I watch a lot of sports during college football season. Does Dish have Fox Sports Southwest available in HD? It seems that DirecTV does.

That's good to know. That was the main thing that had me stuck between Dish and DirecTV. Although, my interest was piqued at the possibility of DirecTV release a new HD DirecTV+TiVo box, but I haven't heard anything lately.
girdnerg 05-06-09, 11:45 AM Yosef 615,
I am with Dish and very happy. Just picked up one of the new VIP-722k receivers. With the OTA module, you can record 4 channels at once (2 from satellite and 2 from antenna). There are also rumors of several new HD channels coming this week (SPEED HD, FX HD, MavTV HD and Fashion TV HD).

With the economy being so crappy I will probably dump D* and keep E*.
They are the best of the two for an HD junky like me.

KTUL won't do it. They will just say watch it on the web. I am already moving the big dish over to pick up the ABC feed. I have my computer setup to stream to the tv too. So Frank Mitchell can yak all he wants.
osu1991 05-13-09, 09:07 PM Frank Mitchell, Dan Threlkeld and Travis Meyer. The top 3 reasons for letting viewers get a national Network feed.

osu1991 05-15-09, 08:02 PM I saw that too. I sent an email last week, to the engineer that told me it would be on in a few weeks, 2 months ago and still haven't heard anything. I did notice some extra information in the diagnostics menu on my Sony DHG this afternoon, but still no data for TVG1 or TVG2 which is the digital onscreen data.
SoonerTheBetter 05-15-09, 08:35 PM Hopefully they are working the bugs out and it will all be good when they flip the switch in Tulsa. At least the news in OKC is showing that something is being done.
philspice1 05-15-09, 11:16 PM KOTV is off the air on Cox. Digital SD, HD, and analog. Happened right in the middle of Letterman. Anyone notice if OTA is affected as well? Seems like an issue at KOTV.
They're back on after ten minutes of dead air.
stunpals 05-17-09, 07:09 AM For those that do not have D*
D* has been giving scoring updates/live update option when your tuned into ESPN.
Similar to when the Masters or another major golf tournament is taking place... except this is accessible at all times from the ESPN channel. MLB, NBA, NHL - also shows listing of each and allows you to jump to that channel if live.
Anyway, is this an ESPN thing, does COX offer a similar product?
osu1991 05-17-09, 10:40 AM Go to directv's website. It is a new feature available on their HR series receivers. Any of the sports channels should have a trigger icon or something that alerts you to select the red button (I think) on the remote and get the latest real time scoring information.

osu1991 05-20-09, 02:33 PM Right. In Stillwater my Sony 250 HD recorder is continuing to work quite well with TVGOS when hooked up to cable
Check the atsc slicer info screen in the 753 menu and see if you are getting digital data or check and see what your host channel is. If Suddenlink is providing Fox23 analog from Tulsa, I would bet you are getting analog guide data from them. Or it could be digital data from OETA in OKC.
number76 06-06-09, 05:26 PM Allegedly OETA's secondary feeds are on Cox Tulsa as 111-114, but my repeated scans from MythTV for them (as QAM) has returned nothing. For a while National Geographic and Travel Channel HD were coming through, but not now. Right now all I get in DTV are the local HD feeds, the weather feeds, and This, as "220". My scans find the call signs of all the locals, but most of them appear to be encrypted.
I have Expanded Basic and do not have an STB, nor do I want one. I do not have a QAM-capable TV, either, so all DTV watching has to be at least a bit time-shifted.
So, has anyone else had any more success? My attempts to get real data from Cox have so far met with little success. They just say scan and I'll find them. Well, I don't.
osu1991 06-06-09, 08:54 PM Oeta only has two channels now. The main HD feed and OETA Okla. 11.2 Okla is not available in clear qam. Cox only has the main feed in the clear.

When did they kill off OETA Kids and OETA Create? Last I'd read a few months ago, those channels were cable-only.
- Trip
osu1991 06-06-09, 11:36 PM I forgot, they are cable only still, I assume. But, they are not available in the clear. You need a cox set top to get them. I have expanded basic in the office and was glad to see them leave the OTA signal and devote that bandwidth to more HD programming. The four main locals and the weather subchannels, along with This tv and the Cox channel and a shopping channel are all that are in the clear at the moment. There were a few HD channels but they moved and went encrypted a few weeks ago. If you are a subscriber to tv programming and not just Cox internet, then there are a couple of audio channels in the clear too.

I've got Suddenlink in Drumright. A Panasonic DMR EH50 hasn't had TVGOS since the first of the year, it can't even find a time feed anymore. I've talked to Suddenlink and Panasonic, still nothing. Panasonic said they would forward the info from the 753 menu to Macrovision.
I also have a TVGOS LG TV with 2 coax feeds, one for antenna and one for cable. TVGOS data has come and gone several times since Jan 09. For a while the host chan was 6.1, the last few weeks it's been 23. Today it's back to no data.
Maybe after the change over it will come back.
osu1991 06-13-09, 09:01 AM anyone getting digital onscreen listings for TVGoS. My channel lineup was wiped out this morning and I was asked to select a cable provider to go with my OTA lineup. My host is now showing analog 11 from COX and my time set channel is 11.1 OTA. So I am assuming OETA is sending digital Onscreen information on 11.1 now. I am seeing some digital information starting to fill in, in my diagnostics screen, but my Sony still prefers analog Onscreen sources if it can find it. I will disconnect the cable and see if it can find listings for OETA OTA once my guide has repopulated again.

I am now getting the "TV Guide" logo in my Dish Pal DVR's program guide. Something that has never happened in the six months that I have owned it. I think I am still getting PSIP info though.
Most of my channels have information for about ten hours. 11.2 and 2.1 are getting a couple of days worth. I think this is about the same as before the logo.

willits 06-13-09, 12:18 PM Actually, that particular page on my site only lists details if a station is changing channels. Power hikes aren't specified. KTUL-DT is currently at 6.9 kW directional, and has requested to drop the directional pattern, put a new omni directional antenna on top of their tower, and boost power to 15 kW. Who knows when it will be granted. I kinda wish they'd go up to at least 30 kW, but...

Since the change yesterday KTUL DT must still be low power and directional. I've got a good antenna and get KJRH vhf 8 and KOED vhf 11 fine. I'm west of Tulsa where the coverage maps show the null. Any way to find out about the request you mentioned?? I could get their analog 8 just fine. I'll try calling them next week.

osu1991 06-13-09, 02:00 PM Analog 8 went off the air at 1pm yesterday. KJRH is the only analog still up other than some low power stations. KJRH is in night light mode with a demo video for the next two weeks. Don't know if KTUL went to full power or not, they are still coming in at about 78 on my tuners, whereas everything else is at 90 plus.

Analog 8 was turned off yesterday about 9am and KJRH moved from 56 to 8 about 2 minutes later. Over the winter they had a crew on the tower. Maybe they need to hit the turbo button.

If the tower cannot support the weight of another antenna without collapsing, then they cannot put another antenna up there.
Well, they could, but then you'd be without ABC for a much longer period of time.

girdnerg 06-15-09, 02:10 PM Hey folks,
I'm with Dish and have a problem with the guide data for KOTV (channel 6).
Since KOTV changes channels on Friday, I have no guide data on my VIP receivers for it. I'm still getting it for the sat provided local, just not for the over-the-air channel using the box's built in tuner. Never had a problem like this before. The only thing that changed was the DTV switch on Friday.
I tried a check switch on Friday to force a guide download.....no help. I've also had 3 nightly reboots since then, so I think the problem is on their end.
Are any of you other Dish subscribers having guide problems like mine?
TIA,
Rob

I'm having the same problem. This happened when CW first went live on CH19.
It took several days for the guide to catch up.
osu1991 06-15-09, 03:33 PM It is a mapping problem. I already emailed Dishquality about it. Took them 3 or 4 days after they responded to my email before the KQCW problem was fixed. Hopefully they can get it in this weeks weekly Wednesday uplink. That is usually where they correct things.
A power failure at KOTV has caused the station to go off the air
According to their website
Can anyone verify that KJRH has quit its NTSC nightlight on Ch 2 as scheduled Jun 26 ?

That was one thing keeping me on Cox.
HVYCHVY 09-28-09, 09:07 PM I was catching up on the Sunday shows on Fox23 (8-1 ota)on my Tivo series 3 DVR and I noticed that Family Guy and the Cleveland Show was artifically matted on the sides. The matting didn't goto top of screen, so I could see about a 1/4" the rest of the picture. The news update was in 4:3 but the comercials were in 16x9.
Should I contact Fox 23 about the matting or is something on the TV/tivo messed up? Attached images of what I am talking about if your interested or confussed:o
THanks,
Richard
osu1991 09-28-09, 09:15 PM It is not Fox23's problem, which is 22.1 or 23.1 OTA depending on your receiver not 8.1. That is the way they are receiving the feed directly from Fox. Some of these cartoons are framed for widescreen but the network or distributor chooses to show them 4X3
HVYCHVY 09-28-09, 09:23 PM Yeah, I was on 23-1 KOKIDT....the beginning of American Dad started WS, then after the credits, went to matted mode:( WTH good is HD if you'll loose some of the picture.
Trip in VA 09-28-09, 09:27 PM I'm not sure what you're trying to show in your picture. Family Guy is not available in HD anywhere, so far as I know.
- Trip
osu1991 09-28-09, 09:36 PM He is talking about the overscan bar at the top of the screen, that makes it look like there is actually more information there, but being covered up by the side curtains.
Trip in VA 09-28-09, 09:44 PM Ah, yeah, I've seen that line before. If you examine it closely, you'll find it's actually the very tippy top of the 4x3 picture stretched to 16x9. You're not missing anything.
- Trip
i occasionally get the same thing as well. sometimes at the top and on some hd programming i'll have 1/4" to 1/2" of blackness on the bottom like the picture has been shifted up. it's not your tv or stb. as far as the top goes, that has to be directly from fox. if it's a big issue for you and you have overscan turned off on your tv, you should be able to turn it back on, but then you'll definitely be losing at least a small amount of the picture.
also, the simpsons are the only animated show on fox that is in hd, at least right now. king of the hill was during it's final season but of course it was cancelled. the directv guide showed that the cleveland show was in hd, i haven't watched it yet but it looked like sd.
TubaSaxT 09-29-09, 12:19 PM The opening segment of The Cleveland Show with the Family Guy characters was 4x3 HD. When they transitioned to the credits/theme song, the picture went to 16x9 HD and stayed there for the remainder of the show.
Family Guy is still 4x3 SD. I think it's supposed to be until at least the middle of this season, if not longer.
Of course, I was watching in St. Louis, so I can't really speak to your experience locally.
What is the problem with KJRH????
They are having several drop-outs tonight.
I switched from OTA to the satellite feed and found the same problem.
Very anoying!!!

You can see my previous antenna on top of the TV. It's a Radioshack 15-1868, $23: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062081 I live ~4 miles away from the Coweta array btw and even though I'm that close, the RS antenna still had dropped signals :(
For $4 in a Transformer (Lowe's RCA: VH54N) + stuff I already had, I'm now getting:
3 more channels, plus they were all bumped up 30-40% or more in signal strength! I'm still pulling in all my VHF channels (this antenna is really meant just for UHF). No more dropped signals! :woot:
Can't wait to get this sucker up in my attic and see what kinds of crazy stuff it'll pull.
Build plans and a DIY video:

dang, getting old. I remember those and the old push button cable boxes.Somewhere, I've got an old pushbutton cable box that still has HBO listed as "Q." It also had WTCG (which was WTBS' old call letters). KOKI hadn't come on, yet. And most of the higher channels were newswires that just scrolled across the screen. Circa '77 or '78. I remember having to go to the Tulsa Cable office to pick up a trap for a 35-dollar boxing match PPV my father wanted to see. Use once and throw away. And yes, I still have it in a box, somewhere.

I have no need to build anything more sensitive because I'd just be picking up duplicates from OKC or maybe a couple random low power or far away independents.

osu1991 11-29-09, 11:07 PM I am just 2 miles down the road from you at 115th and 225th, hoping to be moving in about 3 weeks if I can find time to finish getting the new house ready. I had to put 3 10db attenuators in our antenna line to get a stable picture. We are so close to the towers here that the signal overloads the tuners without lots of attenuation. With the attenuators I have a nice steady signal of 85 to 90 on every station, without the attenuators, I lose everything. This drove me batty for 2 days, as I could get signal with bare wire, but lose everything with the attic mount. Finally dawned on me the tuners were being overloaded and I started adding attenuators and the channels started scanning in.

Maybe the cold weather is getting to me, I will have to remember to watch tomorrow now.

I have noticed this on the TV guide but when it tuned it in it was standard even though it said HD on guide. I wish Tulsa & OKC would get it so the syndicated shows was in HD.
This seems like an appropriate place to congratulate Cox for finally removing the encryption and adding PSIP data for all the locals. Things finally work as they should on my CableCARD-less TVs.

I got to talk to an engineer at KTUL a couple of days ago. He said they have their new transmitter installed (1/2010) and expect the new antenna to be delivered and installed, on top of the tower, this month (4/2010) weather permitting, and they will be at 15 KW. They still are broadcasting with an antenna mounted on the side of their tower.
Hope this fixes my issues with OTA KTUL too.

osu1991 10-25-10, 08:08 AM Yes, they started this morning on KOTV and KQCW
You sure it's not widescreen SD. It looks that way to me.
Their website has no mention of going HD local

What I thought. Read KWTV's release and pay attention to the last sentence:
"We also recognize people's appetite for the best viewing experience possible and have made the necessary technology investment to introduce high definition viewing in Oklahoma City, with plans to do the same in Tulsa," Griffin said.
Guess that answers that question.
osu1991 10-25-10, 01:03 PM KWTV story is saying they are HD KWTV. I haven't seen the news on channel 6 yet. I watched it on 19 this morning before I left and it looked pretty good. They need to work on the makeup for LeAnn and Rich, the details were showing up pretty good. It may look better on 19 since there are no subchannels taking bandwidth away from the main feed too.
osu1991 10-25-10, 03:07 PM Confirmed from the OKC avs page. Tulsa got left out in the cold for now with only 480 widescreen.
Ho BigOkie,
Tulsa is indeed 16:9 Standard Definition news production. However, we did go HD Master Control, and add HD syndicated programming and spot playback.
Enjoy!

I watched the local news on 6 last night and was very disappointed in their video processing.
IMO their change to widescreen format resulted in a poorer PQ than when it was 4x3. I did not look at CW. Hopefully it looks better.
I'm curious to see what the means during severe weather warnings.
osu1991 10-26-10, 01:56 PM Shouldn't make any difference during their weather scare warnings. KOTV has been able to overlay the weather maps on the HD programming for the past year. This should allow KQCW to do the same now as they were having to drop the CW to sd during weather alerts.
bofurley 11-09-10, 05:10 AM Has any else noticed that KTUL is not broadcasting in Dolby Digital since early this week?
bofurley 11-09-10, 05:17 AM Sorry about that, I should have said KJRH, channel 2 - is not broadcasting in DD since early this week, Has any else noticed this?
I am with DirecTv.
Thanks,
riflesforwatie 11-19-10, 03:41 PM bofurley - Yes, I'm on Cox Cable and KJRH has not been sending 5.1 surround sound for about 3-3.5 weeks now. No idea why, but they have done this in the past. I think two years ago they were in stereo sound for a while because they were fixing an issue where their surround sound would "pop". However, I haven't noticed that "popping" issue from KJRH since they fixed it back then.

stunpals 06-16-11, 08:00 AM Ok guys - I'm in the exploratory steps of dumping D* (and not picking up Cox Cable either).
So for locals, I can get an antenna. No worries.
I will miss ESPN and Fox Sports Oklahoma (Thunder games) for sure...
But the time has come.
I've been looking at Roku to stream and of course PS3 and the others...
Anyone have experience with this? I would need to drop my ATT dsl and get Cox Cable modem I guess but what speed would be appropriate for streaming Netflix and from my laptop?
Any input would be appreciated.
Interesting, I'm in somewhat of a similar transition.
I currently have DSL with Windstream.
The max rate they offer my neighborhood is 3MB.
I can stream Netflix to my Oppo 93 just fine at that rate but it drops durring primetime. I think you will be fine above 3MB for Netflix.
I'm having Cox installed at my house tomorrow for a higher bit rate.
If all looks good on Cox I'll switch my phone there too and drop Windstream.
Windstream couldn't telling me when they would upgrade my neighborhood.
I can confirm more later tomorrow after Cox is running.
I still have Dish for TV and will continue that.
osu1991 06-16-11, 02:32 PM I have Dish for TV but Cox for internet and I recently added phone for a business and fax line, as I work from home most days now. I just have the Essential level internet at 3 down and 384 up but I actually average 4 down. I don't stream netflix but I have a WDTV Live Hub and an HTPC connected to the 60in HDTV in the living room and I don't have any problems streaming ESPN 3.com or some of the TwitTv stuff through the Live Hub or the computer to the tv.
If you get Cox for internet, then the big 4 networks HD feeds are in the clear on Cox along with the sd versions of the other locals, if you have a tv with a built in digital cable tuner.
stunpals 06-28-11, 11:25 AM Re: my ditch cable/satelite TV project
I purchased a PS3.
I installed TVersity to run my media server (laptop)
Now I'm looking at antenna's. I'm in Owasso (minimal building/structure interference) About 20-25 miles from the towers it seems.
Anyone have a solid suggestion for an antenna? Lots of choices and varying opinions. Figured I'd ask fellow Tulsans. If this is covered in this thread, I apologize.

Because Tulsa stations fall in both UHF and VHF spectrum I found a Channel Master CM3016 to work very well around 71st & Garnett.
You can probably go smaller if you have line of sight.
stunpals 06-28-11, 07:40 PM I got a little antsy and ran to the Shack (I know) but the amplified antenna picked up everything immediately crystal clear (92 signal strength) except channel 8, but after a little maneuvering I picked it up around 68%

vortec54 07-08-11, 09:35 AM sorry but I really want to post the url's
vortec54 07-08-11, 09:42 AM I have a gabled 1.5 story with accessible attic space upstairs. I'm willing to put an antenna at the apex at either end of the house (which face E and W) but I'm not sure if it's needed on the roof. I'm confused as to how large an antenna I need and where to put it. The west end would be easiest because of the existing cable entry point. Also what direction to point it. I have all the other equipment worked out. Right now I have Cox DVR located in an office off of the den with HDMI through the walls leading to Sony EX700 above fireplace. The dvr is fed to a late but low end Denon AV receiver that's also fed by a PS3, wii, vhs/dvr recorder combo, and a macbook pro sitting on the office desk. Also, here's what I'm buying with some Amazon Visa points I didn't realize I had.
1) not sure about the antenna or where to put it.
2) Channel Master CM-7000PAL Digital Video Recorder
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0033TJPJW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

3)Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002O3W4LE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_6?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I hate all the fees and taxes on my Cox phone. This allows free phone to contiguous US and you can keep your number. The cable modem that's going back has telephony and feeds a jack that feeds the whole house.
4) Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtremehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UI2FPE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_7?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I'm keeping the "Preferred" internet package from Cox. I't s $47 with no tax or fees and usually runs from 15-20 mbps. I might not need the Docsis 3.0 but I will eventually. And I have to take the cox modem back anyway.
5)Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS
http://www.amazon.com/Cyberpower-CP1500AVRLCD-UPS-Display-8-Outlet/dp/B000FBK3QK/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_1
The telephony modem from Cox has battery backup. The cable comes into our house in the laundry room. I'll plug the cable modem, apple wireless airport router, the Ooma service, and the cordless phone into this. It'l be nice to have internet on my laptop during power outages.

I sure will. All the reviews on Amazon look good. the only thing is that they tend to ware out and need replacing after a couple of years. But that would still only be about 10/month a guess. I need to get an antenna ordered at the same time however. I forgot to mention that I'm kind of at the bottom of a hill so maybe even though I'm in the metro area I should put it on the roof. I just want to get it right.
I'm at 71st & Garnett and using a Channel Master CM3016 Suburban Advantage TV antenna. It's mounted at the east end of my house on the roof just
above the gable. I started with a UHF design but it didn't cut for the low band channels. Very happy with this one. No amp required and its split 3 ways.
Let me know if you gain any speed with that Motorola SB6120.
vortec54 07-09-11, 11:43 PM I've decided that I'm going to get a TIVO Premiere XL instead of the Channel Master CM-7000PAL. Too many bad reports and it costs the same. Sure the 499 lifetime subscription will hurt but I'll be saving over a hundred a month with OTA signal. Also, Cox claims that they will provide free modem with internest only so I won't have to buy that. Better guide and it does have kind of a built in ROKU and also external HD archiving. With HULU, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and pandora, we should be happy.Maybe ESPN3 will help out with the sting of less football. Check out an app called iTIVO. You might be buying one too.
vortec54 07-15-11, 10:07 PM I went ahead and got the new modem and it's great! It has made a big difference in speed. I like the new Ooma as well but had to call tech support to use it with this modem and my airport extreme. Bye bye phone bill. I was really impressed with the tech support and the clarity seems just as good as Cox. And the new Tivo is great too! I would recommend buying it from Tivo if you're going to get the lifetime service and extended warranty however. The warranty is only good on the orignal box you bought and if it's replaced it had better be from them so they can transfer the warranty over to the new box (they said they would work with you if it were from Best Buy as well). I paired it with my RCA 751 antenna that I put in the ridge attic and the picture clarity is fantastic. Told Cox to discontinue my TV service today and I feel much better.
vortec54 07-16-11, 08:21 AM I didn't mention the speed of the modem. You need to keep on their butts about it! Take the modem back to one of their "stores" and demand another one. If it keeps doing it then keep them coming back over and over an over again until they finally decide that they're going to have to deal with whatever issue the line into your house is having. One of my neighbors had an issue with poor service and finally got it resolved. My service has never been anything except reliable and really fast. And it's especially fast since I bought the new Motorola modem I posted about earlier. Head and shoulders above their crappy modems.
osu1991 09-01-11, 09:25 PM Get a replacement. I never had any problems in 4 years with my basic motorola modem at my old house in Tulsa or my current home in BA. Have them check the firmware on the modem too. I recently added voice service when I started working predominantly from home and the new voice and data modem had problems until someone checked the firmware and saw it was out of date by a few generations. They pushed a firmware update to the modem and my service has been rock solid again.

I figured I'd post here with the locals before venturing into the DVR area and being told to "go away and search".
So....
Besides Tivo, is there any set-top box or similar that has the following:
On-screen guide
Netflix
DVR capability
I'd even live without the DVR capability if I could get a guide and netflix on the same box.
I've looked at Channel Master and a few others, and it appears that Tivo might be my only bet. I have a PS3 currently hooked up for Netflix and could get a Roku, but really want the onscreen guide.
Other than that, we actually don't really miss cable at all. Maybe when netflix gets boring over time, but so far we have no complaints.
Thanks for the help.

I am using mine for OTA only. It has dual tuner that allow you to watch one and
record one, or record two and watch one already recorded.
Both tuners have a 30 minute buffer that you can toggle between.
Not bad for $99. If you need more storage you add an external harddrive.
The guide for OTA only works great.
TheCleaner 01-30-12, 09:00 PM Thanks....I'm frustrated I missed out on the $9.99/month special they were having last November.
On a side note...I was reading that Cox might broadcast clear qam channels. Is this true? I have internet only through them now, but was curious if I would get the same channels through the cable as I do OTA.
TheCleaner 02-16-12, 08:39 AM I posted this elsewhere, and I'm sure crossposting is strongly discouraged, but figured you local guys wouldn't mind.
My TV Fool reception map:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...0b86c2a9b8e694
I purchased an RCA ANT1450BM, and it does a rather decent job overall, getting about 80-90 signal strength on most channels. The problem channel overall is the ABC affiliate operating on VHF I believe. What's funny is I think the NBC one is too but it has great reception.
In an effort to alleviate this, I bought an RCA ANT751R based on the reviews.
So far, it seems decent enough but really no better than the ANT1450BM, and at times worse. However, ABC does tend to come in better now.
The problem stems now from other channels pointed away from that primary tower SE of me.
SO, the real question:
Can I physically take the ANT1450BM apart and add it's omnidirectional antenna to the ANT751R somehow and have it create one "super antenna"? I know I can mess with splitters, jointennas, etc. My question is more of whether two antennas can be physically joined into one.
P.S. If someone has another antenna suggestion that will work instead of messing with all this, based on the pics and info, I'm all ears and would be happy to take back the others.

If you have cable internet with Cox, then yes put a splitter on the line and connect it to your tv and scan for cable. The locals and a few other channels are ITC qam. I had Cox internet for the last 3-4 years until last month when I moved. I had 2,6,8,11,23,41 in HD along with the Cox channel. The rest of the locals were SD along with some of the subchannels.

osu1991 03-02-12, 04:51 PM No it is not illegal. They are mandated to broadcast the locals in the clear for all their customers at the moment, due to the digital transition. The cable companies are trying to get that changed now that the transition has been completed and people are slowly getting rid of their analog tube tv's.
