E. Philly today on channel 897.

Not here in Wilmington.

I have a question. I was screwing around with OTA in Rittenhouse Sq. Philadelphia and was getting moderate reception. I have Comcast internet. I decided to plug my TV into the cable jack and hit program on my LG tv. The TV found like 100 stations. I can now get all the major Networks and their LP stations with zero interference on what appears to be some sort of cable signal. On top of that i get some full HD cable channels (History HD and Syfy) that show up in weird places. Certain stations make my TV display a warning that says the station is "Scrambled".

1. Why does this work? Are their certain regulations or agreements (FCC or otherwise) that require Comcast to carry certain stations unscrambled?

2. Is their a workaround?

2. Is their a workaround? If you have internet service, you most likely have limited basic TV service on your line as well. All the broadcast networks, public access, govt/educational channels, etc should be sent in the clear. Most everything else is encrypted (ie, the "scrambled" message) and requires a cable box or cablecard. There's no guarantee those non-basic networks like History and Syfy will stay unencrypted.

There is no workaround to getting the encrypted channels. You need to pay for them, and there is no way to view them without a box or a card, which are only available through Comcast.

Just got my bill and the comcast flyer ad said they are adding all these "New" HD channels up in the 800+ level. I already get most of the same channels in the 200+ channel. What's up with all the duplicate channels?
Ex. CNN HD = 221 and now also on 836

We have the same here. The duplicates are "mirrored" in the 800s but there are many new HD channels in the 800s that are not in the 200s. This is Comcast's attempt to eventually get their channels mapped nationally the same I believe.

It can be confusing right now though. When setting up series recordings on channels in the 800s with duplicates in the 200s, I've noticed my DVR actually records from the 200s even though I've set it up to record the 800s channel.

I sent a live chat/PM to Comcast last night after being transferred to 3 different agents that could answer my question on why the dupes in channels. That's what they basically said Carl...they are upgrading and re-mapping. I did notice a few new channels, but yeah, it's confusing.

Hello all. I discovered yesterday that Comcast-Malvern has shuffled the QAM channels around again. So far I can't tune in anything but one CBS channel with my Philips DVD recorder. What have they done now?!!

Tried to get a newer DCX3400 this spring when I was in Lower Bucks, they never had any. Tried again when I moved to King of Prussia area, they didn't have any when I was in the office, and claim it's random when they get them included with shipments. It seems to be dumb luck that you get one if you walk into the office. Forget about calling to ask, the number to the phone next to the person behind the bulletproof glass is harder to get than the phone at the President's desk in the Oval Office. Forget about going in to check on a Saturday without waiting in a huge line.

Maybe others have had good luck, but it seems to be pretty hard to get one of the new DCX3400 boxes. However most report they have 320GB drives(versus 250GB, still an improvement over 160GB).

How did this exchange work? You went in & asked for one, took it home, plugged it in, then returned with your old one? Or do you need the old one in hand to get the exchange? As I understand it, the new one has a new remote? Just thinking about re-programming the Harmony.

Carl-

I simply took my old box to the office, and they took it back, gave me the new one, updated my account in the computer, I signed the reciept saying I returned box with S/N: xxxxxxxxx and recieved box with S/N: xxxxxxxxx. Very easy. You might want to ask if they have any of the newer DVRs in stock. Tell them the new ones are black, they will understand that(if you start asking for a DCX3400m or one with the 500GB drive odds are they won't understand). I tried to activate box on digitalnow.comcast.com (The new DVR showed up on the list of devices) but got impatient after 10 minutes and just called, and they took care of it. It was sooo obvious the gal was reading a script it was painful to listen to her.

You could go get another one and bring the older one back in a couple days(say, to finish watching your shows), and you would just have a day or two's charges of the 2nd DVR(which would only amount to $1 or so, but I bet they screw something up). It's easier for me to make 1 trip to the office and be done.

The DCX boxes do have a new remote(platnium/dark gray). As I understand, those new remotes do not work with the older DCT boxes, but the old remotes/IR codes do work with the newer DCX boxes. So in your case you should not have to reprogram your Harmony remote(s), but don't quote me on that.

Yes, you should not have to re-program your Harmony, as the old remote codes will work the new DCX.

Well bad news I went to the Comcast office here in Northeast Philly and they said they can not hand out the DCX3400m. Instead I need to have a installer come out to hook it up. And they also said I would have to pay $28 bucks! :(.

I just want to use the DCX3400m as a standalone DVR. An do not want to use it as a AnyRoom device. They also said it would be $3 extra per month.

I am really confused by this.

Must be a local office/inventory issue. If they have plenty of 3400M's then I guess they are handing them out as regular DVRs. If they don't they must be keeping them only for multiroom DVR customers at this point. At some point I would venture a guess they'll be able to give them out to regular DVR customers.

I always got ancient DCT3416's and never even had a DCH box(which were circa 2007 I think), so I paid my dues over the years only using older hardware;)

You could try another office, but I'm guessing when they see your service address is in NE Philly they won't give it to you(like if you drove all the way out to Norristown).

Well I just called comcast to set up an appointment. And they are bringing the 3400M. Monthly fee for the DVR's stay the same but I will have to pay $16 install fee.

They said the only way to get the 3400M is to have an installer come out and set it up. I was hoping they could just ship me it and install it myself and avoid the install fee.

O well its only $16 and at least I will have my 500GB DVR :)

I don't even care about the "Anyroom DVR" feature as I just want it for the 500GB hard drive.

Thank you for the responses on the 3400. While out & about yesterday I stopped by my local Comcast office & they knew exactly what I was asking about but alas, none were in stock. They told me that the warehouse sent them whatever supply they needed & the last shipment they recieved was the 3416. They then told me to check back periodically to see if they had the unit in stock. I asked if there was a number I could call to check or a particular day they recieved a new supply & all I got was "no", you have to come in and check. Sigh. Customer service @ it's best I suppose. So I guess I'll stop by from time to time to "check in".

So convienient, isn't it? They have phones right next to the workers behind the glass at the service centers, they will never give that phone number out(although to be fair it might not be connected to an outside line, only can be dialed/transferred to via internal Comcast phone network).

Do your best to avoid a Saturday, it would suck to have to wait in line only to find out they don't have any.

So I have my new Mitsubishi 65" DLP hooked up to the newer Comcast HDMI boxes (they just replaced old) and have been having a bunch of problems just like with the old box.

1. When watching sports or movies where there are fast paced scenes or with lots of scene cuts, I get pixels or big blocks that you can see all over the screen like the feed is lagging or something. It's extremely annoying and definitely is noticeable. Has anyone ever had this problem with Comcast and how did they fix it?

2. When watching sports such as baseball, if you get close to the screen it looks like fuzzy outlines around the people sometimes. Anyone experience this?

The tech came out 3 weeks back, switched out the box and said everything was working however its still there.

Does your TV have the "Sharp Edge" feature? If so, make sure that is off. That will eliminate the outline you see.

I stopped by the local Comcast office yesterday (2nd. time) & they had plenty of brand spanking new DCX 3400s. The one they gave me was indeed a 500g drive. I had read the latest software had disabled native but in fact it worked fine. A question though, what should I use for SD? I've disabled 480i yet the image (and menu) on SD channels is awful & stretched at 480p.

I find this unit to be faster than my old 3416 in channel change, etc. The older unit would seem to hang a bit before executing a command, this one doesn't (yet). Anyway, the upgrade was worth the effort it took to get it.

Just a guess, but with a larger TV you will see pixelating during fast motion easier. TVs that big are designed to be viewed from several feet away so if you stand a foot or two away, it will not look very clear. Not sure anything is wrong with your box.

Still no HDNET in Mont co. I was in Upstate NY visiting family this past weekend and Time Warner up there has added a bunch of new HD channels, pushing their total to around 115. Cooking, DIY, BBC America, Nat Geo Wild, Hub, GoalLine(new ESPN channel), Fox Soccer Plus, Outdoor Network are the newest ones. They went SDV about 2 years ago and can add HD channels at will. They also had a nice pamplet in the mail with the bill clearly explaining their policy for "Digital channel encryption" and it spelled out how SD/HD local channels are not encrypted per policy and can be tuned with a QAM tuner. It also talked about what SDV is, how they use it, how you can get a tuning adapter, how/what you get with CableCARD VS box, etc. It would be really nice if Comcast put that information in a concise pamplet like this and made it readily available.

Has anyone had success accessing the stored content on the DCX3400M via FireWire?

Also, FWIW, I've got it connected via HDMI to my Denon receiver with the following USER SETTINGS:

TV Type: 16:9
HDMI/YPbPr OUTPUT: NATIVE
MY TV SUPPORTS THE FOLLOWING FORMATS: 1080p24m, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i
VIDEO SHARPNESS: 3
ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS:
HDMI/DVI MODE: HDMI
COLOR SPACE: YCC 4:4:4
AUDIO OUTPUT: PASS THROUGH

How do these look? I got the box and a new TV the same day so I have yet to really tweak the picture.

Look at the manufactorers label on the label on the bottom of the DVR, next to where it says "Model: DCX 3400"(or something like this) there are a couple numbers, one is either 250, 320, or 500. That indicates how big the hard drive is.

Or you can go to the diagnostic screen(s) and verify it there as well.

Comcast offices can only serve customers within their 'Corp.', which consists of their system and at least one other system.

For instance, Willow Grove system and Lower Merion system make up a Corp. IIRC, the bill only list the system's local office. However, the latest price card lists both systems. Over the years, both written and verbal info. have mentioned WG and LM as being together.

Hi all,

I'm wondering if someone can answer a basic HDTV question for me.... We currently have an old CRT tv, and are using Comcast basic cable. We would like to upgrade to a new flat panel HDTV. If we get an HDTV with a QAM tuner, will it be capable of picking up local HD stations over basic cable? We're really not interested in upgrading to digital cable service at this time, as we can stream a lot of additional content via netflix, playon, etc., but it seems a shame to have a nice new HDTV and not be able to see HD broadcasts. FiOS is not availabe in our area yet.

You forgot WPHL 17.1, home of the Fightin' Phils.:)
CW should be on 57.1. There are also some other local broadcast channels, for those that don't know.

BTW, one shouldn't count on these channels being mapped to their <usual channel #>.1
On our system, they only map a few of them anymore, it keeps getting worse.:(
We have to rescan every so often, and then find them manually on their real QAM channel frequency.
Again, for those just learning, don't use Comcast cable box channel numbers for your TV's QAM tuner, as they don't correspond.

Interesting channel numbers. I guess Comcast has a way to go to get to a standardized channel lineup when Philly channels aren't there yet (or is it the rest of us)? Please post again tomorrow if indeed they show up. Good additions though!

Wow, is this/have they gone to SDV or something with that lineup? First time I've seen or heard of 4 digit channel numbers in an area with Moto equipment, in the Freedom region.

RE: Garden State Cable - Cherry Hill Digital.

I got a mailing a few weeks ago that said they were going all digital and you had to get converter boxes, but not too clear about how it would affect QAM tuners.

I've got a cable card in my TV, but my PC DVR is QAM, which I use for recording the OTA channels.

Does anybody know if they are going to encrypt the OTA channels? I'm sure they wouldn't mind having me pay $$$ to rent their DVR. Calling their customer service number is usually waste of time.

Carl Jones

Here at least, when we went digital (WOM), we maintained the locals on QAM but little else. There ARE others but I haven't spent any time looking. The switch knocked out most of the analog channels I was getting (like ESPN) so I had to get their little non-HD box for a small TV I have on my porch so I could watch sports.

Anyway, your locals via QAM should be OK for a while.

Got the annual price hike letter, pretty bad this year, about 5% raise in prices.

I'm on month 7 of my 6 month promo and was pleased to see it's not quite at the full rate yet for digi preferred, just like how the triple play packages have less of a discount for the 2nd year or whatever. Instead of $40/mo it's now $60/mo, but that sure beats the new price which is now north of $80 I think it was?

Digital economy dropped to $30/mo just like in Philadelphia. HSI went up $1 to 45.95. What is with that, it was a 42.95 since I moved to the area in 2004, now it's going up every year as well! I didn't see a change in the DVR service, it wasn't listed so I'm guessing it didn't change from the 15.95.

I found buried in the letter a note about CBS College Sports(CSTV) going to digital preferred around Feb 1st. Most other areas/cities already did this last year or before.

Digital Economy is mostly just channels 2-100 without sports channels, etc. But can anyone tell me if you get On Demand? Can you get HD? Can you order a DVR? Is HD and DVR the same cost as other packages?

I would really like it if they could replace the useless hdppv channel (785) with game hd. I'd even deal with them splitting time and turning it back on when there really was an event.

There is a certain irony that we first complain about not having enough HD channels, and then when we get more we complain that they're useless. That applies to SD channels as well, though. Not that I disagree.. it's just kinda funny.
Personally I'm not a fan of the fact that they interwove "useless" HD channel in around all the local ones in the 800-810'ish range. If they are ordering the 800 range by channel type/theme then why is QVCHD and HSNHD anywhere near Fox/CBS/NBC? At a minimum all the home shopping channels should be down by TLC, E, and STYLE channels to match their target audience:D.

Don't mean to cross-post but thought someone here might know:
Does anyone know what model DVR they are currently distributing for the Comcast of Garden State area? I've had an SA8300HDC for many years and I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to turn it in for an upgrade. I think they use Cisco RNG200's now? Even those look like they're several years old. Is there anything newer?

One advantage would be HDMI, which isn't on my 8300, but that by itself isn't enough of a benefit to warrant swapping (and rewiring) it out of my entertainment center.

Anyway, is the RNG200 my only option?

Just a guess, but here in KoP(Lower Bucks as well), HSN and QVC are very low channels, HSN is cable ch 5 and QVC is cable ch 10, so perhaps that is why they are also low on the 800 block, along with the major networks?

I am setting up a Silicon Dust HD HomeRun on a Vista Ultimate PC. I am having issues with the guide in Windows Media Center, which comes from zap2it.com. I used the HD HomeRun config tool and tried to use the set lineupid option. But whenever I run the guide setup in Media Center, it seems to default to the Digital Terrestial lineup, which I assume is the OTA lineup. I can't figure out how to get it to look at the cable lineup, since there are clearQAM channels that are not OTA.

My AveryMedia card is still getting local QAM and a few cable only channels. Many of the analog channels are gone. A rescanning of the digital tuner card failed. My Media Center Guide imploded and was rendered useless. It will have to be completely reprogrammed, but not certain how unless I invest hours. We were hood-winked with the switch, but what did you expect from an unregulated monopoly? Need I say any more, without getting political.

If the tuner is set up in Windows(Win 7 compadible driver installed) then WMC should see it. Be sure to stop the automatic setup it tries to do and tell it that you want to complete setup manually. From there it lets you select your source(cable, antenna or satellite), country, zip code, etc. You will have to let it scan for channels and it should find your local HDs.

So you were happy with the what, 30 or so HD channels that Comcast of Garden State had? If you want the HD channels that the rest of the country has(and pays nearly the same price as you do), then removal of the analog channels was neccesary. That's a limitation of your local cable plant/system(albeit a crappy one, Garden State system was probably the worst area in SE PA/South Jersey), not politics.

I think you mean the DCX3400? Yes they started popping up last year. I know NE Philly has them. I've got one over in Montgomery county/KoP. If they have enough of them, they will distribute the DCX3400m boxes(320GB hard drives) that are multi room capable, to regular DVR subs.

It wasn't CSN, it was CN8. You saw the Flyers live tonight because something else was on CSN at that time.

I downgraded to limited basic a couple of months ago and it's really not as bad as you would think. CN8 HD shows a replay at 10:30 or 11pm of whatever live event was shown on CSN HD that day. They also replay it a second time at 6am the next morning. I can't remember the last time I watched a Phillies Sixers or Flyers game live from start to finish in real time on CSN HD. I almost always wound up recording it and scanning through it later. So having to wait until 10:30 isn't a deal breaker for me.

I downgraded to limited basic right after the Super Bowl with the intention of going back to one of the digital tiers when baseball season started up again. That's not happening now. Between the replays on CN8 HD, the OTA Phillies games on Channel 17 and the HD streams of MLB on ESPN3.com, I have more than enough MLB content to keep me happy.

The real test for me is going to be the NFL, if they even play this year. It will be tough to find a replacement for the Red Zone on Sundays, the Thursday night games on NFL Network or the Eagles Postgame Live on CSN.

The Sixers. A rare 3 sport night in Philly. Flyers, Sixers and Phillies (on channel 17).

I've contemplated dropping to limited basic and filling in the non-OTA stuff with Amazon purchases. I'm not even a Philly fan. Oddly, one of the few things keeping me with higher tier service is the 18 Phillies-Mets games a year, which I can't get through MLB.tv. Though, as you mention, some of those are on 17 or 29 and some are on ESPN3 (I think there is one Phillies-Mets game on a Sunday night this year). And others, like the next two, I go see live.

I would also miss the HBO and Showtime original series. I could watch them on Netflix, but that's years later.

I would need Comcast to let me keep my three CableCARDs. I can live without Digital Preferred, but you'll pry my TiVoHDs from my cold dead hands.

I doubt it is gone. More likely they just moved it to a non-traditional physical QAM channel. The traditional QAM channels that Fox uses in the Philly market are 29.1 for Fox HD and 29.5 for Fox SD. Your local Comcast franchise is probably still sending the SD signal on 29.5, but for some reason decided to move Fox HD to something other than 29.1. My franchise does this with the CW. It should be 57.1 for HD and 57.5 for SD, but my CW HD is located at 116.1 while the SD stayed at 57.5.

You are going to have to rescan your channels on your TV and carefully check every single channel that it lists until you find Fox HD.

It could be that Comcast moved it to a channel outside of the range of your TV's QAM tuner. My franchise has the 2 WYBE subchannels located in the upper 120's. My PC tuner finds them but my 5 year old Sony TV and my Moxi don't go up that high. They both stop at around 124.

If you have an HD box you can find what frequency it's on by simply tuning to FOX HD, then turn off the box, go into diagnostics(Press OK/SELECT within a couple seconds of powering off the box) and look at current channel status, I think it's option 3 or 4. One of the lines on the screen will tell you the physical frequency it's on.

I didn't know of any areas that pushed past ch 120, I thought most if not all of this region was 750mhz gear, maybe they are testing higher frequencies? Upper 120s is pushing into 800mhz+. I know both Lower Bucks(Bensalem) and Mont Co(KoP) use analog Weatherscan local on ch 120 as sort of a "test" to see the PQ that much above 750mhz. It always looks great.

The channel description field (c81.1, c51.5 etc) should now be selected. Press the center OK button to bring up the guide listings. Scroll through the list until you find the corresponding channel listing and press OK again. Continue to your next missing channel and repeat. When you are finished press Save.

Can someone tell me why KXXV-HD cuts thier power after Midnight? I have seen this happen 2 nights in a row and it is very frustrating. I am just north of Austin, TX no other OTA staitons are cutting thier power. I am a MBE with the SCTE and while i generally understand this sort of thing, This Instance makes no sense!

I live in Berks county PA and have the Xfinity service. Overall the service has been good since I started it last July. Within the last month I noticed that channel 10, WCAU, quality has declined considerably. I think it might be because of the 2 subchannels they added that split the signal and adversely affect the HD. Does anyone else notice this? It really shows up on the NBC nightly news when they switch from one scene to another and there is slight pixilation. In our area the channel 10 signal must originate from an antenna rather than a direct line. Does WCAU use a direct line in other areas for COMCAST?

Thanks for the feedback.

29.5 is the only FOX we get now. 29.1 was what it use to get...I live in NE Philly.

I've been rescanning on STD every few weeks since this happened two-three months ago. I'll try to take a closer look.

Never lost it here in Mont co/KoP area. It's on Ch 106 for us.

I don't know... I've seen a lot of SA GAINMAKER(tm) amplifiers and line extenders in Montgomery County. Look up GAINMAKER and they are all 860 MHz (blue label) or 1 GHz (red label).

Go a little west into Berks County and you'll see SA SYSTEM II and III gear. Much different looking housings. They are 750 MHz (pushing to 771).

I think most of the area is 860 in Montgomery county, but the OTN or hub only has enough bandwidth for 780 - 800 MHz. Your only as good as your weakest link.

Hey guys I am a complete newbie about all this stuff. I live in the greater ne Philly I have my comcast line plugged directly in the back of my plasma. I have a qam tuner. And I've auto programed and all I find is something like channel 13 it's just people exercising. No sound the rest all are black. Also that channel is just analog not digital. What am I doing wrong here? I am pretty sure its connected right that's why I get that one channel. The wire runs directly from outside to the tv no splitters it's direct to the comcast junction

Thanks for all the help.

A couple of things to check. First, double check the back of your plasma and make sure you have the right connector. Most newer TV's have more than one. If you have more than one, make sure you are not using the one labeled Antenna. The correct one is usually marked something like Cable or RF Input. Second, go into your Plasma settings and check your Signal Type. It sounds like you might have it set to Air/Antenna. You don't want it set to that. You want Cable. Good luck.

Thanks. Maybe I am just plugged into a bad port on the terminal in the back of the duplex I am sure that the box has data going to it as upstairs has comcast and is also plugged into that box. And I am sure it's the right line also as I had a antenna on it outside previously.

Checked all of that previously. And again after you mentioned it all. I only have one connection in the back and it's labeled antenna and cable. And I've tried programming on both cable and antenna settings. I checked again the channel I get is channel 14 it has no audio. Also channel 118 has 50 sub channels all which are blank. The plasma is a th-42px75u

Well after 2 years with FIOS I'm back on Comcast. Uh, Xfinity. It'll save me about $700 the first year and $400 the second year. And that's after upgrading 2 STBs. I don't like changing back and forth but I couldn't ignore the cost difference.

The only problem I'm having, and I feel fortunate in this regard, is I can't get my Slingbox working. It was working fine on FIOS. Now I get disconnected from the Slingbox while configuring it. This happens on my LAN; nevermind when trying to catch an afternoon Phillies game at work. So either my Slingbox failed while changing services (quite a coincidink but possible). Or there is an incompatibility with my new service provider. I would guess having to do with the Comcast provided Netgear WNR1000v2-VC router.

Does anyone have any success or failure stories with Slingbox and Comcast?

Thx,
Frank

Resolution: The problem turned out to be a failing AC adapter. I replaced the Slingboxes AC adapter and things worked fine. So it was a coincidink after all.

i have two slingboxes, one at home (Comcast) and one at my parent's in MI (also Comcast). both work great.

with a new router, you most likely have to set up a port for the slingbox on the router. directions for how to do this are found somewhere in the Slingplayer "Help"

good luck

EDIT: just remembered that the port setup is for internet viewing... anyway, for your issue, try hooking slingbox directly into cable modem and see if you can connect remotely... that'll tell you whether or not its the router.

Has anyone experienced problems with their Moto DVR lately?

This past week I've had several recorded shows freeze up after just a few minutes of playback & they would not play beyond that point. One show I deleted then recorded a later showing & still experienced the freeze up after a few minutes of play. Another of these was re-recorded & played back fine. I'm concerned my relatively new DVR is acting up with at least one tuner, unless others have experienced a similar problem??

Comments?

Comcast wants to shift nationally to the 1000s for HD & we will get there eventually (I don't know when), but the precursor for that happening here will be our locals going digital ony. So keep your eye out for notification from Comcast that you are losing alll analog signals as they switch to all digital. Typically a few months after that happens, we'll get the additional HD channels.

Brent-
As Carl mentioned - they are rolling this out to the rest of the Philly 'burb areas eventually. The removal of the basic channels in analog will be the 1st thing to start. Once that is done, give or take 2-4 weeks and you'll see them.

What i've heard is the entire area (Delco, Chester, New Castle County) should be done by March.

Not sure about your area. Down here (Cape May,NJ) we are supposed to be losing the ability to do that in March, we will need to use one of the DTA to get the locals (and pay for limited basic, about $11/month).

I checked this AM & still missing Fox (29.1) but getting all others.

As for the post asking about getting channels w/o box. Here, a few analog channels (as well as digital via QAM) are still available but that will not last much longer with Comcast when all digital gets here and I don't know when that change will happen but suspect it will be any time now.

So in the future we'll have to use OAR or get used to boxes for all TVs.

At least that will make self-installs possible/easier and no more truck rolls for initial connects, if everything is encrypted then they won't bother disconnecting units to taps or have to deal with traps anymore.

Less expenses, so how about cutting down some of the yearly price hikes???

Word was that it was to happen in March.

Once this happens and the HD's appear in the 1000's (that Bucks and Montco have and got back in October) - i'm coming back to Comcast. I fought over a year to get VZ to add Fox Soccer HD, so waiting for that to show up. :-)

Ah Matt!! You're getting frustrated I can tell! :) It's too bad. FIOS held such promise and as you know I almost switched but by the time FIOS was FINALLY available for me I no longer saw the the need to switch, Comcast had basically caught up. I'll certainly post if I hear anything..so far nada!

You know, another reason I drag my feet to switch is my e-mail account. I HATED the thought of that change. These days, most of our lives (personal, business, financial. Not to mention family & friends) are tied to our e-mail addresses. That change is harder for me than switching telephone numbers or video services!

What about others on this forum, switching e-mail accounts an issue for you?

Yeah, I have so many places going to my verizon email address that I know I'd probably miss out on Publishers Clearing House trying to contact me about my winnings.

I have basic comcast and use a splitter to get high def via the QAM tuner - though the OTA forum says that capability will be taken away soon. Something just burns me about having to pay $10/month for a HD box to view the content I'm already paying for.

So I have an incentive to switch to verizon - just have to see if they charge extra for the box(es). But I would hate to have the lawn dug up (if they even need to do that) since I killed myself last season bringing the lawn back to life.

Looks like full digital in New Castle County (along w/ the new HD's) now won't happen until the summer. Not sure what issues they are encountering, but it must be something.

They had prior PR's that had stated the entire Freedom Region would be complete by end of Q1. Looks like i'll be with FIOS for longer than I thought.
