escapecar 12-03-09, 11:20 PM Sooo, fellow TWC subscribers, what did you think of the "Roll Over or Get Tough" email that came out recently?
I'm thinking there's about two dozen channels I watch regularly, and if TWC can't negotiate properly, I can take my 3 DVRs and 2 digital boxes back to the store and get one of several competing options installed in short order.
Too bad our elected representatives are too corrupted by lobbyist dollars to push through a ala carte requirement for pay tv service.....
I guess with Comcast purchasing NBC/Universal (NBC Nightly News) that broadcast tv will continue copying cable in their quest to turn tv into the internet. Fortunately for me and not so fortunate for broadcasters and cable, HD reception via my BD player has never been better. And now I can even rent tv shows and see nothing but the program on the screen.
mgsports 12-04-09, 04:23 PM Maybe we will get NBC Channel's in HD that Comcast has a contract with sooner that we don't have yet like Bravo and so on and 97 Deleted and KMCI HD added.
FYI - Comcast-Olathe's NFL RedZone channel has been experiencing problems today (Sun., 12/06). Called them at 12:15 PM and they actually had information - the network connection was having problems. At the time, the HD channel had no picture or sound and the SD channel had no sound. Later in the afternoon, the sound was back on the SD channel, but the HD channel is still blank.
FrugalRacer 12-08-09, 01:49 PM Everest has added the Big Ten network in HD on ch. 438 ( I think ). Also, Big Ten in SD has now appeared on the analog tier, but I don't remember what channel it's on.
MadSpleen85 12-08-09, 08:43 PM Spleen, I have two theories about your loss of the Hearst-Argyle stations:
1. You were benefitting from tropo ducting during the warmer season. Signals travel better in warm, humid air. I have a set-top antenna that can pick up KC stations 60+ miles away in the summer, but don't bother in the winter. You are much closer than I, though, and you have an aerial antenna, so this shouldn't be as big a factor, which leads me to the other, better explanation...
2. Some tree or trees that were hiding some multipath have lost their foliage, meaning a secondary signal that bounces off of a building or a water tower is now confusing your tuner with a second, delayed signal. ATSC (digital) signals are more susceptible to multipath than analog, which would have just shown a ghost image. You might need to switch to a more directional antenna...? Being in Shawnee, all of the signals are generally east of you.
Thanks. Shortly after I submitted my earlier post, I emailed KMBC's engineers and they said the problem had to be on my end because everything of theirs was operating as normal. Then mysteriously, within an hour of my returned email, without touching the antenna, any wires/cables, I decided to try one last scan before climbing onto the roof. Scanned and the missing channels reappeared and have been running strong ever since. Still thinking there might be a need for a little adjustment antenna wise. We occasionally will drop a channel for 5 or so minutes then it comes in just fine. My father suggested a signal amp but figured it would be cheaper to attempt to better adjust the current setup instead of spending money on an amp.
mgsports 12-09-09, 01:06 PM Finally, a VHF nightmare. WIBW in Topeka now seeks a fill-in translator on channel 44, same as their pre-transition digital channel.

The wording of your post leads me to think this will cause a VHF nightmare. Actually, this may solve a nightmare for those of us who have a hard time with VHF 13. Where did you see this? Could you post a link? I'd be curious to know where the translator will be located.
And by the way, for those who seek WIBW 13 Topeka CBS as a way out of this Sunday's Chiefs blackout, they'll be blacked out, too, as they are within 75 mi of Arrowhead.

It sounds wrong because it was pulled out of context from my post in the Allotment thread. I've been using that phrasing pretty much since June to describe any VHF station taking steps to resolve a reception issue. I'm basically saying "this station is a VHF nightmare, so here's what they're doing about it."
It looks like it's the same antenna on the same tower, just at 15 kW instead of 193 kW. Here's the PDF that was included in the FCC paperwork: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS_Attachment/getattachment.jsp?appn=101346622&qnum=5110©num=1&exhcnum=1

mgsports 12-10-09, 06:37 PM Comcast user if your still getting 97 KCPT on your Digital Box is was Deleted along time ago,980,981 and so on that was deleted to and like missing 124 and 146-CMT need to call Comcast to get your Box reset. I can tell on Saturday what has been deleted and added.
And by the way, for those who seek WIBW 13 Topeka CBS as a way out of this Sunday's Chiefs blackout, they'll be blacked out, too, as they are within 75 mi of Arrowhead.
Quite honestly, wouldn't you rather have the blackout and get a really good AFC (CBS) game at Noon (Broncos vs. Colts or Bengals vs. Vikings, for example)?

I've been hoping for that all season......but I suspect the Chiefs will work as hard as possible this week and next to keep their sellout streak alive.

I don't think KCTV-5 can show another NFL game if the local game is blacked out.
In the event of a Chiefs blackout, Sunday's scheduled NFL lineup on FOX 4 will change. If the game is blacked out, FOX 4 will show the New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons game at noon instead of a later game at 3 p.m.
dlnester 12-11-09, 12:54 PM No Blackout:

KSBugeater 12-11-09, 03:11 PM I don't think KCTV-5 can show another NFL game if the local game is blacked out.
Correct. That would defeat the purpose of the blackout, which is to PUNISH local NFL fans for not supporting their team.

Doesn't that also defeat the purpose of the blackout? I thought the message was: "If you want NFL football in this timeslot, then get your butt over to the local NFL stadium where great seats are still available."
Not that I agree with that message. Times are tough and Chiefs tickets are expensive. I enjoy my viewing experience much more from my basement than with a bunch of boozed-up boo-birds.
Go CHIEFS!
dlnester 12-11-09, 03:13 PM I copied that FOX 4 game change from their website... I didn't think they could show one either...
Fortunately, there's always the RedZone channel - a sampling of all the games is better than watching the one lousy game at noon.
mgsports 12-11-09, 05:09 PM On my TV with the HD Box their's still 850 S. Community Information Channel that English Gardens doesn't want to turn on and 890 To be Annouced.
97 was Deleted a long time ago that what somebody said to me on the Phone on Wednesday. 146 has been gone since Wednesday and it's CMT like what's on 56 that should be the one gone and 68. 124 is a On Demand Channel.
Also on Wednesday NHL Network was showing GAC but did go back to showing NHL Network programming.
258 was gone recently but came back the next day.
925 now just has the Black Screen and Music in the background.
800's is to before HD Channels.
You might want to call them to let them know that's your's is also having a problem then they will know it's everybody.
I can tell you tomorrow what has been added or added back or taken out.
You would had to go to Omaha or even Springfield and Wichita that are the same distance as Columbia and Topeka to watch the Game.
mgsports 12-12-09, 06:31 PM They are moving Channels around and will take a month so they will be gone out and in like CMT on 146 or GAC on 276. This could mean more HD Channels are coming like ESPN 850 and ESPN2 851 that have some else on them right know.
New Lineup on 1-1-10 but really nothing new in it we just have wait and see if we have less Analog on that day and new channels to.
c627627 12-13-09, 04:21 AM Hi I'm on TWC in KC metro, can my old 8300HD be expanded nowadays with an external hard drive?
I have a special power adapter to power any hard drive directly from a power outlet, so can I just connect a naked SATA drive to the DVR box? Or do I need an eSata enclosure?
You would had to go to Omaha or even Springfield and Wichita that are the same distance as Columbia and Topeka to watch the Game.
But why would you want to?
mgsports 12-13-09, 06:17 PM Just to see Chiefs game if it or any are blacked out.
Most likely it is local subchannels for OTA chs that will be in the former sports area (high 200s). meaning 250 to maybe lets to 260 will be empty intill more Digital Sub Channels area dded.
dlnester 12-15-09, 08:28 PM AT&T just added new HD Channels:
1157 - TV One HD
1215 - MSNBC HD
1325 - Cartoon Network HD
1560 - Trinity Broadcasting Network HD
1679 - World Fishing Network HD* (Premium Tier)
escapecar 12-16-09, 04:03 PM On TWC in Overland Park, MSNBC-HD is now on Channel 1028.
mgsports 12-16-09, 08:47 PM 276 will be GAC any day know before 1-1-2010 275 will be CMT and 274 CMTP.
Cartoon Network SD Was to be put on 126 if the channel was to be Converted to digital A couple of years Ago, but when they did, they kept the Original Number digital Too, and i got sick of them having Duplicated Numbers, so i Personally E-mailed Blitz Rick Over and Over to stop him from doing this, and then they finally stopped, and Now with the World of More Campaign, The expanded basic channel numbers Will stay the same, we know this is a 100% fact because this is what They all ready did in NJ, PA and MD so far, all they do is now is just take the channels off of analog and keep them on the Digital Side since all the New boxes here just pick up Digital Simulcast, since all new boxes will be only capable of receiving Digital only signals, if you do not like it--too bad for you, since it's the future, get on with it!!! Also we all ready know what the HD channels will be since in our entire region, they will be in the same position with the exception of the Local Channels since some areas have more Broadcast Channels than Others!!!!! The only difference between each system here will be the amount of analog channels left, since again Areas like Center City and Philadelphia have lots of Broadcast Networks so there New HD was more limited than the Other Areas, and the Timing each system Migrated due to Comcast's Pecking Order!!! Do not worry we have other people who all ready live here that will give out the information when it becomes available!!!!
You could also watch the Game Online.
dlnester 12-17-09, 05:51 PM CHIEFS VS. BROWNS BLACKED OUT.
In accordance with NFL guidelines, the Kansas City Chiefs final home game of the 2009 season against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, December 20th will not be televised in a 75-mile radius of the Kansas City metropolitan area. NFL rules require host teams to declare their sellout status no later than 72 hours prior to kickoff at which time the public is notified that a television blackout will occur if remaining tickets have not been sold.
The television blackout will also extend to those television stations located outside the 75-mile radius, but whose reach extends to homes inside it. The DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket broadcast of this game will also be unavailable to zip codes inside that radius.
The game will be available to fans, however, on CBS affiliates in Wichita (KS), Omaha (NE), Jefferson City-Columbia (MO), Springfield (MO), Pittsburg (KS), Dodge City/Hays (KS) and Sioux City (IA). The game may also be heard via radio on KCFX-FM (101.1 the FOX), the flagship of the Chiefs Fox Football Radio Network, and its many affiliates throughout the Midwest. The Chiefs radio broadcast may also be heard on Sirius 154. In addition, NFL.com will broadcast this weekend’s game on a delayed basis.
The contest will be posted on NFL.com beginning at midnight the day of the game and remain available for 72 hours at no cost in the Kansas City area.
KANSAS ZIP CODES BLACKED OUT (http://www.kcchiefs.com/tv/kansas_zip)
MISSOURI ZIP CODES BLACKED OUT (http://www.kcchiefs.com/tv/missouri_zip)
I spoke to a Comcast CSR yesterday (12/17/09) and was told that when the conversion of Comcast-Olathe's system from analog to digital was complete (expected to be in March or May [he said it was an "M" month]), 100 additional HD channels would be included in the Comcast-Olathe system. He said this would NOT occur on the Comcast-Independence system. The CSR would not give specifics on which HD channels would be added. I would guess that several would be the HD channels of the premium movie channels like HBO, MAX, Showtime, Starz and Encore (but that's a guess) and anticipated channels like Weather Channel, NBA, NHL, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, etc.
mgsports 12-18-09, 03:29 PM Good to know. Yes it will be those and others that Comcast has a contract with in HD in the 800's and also maybe KMCI and IONTV HD. On Comcast at like 10:30pm 185 Lifetime HD is back. What we need is a exact Lineup from 100 to 999 as in the future. MO will be doing the same thing.
If it's complete know we should be getting more HD and SD Channels soon meaning before the middle of January. They should have said that in the Letter they sent out out and in the Lineup shown when Sports Tier to 7 Hundreds.

This is the same ploy used by NFL Network and Comcast during their negotiations, as well as Disney when their contracts were up and they threatened to pull the plug on the ESPN networks, Disney Channel and ABC. It will all be worked out in the end; they are both at fault and they are both right. Besides, we haven't been provided a St. Louis Blues game on FS-Kansas City HD for since the beginning of the NHL season.
c627627 12-20-09, 04:12 AM Does anyone know which channel is Diag on on TWC please?
I don't think KCTV-5 can show another NFL game if the local game is blacked out.
That is incorrect. Although Fox4 is not showing a noon game today (Fox is the double-header network for today's games), KCTV will show Miami at Tennessee in place of Cleveland at Kansas City.
escapecar 12-20-09, 05:16 PM Does anyone know which channel is Diag on on TWC please?
I don't think there is one anymore. To get the diagnostic screens on an 8300HD box, do the following:
1. Hold down the "OK/Select" button on the remote until the "mail" symbol (looks like a letter) appears on the front panel of the box.
2. Press "info" on the remote. You should have 20-some pages you can scroll through with the arrow keys.
I assume this is similar for all the other Scientific Atlanta boxes, but you never know.
dlnester 12-20-09, 05:22 PM I've had several St. Louis Blues games in HD on FSN-KC on AT&T U-Verse.

Contrary to what is reported here, Food Network and GAC are Scripps-owned channels (along with Fine Living, DIY and HGTV), not NewsCorp/Fox-owned channels. Scripps also owns KSHB - Channel 41. Therefore, these channels are not affected by the Fox/TWC negotiations.

With the closings taking up more then 1/3 of the screen during Pre-game and halftime of the game earlier tonight, it was hardly bearable with this 46" LCD. FOX-4 used to be a FOX O&O (owned and operated) station, and if that was still the case, they'd probably have gone to HD on local-origination programming by now. They now have two things working against them: 1) An owner without deep pockets, and 2) The oldest TV plant in the market (60+ years). I don't know anything specific about their plans, but I wouldn't necessarily expect anything to happen "soon." :(

I know someone who works at Fox 4 and asked him about this today. He said Local TV had a much better 4th quarter and because of that Fox 4 will go full HD this year. He doesn't know when yet but plans are in place and equipment is starting to come in in phases. They have the HD switch already.

Okay how many channels do you have in the 800's,90's,120's and 140's because I have to 2 in the 90's and only should have 95 and not also 97-KCPT,in the 120's only missing 124,127 to and also 118 and in the 140's missing 146-CMT,in the 800's 850 saved for ESPN HD.
Good to see. Comcast is not going to add back 146 o r124 or get rid of 97 on the Box in my Opinon because I new Signal won't do it to the Box.
Spoke to a Comcast CSR last night. As may or may not have been reported here already, Comcast will be going all digital within 6 months - meaning that reception of programming (except for channels 2 - 23) will only be available via a converter box. Also, within that time, a whole-house DVR will be made available - no word on size of the hard drive or recording capacity. This added to the 150 HD channels promised within the next 6 months as well.

Comcast Central Sports is know showing Olympics so no Sports to it's over.
Vince2909 02-14-10, 07:21 PM Any of you that are TWC subscribers think that the Daytona 500 looked a little "soft"...? The graphics didn't look crisp and bright, the broadcast just looked a but on the soft side.
escapecar 02-17-10, 11:21 AM I flipped over to MetroSports on TWC recently, only to notice they were running a bug on the screen that said "15 days to MetroSports HD!"
Nice. MS is one of the few SD channels I watch anymore. I doubt they have much in the way of HD programming to start, but it gives me a small amount of hope that they will eventually upgrade the quality of their local productions.
mgsports 02-17-10, 12:30 PM Hopefully Comcast adds it.
OGTV will never been in HD in Olathe.
If after March 15 146-CMT isn't back on somebody should call and also 124 to and 97 gone.

Is this going to be HD or upconverted 4:3 letterbox SD?
escapecar 02-18-10, 01:58 PM Is this going to be HD or upconverted 4:3 letterbox SD?
Good question. All I saw was an on-screen bug. But I did Google up a hot-n-fresh press release (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2010/02/prweb3622164.htm) from today. Given the lack of hype about new HD programming in the release, they're probably just going to upconvert their locally-produced stuff for the time being. But I bet some of the syndicated games they show are available in HD.
They're also adding MetroSports2 on 222, which will show "classic" games from the area. MetroSportsHD will be on 1030, simulcasting what's currently on Channel 30.
mgsports 02-18-10, 06:46 PM Did also says where Comcast is adding both of them?
Ionosphere 02-22-10, 10:44 AM I have noticed that Fox 4 has some new, high-quality weather graphics. I suspect that they're capable of HD.
When KCTV5 went HD, they got some newer, high-quality weather graphics about 4 months before the switch-over.
Sign of things to come? =D
escapecar 02-22-10, 11:46 AM Let's hope so. But they'll probably need to build a new newsroom set. I've read that HD really shows all the little bits of paint touchup, duct tape, etc they use to hide dings and similar damage on a set.
FWIW, some of the previous-generation WDAF news set (lighter-colored wood, angular design) is now located at Olathe Northwest High School. They've got a strong media program there.
CosmoNut 02-22-10, 11:52 AM There's been pretty consistent talk about FOX 4 going HD this year. They're expected to move up to the newsroom for a few weeks while the set is being redone, but I don't know of a timetable for all that to happen.
A friend in Blue Springs has been getting local HD via Comcast extended basic/Qam since he upgraded to HD tvs. I was over there Saturday when he was connecting the free STB and digital adapters for the migration to digital. He could see improved quality of the extended basic channels, so they are indeed already digital. Of course he can't get the local HD through the STB. Does someone know if the digital extended basic channels are scrambled? It would be nice to just connect the tv to the drop, rescan and get at least some of the channels and local HD via Qam.
puttsthree 02-22-10, 02:12 PM Get read for the QAM channels to move around again. I have heard we can expect an additional 50 HD channels coming to Surewest in March.
Can't wait to see what is coming.
Any idea of when the exact date, and the 50 HD channels that are being added? I went to the surewest website and could not find any information.
mgsports 02-22-10, 05:38 PM Is he picking up 146-CMT on the TV'S with the Adapter and 146,124 and not 97 on the TV's that have a box if they do?
I would guess either 259 or in 7 Hundred's for Metro Sports 2 and 8 Hundred's for it's HD Channel on Comcast.

What part of the metro are you in? Closest store to me is Overland Park, KS. Not sure how to get ahold of them to find out if they have new boxes though.

Thanks, I'll try to get one tomorrow then. You haven't noticed any problems with it have you? I assume it is on the 3.1.3_3 navigator load just like the 8300hdc's so should work probably identical except maybe being a bit faster.
dlnester 02-26-10, 09:20 AM Steve-
When i did a search for the OP store on Google Local that is the number it displayed and the address with it was the same location. I don't have TWC so I can't really say much else.
Can anyone confirm the new Cisco 8640HD at the Overland Park store?
Three calls (913-451-6464) to TWC has gleaned no info. It appears that the rep on the phone is instant messaging the store, which in turn is not returning the message.
I suppose I'll just have to suck it up, remove the HDC, drive down to 119th and see for myself.
More to report later.

I had a Comcast tech out to the house last week. Had two of the HD boxes replaced with smaller Motorola boxes (no time/channel display, which is the only drawback). He was explaining to me that there would be no QAM once the switchover takes place on March 15.

The subject of specific programming never came up, other than referencing the added channels to the new digital box for channels 2 - 73. My only questions were related to the new, smaller Motorola HD box, the timing for whole-house DVR (could be 6 months away, could be 2 years away - no telling when Comcast will decide) and the specific issue with the strength of signal to my HD boxes causing pixelation on my HD channels.

KMCI has the rights to the weekly Big 12 Network games (affiliated with ESPN) on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, which is why the game was not on KSMO. KSMO has the rights for the Jayhawk TV network, which, I think, is affiliated with MetroSports (please correct if I am incorrect) for non-conference KU home games.

I think you've got it pegged. Jayhawk Network and Big XII Network are not the same thing. Jayhawk Network used to do a conference game or two in Lawrence every year, but Big XII Network must have finally put together a better midweek syndication package.
I'm still laughing at ESPN. One of the biggest games in the conference this season, and they didn't have the foresight to put it on any of their channels.

Was out at the Comcast-Olathe office late Friday afternoon (got a DVR, which is a new all-black combo HD/DVR box) and asked the CSR about the HD upgrade. Again, as I find with all Comcast CSRs, none of them have the same information. Her information was that no new HD channels would be added to the lineup on March 15. The only change that would happen on the 15th was that all analog channels between 24 and 73 would be switched to digital, requiring the new converter box. The local OTA and local origination channels (2 - 23) would still be available with analog reception until June when the final wave of the digital conversion process would take place.

Is this the general consensus of most here? Will I truly get a noticeably better picture OTA versus Time Warner digital cable?
tblankenship 03-08-10, 08:15 AM I think it is well known that OTA is always better than cable or satellite. However, your viewing conditions might make the difference less noticeable than for others.
I only have a 26" display and don't see a difference between OTA and the cable/QAM feed. At some larger size you will start to notice the difference. I still use OTA for most viewing. You get the program and guide info with OTA, I don't on cable. I still use cable as my record source and don't have to worry about antenna position for unattended recording. It is easy enough to scan both and see what works for you.
escapecar 03-08-10, 10:26 AM I'll agree with the "yes, in theory" assessment. Football on Fox always looks better OTA on my 46" Sony, but I didn't see a huge difference between the two during last Saturday's KU-MU game on CBS. (I did discover that the KU radio stations are synced up to TWC's HD feed.)
On the whole, I'd say it's worth the $11 for the antenna to find out. Worst case, you'll always be able to watch OTA if the cable goes out.
mgsports 03-08-10, 05:55 PM March Madness overflow Channels will be added next week on Comcast. More SD Channels to. I guess we have to wait for KMCI HD or Metro Sports HD/2.
With the Adapter 850 Shows up and 56 is back but not 146 to.

I had the same problem you are having. That's why I had the Comcast tech out to the house a couple weeks ago. He first checked the signal strength and then changed out the old Motorola silver HD box for a new, smaller Motorola black HD box and installed a signal booster outside - it has resolved about 98% of the problems that I had with pixelization.

Just catching up on this thread and noticed that the original question was never answered. You are correct. The local channels are all in clear QAM. I use them for recording in my HTPC setup.
As far as the increase in quality for OTA vs QAM, I have found that the difference is not that noticeable for day to day programming. I cannot get good reception for several of the OTA channels. The infinitesimal (to me on my 42" LCD) difference in quality does not make up for the ease of being able to just plug the cable into my tuner.
In addition, I just rescanned today and noticed a few cable channels in clear QAM. They were TBS, WGN, Style, TCM, CSPAN. However, for all of these it was the SD channel and not the HD channel, which I found odd because all of these channels are in TWCKC's analog tier (the corresponding HD channels are in the Digital-HD tier).
If anyone has the answer or theories on this oddity, please chime in.
p.s. - I envy those who have more than just the local broadcast channels available in clear QAM.

On further inspection, all of the broadcast channels are in clear QAM twice. Once is the normal digital broadcast. The other is an "SD" feed that seems to duplicate the analog tier feed. For example WDAFDT is at 93-12 with resolution of 1280x720p and AR of 16:9. WDAF is at 98-6 with resolution of 720x480i and AR of 4:3.
These duplicate "SD" feed channels are all on channel 98, with the sub-channel corresponding to the analog tier channel number (e.g. 98-3 for KCTV, 98-6 for WDAF). A complete listing can be found at http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/lineup_web/US:64123#lineup_1828800
Again, and knowledge or theories on this would be appreciated.
Thanks for the heads up on the extra TWC QAM channels. I wonder if TWC is gearing up to migrate to all digital like Comcast is doing, with only the basic chs 2-18 staying in analogue.

What is the SQL cmd you used to merge the dtv_multiplex table and the channel table? Also, does the channel scanner work for you in .22? I always get tons of odd pop-ups.

Good morning all,
My wife and I are planning to move soon. It would mean leaving TWC for Comcast.
Currently TWC utilizes SDV, does Comcast?
If so, which tuning adapter does Comcast use? Cisco or Motorola?
Any other pros or cons anyone would like to share?
Thanks for your time.

Basscadet 03-19-10, 03:23 PM I sure wish Time Warner would offer an upgradeable "premium" HD DVR for a small fee. I am at my wits-end with this ancient Cisco Explorer piece of garbage: slow, clunky user interface, random reboots, tiny hard disk, etc. I just got this new box when I moved in October and it looks like it was designed 5+ years ago.
I do a lot of business travelling and witness Direct TV, Dish, and other cable DVR's that are just so much better than what we have.
I'm seriously considering switching to DirectTV. Unfortunately SureWest doesn't offer service in my part of Overland Park.

Hi everyone. I'm a directv guy so when my neighbor asked me a question about Fox 4 on Time Warner WITHOUT the box, I had no idea.
Maybe you can help.
He's got 5 tv's in his house and only the Time Warner Digital boxes on 4 of them. He doesn't want to pony up more money for the 5th box for his kitchen. He's totally fine with what he gets on that TV without the box EXCEPT he can't get (or maybe he just doesn't know where to find) Fox Channel 4 in HD. The signal he gets is watchable, but it's truly horrible. I mean, I wouldn't watch it if it were me.
Any ideas how he can get Fox 4 without the digital box? Of course an OTA antenna would be too much trouble for him, most likely would be rabbit ears.
Thanks!

according to Silicon Dust you should be able to see WDAF on QAM 93-12.

That's a good option to mention too. An added bonus of upgrading my 12-yr PC was being able to record OTA broadcasts. If you don't have TV tuner with your PC, you'll need to get one. You can either plug in your cable or another set of rabbit ears :). Otherwise, Windows Media Center will only be able to get you Internet TV (some network shows, newscasts).
Anyone a Comcast subscriber with some info?

As mitchell2345 says, it's available in clear QAM. I've certainly used it in the recent past. However, WDAF is difficult for my 32" Sony Bravia to decode for whatever reason. I had to replace a few splitters and cables between the junction and that TV to get WDAF there. Since your friend is having the same issues I was having, it's possible that Fox 4's channel on TWC may have some interference working against it or something. Who knows. Have him double check his cabling and maybe consider a booster of some sort near the junction ... especially since he's split out to 5 TV's (every time you split the signal, you loose 3dB ... half it's signal strength).

Hopefully their HD conversion is thorough like KSHB and not just a few HD cameras in the studio like KMBC and KCTV.
I've been seeing more and more local commercials in HD on KSHB lately.
CosmoNut 03-24-10, 05:55 PM Yeah, if FOX 4 does it right that will be much more preferable.
I have to wonder how many news operations in the U.S.' top 100 markets are still in SD. Do you suppose it's less than half? Less than a quarter? Any way to find this out?

dlnester 03-25-10, 01:48 PM 138 OF 140 FSN-KC Royals Broadcasts to be in HD
FOX Sports Kansas City and the Kansas City Royals today announced that FOX Sports Kansas City is scheduled to televise a team-record 138 regular season games in High Definition in 2010.
In addition, the Friday, April 2 Spring Training game between the Royals and Texas Rangers will be televised in HD. All home telecasts from Kauffman Stadium will be produced in HD, including Opening Day on Monday, April 5.
HD programming begins 30 minutes before game time to include FOX Sports Kansas City’s pregame and postgame show, Royals Live.
Only two of FSKC’s 140 regular season telecasts – April 19 and 20 at Toronto – will not be produced in HD. FOX Sports Kansas City produced 93 HD games last year and 88 in 2008, the first year of HD telecasts for Royals baseball.

Thanks for the link. It shows 2 hard drive sizes. Do you know which size the TWC boxes use?
And another question...Are the menu's still in 4:3 format like the 8300HDC or did they finally make them full screen?
I was thinking that most of our favorite shows are going to be ending their seasons soon so I won't really need the increased storage over the summer. I might just hold off on getting the new box until this fall. I guess it depends if I get bored or not :)
In other news, I just did a QAM-clear scan on one of my TVs, there are a lot of the shopping channels on digital channels now. The picture quality was terrible though. It also seemed like the local channels had their SD feeds on digital channels also, so there were two digital channels that had NBC, metro weather, etc. Makes me wonder if maybe TW is preparing to go all digital.

1. I got a 8640HDC a few weeks ago and it is 320GB :)
2. Menu is still 4:3 and I don't think will be compatible with 16:9 screen just like 8300 series.
Just an FYI......
It also has problems that the 8300's didn't like when pausing a show, after the 5 minute wait and screensaver comes on, the only section of the screen that gets a screensaver is the inside 4:3 section. The sidebars are not blacked out so whatever you were watching could possibly burn in to your TV if left too long on pause.
The biggest problem for me is that it has HDMI issues where if you go to another input to watch blu-ray, play game, etc., when you go back to cable input the box reverts to 480i even though I only have 1080i selected as the output of the box. You have to switch channels to the opposite (SD or HD) channel than what you are currently watching and then switch it back in order to correct it. Sometimes it would even revert my settings back to default causing me to go in and select only 1080i again and Ive even had to go into the audio settings to get my DD5.1 back to the home theater speakers. Very, very annoying and could be fixed with ditching HDMI and using Component cables but I refuse to stop advancing and step back in technology just because TWC sucks.

When they had there lightning hit during american idol 3 weeks ago, the tower took at least 7 lightning hits, and effected alot of equipment. Beginning this season, all MLS games are supposed to be shot in HD, even though some teams don't have an HD broadcast partner. Getting the Wizards on KCWE is a huge step up from MetroSports.
And also on a soccer note, TWC added Fox Soccer Channel HD on 1211, and Fox Soccer Plus/FSPHD on 216/1216. Fox Soccer Plus is part of the Sports Tier.
mgsports 03-31-10, 02:07 PM Will need to conform from Comcast here when this is going to happen and New HD either in 2 Hundreds or 8 Hundreds.

As a DirecTV subscriber, I'm so jealous! First of all, neither is available in HD to us (yet) -- and Fox Soccer Plus (essentially a replacement for the defunct Setanta Sports) is an a la carte channel at $15/month extra. I don't like it, but essentially consider it an English Premier League season pass. You guys have it made! Not only is it available, but FS+ is no additional charge!

Ionosphere 04-02-10, 06:42 PM Well, with this morning's severe weather I was able to see something I had not in quite a while--the weather crawls! Yay!(Insert Sarcastic Smiley Here!)
KSHB's weather crawl didn't screw up the picture too bad. I could basically see everything important while I watched the Today Show, which stayed in HD despite the crawl.
KCTV's was nice because it took up even less room. I didn't get to test it on HD this morning, but it didn't screw up the HD widescreen last year.
KMBC's was also nice, but a little big, and didn't screw up HD. But it looked kind of stupid considering they used the old SD one and the banner of the crawl cut off right in the middle of the screen.
WDAF's was hard to read because they were airing white text straight onto the background picture. I'm sure that has something to do with a week or so ago when they lost some equipment to lightning.
I'm over all satisfied with them on the first three channels listed; I looked at the Columbia stations when they had to do the crawl, and it makes the picture look horrible! (Except KOMU 8 :) ) Kind of like on Fox 4, but worse! Downgraded to SD and the picture distorted! Same with KQ2 and many other small markets.
It's sad that Fox 4 wasn't able to put those graphics over their programming when its HD without downgrading it to SD in terms of last year. Maybe now that they've been airing sitcom reruns in HD, they will be able to place their crawl over the programming without ruining the picture.
But I sort of thank Fox 4, because unless the weather was really bad last year, they wouldn't ruin the picture unlike the other stations would in the same situation.
Mizzou! 04-02-10, 08:06 PM What Columbia stations are you talking about? I know KOMU runs the crawls in HD using a HD system....
Ionosphere 04-02-10, 09:20 PM Oh... yeah. KOMU is good. I was talking about KRCG and KMIZ. That was horrible last time I watched them during a thunderstorm event.

An indoor antenna will work to pick up KC local television.
You would only need an outdoor antenna if you were interested in getting Topeka stations.
mikfort51 04-05-10, 04:17 PM For those with dishnetwork the opening day game is listed in the guide on 442HD but I'm getting the check back often to see if your team is playing in HD. Is the game blacked out? It is on 448 in SD. With over 140 Royals games to be broadcast in HD this year how many can Dishnetwork customers expect to see?
dlnester 04-05-10, 04:25 PM Not that unusual with Dish Network. They have said multiple times in the past that they don't have the capacity to carry all the FSN-KD HD broadcasts and sometimes have to drop games.

April, 2010
At Time Warner Cable, from time to time we make certain changes in the services we offer in order to better serve our customers. The following service addition is planned: KPXE will soon begin broadcasting in HD. KPXE HD will be added to channel 1481 on our current line-up. Maybe Comcast and others to along with Sub Channels to.
sneaky snooper 04-07-10, 05:14 PM It appears that KCPT 19.1 has gone to a strictly 16:9 feed. Directv is now taking the widescreen version of KCPT (Note where the T-storm warning bug is...its in the EXACT same place on the HD version that Directv takes) complete with pillar bars and so on when they're in SD mode.
mitchell2345 04-15-10, 02:51 PM Have we heard anything about this yet? It's almost the end of March, yet no new HD channels to be seen on Surewest.
And now its mid april and still nothing!

mashays 04-21-10, 10:12 AM These are on Comcast. Most of these are on this morning-WGN, ESPN News and a few others are not yet available. The HD channels in the 100 and 200's have not yet been moved to the higher channels.
mgsports 04-21-10, 12:05 PM So Haven't the HD On Demand Channels moved yet with HD Music On Demand back,97 hasen't been Deleted yet as of yesterday,144 CMT not back yet and so on. WE not 504 In Demand HD 1 and Centric on 144 know according to the Comcast lineup Online on it's Website. It alos shows 815-QVC HD and 803 KPXE-HD but wern't here yesterday but maybe today with KMCI/Metro Sports HD. Also Sports Tier is still in the 2 Hundreds and not 7 Hundreds and no new International or SD Channels yet maybe in 2 wave of HD Channels. Also I would say behind KXPE HD would be ION LIFE an QUBO.
Theirs a Comcast AD in today's Star but the Online version won't load so maybe could scan it in here.
Also shows HGTV on 56 to for Olathe and if it were true then we would have no CMT in SD at the moment.
Buddyl33 04-21-10, 12:28 PM One thing that I hate about TW's HD On Demand is the HD Primetime on Demand. It isn't in HD. It simply switches you to 111 which is the SD broadcast.
These are on Comcast. Most of these are on this morning-WGN, ESPN News and a few others are not yet available. The HD channels in the 100 and 200's have not yet been moved to the higher channels.
Channel 832 and 940 both show the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) listing, although mgsports shows 940 as being The Movie Channel (TMC). In either case, both 832 and 940 show as "Not Authorized". When I called a Comcast CSR, he said that TCM was now a subscription service, which is odd since channel 52 still broadcasts in the clear. He also said that Comcast may still be working on the setup. All the other new HD channels seems to appear correctly. In addition, the HD channel for MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice is broadcasting in the clear for the time being.
mgsports 04-25-10, 05:36 PM https://www.comcast.com/Customers/Clu/ChannelLineup.ashx?area=0 you need to check it every day because their could be changes. HD on Demand Channels are missing from it and call FSN Kansas City On Demand and so on. Yes but I got that from their Website that list and it's not the same as the Lineup on our Box today.
Tennis Channel HD has no sound but SD version does on Comcast. Maybe somebody with HD DVR any to be annouced Channel's and so on yet?

EricM407 05-01-10, 05:58 PM I'm on TWC and get a message that says:
[whatever channel I'm on] is unavailable. Please try again later.
Anybody know what that's about? I've seen it occasionally for at least the last year, but it's especially bad today. Chat support had me reboot the box, which surprisingly enough didn't fix the problem. I'll swap boxes on Monday, I guess. It just seems odd that there's this weird problem which has a pre-programmed message, yet support doesn't seem to know anything about it.
heelyes 05-01-10, 08:26 PM Has anyone here in the KC area been able to compare picture quality (specifically HD) between Time Warner and U-Verse?
We live in Overland Park and just switched (as in yesterday) from TWC to ATT. Without having watched a ton of TV on the U-Verse yet, I'm noticing a decrease in HD picture quality from our TWC service. There appears to be less soft detail and more noticeable pixelation while watching the Celtics - Cavs game that's on at the moment. Though I've not had my screen professionally calibrated, I was happy with where I had it tweaked with my TWC service.
The other "amenities" with U-verse are nice, but I have a 58" plasma for a reason, so HD picture quality is my #1 priority. My choices are limited to TWC or ATT, as I don't want to do DTV or Dish for a variety of reasons.
Have any of you other KC/OP people made switched between TWC and ATT (or vice versa)? If so, what's your opinion on who has the better picture? Thanks for your input.
Edited to Add: I would consider SureWest, too, as it's also available in my neighborhood. However, in looking at their website, it seems like they offer far fewer HD channels than Time Warner or AT&T. I guess you could call me an HD snob because I very, very rarely watch any SD programming, thus the quality and number of HD channels are pretty important to me.

It means you have a weak or insufficient signal. This could be from the box to TWC or TWC to the box. This could be due to the signal to your home or this could be due to signal problems within your house.
It is normally not a box problem. I had the same problem happening with regularity last year and had TWC out to my house. Some of the signal splitters I was using at the time did not allow sufficient signal back from the box to TWC. When a channel was requested TWC never returned the signal, because they never got the request. The box interpreted this as the station not being available at the time.
The technician swapped out several splitters that I had purchased on my own with those from TWC and the problem disappeared.
I can't say that it never occurs anymore, but it is very rare after the service call.

EricM407 05-02-10, 08:58 AM Thanks, I guess I'll have a tech out to check things. I was having problems four or five months ago with certain channels that would be heavily pixellated or just completely black, and the tech said I had bad signal where it came to the house, so they put a new drop in. I only have that one splitter outside going to one TV and the modem, both short runs. I've had to reset my modem a few times the last couple weeks too, so maybe that splitter is no good.
Buddyl33 05-02-10, 09:45 AM Has anyone here in the KC area been able to compare picture quality (specifically HD) between Time Warner and U-Verse?
TWC has the best HD quality of what's available to you.
WILWRadio 05-02-10, 01:56 PM Can anyone recommend an Installer that can mount two or three antennas on the top of my roof in Richmond, MO? I already have the hardware and just need to find someone willing to get on top of a single floor house to mount the antennas on the chimney and vent pipe.

I noticed that this weekend! The wifey was watching "You've Got Mail" and I had to do a double-take when I saw it filled the screen and looked MUCH crisper. Good stuff!

I live in Lenexa and recently made the switch from TWC to ATT. My reasons had to do with the reliability and consistency of my internet connection and it's available bandwidth. So far, I'm glad I made the switch.
I knew I would be taking a hit in HD picture quality, but my screens are old and we watch mostly over the air programming and don't use the cable much. I haven't watched any sports yet, but I imagine it'll be a less than stelar viewing experience when I do.
ATT over compresses HD streams so as to be able to squeeze more than one stream down to your box at a time and still have enough left over for internet and VOIP. TWC has more available bandwidth allowing them to broadcast a much higher quality digital picture than does ATT. The kind of picture quality you're going to get out of ATT isn't going to be anywhere near what you had with TWC.

I don't really care about KPXE, 146 (CMT) or 97 (KCPT). And, I understand MetroSports HD won't be on any other system other than TWC. All I was guessing on was the existing local channels in HD that are in the 231-247 range, and I may be wrong on those. Plus, if you'll notice, I did leave the open channels from 886-890 and 896-899, so there are 9 slots for expansion of the non-premium channels for HD.

I've emailed them about when they plan to add new HD channels and never get a response either. The DVR is in severe need of an upgrade.
I appreciate Surewest/Everest for bringing competition to the areas they serve, but they just can't seem to keep up with the advances in technology.

97 deleted and 146 added back.
Sports Tier to 7 Hundred's.
Oxygen to 123.
HD On Demand Channels channels moved by other HD Channels.
International and so on SD Channels added that we are to get.
Movie Channel Xtra,Showtime Showcase,HBO Comedy,HBO Family,Rest Cinemax's,World Fishing Network also in SD,RFD-TV also in SD,QVC-815,MAVTV also in SD,.HDNET,Big Ten Network and overflow Channels,KPXE HD along with Life and Qubo HD Channels. I would say also Live Well HD but don't know if KMBC is going to hook with that Channel and KMCI but don't know if Comcast has to plan's to add HD Channel of it and also Metro Sports but TWCKC won't let Comcast have the HD Channel of it but the SD version of it. I would make the Digital Channel of it Metro Sports 2.
Comcast has developed a Master Channel Lineup (MCLU) that will be deployed across the country over the next year or so. All channels will be grouped by genre.
- 99 and Below: Will remain the same with channel numbers decided by the local market. All channels in this range will be replicated in higher channel numbers.
- 100's: News, Local, and Public Service, Educational, Government.
- 200's: General Entertainment and Lifestyle cable channels (FX, TNT, Discovery, etc)
- 300's: General Entertainment and Lifestyle cable channels (Lifetime, A&E, TLC, shopping channels etc)
- 400's: Music Channels
- 500's: Kids and Religious channels
- 600's and 700's: Sports
- 800's: Movies and PPV
- 900's: Premium channels
- HD channels will move to the 1000's with the same channel number as the SD version + 1000.
- International Channels will be in the 2000's.
A few systems in Indiana will test the new lineup in June. Probably in Tuscon and Salt Lake City, too.

Sorry its so rough but better than nothing!
I currently have Directv in Orlando, FL and have been pretty happy with it. I'll be moving to Independence, MO and was interested to know if there were any issues I should know about (reception) or maybe if Comcast (only cable option) would be better? HDTV is most important as I have a 109" screen and will be purchasing a 55-75" flat screen soon.
dlnester 05-10-10, 03:14 PM I would suggest keeping the DirecTV system. Other than a few Midwest T-Storms giving you "Rain Fade" every now and then, DirecTV is pretty solid here.
CosmoNut 05-10-10, 04:26 PM I'll be moving to Independence, MO and was interested to know if there were any issues I should know about (reception)...
Independence's reception is pretty good, and because all of the transmitters are from the same general direction you don't have a lot of that to worry about. We run our TVs over the air and are quite pleased.
mgsports 05-10-10, 07:00 PM If want all local Channels in HD then AT&T U-Verse and Surewest because Comcast doesn't offer KMCI HD yet but does offer Metro Sports but you could have just had Comcast in Orlando then when you got here you wouldn't have to choose. Theirs almost a car every day in the Olathe East wal-mart parking lot that's from Florida.
heelyes 05-10-10, 08:41 PM OK, here's a technical question for you guys.
Due to the decrease in picture quality, I won't be keeping U-verse. I plan on switching back to Time Warner. I never canceled my Time Warner account. The TWC sales rep, who probably has limited or no tech experience, said if the cable outlet is hot, I would simply need to reconnect my TWC boxes to the outlet. I've tried that, but now my TWC boxes won't work. Instead, I get an "AlT" message. I assume that when AT&T did their install, they rewired things to work with their technology. When I switch back to Time Warner, will I need a tech rep to come rearrange my connections?
MadSpleen85 05-10-10, 08:53 PM Anyone else having difficulties receiving KCTV 5 OTA today? First noticed it at 6am. Still happening now. Signal keeps completely dropping out. Contacted KCTV 5 to see if they were having issues and received no response, phone or email.
MadSpleen85 05-10-10, 10:22 PM I finally received a reply from an engineer with KCTV5. He advised that he believes it to be a "weather issue" and that they will be "switching out the antenna the first week of June and it should be better then".
Sounds like they are aware of something being a problem. Why else would they be replacing their antenna and be so sure that replacing that will fix my issue?

Since the digital switch KCTV-5 has had a lot of signal issues in Independence. They have a blurb on their website about it.
It is a bit dated...

At the very least the TWC line coming in from the outside will need to be reconnected to your house. I am sure this was disconnected by AT&T when they did the install. There could be more, but I have never gone through (nor will I ever) go through a U-verse install.
mgsports 05-11-10, 03:44 PM Maybe DOT2 Network at the same time and HD in the 8 Hundred's on Comcast to.

Their current DTV antenna is side-mounted on the southwest side of their tower, causing many issues to the north and east. I'm not sure why you have problems in Shawnee; I get a great signal. The new antenna will be top-mounted in place of the old analog antenna, and should help quite a bit.

Yeah, the problem here in Shawnee does not make much sense to me. I looked at the maps on TVFool.com of where transmitters are from my address and KCTV's is not even the farthest signal to my north. WDAF's transmitter is further north than KCTV's and I have no problems with WDAF. Hopefully the switch to a top mounted DTV antenna will fix my issue.
I have family in Chillicothe, Missouri that have not been able to receive KCTV since the DTV switch last June. I can see how the current DTV antenna being mounted on the SW side of the tower could hurt reception to the north and east. They receive everything else from Kansas City just fine. Never made much sense to me but no knowing where KCTV's transmitter is actually mounted, that makes perfect sense.
One would think KCTV would have taken care of the DTV transmitter much sooner than they have. It's been a year, what is the hold up?
MadSpleen85 05-11-10, 07:53 PM Not sure if this has been posted in here before..
http://blogs.kansascity.com/tvbarn/2009/10/fox-4-news-to-go-allhd-soon.html
Appears that if they ever had this switcher they have neglected installing it.
When stations began firing up their digital systems years ago, their analogue antennas had prominent positioning on the towers. The digital antennas had to be mounted wherever there was space in some instances. Now that analogue is gone they can finally remove the analogue antennas and move the digital antennas where they need to be. What is taking so long; it has been a year? Delaying the analogue shut-off last year wreaked havic on the scheduling of tower crews all over the country. Everything had to be rescheduled. Also, did KCTV ever up its UHF transmitter power? That may be part of the planned upgrade. This time of the year is tough on reception, especially in the city; the trees are all leaved out with plenty of moisture and wind.

Just got a message on my HD Tuner this (Sunday) morning. KPXE will be on channel 238 on 7/31/2010. However, there's supposed to be a preview available now - but no channel 238 is on the channel listing. Stay tuned.
mgsports 05-16-10, 12:30 PM It should also be on 803. KMCI HD Should be on 238 you would think or MYKSMOTV Digital Sub Channel if they added one.

Trip in VA 05-16-10, 07:02 PM If I recall correctly, QVC pays the cable company for carriage. I would have a hard time seeing the cable company not having bandwidth for it. ;)

mgsports 05-16-10, 07:23 PM But on the MO side Comcast gets it on 815 in HD and not Olathe yet and like most of the TV Listings sites show it on 815 on Comcast Olathe. https://www.comcast.com/Customers/Clu/ChannelLineup.ashx?area=0 this one also shows HD On Demand Channels gone,no 97 and 146 back and now also shows like ESPN-864 to.
238 is here know in Olathe but no 803 yet the real home of KPXE HD.
I guess why the Local Channels HD aren't in the 8 Hundred's is that Comcast is waiting to see who's going to add Estrella TV,Mexicanal,If KMBC is going to added Live Well,Who's adding RTN/Universal Sports,24/7 Local News Channel KSHB or KMCI.
I would say maybe Saturday fro more Comcast changes in Olathe but no changes.
escapecar 05-19-10, 09:55 PM Palladia appeared on 1002 in TWC-land today. Can MTV-HD on 1024 be far behind?
(Yeah, like I'm going to watch MTV-HD.)
A philosophical question: Should cable companies put SD channels in the HD tier while they wait for the HD deals for those channels to be worked out? Now that I've upgaded most of the house to HD sets, I find myself less and less willing to go to the SD tier to watch the channels that aren't available in HD......
mgsports 05-20-10, 05:54 PM No KPXE HD for you guys yet so I guess TWCKC wants to wait intill other Digital Sub Channels are to be added or 7-31-10.. I would say MTV HD would go right behind Paliadia along with other Music HD Channels.
escapecar 05-21-10, 10:33 AM [QUOTE=escapecar;18660039]Palladia appeared on 1002 in TWC-land today but they really did is move Palladia HD from channel 1024 to channel 1002.
No, we have Palladia on both 1024 and 1002 for the moment. I presume that MTV-HD will take over 1024 at some point in the near future.
rickie546 05-23-10, 10:59 PM Update to Channel 4's HD progress, they have the HD studio cameras in and I have seen them. Studio Remodel is set to start within the next month or two depending or arrival of the rest of the equipment.
CosmoNut 05-24-10, 10:11 AM Update to Channel 4's HD progress, they have the HD studio cameras in and I have seen them...
I think one of them is already installed. The weather desk/weather wall camera on Karli Ritter this morning looked significantly better. The cameras at the desk don't look like they've been switched out yet.
mgsports 05-24-10, 07:17 PM Good to see that.

steve1022 05-24-10, 09:05 PM So TWC has told us what's on tap for June but what I wonder is what happened to what was supposed to happen this month. Where is my Spike HD and Nickelodeon HD????
mgsports 05-25-10, 02:34 PM Comcast Olathe users what a CSR told me they are doing stuff daily,QVC HD-815 hasen't launched yet here and this one I would like other Olathe Comcast posters to let Comcast now your not getting it to 146-CMT we are to have in the Lineup and still have 97-KCPT to.
Great news! ESPN 3D will be available on Digital Starter
channel 898, effective June 11, 2010. ESPN 3D will be
viewable to customers with HD service and a 3D
television.
puttsthree 05-26-10, 11:11 AM For the Surewest users. I did a Chat with Surewest about the whole house DVR, and they said that there was not a concrete date for when it would be available. They were told it would be offered sometime this Fall or Winter.
Ionosphere 05-27-10, 04:38 PM KCTV's signal is a lot lower today on my converter box. Are they by chance starting to work on their transmitter?
DogOfMadness 05-28-10, 03:30 PM Yes, our antenna replacement project began this week. We were on our auxiliary antenna half way up the tower at reduced power to protect the crew doing preliminary work. We just went back to the main antenna.
In about a weeks time we'll have to go back to the aux antenna for a more lengthy period of time.
Does anyone know which HD DVR TW KC is currently deploying?
mgsports 05-30-10, 07:18 PM I don't like any of the TV Listings their never up to date for Olathe,KS so isn't the Lineup on our Box because we to have like 146-CMT,not 97-KCPT and so on things but the Head end for Olathe hasn't updated the box yet so maybe somebody from Olathe,KS who has Comcast can get their hands on the exact Lineup and compare to the one on the Box they can report to Comcast Olathe,KS what we are missing and shouldn't have so they head end can fix it.
tmservo 05-30-10, 08:12 PM For some reason, I kept thinking SureWest was going to expand it's QAM lineup in April.. or May.. it appears that isn't happening. I'm more interested in that then their whole house DVR.. I already have that with MediaCenter if they just give me the QAM :)
steve1022 05-30-10, 10:00 PM Does anyone know which HD DVR TW KC is currently deploying?
I know they are deploying the brand new 320gb Cisco 8640HDC because that is what I got last time i exchanged boxes.
