I love games. Unfortunately, I'm not 12, well, at least not physically (33). I got the whole job and family thing happening. Usually, if I'm lucky, I can get on Live on a weekend. Sometimes it goes a lot longer, especially if I use some of my gaming time to play great single player stuff or if buddies come over and we're doing the SC2 thing.

I'd love to be on a bunch of friends lists of AVSers so that when I do go online, I can know there's some good people that won't clan the hell out of me. So, if y'all want to add me or I can add you... great! But I may not be around all that much at times. When I am, I can promise that I'm a good guy to play with.

I'm thinking it can kind of be like that old friends thing. You know, you don't see the guy for years, but when you do, you just pick up where you left off... grab a beer and have some good laughs.

I'm 30, and have only played xbox Live a few times since August. Had some pretty disappointing experiences with some idiots and haven't tried since. Right now the games I'm playing aren't online games (just finished SWAT and am playing Kill.Switch) - but that's just the streak I've fallen into with my latest purchases.

Rainbow Six is a great game online and offline and if your thinking about it get it, the graphics, gameplay and surround sound are great.

Haven't been playing much XBL, currently have Mech Assault, UC (haven't played it since it shipped), Top Spin, Crimson Skies, SW:Clone Wars, Tetris Worlds.

Add PGR2 for me - picked it up over the holiday. This one could be a lot of fun, if I wasn't such a bad driver.

Also rented Crimson Skies (snuck in some gaming over turkey if you didn't notice). That game was one of the best surprises in a long time. The multi-player looked like a blast and the single-player had me pretty engaged. I'll be picking that one up as well, but maybe not until X-mas - have to leave something on the gift list.

Sent out a slew of invites for the friends list, so I look forward to running into you all at some point or another. Special thanks to the likes of foos and Xen - just for having short gamer tags which was nice when I was on number 20.

I'm also 31, but fortunately I don't have kids (yet), so I do have some time to myself aside from the gf, who loves Halo (thank you God). I totally love R6 and CS, and heartily recommend them to anyone! Co-op R6 is a total blast as well. Thankfully there are starting to be a lot more adult (read mature) players out there, unlike counterstrike.

Edit: I picked up PGR2 this Xmas, I would strongly advise anyone out there that even remotely likes racing games to pick it up. I used to have the first Project Gotham, and got really frustrated with it. But this new version is completely different. Can't wait for Rallisport!

I recently logged onto the XboX live website and 'linked' my gamertag. The cool thing is that you can see your friends that are currently on Live, but based on Turls statement above, I was wondering why in the h-e-hockey sticks you can't add frineds via the web, and then have it 'synch' with your xbox? Seems like a MUCH easier way to type in the all the names here, as an example.

I am a 59 year old CPA with 8 grandkids so you guys sound very young to me! This fall I finished my basement complete with 61” Sammy DLP, Axiom speakers Denon receiver and DVD, then on a whim I bought the X Box for the Grandkids mostly but I have always liked computer games too. I fooled around the games that came with it – Clone Wars and Brute Force and wasn’t too impressed. Then a couple of months ago I bought PGR 2 and became instantly addicted, I don’t know how many hours I’ve played but I am almost though with the single player game. Until I found this forum I would have never considered Live since I assumed it was populated with 13 year old kids, but now I am reconsidering. My question is, am I good enough to give you guys any competition.
In PGR2 I can win at the silver level, a few golds and some bronze medals. That’s pretty much it, I don’t think I am going to get much better. So what do y’all think, anyone interested in playing a old greaser with diminished skills?

dmuir - when you start playing against other people, it pretty much forces you to get better real quick. so even if you arent decent competition to begin with, you'll get there. besides, when playing online, i personally never really care if i win, it's all about the interaction with friends.

moral: Xbox Live is hella cool, and worth the additional cost.

Avoid weekends and holidays and you'll never run into little kids.

Playing in public rooms is generally not a lot of fun, I play almost solely with players from my friends list. The other missing issue here is who hosts and how many can the host hold in a game.
I have an UL of 800 so can host a full room (12 players) of GRIT with explosives. I play only after 10:00pm EDT, two young kids keep me occupied until then, but we will play till 2:00am. It is a great use of an HT setup, and this has become the primary use for my HT set up.

This is really important, if you add me to your friends list, please post here that you are. I host a lot and receive a lot of friend invites, unfortunately not all can be accepted, there is only room on a friends list for people that you play with regularly.

I have basically all the games, I pretty exclusively play RB6:3 though. I just find it to be the most fun. I agree that playing with people you know is the best way, especially in a game like this. I hate the stupid pubeless punks that sprint from the get go, only to find themselves slaughtered as I move at my old man's snail's pace.

Just added about 45 names from this list to my Friends list on Xbox, I hope there is more activity from the ones I added than the ones I had from here previously. . . look for my request and please accept, lots of people I added from before never accepted. Seems like RB6 and PGR2 are the big ones here, and the sports titles, I'm surprised Crimson Skies isn't bigger.

Did you try setting up your XBox with a static IP and putting that IP in your router as the DMZ? I've gotten ISP's and routers that are not "XBox Live" compatible to work this way.

yeah i've tried that. I can play online for 15minutes or so and then xbl loses it connection. every now and then I can play all night without being dropped, but not very often and I never even try anymore. Very unstable when I am plugged into the router. However I didn't have an problems with the router until one of the xbl updates last late summer fall. about the same time crimson skies came out. after the update I've had to plug right into the cable modem or risk getting dropped. I have an 8 port Linksys router.

Funny, I waited forever before nuking the invites, I finally did last night, and you were the first one that ever responded to that post. The invite might not be there anymore if you didn't catch it already.

I still rarely see more than one or two people on live from here when I'm on. With the new Messenger integration I can see a lot of people I found here play during the day and earlier in the evening, which surprises me.

I swore that I'd never go console after years of devout PC gaming. But I guess when you hit 30, you find that the sofa/recliner is much more comfortable than an office desk.
