Hallo,

I found the site to update Panasonic firmware.

I have downloaded the iso image and burned a CD-ROM. Now I am beginning to wonder if that update will work on my Panasonic RV-32 player as it is a european model.
Does anyone have more technical insight than I do ? Is the question NTSC/PAL not only relevant to TV-Sets but also to DVD players ?

I'd like to know before I mess up my firmware ...

Thanks

The PAL/region is very relevant to the player. If you read through this thread from the beginning, I think you will find someone from Germany who reset his European player using (this) American firmware and lost Region 2/PAL. I don't remember the details, and it may have been one of Sango's other firmware threads.

Ok, I had a look at the setup menu: the european version allows to switch between NTSC and PAL. Now I would have these questions:
1.) Can anyone tell me for the north american version of the Panasonic RV-32 if it also allows to switch to PAL ? Then I guess, installing the firmware update will again offer me that functionality.
2.) Can anyone tell me that the key combinations to set the player to regionfree (I think it was something like stop - stop - setup - 3 888 3 - 0) will work when the firmware upgrade is installed ?

Thanks in advance

Forgive me if i missed it;
I haven't seen any mention in this thread about the Yamaha S1200 dvd player. Apparently it uses the Panasonic RP91 internals (for the dvd video portion).

Current version given on my unit's display is G184.

Anyone know if the firmware update files will work on it?

Not sure if a Firmware update would help this situation?

I have done the reset sequence and it didnt help. I've checked multiple DVD's and all are playing with no sound.

I dont know if there is a dual fuse for audio vs video?

Any kind of ideas would be helpful. I am looking on the news files for the firmware but as someone posted before, unless I'm really sure its necessary... I dont just update firmwares willy nilly. :):)

Did you try the other audio outputs available (e.g. optical, stereo, etc.)?

You wouldn't, by chance, have set your A/B speaker switch to B when you usually have it on A, would you?

Hi,

my DVD player is a Panasonic S35 bought in Germany. Where can I download a firmware update for thios player? I have burned some DVDs on my mac which do not play onn the S35, but on my computer or other DVD players. So a fimrware update may be helpful. I only found the firmare for the US model somewhere in this thread....but i am afraid it will kill my german/european S35.

anay help appreciated

Just a few quick questions. I had a Panasonic CP-72 modified for SDI and coax audio (both of which work fine) and also Region Free. My player was having trouble reading a few discs, and I also thought I wasn't doing the key press combo properly for the regions, so I tried to follow JVB's instructions. It said to put in the firmware disc and say "NO" when asked to update. I didn't have the disc and didn't want to try my other firmware disc, so I did their second option which is to press SKIP BACK + PAUSE + EJECT to initialize it. Sure enough, it said INIT on the screen. The player still wouldn't read my Clay Pidgeon's Region 1 dvd, and I didn't have the Region Free firmware disc, so I put in my other panasonic firmware disc, expecting it to ask me to update and I would say "NO". This was supposed to reset or initialize the player again. I put the firmware disc into the player but my display was not working right away. Anyhow, a few seconds later, the screen was visible and said something like "Done. Take out the disc" or "Done. Reset the player" or something like turn off the player etc. I paniced thinking I updated the firmware with the wrong one or currupted the firmware or something. Who knows, maybe I have?. I don't think so though, because when I checked the firmware revision, it was 65F 303 which is the firmware that comes with the JVB Region Free Mod as listed on the JVB website and not the 302 which is on the disc I used.

My players main problem right now is that it randomly won't read some discs, which is what had me doing all this key pressing and firmware disc inserting in the first place. I imagine this is an issue regarding the spindle motor but could be some issue with the firmware etc. Not likely because this trouble reading discs all happened before any key press initializing or firmware disc inserting. This started with Clay Pidgeons Region 1 and Matador, but then randomly all sorts of discs present problems from NTSC Baraka to Region 1 NTSC Star Wars to Region 2 PAL Outland and Clay Pidgeons R1 NTSC.

I have since been able to figure out the proper key press and I believe the player is now working in Auto mode, playing Region 1 NTSC or Region 2 or All Region PAL discs at random. However, somewhere, I lost a menu item in my dvd player setup refering to PAL/NTSC (PAL 60 or NTSC 50) or something. Either when I did the INIT or when I inserted the (wrong) firmware disc. So I can play all regions now, but the PAL/NTSC setting is gone and it has random trouble reading discs.

. . . . . . . .

If my player still shows 303 for the firmware, and not 302, do I still have the correct firmware?

Is there anybody out there with any experience with this? Can I do the RESET key press (apparantly a step beyond the initialize INIT key press.):

On the unit hold PAUSE + BWD-SKIP + OPEN for about 3 seconds. The display will display "initialization" or "int".
While initialization is being displayed, let go of PAUSE and press STOP while holding the other two buttons. The display will then display "reset".

...(in the hopes of getting back the PAL/NTSC menu setting)?

Do you think the JVB firmware disc could help me out?

thanx in advance for any helpful info,

:)

Player - Panasonic CP-67
Current Firmware v. - 32

I downloaded the most current firmware and burned the cd with no issues, however when i put it in the player i get the following message "Update not applicable to this player". Do i need to update to a lower firmware version first? I'm trying to update it so i can view dvd +r's.
Thanks

Unless your unit was region free modded, I don't know why it won't work.

I solved my problem. My unit is fine and has a region free firmware.

This is my first post to the forum but I was glad to find the solution to my problem on a Google search. Looks like a good forum so I'm sure you will see me again!

Thanks to this forum I was able to solve one large problem. My Panasonic DVD RV-41 would not play DVD -R or +Rs at all. I didn't even realize you could flash firmware on a home model. Once I started burning some dvds and I couldn't play them, I went out and bought a Toshiba that would play everything including Divx. The reason I bought the RV-41 was because it has an onboard Dolby Digital decoder and my Yamaha RX V990 does not. While the Toshiba would play the burned DVDs I could not get DD as there is not a decoder onboard.

The only issue I had flashing it was that it would not do anything for over 1/2 hour. I couldn't eject the fw disc or power it down with the button. A big no no when flashing fw in the middle is to power the device down but I had to pull the plug on the dvd player!! Once I ran the disc again it flashed within about 2 minutes and all was well.

Anyway, I downloaded from the link provided and was glad to spend my $1.00
Thanks!

Can anyone confirm that the firmware update improves playability of +R DL (NOT bitset to -ROM, those work fine) on the RP62 or CP72?

Hi,

I went through a lot of posts on this thread but have a basic question about the list of players on FirmwareUpdate.us.

Are the firmware revision numbers listed on the site pre or post the update?

I have a panasonic DVD S25 with current firmware revision at 80B227. Will the firmware update on the site help?

Thanks.

If you look at the list of supported hardware at the site, you see that S25 firmware that is on the update disk is 80B227, sound like you have the latest firmware installed.

Hi there,

Any chance you know where a link to the firmware can be had, versus that website. I have donated over a week ago and can't get a hold of anyone. I was supposedly going to be sent a link, but have yet to see it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

If it matters , I got a used RP82. Thanks.

I have a panny DVD-RV32 that has worked well for me. I have no problems playing DVD+R book typed discs. The problem I do have with the player is that it will not play +R DL book typed. I've seen in other forums that a firmware update will fix the issue. Has anone else had this problem and did the firmware help?

I have the DVD-RV31 and updated the firmware today. Before the firmware upgrade I was unable to play blank dual layer discs. After the update they load and play.

For those that don't have newsgroup access or able to use PayPal I was able to find a torrent for the download.

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to use the Panasonic DVD Firmware update for a Panasonic SA-HT70 DVD Player?
I'm from Germany and I need it for PAL not NTSC.
On firmwareupdate,us its not listed.

I want to check my firmware version but if i push the buttons like it's described on the fwupdate.us site
("To check firmware version: Hold PAUSE and OPEN on player and press 7 on remote.
Last three numbers are the version number.")
it doesn't work, it only opens and closes the drive.

Is the firmware update Image still the same as
Disk #RFKZD5TR006 from vancebaldwin,com
for Players: dvdcp72, dvdlv65, dvdlx9, dvdrp62, dvdrv31u, dvdrv32, dvds35, dvdxp30,
dvdxp50, sadk10, sadp1, saht690, saht70, saht700, saht900, sast1
Price $7.50
Or is the Disk #RFKZD5TR006 just a service and not a firmware update CD???

because i don't want to hurt my DVD System  :p

Thanks for your reply

Bye DanjelSan :)

Does this firmware disable UOP? I'm looking to get a new DVD player and one of the main features I'm looking for is the ability to disable the UOP.

FYI for anyone who doesn't know, UOP stands for User Operation Prohibited. It's what prevents you from exiting out of the warnings, commercials, previews, etc.

Hello i have a DVD-RV32 current firmware :62B433

I am currently having playback issues using the newier xtodvd 3.x line the burns from 2.x still work with no issues but on this player the newier 3.x seem to not work and disc is not in usable messge comes up the disc are all dvd-r. The disc work in other players i have around the house. I am wondering if the 443 update might help my issue that i am having with the dvd-r disc?

edit:

Well i went out on a limb and tried it updated fine with in 3min after i burned with isoburn from the nrg supplied above by the rapidshare but to no avail the 3.x disc still wont work on the player i hope it is an issue with the software seeing it is still in beta but i have my doubts.
