Here is a stand that was made at a local shop that does 'made to measure' bookshelves; had him to it 72"W, 16"H, 20"D for my Mits 73" dlp. It's solid oak, satin finish. Not fine furniture for a formal living room, but does well in an informal den. It's something you might want to check out in your area.

I have been commissioned to find a 'modern and funky' :D glass and metal stand. Basically, it should have some curves, and it should be a good piece.

We can't go with a lacquered wood stand because we are moving the TV, a 50" GWII LCD, to in front of the window (with blinds), because the temp. changes would crack the wood.

I have looked at so many stands, so, now I ask for ideas from you.

It may not work for you, but if you look closely in my pic in the post above yours, you'll see that the tv is sitting in front of a window with the blinds closed (my wife has allowed me to take over this room for the hobby!). Works quite well. Here is another pic behind the set, showing the shelf I mounted for the center speaker (with the universal door stops to angle it downward). You also see the earthquake strap (this is California!) and a fluorescent 'back light' velcroed to the back of the set.

No, that looks to be a wood stand, that won't work here; I am in S.E. PA, as noted, so the temp. fluctuations are too great. Thanks anyway.

Yes, it is wood, solid oak (not veneer) and totally rigid. Hard to believe that any indoor temperature would cause it a problem. But you know best for your situation.

I will be placing an infocus sp5000 in the back of my room (about 14-15 feet from the wall and 106inch screen), it appears that something less then 2 feet high makes the most sense so I plan on putting it on a tv stand. Also going on the stand will be an xbox, xbox360, comcast hddvr, and an onkyo ht-s780 receiver). I have two options currently, the first would be to use a printer stand for the projector (basically a wood box with wheals, at about the right height) and an old solid wood TV stand for the rest of the components (top is too high for projector and it would overheat on the shelf, as sides and back are solid). Or two buy a new stand from circuitcity, probably a zline one that is tempered glass and metal (and would cost <150). Would the wood stands get too hot for the components/projector or would they work ok? The zline will look better and be one stand vs 2 for the others, just not sure if the heat output of the components means a closed stand would not work and something with open sides/back would be worth it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can you cut a hole in the back of the wood stand for venting?

I can cut a hole in the back, though the sp vents on the side and the sides are support so cuttng a large hole in them would probably be bad

It's hard to say without a picture but you may be able to cut a hole in the sides without impacting the structural integrity too much... the secret is to not create any stress points.

Assuming the sides are wood. I would use a 2" hole cutter and make two holes about 4" apart at the same distance down from the top. Then use a jigsaw to cut the piece out in between the holes. You should end up with a 2 " high horizontal slot about 6" wide with rounded ends. These rounded ends are the key to no stress points.

Hope you can vizualize this?

I need a stand for my Sony KP-46wt520, which is a RPTV. It needs to be at least 41 3/4" long and about 24" deep. I am open to wood or silver. Can anyone help me out?

So far I am looking at the Bush VS47246 (site won't let me post a URL since I'm new) but I am unsure if the back feet will hang off the angled back edge and I don't think there is a way to figure it out without seeing an assembled stand.

Thanks.

Here's a stand (front and rear views) that I had made by a local shop that makes 'made to measure' bookshelves. (We had bought some bookshelves there earlier). Got it made just the right size for ~ $230. You might check in your neighborhood for such a local shop.

If you're looking for a stand for a big (65" range) set....consider this from Lane Furniture...

TV, md6580n

Stand, from Lane furniture, ($650):

http://www.lanefurniture.com/products/ProdInfoDet.asp?MasterNo=15713

Two-door cabinet w/attached bookcase hutch, from Thomasville, ($1,000 x 2):

http://www.thomasville.com/Products/RoomGroup.asp?CollectionRGID=63

Style, color and tone match is excellent...unless you look carefully it appears to be a matched set from an overall perspective. The Lane is slightly lighter in color, slightly redder tone.

We decided to not switch the stand knobs (to the round style like the cabinet bottoms, or all "tassle" like the TV stand). Wife likes them different. Removed the center faux double-drawer front and put the center channel on the top shelf behind it.

We're planning a wall-mounted shelf stained to match w/some family pics and nick-nacks on it above the TV, but projects are movin' kind of slow lately. :)

Entire length is 34"x2 for the two cabinet/bookshelf units, and 68" for the stand, so 68" + 68" = approx. 136" overall. You can also get regular full height bookshelf units as well, if you don't like the cabinet/bookcase hutch approach we opted for. Depth ranges from 25" for the stand, to 22" for the cabinet bottoms, and 17" for the bookcase hutches. Bookcase hutches include the built-in lighting, cabinet bottoms have hidden levelers you get to from inside the cabinet.

Looks great, very functional.

Hi Everyone, I'm a proud owner of the Samsung 56" DLP HLR-5667W. Its right now sitting on my coffee table and I'm mentally and physically very tired of looking for a TV stand for this. I'm in the Bay Area, I have gone to all the local stores. Furniture stores don't carry big screen TV stands. I am skeptical to go with online stores because I've read several reviews that it comes damaged, then its a pain to ship it back for a replacement, also the freight company delivers only to the curb. Plus it takes as much as a month in some cases to receive the stand by shipment.

I don't like the stands they offer in BB or CC. I believe its horrendous that they charge $300+ for a glass stand without even doors. All I need is a 52" wide, 18" min. height and 15" min. depth stand, that can hold at least 4 components and preferable with doors so I can also store some DVD's. But if no doors, at least a nice looking open stand thats kinda cheap, $200-ish that I can go pick up some where from Bay Area.

Is that so Darn difficult? Please help me out. Thanks folks.

I had a local place (on San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito, or Albany, not sure which) that builds wooden bookcases build one to my specifications; see attached pics (the second pic shows the shelf for the center speaker--brakets from Home Depot). Made out of solid oak and plenty strong (my Mits weights !60 lbs). It's the same idea as the Oppli stand at Ikea, but nicer, satin finish; cost ~ $230 as I remember (mine is 72"W, 16"H, 20"D).

Hi, Thanks for replying. Its a good looking stand, and no offense, but that stand would kill the decor in my living room. I am ok with even paying $300-$400 but if only I can find a nice stand to my specs. above with glass doors for components and wide enuf center channel shelf. I really like this one:

I fully understand the restraints of a more formal living room (rather than an informal den as my situation). The only thing about the stand you show here is height; one generally wants to have the center of the screen at ~ eye level. Check on the ht of Samsung's screen; for the 56" set it's probably ~18" or so.

My Sammy HLR46 DLP must, of necessity, live at a greater-than-optimum viewing height. Given that this thread focuses a great deal on achieving perfection in that area I thought I'd ask...

...has anyone had to resort to shimming the backside of a DLP set? I figure 4 or 5 degrees would do the trick but I worry about throwing the color wheels out of alignment or off-balance.

I think a lot of people do this, and I've never heard of a problem. Just be sure you attach the set some way to make sure it doesn't tip over. Here is a pic of the back side of my dlp where you can see 'earthquake straps' (this is California!) that are attached with heavy screws to the wall and by velcroe to the set; you can get them at Home Depot.

Yes, I too have my speakers anchored to their stands by something my wife calls 'museum wax'; sounds like the same as your stuff. And if you look closely in this frontal picture, you will see that I have 2 barbells around the base of each speaker stand, each barbell 15 lbs. I can shake the speakers and the base of the stands doesn't move!

I picked up what you are describing at CC for my 50" arriving tomorrow. Box says will support up to 55". The model is a Z-Line Design, Luxor 55" TV stand. (LUXORR55S)

Got some $ off since I was buying a set, saved $70 by assembling myself.

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Z-line-Designs-55-TV-Stand-LUXOR55S-/sem/rpsm/oid/126258/catOid/-12892/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

I agree with the customer reviews at CC's site, it was fast to put together as second and bottom glass shelf slides in. The picture does not do it justice. If this is even slightly what your are describing, it's worth a trip to see it in person. It curves out nicley in the front. The strip is a shiney, polished metal at the top. The black sides are painted metal.

I went with cheapy from Ikea.
One of these:

I admit it is a bit tall for my personal preference, but not too bad, when I only have a 52" TV.
I then have 2 of these - one on each side of the TV Stand:

I started making a tv stand for my room not long ago. Our house is still in construction phase (mostly basement as always) so there is no living room yet. I decided to try this out for fun and since I couldn't fit anything else in there.
So I wanted to make something that fit in that space.. with these side by side :p

One time i was day dreaming and imagined something.. i drew it on paint.

The 'trays' are Pinewood and the side pieces will be cherry wood.
58lbs is with the wood.. i think. I don't think it weighs 58lbs.. more like 45, or maybe im getting stronger.

My problem when I was looking for a stand for my Sony 50" KDS-R50XBR1 was that not only did my wife have to approve it's looks, it had to have enough shelf space for my two channel audio system (an integrated amp, 2 CD players, 2 headphone amps), have enough shelf space for my home theatre components, and have enough top space for my SOTA Comet turntable. I ended up buying the Salamander Quad 20 in black.

I am very happy with it.

If you are in the market for ANY Salamander stands or accessories - I HIGHLY recommend ordering from reference-av (just google them for the url).

They have the lowest price I could find on the net and they work with you on shipping options to save you big $$$'s.

I just purchased a Synergy Triple 20 Walnut with doors, locks, extended backs, two drawers and casters for under $1800 (including shipping to INDIANA - all $25 of it), drop-shipped to a local dock for will-call pick-up in 3 days.

They are in LA so California will pay tax.

Can't wait to get this stuff!

I'm actually planning to build-in two ikea benno tv stands side by side, cutting off the back 3-4 inches to make them a bit more shallow. I plan to add built-in shelving on top with crown and base trim, housing a 42" dlp on the left side. Anyone else do an ikea hybrid?

May sound far fetched, but many folks online have posted built-in projects using bathroom cabinets, etc, and I think the tempered glass doors on the benno would make it nice.

Hi,

I've been looking to purchase a a/v stand and came across a vendor that carried the one I'm considering. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with dynamichometheater (now dynamichomedecor)? I've come across this vendor mentioned in various threads (including the Found possibly the perfect plasma furniture thread) but haven't seen any information about whether or not they are reliable or not. Good, Bad or any other experiences with this furniture vendor would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi, I just bought a Panasonic 42 inch HDTV plasma and now am looking for a tv stand.

My situation is a bit different, where I had a fireplace section which was expanded to hold a 51 inch Panasonic Projection TV. So basically, it is like a box that fits a projection tv with side shelves running on the wall.

So, with the space, I have the dept of 28 inches, Width of 47.5 inches, and Height of 53 inches.

Unfortunately only the 42 inch plasma will fit nicely, with the existing stand i read it is 30 1/5 inches.

Now, initially I liked the Bell-O AVS-425 model at Circuitcity, but it is a inche too high. Since 30 inches for plasma + table at 24 inches exceeded my mark.

Then I narowed it down to the Z-Line models LUXOR44S and SKYLAR44S, the SKYLAR44S looks to old fashioned.

I liked the LUXOR44S in that price range, anyone who has it have any suggestions?

Also, if there is a stand you all can recommend for my dimensions I would appreciated it. Even with the LUXOR44S stand there will be a 3 inch gap from the top to of the box where the TV sits to the screen, but I guess I'll live with that.

Thanks

Haha... I decided not to go with them. Actually, I held off on getting a new stand, but am currently reevaluating my options now.

As far as dynamichomedecor goes, I talked with Mike over email, and he was always prompt, polite and helpful with his responses. Of course, this was pre-sales, so I can't speak to service post-sales.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned. It's available through many e-tailers and CC locally. Price varies, but I got mine for $ 350. It's actually 60" wide and the center compartment with grill cloth is 19" wide to accomodate a decent sized center channel. This is one of the few "some assembly required" furnishings that goes together so solidly it rivals pre-built hardwood furniture in terms of it's structural integrity. Really impressed with the quality and it gives a very clean look. I'll try to snap a photo or two later on.

i know this might sound silly, but i just bought a new samsung 6187...however, i didn't factor in the cost of a EW or a stand into my decision. So now i need the cheapest stand (decent looking) I can get...i'm actually considering cinderblocks + wood plank + table cloth...anyone have any deals or suggestions? probably $150 range. The only reason why i got the TV is b/c it was <1500...so i got the replacement plan and completely forgot that I need a TV stand/cinderblocks to prop it up

thanks!

I just purchased the same TV and was looking for a stand as well. The cheapest stand I've found is at Wal-Mart. It's right around your price range and will look a little better than cinderblocks. :)

It says it's for Plasmas but the measurements lead me to believe it would fit the 6187 - 67"W x 22.5"H x 19"D

PC Connection on the web has it listed at $169.95, but they probably don't have any in stock or something like that. When you don't have something on hand you can price it at whatever you want.

Good luck...it is a nice looking stand.

http://www.bdiusa.com/avfurniture/deploy_max.shtml

I bought this same stand for my 70" XBR2, and it has worked out great.

I was able to put the middle shelf up and have enough room for my 8" center channel speaker. Before I put on the top glass, I placed my center speaker on the middle shelf. I did this because the center glass shelf support shelf support did not allow sufficient clearance to simply slide my center channel onto the shelf.

The only bad thing is that I would have to take the TV off of the top shelf if I wanted to remove my center channel. But given how well this stand looks, and accomodates my TV, it is a small price to pay.

Expensive...but recommended.

2-3" beyond the edge of the TV on each side seems ok. My stand extends about 6" on each side and looks fine to me. IMO, as long as the base of the TV and components fit onto/into the cabinet, you should be ok. Visually, there's probably limits to how narrow/wide the cabinet should be, but I don't think you're anywhere near them.

Obviously, the base is wide enough front to back
I think I was afraid it might feel unsecure on the sides though.

I was looking at this stand until I read the reviews at CC.com, there was one post that mentioned the stand began to bow after a week. The local CC had one so I went down to check it out. I could tell right way that it was bowed (it was carrying, at the time, a 50 odd inch Mits dlp - more than light enough for the suggest max weight), who knows what they had on it before. I wasn't impressed with the doors.

So, I recently picked up a Pier one 'Kobe' stand.

Floor model, 25% off. It fits my needs for a secondary system cabinet (however, I did have to cut larger holes out of the back piece that was already in place).

I haven't noticed any bowing with mine; in fact it seems much sturdier than many of the other stands I looked at. Though it could be a question of quality control, and I got one that they made on a 'good day'. ;) Did the bowing you saw affect the top shelf or the bottom?

I ordered mine on the CC site and picked it up at the store ("Ready for pick-up in 24 minutes, or we give you $24"). As many of the reviewers at the CC site mentioned, loading ~17" wide components into this stand's 18" end compartments (esp. tall ones like my Yammy receiver, that can't be 'angled/tilted'-in) isn't possible once the doors are attached. Pushing the receiver back far enough to allow the door to close left only about 1"-1&1/2" of rear-clearance (my optical lines were on the verge of crimping), so I simply cut out the rear panel behind that compartment. This also created easier wiring access and better ventilation. As you can see in the picture, I opted to leave the center door (which has a black, cloth insert instead of glass) off ...my Athena CC speaker was already a 'tight-fit' and I was concerned that the door frame might affect its sound.

Considering this stand's quality/appearance (several people have asked if its made of solid cherry!) and low price, and since its few shortcomings can be (fairly easily) corrected, its a very good bargain IMO. Sure, I wish it was a Salamander Triple-20, but the $1000+ that's still in my wallet keeps me from staying up at night crying about it.

I would love to add my photos (as promised previously) of this stand in my set-up but have been without a digital camera for some time now. I'll add a few thoughts though. Just after building mine I was so impressed by it's sturdy build that I sat on it like a bench with most of my weight toward the front, dead center left-to-right. At 290lbs I should have known better but oh well. After reading some of the bowing comments here I did examine mine a little closer noticed that it does bow slightly in the center, making the gap tolerance above the center door tighter than on the two end doors. I would hardly attribute this to manufacturing issues given how I treated it previously, but would be more inclined to think that I had caused the problem myself. Given the flexibility of the adjustable hinges it is quite possible to minimize the effect while keeping the doors square to one another. It certainly doesn't bother me while I'm looking at it and I consider myself a bit fussy about that sort of thing.

Mine is still in the box for 4 more weeks :(I did a lot of looking before settling on Tech Craft BEL501b (http://www.standsandmounts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4461) because I have a center channel speaker that is 7 1/2" high. This one will comfortably accommodate the speaker while most others I looked at won't. Another thing I like about this stand is the generous amount of shelf space available for other gear. The shelves do not shrink in the back like many do, allowing usable space the entire width. I ordered it on Monday and it is arriving tomorrow. Will put a Mitsubishi WD-57831 on top.

I ended up buying this stand and assembled it. Like the look a lot and it seems very sturdy. Have not purshased my TV yet. Either a Panny 58" or 50" plasma or a Pio 50" plasma. 50" would be fine I know but the 58PZ750u Panny I am considering would be about 58" wide leaving only about 1" on each side of the TV with this stand being 59.75" wide. Wanted to see what a TV that wide would look like on this stand or get impressions on the size TV others had put on the SWP60.

Hi all,

I am considering buying the Samsung HLT568x DLP for my first HDTV purchase. As part of my (hopefully) thorough research, I am looking into TV stands as well. It seems a lot of people suggest having a low stand (due to the RPTV viewing angle issues). We do not have a "modern" decor in our home, so a piece of wood furniture is more desirable than a metal/glass shelf solution. I saw the Tech Craft ABS60, but it doesn't really match the decor either. (it's too dark) I also found this one which looks just about right. (I can't post links yet so you will have to google it )

Kathy Ireland by Martin Furniture HCR357

But it's 24 inches high. Will this be too high for an LED-based DLP set? Should I look for something smaller? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Danno31, that's very nice. It's not overly ornate as I have seen other custom made cabinets. What's up with the speaker sitting behind the set? I assume it is only there temporarily or you would have provided space for that in your design. What wood and finish is that?

The speakers are temporary, going to be finishing everything today. My dad provided the know how on building the whole thing. I designed it, but have been over at his house helping him build it all. I think it's oak with a cherry type finish.

I know this thread hasn't been used in three months, but I just got a the Sony KDS60A3000 and I'm having problems getting the correct stand.

We have a huge entertainment center where the TV sits in the center. It's possible that we won't be able to have the TV over 53" high in order to fit the entertainment center, so with TV being 39" tall, we need a stand that is no more than 13" tall (leaving 1" at the top).

I've been looking around and the shortest stands I see are 18" high. Is there anywhere I can get a stand as short as 13" high?

I will try to see if we can adjust the entertainment center to get a taller stand if we can't find a 13" stand.

I'm looking for anyone who has the Tech-Craft ABS60. The total width of this TV stand is 59 3/4". I am wondering if I will be able to fit a 17" wide receiver in the center storage area. I cannot find the width of the individual sections on any website and no store I've visited has it on the floor to measure. My guess is that the receiver would barely fit, but I'm looking for confirmation before I pull the trigger. Thanks, if anyone has one as this is pretty much the only TV stand that I've seen which fits all of my needs and wants.

Get yourself a few concrete blocks, spray them heavy with high gloss paint, go to Lowes and in the lumber section they sell edge glued together pine project boards in different widths and lengths. Also get some concrete bricks and spray them too. A little stain for the wood and now you have a completely customizable, height adjustable, creation of your own imagination. And its super strong and almost indestructible.

They aren't the best, I'll work on getting some better ones tonight.
these were last min photo's so they don't look the best.

Thanks creatine64!

It looks really good, I like your setup. How were you able to get the stand down to 180 at BB? Not a bad price at all.

Thanks for taking the time and posting your pics!

your welcome, I need to clean up the cables in the back and I need to make some minor adjustments (visual).

I think they had a sale, we only got it a few days ago and it was 169 + tax I think.

great stand, really looks nice in person, pictures don't do it any justice. the tempered black tinted glass is heavy duty and very very sharp looking.

only took about 15mins to put together, we are happy with it and like I said the stand is 105lbs empty and we like that, some other stands I saw were really nice but the slightest bump and they shook.

if you decide to get it, you won't be sorry. I'll try and post some better pictures that aren't so graining and show it off alittle more.

Thanks, if anyone has one as this is pretty much the only TV stand that I've seen which fits all of my needs and wants.

jaymac,

Just in case you were still waiting to hear about the width of the center opening, I have a very similar stand and my 17.5" wide Onkyo receiver fits nice and snug on the sides. Here's the one from Sears I got: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00868723000P? Here are a couple pictures of it.

i posted this in a tv thread, but i figure this one is more appropriate

anyone ever have to deal with tocabi replacement parts? i bought a stand from vann's and a couple pieces were cracked (main support parts too), so i had to fax this form to them to get the replacement

was wondering how long on average it takes to get the pieces to you? i'm leaving for work trip in about a week and a half and would like to get them before i go

i'd contact them, but i emailed and no reply and called and the person on the phone didn't know - so was hoping someone dealt with them before

I just got a Sony 50A3000 and thought I would post up what stand I got for the thing.

I ended up buying a TechCraft MD46. I'm pretty happy with it most of all for the dimensions. As far as quality goes.....I would say pretty decent, and it was pretty easy to put together. As far as looks go, I would say I like the looks of creatine64's stand better. But I was willing to make some adjustments because of the dimensions just worked better for my situation. I really like the minimalistic approach to this stand, so.....if you have a lot of gear then it is probably not the stand for you. Simply because the shelves are so shallow, probably too shallow for a receiver.

Tech Craft MD46 Series 46"-Wide Flat Panel TV Stand (Black)

TechCraft's new "MD" collection is specifically designed for flat panel, DLP, plasma and LCD displays. This collection includes four television stands for various screen sizes.

The MD46 features:

Two tempered glass component shelves (with 60lb weight capacity per shelf).
Integrated cable management.
A glossy black finish.
Easy assembly, with all necessary hardware included.
20" H x 46" W x 15.75" D
It is recommended for:

Flat screen TVs up to 46 inches and 200 pounds

Anyway, I ended up buying it at a local store for $175 + tax. ( video only if any locals are curious)

I sure hope this helps someone out. :)

Here are some pics, they really don't do the stand justice, but it should give you a good idea anyway.

I saw the pictures you posted of your SXRD sitting on your Init NT-C1140, and liked how it looked. My 50a3000 is on it's way from Vann's, and I picked up the same stand as you did yesterday. The stand is still in the box awaiting the TV, so that if I need to return it I can get a full refund.

I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.

a) how much vertical space is there on the uppermost shelf? i plan on putting my center channel speaker in this spot, and am somewhat nervous about it's ability to fit properly.

b) how much vertical space is in the lower shelf?

c) how much actual width space is there between the bars?

d) how far back do you sit from your tv? do you find that any viewing angle problems occur due to the height of this stand?

thanks........

Any chance that you could post that info here?

It turns out that I, and others as well, would find that information very helpful.

I might be moving some things around and might swap out my stand for the one that creatine64 suggested.

Thanks

Here you go:

bottom shelf = 9inches of vertical space
middle shelf = 8.5inches of vertical space
just shy of 45 inches width space between the bars

Hey All,
Having a KDS-60A3000 delivered tomorrow....
For now, it will go on the same stand my 56FH97 is until I can find a new one...

The one I currently have is only 18" tall which is a great height....Thing is...the actual shelf space is only 5-7/8 & 8-1/4 (top/bottom respectively) due to bracing, legs, etc..)

I am looking for a stand of 18"-19" that either utilizes adjustable shelving or makes better use of the spacing....

Anyone got a recommendation???
thx

I just purchased a Mitsu 65734 and was wondering what others are using for a stand? It seems that most of whats out there is much higher than the matching stand (18")that Mitsu sells. I would really prefer a cabinet style vs the glass/metal type. Does anyone have the Bush Sonoma or Napa stands (20")? i would really appreciate a home type photo of either of these. I also like the TC SWP60 (22") but it's another 2 inches taller. Any input would really be appreciated as it's currently sitting on an old 36" CRT stand.
Thanks!
Bob

HL-T6187S owners, can you measure how long the TV stand attached to the base of the TV is?

Also, I noticed with the TR500X3BX stand you can adjust 3 widths. could I leave this unit in it shortest 45 inch width and have the 61 inch DLP sit on top? (this is why I wanted to know the TV stand base length...

Thank you guys.

Anyone own an SWP60? Online, I like the color

, but when I saw this model at CC, it looked much lighter. Can anyone verify the color compared to the online picture?

I just assembled my SWBL60 (same as SWP60, but black) and have an allignment problem that I was hoping you guys could help with. My furthest left door and my center door are next to each other. They have a door pull on each and they end up being very close together when fully assembled. However, anything short of perfect alignment shows in the pulls. Well, mine are off by about a 1/4" and it's driving me insane. I spent all day yesterday adjusting the hinges and doing whatever I can (except drilling new holes) to try to line them up. They just won't. My guess is the pre-drilled holes by Tech Craft are slightly off. In fact, I messed with the hinges a little too much and made my holes too wide for the screws, so had to figure out a way to get the screws to take (that sucked).

Anyway, I'm looking for ideas on how to make the door oulls line up better. I can't drill new holes for the pulls, but I could possibly do so for the hinges. I'm just afraid that holes 1/4" from each other would basically turn into one big hole - so that is last resort.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on the Salamander Synergy Triple 20 media console, my closest Best Buy (Bailey's Crossroads in Fairfax, VA) has quite a few displays on close out. Maybe other stores are doing the same.

I was able to pick up an excellent condition Triple 20 with three perforated steel doors for $500 on Sunday.

I'm in a tough spot and I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me out. Here's my situation:

So I was planning to get my Panasonic 65" tv in august based on the release date announced earlier in the year. I just found that they put the model I am interested in on their website, but now they are listing the release date as June. I had initially intended to get a salamanderdesigns stand (a synergy triple 10 with a 12" triple riser on top).

I essentially have two problems:

1. For my center channel speaker, I have a paradigm 690. It's a pretty big speaker (10" X 37" X 16"), so it needs a big place to put it. I was initially going to put it under the triple riser with the tv sitting on top. The 10" height of the center channel seems to be a very uncommon spec that most tv stand manufacturers don't support.

2. When Panasonic put the TV on their website this week, it had the specifications listed, including the weight (200 lbs). The problem here is that the triple riser on the salamander can only support 120 pounds. The brace that they make to mount flat screens can't even accomodate the tv I'm interested in.

I really liked the design and layout of the salamanders. If the tv weight weren't an issue, it really would have been perfect for my home theater. The cabinets underneath would have supported my amp, pre-amp, tivo, and PS3 perfectly, with the 690 on top of them.

If I only had one of the problems above, it would be much easier to find something, but the combination of the tv weight and space requirements for the center channel are making it tough to find something. I even called salamanderdesigns yesterday and spoke with a sales rep. They were very nice, but they said that there's nothing they could do for me.

My questions are as follows:
1. Does anyone know of a TV stand that could accomodate my needs?

2. Does anyone know of some TV stand manufacturers that offer custom designs like salamander does that they would recommend?

3. Has anyone had to hire a carpenter to build a stand. What was the price, quality, and overall experience like? (And where did you find them)

Apologies for the lengthy message, but I'm in a bit of a jam right now, and any help from the board members would be greatly appreciated!!!

Best Regards,

CM

Replace the pulls with round ones? Remove the center door?
