Thank you so much for the links....something is already happening...this morning at 1am my SA8300HD box went on and started counting backwards...(I turn off the hard drive at night) then it rebooted...same thing with the one in the living room...so I think it's finally happening...woo hoo...
edwarto 07-01-08, 11:33 AM Maybe it was just your nightly reboot. my box reboots every night now. When I wake up its always off and reset to channel 1
llabine1 07-01-08, 04:21 PM Maybe it was just your nightly reboot. my box reboots every night now. When I wake up its always off and reset to channel 1
Really?...mine doesn't....I have the SA8300HD not HDC running on Passport...the OCAP boxes have a habit of rebooting..this is the first time this has happened...mine will refresh if I put the tuners on anything other than channel 1 before I go to bed but it is a literal split second thing....this was a full count down reboot...
Makavetis 07-01-08, 06:24 PM thats after my promos, 119 was after, used to be 100 at first. They brought up prices dont you rememeber they sent a flyer saying prices going up for eveyrthing. remote control became extra dollar, dvr boxes, eveyrhting, eveyrhting was brought up, has nothing 2 do with promos, been TWC customer 4 years now, promos ran out long ago

Yea, i have the same box as you, it usually doesn't reboot, but i am always up till 5 or 6 am and it does reboot about once a month. middle of the night they just turn it off and take about 10 min to reboot, it counts backwards from L-13. which means Loading. Usually when this is done we dont get a new channel, only minor updates are done, you will never really notice a difference. Last time i remmeber seeing a difference was October when it was rebooted and we got TBS right after

Well how about that...who knew... thanks for the info... :)
Any idea when the new HD channels will be active?
Mad Mac 07-03-08, 07:22 PM From what they're saying at:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20662880-New-HDTV-channels-in-Socal-this-fall
it's only the "TWC Legacy" areas at the moment. Former Adelphia & Comcast areas won't follow until February 2009.

That's simply not true.
While the roll out will be staggered, the former Adelphia & Comcast will not be waiting until Feb 2009. Fontana, which was first Comcast then Adelphia, will go live in October. It was to go live on July 9th, but city permit issues forced the delay.

How do we know which area we are in?
Mad Mac 07-07-08, 11:56 AM How do we know which area we are in?
Probably the best "rule of thumb" is to look at what kind of cable box you have. If it's Scientific Atlanta, then you're almost certainly TWC Legacy. Adelphia used Motorola and General Instrument, not sure about Comcast. Where are you?

Of course, I have cablecards so that doesn't hep me. :)
I'm in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area of LA.
DSperber 07-08-08, 04:19 PM Well, just checked to see if my area was to receive the 12 new HD channels tomorrow, and [sadly] the answer is NO.
Marina "former Comcast" (as well as Westchester and Hollywood, so he said) do not yet have the infrastructure upgrades complete.
Plan is for August 13 for my area.
dylan24 07-08-08, 05:04 PM Of course, I have cablecards so that doesn't hep me. :)
I'm in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area of LA.
Los Feliz/Silverlake is old Adelphia country and is in need of substantial infrastructure updates. Don't plan on seeing any new channels soon. I'll be thrilled if I'm wrong.
Makavetis 07-08-08, 06:43 PM wow im so excitedd i wonder who will post first about the new channels they got!
carljanderson 07-08-08, 10:58 PM I called, and the CSR told me that I was part of the group going tomorrow.
We shall see. He did leave me with the impression that I may not get all 12 new channels tomorrow.
infinitespecter 07-09-08, 12:05 AM I called to check and see if my area (Claremont/Pomona, former Comcast) would be getting the channels tomorrow, and the CSR assured me that by 6AM I should have all of them. We'll see.
edwarto 07-09-08, 03:18 AM I got them all at 12 midnight as i was watching TV there was no reboot
only one is missing
418 Discovery HD
all the others are there and i am in Fountain Valley

jonathank 07-09-08, 05:15 AM 2:15am and no new channels in Hollywood.
Someone above said they were told August 13th for Hollywood. Can anyone confirm that? This sucks.
jonathank 07-09-08, 06:51 AM 4am, still no channels. However, my Internet is now dead and I'm typing this on my iPhone. Thanks, twc.

Hi Dylan,
I was under the impression that our area was upgraded around 4 years ago. Reason being is that, when I started having major problems with my MOXI box, it was finally decided (after numerous tech visits and a somewhat angry call to an Eagle Rock field supervisor) that the problem was my building's now antiquated signal box. The solution, he said, was to have the building rewired to make it more compatible.
Anyway, long story short, that didn't happen and I got rid of MOXI. I may be confusing/conflating two issues, I don't know. FWIW.
slickshoes 07-09-08, 10:48 AM Well surprise surprise...I gots nothing yet... :(
beinhorn 07-09-08, 11:38 AM nothing going on in wooldland hills area as 8:38 this morn
audiomixer 07-09-08, 11:40 AM And what about Navigator in So Cal? All of this info was mailed...suppose to be happening starting the end of June and nothing. What's up? I live in Encino, by the way, in the San Fernanado Valley.
edwarto 07-09-08, 12:12 PM I am in fountain valley and have one box navigator and one box passport (the passport box broke and they gave me another passport)
Chase265 07-09-08, 12:57 PM I got all the the channels in Chino Hills
drumarr 07-09-08, 12:59 PM 9.59 am, nothing in Valencia
beinhorn 07-09-08, 01:03 PM knowing how slow tw is, I bet san fernando valley aka time warner chatsworth get launched this afternoon. last time tw added hd channels they waited till mid day. As for you former adelphia and comcast those are old legacy systems they have to be updated first. that is the reason why some tw customers have the moto or moxi boxes. ps just called time warner at 10:12 they said sherman oaks, calabasas, universal city launch today. I asked the guy about the chatsworth area and he said 9/10. Which i doubt is true.
llabine1 07-09-08, 02:16 PM I am in Westminster and I got all of mine at midnight...however deciding stupidly to have a clean slate I did a rescan of my QAM and lost 9-1,11-1 on the tv in the living room...I found the 11 HD on channel 87-84...I did NOT scan the smaller version of my Mits in the bedroom and the channels in QAM remained the same....I was just hoping that possibly some of the HD would filter on over to QAM...that has not been my experience....hopefully you will smarter than me...if it ain't broke etc....

petey1287 07-09-08, 03:08 PM Oh well, my city is not listed. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.
EDIT: Hmm, seems like the other South Bay cities arent on the list either. isnt Torrance TWC legacy?

bruce-
Looks like you may be right as Eagle Rock is listed as one of the areas scheduled for July. Anyone home in Los Feliz/Silverlake Eagle Rock head-end who can confirm if the channels arrived today?
Any reports from west Anaheim? They don't even mention a release date for the 92804 area.
I had 3 customer service reps tell me July 9 when I had called in last month. U-Verse just became available in my area this month. Hmmmmmm.
Makavetis 07-09-08, 04:48 PM wow im so pissed! no new channels here in SF Valley and now it seems like its gonna be another 2-3 months! im giving up on this company, i know its gonna take more like 4-6 months! all this wait and no channels
TruthBringR 07-09-08, 05:03 PM Newport Beach, CA?
Thousand Oaks not in the list anywhere.
Another reason to switch to FIOS.
pj
slickshoes 07-09-08, 05:18 PM Yeah, this is complete and utter BS, I'm sorry...Torrance is CWC Legacy, and we aren't even listed...I think it's time to break my rental agreement and get Dish...
kmattoo 07-09-08, 06:10 PM Anyone in Sherman Oaks get them yet? I'm at work.

Makavetis 07-09-08, 07:41 PM Nothing still in Tarzana, Encino or Woodland Hills! I guess September now! this really blows, i was so excited!

Actually, I think it depends where exactly you are because I got them all! I am very happy, I didn't expect this. :)
I'm right on the border of Los Feliz/Silverake/Atwater.
jyhy418 07-09-08, 10:40 PM Nothing here in Placentia/Fullerton.
It's funny, I called yesterday and talked to a CSR who said that it would happen today! I asked, "now, helpful TWC CSR, are you sure that it will actually happen for an old Adelphia guy? You sure it will be in my city, my apartment complex, my house tomorrow?" (Sarcasm added).
"Sure," said helpful TWC CSR. "It shows right here on my Compy 6300 that your area is scheduled to receive the upgrade on July 9."
So, just to be safe, I got his name and asked if it wasn't there if I could call him back tomorrow. He says not a problem. I called back tonight and asked for him ... no one had heard of that guy before. I asked if there was a different call center that might have him there? Nope. This would've been the center that fielded your call last night. Oh, and we have no idea when the upgrade will be coming to your area. "Have we sufficiently ruined your evening? How would you rate our level of incompetence on a scale of 1 to 10?"
............ sigh .............
Damn my Northern facing apartment and lack of FIOS network!!!

Same exact story here; I'd have pretty horrible experience with TWC before and they just installed U-verse here so...
XtremeDave 07-09-08, 11:50 PM Hmm, Canyon Country isnt even on the list, anybody know when we are gonna get the new channels?
Thanks for making me wish my Dad would just switch to DirecTV already TWC.

Now why would you have it and I don't? Do I need to cycle the box to see new channels? Are you in a former Comcast neighborhood?
bcookin 07-10-08, 12:11 AM i got them all in HB at midnight.
I noticed the new channels show up on the Windows Media Center guide when I got home from work today. I had no idea we were even close to getting them. Nice to see the new channels finally show up.
I was almost extremely happy to see Versus with at least part of an HD channel. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the Tour de France is being shot in HD. That would have really been nice.
No joy here in Gardena, CA.
I was really hoping the channels would appear this morning.
Looks like the South Bay didn't get anything.
jonathank 07-10-08, 12:46 AM FYI, I tried cycling the box. Still no love. Oh well, I guess I'm waiting until August.
Now why would you have it and I don't? Do I need to cycle the box to see new channels? Are you in a former Comcast neighborhood?
No. Former Adelphia. The Moxi had the channels good to go when I checked around 5 p.m. PDT today (Wednesday). Zip is 90046. Best wishes for a speedy addition!
i got them all in HB at midnight.
No joy in HB here...guide data but no content.
Is anyone getting the new channels with cablecards?
jonathank 07-10-08, 02:55 AM I am also in 90046. How strange is that? Also, I am back on my iPhone because my Internet, which is usually reliable, is back down. No connectivity. I wonder what the deal is. I can deal without the new channels, but this is ticking me off.
Anyone else w/o Internet?
slickshoes 07-10-08, 11:33 AM Well, I finally received the letter in the mail yesterday that said they were going to be working in my neighborhood upgrading stuff, so it looks like its going to be another long wait for Torrance, maybe by December 31st...
Chase265 07-10-08, 12:21 PM Question...is ESPNHD part of a different tier? I get everything else, but I get the Unsubscribed channel thing on espnhd.

Almost 6 months :(
danki6x 07-10-08, 01:10 PM I am very happy to have some new HD channels (city of Orange). I didn't think of this before the addition but now that I think of it I have noticed it on TBSHD/TNTHD when I end up watching something there (very rare since most in stretch-o-vision). That something is the times of the shows. The HD channels are East Coast feeds and the shows are 3 hours earlier on HD than the regular channel we get (usually marked -W for West Coast feed). Haven't researched but I suspect History and a couple others still replay the shows at both East and West coast times. Example, same show at 5PM and 8PM here. Any that do not repeat, the prime time shows end up 5-8pm instead of 8-11. Wonder what it will take or whether anyone cares that the regular and HD channels are on different time zones (I care).
/Dan
Wonder what it will take or whether anyone cares that the regular and HD channels are on different time zones (I care).Get DVR service. Then, earlier is always better.
Any word on Valencia/Santa Clarita? It shows Tujunga as August. Valencia usually follows Tujunga (the systems are closely related, going back to the MediaOne days), but some sort of confirmation would be nice.
danki6x 07-10-08, 03:33 PM Get DVR service.
Have DVR. Don't plan to look in advance everyday to see what I MIGHT have time to watch or want to watch. Rather just "scan" when interested except for what I do record to watch. Also, the limit on HD DVR capacity would start to be a problem. /Dan
llabine1 07-10-08, 04:28 PM no you don't need to cycle the box they do it for you...then the channels show up in the line up....

Valencia will not get the channels until OCTOBER 9TH !!
evilninjam0nky 07-10-08, 05:35 PM This sucks. I'm in North Hollywood (91602). Looks like I will have to wait till next month. I was so looking forward to the new channels damnit.
I'm so over TWC.
The sad part is that TWC does give a f@#k about what we think of them.

I just dropped the hammer today... ordered AT&T's U-verse. I'm tired of being TWC's red-headed stepchild. If U-Verse doesn't work out, DTV will be getting a call. It IS over TWC. <middle finger>
kmattoo 07-10-08, 07:25 PM There are a few issues I have w/ Uverse. 1) Only 1 DVR per house 2) Would have to switch to DSL.
October 9? Seriously? What utter BS.
I'm going to have to call and threaten to switch to U-verse. Maybe I can at least get a break on my bill (I'm out of the first year promotions).
If not I'll probably give U-verse a whirl. It's summer crapola on TV right now anyway so I can get by with only 2 HD streams. They dropped the usenet server, which was a big reason I didn't want to swtich from TW. U-verse internet is actually faster (10/1.5 vs 10/1). If I don't like U-Verse TV, I'll maybe go for DirecTV again.
jonathank 07-10-08, 10:24 PM Unfortunately for some of us, TW is the only possible option. No competitors and no clear line of sight for DirecTV.
I'm still having Internet issues, btw. I fixed it last night by shutting off the cable modem and router for a while. I haven't had to do that in a long time.
beinhorn 07-10-08, 11:02 PM tw's system crashed in chatsworth at like 5:45 PST. Just got my services back on ass of 8:01 pst. guess there just trying too hard to pump out the new hd channels. NOT c'mon these guys hose us left and right. so much so that the city of los angeles is suing time warmer cable. anyone in the west valley get the hd's yet?
Makavetis 07-11-08, 12:32 AM noppe nothin new in west valley. looks like we gotta wait till september
beinhorn 07-11-08, 12:56 AM yea i just called and got a $25 credit for the outages their saying sep 10 but im really hoping its sooner. Anyone in a rebuild area get the channels yet? Im talking about the rebuild back in 99 and 2000. When Tw crushed our black boxes. The thin ones baby!!! That area was tarzana, encino, sherman oaks, van nuys, universal city and surrounding areas. pretty much where across the street your neighbor had century. If your from the legacy band aka chatsworth/northridge/valencia no one has the channels yet. Anyone remember when the cable guy would come by and you would run out into the street after he left to make sure he didnt put the filters back on? Those were the days, cat and mouse with the cable guy! The dude from century hated our block.

I had 3 customer service reps tell me July 9 when I had called in last month. U-Verse just became available in my area this month. Hmmmmmm.
In 92804 also and nothing here either. Although tonight my internet keeps going out so maybe they're about to destroy something so they can improve it.
infinitespecter 07-11-08, 01:45 AM After a long call to TWC to find out what was going on, they are now projecting Claremont will get the channels sometime in August. If we don't, I'm moving to DirecTV. I'm sick of TWC.
jyhy418 07-11-08, 02:23 AM I just wanted to pass along a reply from TWC when I emailed and told them that I was extremely frustrated that I 1)didn't get the new channels when it was promised by the CSR Rep, 2)was planning on switching to Dish or DirectTV (Though this was mostly an empty threat as I have no line of site and no VIOS options), 3)was wondering when they would get it to our area:
"Thank you for your inquiry. We would be happy to assist you. Beginning July 9, 2008 through February 2009, the launches for the new channels will begin. Some of these channels include HGTV HD 433, Food Network HD 434, CNN HD 432, History Channel HD 439, A&E HD 439, Golf/Versus HD 423,Discovery HD 418, TLC HD 437, Disney Channel HD 435, ABC Family HD 436, ESPNews HD 426, and National Geographic HD 440 will be launched in all areas. HD equipment is required to receive High Definition channels. We would be very sorry to hear you would leave us, but at this time, there is no exact date of the launch of each channel. In all areas however, the lauch will begin as of July 9. If there is anything else we can helpplease respond to this email or contact customer service at the number listed below. "
This is just classic! I love TWC. Why wouldn't they be more clear?

crime warner spews so much b.s. out of their mouths. all of their emails look like "madlibs" with just places that the csr typed in my name, address, and the area i am in. Gotta love being subscribed to a company that could give a s*** about their customers
Yeah, they really need to just fire everyone and start over. I still can't get them to give me a date when they'll have it up and running in the Fullerton area, and it's not on the list of cities, so I'm just going to assume it'll be February 2009. *sigh*
If they keep this up they're going to lose a loooot of customers.
Question...is ESPNHD part of a different tier? I get everything else, but I get the Unsubscribed channel thing on espnhd.
It shouldn't be. I've had ESPNHD and ESPN2HD since December. I don't get the new channels yet (and it's not clear if I ever will--it depends on whether I ask TW's email or TW's phone rep).
Both ESPNs and most of the new channels are listed as part of "Basic Cable" and "Variety Tier" on the Time Warner channel lineup for Orange County:

Customer Service just told me the new HD channels for my area (Arcadia) will be available on November 12. That's 4 months from now. <sigh>
I no longer work for time warner, but i heard the problem with the new channels in some areas is closed caption. the new advance encoding equipment had some issues handling cc and that has delayed the deployment of these channels. Also I heard that they have made much progress with the upgrade to 1 ghz, so this and the addition of advance encoders, should mean much more HD in the near future. Finally, those of you complaining about pulsing in the HD feeds should know that these new encoders are going to take care of that.
mythofpower 07-13-08, 04:15 PM Does anybody know about QAM channel for KOCE HD? It was 74.1 in Fullerton, now I could not find it

Carl,
Downtown LA is changing allot, you should peak your head out of the orange curtain and check out downtown LA sometime :)

Eric,
Bummer deal, you had been our inside man for many years with Comcast and TW here in SoCal. Hopefully you are enjoying the change.
Now as to the new encoders helping, I'll believe when I see it. I've been told that for pushing a year and a half now with consistent macroblocking on several of the HD channels, as you and I have talked over the years.
Hope to see you still hanging out around here.
Jeff

That sucks. I've been waiting 4 years for this and now I have to wait another 3 months. I'm hoping that's true - where'd you hear that from? CSRs couldn't give me a date so hopefully if they gave you one it means they're getting the ball rolling.

my natgeo hd feed is just the disney channel station twice. my recording of some planet earth ripoff ended up being hannah montana.

I am your neighbor in Westminster and I get everything including the ones you are missing...HGTVHD has turned into "Fat head" HD with everything looking stretched like some other HD stations....I will say that I am enjoying the East Coast feed on the new stations which makes recording easier...Last night I watched Design Star at 6pm freeing me up to record something else at 9pm....same holds true for Saving Grace and The Closer ....this is nice...
NatGeoHD is beautiful....so is CNN if you can take Larry King in HD :)
ReidWings 07-14-08, 11:33 PM my natgeo hd feed is just the disney channel station twice. my recording of some planet earth ripoff ended up being hannah montana.
I had that last night too. It seemed to switch back and forth. early in the day it was Natgeo HD, then in the early evening it was a duplicate of Disney, then later in the night it was natgeo again.
I just ordered U-Verse. I am taking my triple-play business elsewhere. I just find it unacceptable to tease us with new HD channels and only to find out you're in the back of the bus (October!) days *AFTER* the supposed release. AT&T is offering around $300 worth of credit (200+25+1 free month) to give it a try and there's no contract, so I might as well give it a spin.
U-verse just got USAHD and Sci Fi HD (and Bravo and CNBC HD).
Plus I think it will be fun to play with a more modern STB UI. I'm really tired of this 6416 and its idiosyncracies. I'm sure I'll be trading it for lots of new ones.
Also I heard that they have made much progress with the upgrade to 1 ghz, so this and the addition of advance encoders, should mean much more HD in the near future. I heard the 1ghz updates do nothing for us in the near term for HD, because the "old" STBs cannot tune up into that range.

zapbranighan 07-15-08, 02:39 AM Talked to a customer service rep today to change my digital tier. I asked him when will west Anaheim (92801) will get the new HD channels. He said August 1st.
DSperber 07-15-08, 04:50 AM I just ordered U-Verse. I am taking my triple-play business elsewhere. AT&T is offering around $300 worth of credit (200+25+1 free month) to give it a try and there's no contract, so I might as well give it a spin.Well if price were the only criteria for acquiring stuff, there are many things I wouldn't have acquired. For example, can't be cheaper than "free" but if it comes with advertisement bombardment, I'm not your target customer.
According to this blog (http://techbuddha.wordpress.com/2007/10/21/att-u-verse-universally-sucks/) by a very very humorous/angry U-Verse switchee (switched back to Comcast after 2 days of extreme frustration, especially with non-existent Customer Service) perhaps it's not quite ready for prime time.
Although I'm not in an AT&T area, I was curious to get more details... especially about their 4-tuner DVR. Well the web site pretty much refused to provide ANY information whatsoever, because I had to enter my zip code to progress through the dialog and since AT&T is not my area's phone provider the web site "shut down", responding "check back at a future date" or "call between hours of 8AM-6PM" or whatever.
I was able to at least determine that their fastest-speed DSL Internet connection was only 3MB ($29.95/month for the first year, probably going up by $10/month after that). That would already be a deal-breaker for me.
I still have no idea what kind of DVR they use, or if 1394-firewire output (for D-VHS recording) is available and active (as it theoretically must be, if they're obeying FCC rules... but who knows). If not, that would again be a deal-breaker for me (I must have D-VHS recording capability).
Much as I'd love to have a 600GB DVR with four tuners and 70 HD channels, I've learned to get along quite satisfactorily with my 3416 and its non-Tivo interface and limitations. I've waited a long time for more than 24 HD channels, and I can wait a bit longer (August for my initial 12 new HD channels).
I simply would not consider AT&T for anything, aside from formerly excellent AT&T telephones... which they stopped making about 10 years ago when they sold that division to Lucent which promptly started producing garbage, until they too stopped making telephones.
bruce73 07-15-08, 12:07 PM I just bought a new TV which has a built-in QAM tuner, something new for me. So I've split my cable feed, sending one to my STB and the other directly to the TV. After scanning for channels, the TV shows me the list and I can then weed out the scrambled channels. So far I've only located KCAL-HD and MOHO-HD. Are the other local HD channels in there somewhere? What about upper tier digitals like 292 (TMC)? And I gather that QAM channels can go in and out and move around, right?
I'm in Los Feliz (Eagle Rock), if anyone in my area can help.
Sorry for the newbie questions, just trying to figure this thing out.
llabine1 07-15-08, 03:29 PM Bruce sometimes it takes a couple of scans to get the old reliable HD channels...also I have found HD channels such as Fox in unusual places so be sure the scroll through all your channels...time consuming but worth it....my HD channels come through both my Mits with clear QAM...when the new channels were added last week I only scanned the one in the living room and it eliminated ABC...NBC....Fox...and KCAL which used to be on 7-1...4-1...11-1....and 9-1...I scanned twice and still could not find them I smartly left the bedroom one alone and it still remained the same...but I did eventually find them in the upper channels hiding....for instance 7-1 ABCHD is now 87-85....so get yourself a cup of coffee...scan one more time and then slowly go through every single channel...the QAM channels are different in all areas so mine may not help you....good luck it will be worth it....
As for the U-verse my next door neighbor tried it...loathed it...freezing pictures...pixaltion...and no customer support what so ever she now is back to TW....makes TimeWarner look pretty darn good...the one good thing is you have not signed up for a long contract so you can try it and cancel it without selling your soul....

OK, very cool. I just wanted to make sure that the local HDs weren't scrambled as a rule, before I set out. :)

Recieved a flyer in the mail for U-Verse and they make it very clear in footnotes in two places that the DVR can only handle one HD station at a time. If I read it right that includes viewing as well as recording. A major deal breaker in my book.

jgmiller 07-16-08, 01:06 AM AT&T really can't get out of their own way these days. I used to use AT&T T1's exclusively in businesses and now I use anyone but them. The funny/sad thing is that even though I use say Qwest or Covad for a T1 now the loop is still AT&T but the customer service is the other vendor and even having to go through a third party things get resolved quicker than dealing directly with AT&T. A few times vendors have let me listen when they're calling them to deal with a problem and basically it consists of the vendor screaming at an AT&T tech until they agree to fix the problem.
So TWC is saying 8/01 for 92801, I'm in 92804 just next door so hopefully that includes us too. That is if 8/01 is real.
WackyPacks 07-16-08, 02:17 AM In Eagle Rock, the local HD's via QAM are:
KCBS, KNBC - 93.XX
KABC, KTTV, KCET - 94.XX

For a list of all the QAM channels, this list is relatively accurate for now as TW seems to enjoy playing musical chairs with the unencrypted channels.

Hi there, I received a flyer a month or two ago about new HD channels
arriving and read on various websites it was supposed to begin July 9th,
but have yet to receive them. On your programming alerts page, Torrance
isn't even listed. This is very frustrating because I have been waiting
for more HD forever, as well as many other people I'm sure. Can you
please give me an update on this, Direct TV and Dish Network, have tons
more HD than you guys, with incredible promotions like free hbo,
cinemax, and showtime for a year, at a much cheaper rate, thank you.

Thank you for your inquiry, we would be more than glad to assist you
with your concerns regarding our HD Channels. Unfortunately the specific

Rangers4me 07-17-08, 02:10 PM Anyone know when the new HD channels will launch in Santa Monica?
markt170 07-17-08, 04:20 PM I've had the new HD channels in Encino 91436 for about a week. Some observations:
CNN has hardly any programming in HD. Someone commented on how bad Larry King looks in HD, but his show is not in HD, so he must look even worse.
CNN is the only channel that is simulcast with its non-HD channel. In my inexact analysis, the other channels are not linked in any coherent way to their non-HD channels. For example, what's on Food HD is not the same as the non-HD Food network, nor is it simply the East coast feed of that network. I thought I'd be able to eliminate the non-HD channels from my favorites list, they are entirely different networks, with only some common programs on at different times.
Nat Geog HD has some good looking HD content, and so does Discovery HD and History HD, but there's not a lot of content and many repeats. I discovered the program about the guy who does dirty jobs -- pretty cool show.
A&E HD has The Sopranos in stretched format which makes no sense. That network really has almost nothing to offer.
ESPN News HD and Vs/GOlf HD are not very useful either. Tour de France was not in HD, and the British Open is on TNT HD.
But, glad to have more HD anyway.

CNN's HD content has grown over time. It depends on the originating Studio. I think DC and NY are in HD, I may be wrong. Some of their special documentaries are also in HD. The ticker always is so the text is real clear.

petey1287 07-17-08, 06:49 PM I emailed TWC and the new HD channels launch date for my area (Carson) is December 17, 2008.
Seems like a long way.
jschuur 07-18-08, 01:26 AM Per their customer support rep, Santa Ana 92707 is getting the new HD channels on November 12th, 2008. A little later than I had hoped.
Kablemodem 07-18-08, 03:07 PM Still nothing new in Sherman Oaks.....sad...so very sad.
I live in Sherman Oaks too, but I am under the East San Fernando channel lineup, which isn't scheduled to change until August:
Available in August:
East San Fernando Valley, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Panorama City, Sun Valley, Van Nuys, Tujunga, Sunland, Kagel Canyon, Sylmar, Beverly Hills, Marina del Rey, West Hollywood, West Los Angeles, Hemet, Idyllwild, parts of Murrieta, San Jacinto, Temecula, Winchester
I don't know if there is a separate lineup for Sherman Oaks. The announcement is very confusing.
eddy_winds 07-18-08, 03:16 PM Why is Carson & Torrance a month apart? The two cities are next door to each other..
synchron 07-19-08, 02:09 PM Hi -
VOD had been not working on my system for over a month - kept coming up several error codes - call 888TWCABLE. At any rate, a tech came out and couldn't get it to work so swapped out boxes. The new STB also was having problems accessing VOD but after asking TW for special codes to hit the box, it eventually worked.
Since he left there are still intermittent issues with my VOD. At times, it works normal and then there are time when it literally doesn't work and RESETS the STB causing the Guide to goto 0 and the system message count down to 0. This is atrocious and frustrating! I'm wondering if this is the box or if it's a neighborhood thing and has anyone experienced this before?
TIA,
Synchron
Has anyone got the date for the new HD channels launch in Playa del Rey 90293? Westchester 90045, and Hollywood are usually the same if anyone has those dates. Has anyone tried getting the HD Tier fee waved while we wait, and wait, and wait? If I find out before anyone answers, I'll post.
DSperber 07-19-08, 08:24 PM Has anyone got the date for the new HD channels launch in Playa del Rey 90293? Westchester 90045, and Hollywood are usually the same if anyone has those dates. Don't know if my former-Comcast Marina Del Rey location is also Playa Del Rey, but it has always been equal to Westchester/Hollywood.
I was told August 13th is the date for me.
YMMV.
edwarto 07-20-08, 01:50 AM I heard from a tech that you need a good signal strengh for VOD to work i was having all kinds of problems with it. then they put an amplifier in and it got better. then they came and ripped up my front yard put in new cable to the house and decided my signal strengh was good and did not need the amp now i am getting all kind of stuttering on the hd channels
jnance88 07-21-08, 12:09 PM I hate TWC.
Here's what transpired last week.
my email:
I'm writing to you today out of frustration. I understand that new HD
channels have been rolling out in various areas throughtout the last
couple weeks. You also have a listing of approximate dates that areas
will have the new HD channels available, but my area is not listed at
all. Can you give me an approximate date that Lawndale will be getting
the new HD channels. I have 3 neighbors that have been on my case to
just bite the bullet and get DirecTv. I currently pay around $75 a
month for less HD channels than they have. If I sign up for DTV, I'd be
paying around $55 the first year for a better package than what TWC is
offering me now. And when the first year is over, it would still be a
few dollars less for more channels.
I don't expect anything other than a standard form response from TWC,
which is typical, but maybe it can be noted on my account that unless
TWC does something soon, you'll be losing a customer.
their response:
Thank you for your inquiry. We are happy to answer your questions in
regards to our Hi Def broadcasting. As a leader in technology, Time
Warner Cable constantly strives to meet consumer demands and drive
market trends. One of the hottest technologies in the cable market today
is high definition television. We are not just striving for quantity,
but also quality, as these channels received the highest satisfactions
ratings for HD services.
We apologize for any inconvenience in regards to this issue. We will be
adding lots of new HD programming upon completion of our network
integration projects. CNN, History Channel, Discovery, TLC, Disney
Channel, ESPNews, Golf, A&E, ABC Family, HGTV, National Geographic , and
Food Network are examples of that HD programming. We will begin
launching these channels between 07/09/08 to 02/2009.
Although we are attempting to provide the best service possible, we have
not achieved the same licensing agreements with networks that your
previous carrier had established. Time Warner Cable pays license fees to
networks in order for us to bring the content to customers. We are
working hard to reach an agreement with these networks and will work as
long as we must to make sure it's a fair deal for our customers. TWC is
committed to providing all customers offers that are a good value and
will resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind, we
had similar negotiations with dozens of other programmers and were able
to finalize a deal to continue carrying other favorite channels. If you

thanks for answering my question? haha
next email from me:
Thank you, I guess, for the standard form letter response (and I know it's a form letter, because you talk about previous carriers, when I have only had TWC. Talk about a personal response.) But you still didn't answer my question. On your website here: can't post URL's. You have various cities listed and the approximate dates they are receiving the new HD channels. and then you have this statement: "If you do not see your neighborhood listed, please check back or call us at 1-888-TWCABLE."
So, my neighborhood of Lawndale is not listed. So, I'm contacting you to find out when it is receiving the new HD channels.
and an answer:
Thank you for your inquiry, we would be more than glad to assist you
with your concerns regarding our HD Channel launch dates. First of all
we want to apologize for not answering your question in your previous
email inquiry. The expected launch date for HD Channels in Lawndale is
November 12. Thank you for your patience.

Kablemodem 07-22-08, 04:00 PM The July date is for the part we don't live in.
My bill says San Fernando Valley East on it. I doubt there is actually a Sherman Oaks area, but there may be sections that were part of a different system under an old operator and their equipment wasn't in as sorry as state as the rest.

Still would not be in HD. Only 1 FSN HD channel. At least you get KCAL HD for many Dodgers games. Angels fans have to watch on KCOP when not on FSN. Talk about bad SD. Dan

E* (Dish Network) Appears to be rolling out a brand new set of HD only packages, and now they do include Regional Sports Networks. The packages will become available August 1st, and the details are still trickling in. Here is the thread for the latest info:

Rangers4me 07-23-08, 03:13 PM Anyone know if you can get GameHD or TeamHD to watch MLB Extra Innings/NHL Center Ice game in HD on TWC in Santa Monica? If so, what channel?

nycnigel 07-24-08, 12:53 AM Hello all, just moved to LA. On August 1st we will be moving into a new apt in Marina del Ray. Just came from Brooklyn and had hoped to stay away from Crime Warner but wondered if anyone might be able to help with a few queries when making our choice for internet and tv. I know this is a HD forum....ill try and add a hd question into the mix. Thanks.
The apt building that I am moving into only has one feed and two choices. TWC TV & Internet OR D* and DSL. Having our own dish is not an allowed option. I dont want DSL. I think im stuck with TWC.
1) I'm confused by all the different tiers. In Brooklyn you paid for one digital service. Are all the channels included on standard digital package? Obviously not including premiums.
2) I'm specifically interested in getting the channel Gol TV(english language version) and espn deportes. What selections would i need for those. The website and rep i spoke to contradicted one another. The rep said I would only need the sports tier. The website says espanol. If espanol I notice that Gol tv is listed on two different channels. Is one in English?
3) TIVO HD(see i told you) - Anyone got it up and running painfree with an MCARD? Do any of the regular channels and/or HD Channels have issues?
Thanks for your help.

If you have an option of Verizon DSL check if you're in the 7MB down zone. That may help your decision making.

I checked its 3M max. I also assume i would have to have a phone line which i don't want.

You can get "Naked DSL" (no phone) but no bundle pricing. Often, though you can get bundle pricing with some satellite offerings. Too bad on the DSL speed, I recently got 7 here in West LA and it's so much faster. The other option maybe FiOS from Verizon, can you get that?

That was my hope moving out of NY. No dice on FIOS.
I think the naked dsl pricing is $43.
When i move in i am going to try and talk them into sending another wire to the apt.
Where did all these 8xx numbered channels come from and what are they + why are they there? Some are in Espanol, some authorized, and some not. I was waiting for the new HDs (albeit in 3 more months) but suddenly I scolled down (or is it up?) and there they are.

All those 8xx numbered channel are part of a new Spanish Channels tier.
El Paquetazo package and El Paquetazo Dos tier will be launched in areas where currently not available. El Paquetazo package will be available for $34.95 per month, plus equipment and included in this package are Broadcast Basic services, Espanol tier services, El Paquetazo Dos Tier services, and selected English networks. El Paquetazo Dos tier is also available a la carte for $5 per month with subscription to Nuestra Tele Paquete.

1) No, you have to look through there list and select the tier(s) that have the channels you want. Depending on your choices, you can get most of the "basic" channels with the variety tier, for example.
3) I don't want to say I had trouble getting it up, but getting it installed and configured wasn't painfree. I've had an MCARD (Scientific Atlanta) running happily since December. Two truckrolls and about 20 ph*******s in December, plus a few more calls and a truckroll (so he could make another phone call) to get the new channels last week.

I too spent time programming new favorite channels last night and as late as the 5 o'clock hour today TWC was screwing around with the quam channels again because KNBC-DT came in on 4-1 breifly but now everything seems to be back to "normal".I guess TWC are completely oblivious to everyone receiving clearquam as these signals are routed automatically to the 400 tier to everyone with cableboxes and cablecard equipment.
alaindelon 07-29-08, 11:00 PM I just checked the Dodgers-Giants game on FSN-HD and there is still terrible pulsation artifacts going on right now.Someone in this thread had mentioned that TWC would get new encoders that would eliminate this problem around the time the new HD channels were added.Obviously there is more work to be done.

SonicEndeavor 08-02-08, 02:16 AM Hi all,
I'm in the planning stages to upgrade my home theater from an SD CRT to a 50-52" HD 1080p flat panel (probably LCD due to a wall of windows behind me) and I'm wondering about the overall quality of the TWC HD channels (and SD).
I'm in Huntington Beach.
Do the local HD channels look decent and is the picture solid, or will I experience artifacts & blocking & outages?
Are they using heavy compression or is it full HD? (hopefully that's the right terminology :) )
I'd hate to go backwards from a solid steady picture to something that looks worse and is unstable.
Judging from how flakey my internet connection has been lately, I'm wondering how stable the HD TV feed is.
If it's not good, is DirecTV any better?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Well, it looks like I'll be getting KCOP HD in September, which means I'll have it in time for when WWE SmackDown! moves back there in October.

CaCHooKa Man 08-11-08, 10:17 PM just upgraded to digital cable and got myself an HD box. they gave me the motorola dch-3200 which is nice cause i didnt think they had those available. i just checked to see if the firewire is enabled and it says it is so i guess that means i can record programs on my pc that arent protected. some of the HD channels look really compressed though. could it be because of the new olympics channels they added?
Anyone still getting FSN HD or Prime Ticket HD through clear QAM?
CaCHooKa Man 08-11-08, 10:34 PM Anyone still getting FSN HD or Prime Ticket HD through clear QAM?
its not gonna be available during the olympics. theyve changed the channel that displays FSN HD and FSN PT HD (HD special events channel) to the olympics soccer channel.

CaCHooKa Man 08-12-08, 06:17 PM is anyone else not getting ESPN2HD? ever since i got my box its the only channel that hasnt been working. at first i thought it was blacked out for the dodgers game last night but it still isnt working today.

I am in Westminster in the O.C. and my ESPN2HD is working...try rebooting the box...you can do this by uplugging it or hold down the power button until it says boot...sometimes I will lose stations and a reboot miraculously brings them back...
DSperber 08-12-08, 07:49 PM is anyone else not getting ESPN2HD? ever since i got my box its the only channel that hasnt been working. at first i thought it was blacked out for the dodgers game last night but it still isnt working today.Call TWC and ask them to "reset" your box, from their end (I think that may also involve causing a firmware download to the box, which will NOT cause any loss of existing DVR recordings so don't worry).
Many months back I had the same problem you're describing and their reset solved the problem. It was not solved by the usual "pull the plug and re-boot". It was only solved when they reset things from their end.
WLA TWC former Adelphia, has a new channel line up so re scan your TV's folks we just got USA HD added and Universal HD along with a few other NBC broadcasts.

Can you post the numbers you're getting them on? Thanks! :D
I forgot. These were discussed earlier but are now lost in space.
These are the Olympic channels.
Kablemodem 08-13-08, 05:34 AM I've got all of the new HD channels now.
jonathank 08-13-08, 10:13 AM I thought Hollywood was supposed to get the new channels as of August 13th? I don't have them on either box in the house.
It's bad enough they're taking away USA HD after the Olympics... grr.
WeHoMyke 08-13-08, 11:28 AM We got all the new HD Channels this morning in West Hollywood. :D All of them are coming in clear, except KTLA was breaking up a little this morning.
423 Golf/Versus HD
426 ESPNews HD
432 CNN HD
433 HGTV HD
434 Food Network HD
435 Disney Channel HD
436 ABC Family HD
437 TLC HD
438 A&E HD
439 History HD
440 National Geographic HD
I wish we can keep USAHD after the Olympics.
movieman_78 08-13-08, 01:02 PM We also received all of the new HD channels this morning in North Hollywood.
audiomixer 08-13-08, 01:25 PM Encino, anyone? 91436?
llabine1 08-13-08, 04:21 PM Just saw channel 410 which is KCOPHD...it showed up this morning here in the O.C. ...now if it only had decent programming...
DSperber 08-13-08, 04:32 PM Just saw channel 410 which is KCOPHD...it showed up this morning here in the O.C.I KNEW this had not been present before! I thought maybe my mind was doing strange things, because none of the other HD channels scheduled for arrival today had appeared. As you point out, however... not much to watch on KCOP.
I just called TWC and they confirmed that Marina Del Rey (former Comcast) was definitely supposed to receive the new HD channels today, but for me they did not. Reset from their end and reboot at my end did not bring the new channels online... although as I mentioned above, I do now have KCOP on 410.
Service call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, to see what's going on and why the new channels are not appearing.
danki6x 08-13-08, 05:25 PM WLA TWC former Adelphia, has a new channel line up so re scan your TV's folks we just got USA HD added and Universal HD along with a few other NBC broadcasts.
They will be gone or scrambled again (UHD) after the Olympics. /Dan
jonathank 08-13-08, 05:59 PM Still nothing here. There's some confusion as to whether I'm West LA or West Hollywood for their purposes.
Regardless, I don't have the new channels. I'm being told it could "just take a little longer." That sounds like BS to me because the 450/451 channels appeared exactly when they were supposed to.
You guys often know more than the people working at TWC. What's the deal? Why haven't I received the new channels as I was supposed to? The tech reset my boxes to no effect.
SPDICKEY 08-13-08, 06:36 PM Rescanned my HD sets since some QAMs were missing this morning and found some new stuff on here in West LA, former Adelphia. New HDs as above, also the QAM assignments have all changed around. And now dozens of in the clear QAMs are on.
HDs from off air are now mapped to be on their regular broadcast numbers. I'm sure its channel mapping, not actual channel assignments since there isn't room for a HD and a SD on the same VHF analog number.
for the HD broadcasts on QAM (not the set top box)
2-1 kCBS HD
4-1 kNBC HD
5-1 KTLA HD
7-1 KABC HD
9-1 KCAL HD
11-1 KTTV HD (Fox)
28-1 KCET HD
50-1 KOCE HD
Working that way on both my little Polaroid HD set and my big Samsung HDTV.
Too many QAMs to try to identify, but it looks like all the off-airs, and most of the basic cable SD's are there in digital. Feels like I moved to a new cable system!
TheKing75 08-13-08, 08:59 PM City Of Orange now has KCOP-HD on 410. I guess they got it working a month early or just forgot to put Orange on the August list. They could have
used the Olympics as an opportunity to move it to the more logical 413, with that Soccer channel kicking out FSN-HD anyway, but at least it's there.
Of course they don't show baseball in HD, they might have 1 or 2 TV shows in HD (that Flava Flav show might be), but come October it will be the home for SmackDown!, so that's something.

DSperber,
I'm in the former Adelphia area of the marina, and to my great surprise I got the following channels today...
418 DSCHD
423 VSGLF
426 ESPNNEWS
432 CNNHD
433 HGTVHD
434 FOODHD
435 DISHD
436 FAMHD
437 TLCHD
438 A&EHD
439 HISHD
440 NGCHD
petey1287 08-13-08, 11:33 PM I just got KCOP-HD (Ch. 410) in my area but I get the "Not Authorized" message
I'll just wait and see. Probably call TWC soon to reset the box, even though not that much interesting content to watch on KCOP, I'll watch WWE Smackdown! which is coming soon.
kmattoo 08-13-08, 11:54 PM Got the channels in Sherman Oaks as well. Of course DirecTV installs on Monday, so this will tide me over for 5 days!
jonathank 08-14-08, 01:36 AM Can ANYONE in West Los Angeles confirm that they received the new HDTV channels?
According to technical support and customer service, I should have received the channels today. No dice.
SPDICKEY 08-14-08, 02:05 AM West LA or Hollywood? Former Adelphia or Comcast?
jonathank 08-14-08, 04:47 AM Technically West LA. The tech guy says my zip code pulled up West Hollywood in their system, though. Both areas should have received the new channels.
As for your second question, I don't know. I recently moved to the area. My TWC office is the Cahuenga office, not the one on Santa Monica Blvd.. I know that answers your question, but I'm not sure which one that means I am.
carljanderson 08-14-08, 11:52 AM NHL Network on Ch. 275 in Huntington Beach (not HD, but hey.. getting closer!! :) ). I received 410 sometime this week as well.
slickshoes 08-14-08, 12:55 PM Got 410 in Torrance yesterday...its 13-1 QAM...

440 NGCHDWell, the TWC guy came out today. Never heard of these channels (I printed him a list, for posterity)!
He called his supervisor and dispatch. Never heard of these channels. (Amazing!)
After repeated screaming at him (so that his supervisor could hear through the stupid walkie-talkie they were conversing over) the supervisor went to "check something".
Came back and said "November 12th for my area".
WTF?????????????
I'd only called four times over the last three weeks, trying to get confirmation that Aug 13th was the date for my account. "YES, YES... WE HAVE NOTHING TO THE CONTRARY" was always the reply, including as recently as Tuesday.
Even yesterday, Aug 13th, when I called to ask why the channels hadn't appeared, the answer was "don't know, we have nothing to the contrary, I'll schedule a service call on Thursday to see what's wrong". So apparently as recently as YESTERDAY nobody knew anything other than that Aug 13th looked like it was till on.
Now, amazingly, suddenly there's information that shows only Adelphia/MDR scheduled for Aug 13th. Comcast/MDR (or at least my neighborhood), and probably also for Westchester and Hollywood, now appears to be Nov 13th.
I'm not happy.
Looks like West LA (former Adelphia) got the new channel sequence. 2-1 4-1 etc. I couldn't direct tune so I'm scanning now. My old QAM channels are gone. Will report results when scan is over.
Yup, we got it! I got some Harmony programming to do!
Fred C. Dobbs 08-14-08, 03:15 PM I'm in Brentwood,
and the channels came on line yesterday.
Is anyone receiving KCOP 410?

DSperber 08-14-08, 03:28 PM Apparently, there's a "rollout schedule" page (http://www.timewarnercable.com/SoCal/Products/HDTV.html) that provides the following information:

Unfortunately, what's shown as "Marina Del Rey" really means former Adelphia. Also note no Westchester, Hollywood or MDR(Comcast).
That means November AT THE EARLIEST (barring some miracle suprise) for all neighborhoods not listed above. And yet, even that's contradicted by the above report of new channels in Brentwood, which is not listed either... unless Brentwood is considered "West Los Angeles".
You'd think they could have made this list available by zip code, as they did when they had the channel lineup change... if they really wanted to provide useful information to us.
Grrrr....
I suppose they'll update that "new HD channels" rollout schedule page. Hopefully, more than 12 channels may appear in the future.
audiomixer 08-14-08, 03:52 PM Encino? 91436?
jonathank 08-14-08, 04:33 PM I just called TWC and spoke to a customer service rep because the channels still haven't shown up. According to the guy I spoke to, August 13th was the "start date" for the roll out in my area and it could take up to another week to get the channels. I'm not sure why that would be the case if all they do is flip a setting on the computer, but that's what he said.
I guess we'll see.
Kablemodem 08-14-08, 04:46 PM I'm not happy.
Most of the content on these channels is in Stretch-o-vision, so you are not missing out on too much.
jonathank 08-14-08, 04:48 PM Now, amazingly, suddenly there's information that shows only Adelphia/MDR scheduled for Aug 13th. Comcast/MDR (or at least my neighborhood), and probably also for Westchester and Hollywood, now appears to be Nov 13th.
I'm not happy.
I just saw your post. So how do we tell if we're former Adelphia or Comcast? I moved here recently and it was already TWC. The guy not even 10 minutes ago insisted I should have gotten the channels yesterday but it may take a week to show up. That sounds bogus to me.
Between the crappy channel selection and frequent Internet outages, I'm ready to scream. I can't get FIOS here and I'm facing the wrong way to get satellite.
Im in Granada Hills and my gf in North Hollywood got all the HD channels today. Woohoo!
Video Engineer 08-14-08, 08:12 PM Anyone else in Camarillo seeing low signal level on Ch 410?
CaCHooKa Man 08-14-08, 10:35 PM finally my ESPN2 HD is working
CaCHooKa Man 08-15-08, 12:43 AM hmm.. i seem to have lost a couple channels on my TVs connected directly to the wall outlets. the tv guide channel no longer works on them but it still works with my hd box. does this have anything to do with my espn 2 hd finally starting to work?
Nvermind, we didn't get it in the Granada Hills area yet:mad: Does anybody when it will be up in the Chatsworth area????
* nvermind, it will be available in september :(
petey1287 08-15-08, 03:05 AM hmm.. i seem to have lost a couple channels on my TVs connected directly to the wall outlets. the tv guide channel no longer works on them but it still works with my hd box. does this have anything to do with my espn 2 hd finally starting to work?
Same thing happened to me. My TV in my room is connected directly from the wall outlet, I only get Ch. 2-23, 25, 31, 35, 36 and 69. The rest is scrambled. Now the TV Guide Channel (Ch. 31) and the rest (channels that were scrambled) went off except the channels that I listed I only get. This happened last month. All the channels are working on the HD box in the living room though.
DSperber 08-15-08, 04:27 PM Comcast/MDR (or at least my neighborhood), and probably also for Westchester and Hollywood, now appears to be Nov 12th.
I'm not happy. This experience prompted a call to TWC yesterday, to speak with "The Man" in charge of this rollout... or at least responsible for maintaining the HD Products rollout announcement page (http://www.timewarnercable.com/SoCal/Products/HDTV.html) on their web site that describes their plans and schedule. The call was very productive.
At 6PM last night I received a call back telling me that they'd had a meeting with the engineers a few hours earlier, and determined that it WAS actually possible to deliver the 12 new HD channels earlier than the previously scheduled Nov 12th to the former-Comcast areas of Marina Del Rey, Hollywood, and Westchester. These areas apparently had a more modern infrastructure than other areas and thus could be completed on a "fast track".
He thought I'd like the good news... that the delivery date for these three areas (one of which is mine) is now Aug 27th (two weeks from yesterday), instead of Nov 12th as originally planned.
I thought he said this information would be posted on the "rollout schedule" page (see above for link) by noon today, but I just checked and see no difference from yesterday announcing this special exception. I left a voice message asking him to confirm what he told me last night, and that there's been no change-of-heart since our conversation of last night.
So... if all holds true it looks like for me (and others in these three former-Comcast neighborhood) that it will now be Aug 27th instead of Nov 12th.
Mad Mac 08-15-08, 04:46 PM TW says:
*KCOP HD has been launched in the following areas:....... Moorpark........
Really....wish they'd tell my QAM tuners where it is, because they can't find it.
petey1287 08-15-08, 07:14 PM Wow, Im confused or shocked now. They moved the new HD channels launch date in my area from December 17, 2008 to this month August.
EDIT: I'm in a former Comcast area.
http://www.timewarnercable.com/SoCal/Products/HDTV.html
TonyW79SFV 08-15-08, 09:29 PM The new HD channels (i.e. Golf/Versus HD, CNN HD, Food Network HD, and more!) have appeared in the East San Fernando Valley in conjunction with the currently running Olympics channels. Talk about a huge gift from TWC! I only got Digital Cable and the HD basic package a month ago.
