Currently the only HD channel available OTA is ABC 5-1.

HDNET TO BROADCAST GAMES 2-5 OF FIRST ROUND IN PLAYOFFS

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks and HDNet announced today that fans will
be able to watch Games 2 through 5 of the Mavs vs. Rockets Round 1
Playoff Series in high-definition on HDNet in Texas.

"There's nothing more exciting than playoff time, especially when you
have a match-up featuring two Texas teams," said Mavs owner Mark Cuban.
"HDNet and the Mavs want to give viewers at home an experience that is
almost as good as being there."

Co-founded by Cuban and General Manager Philip Garvin, HDNet provides
viewers with exciting and topical news, sports, music and entertainment
programming. The network features up to 20 hours of original
programming each week, all produced in the highest quality 1080i HDTV
format - more original high-definition programming than any other
network.

HDNet news and entertainment includes original series "HDNet World
Report," "Face 2 Face with Roy Firestone," "Art Mann Presents," "HDNet
Concert Series," and "True Music," as well as every episode of the
acclaimed Warner Bros. series "Smallville." Live sports productions
include NASCAR auto racing, National Hockey League and Major League
Soccer games.

HDNet Movies, the company's second network, shows a wide selection of
major studios' theatrical releases - all uncut, unedited, and appearing
in their original aspect ratio. The network also features movies
produced and finished in true 1080i high-definition, including movies
premiering day and date with their theatrical releases.

for more information. Comcast does not currently carry HDNet and HDNet
Movies, so Mavs Playoff games in HD are not available to Comcast

How many digital channels will I get in McAllen, TX. How is the reception and signal strengths in McAllen as the main towers are in weslaco and harlingen. Any recemmendations on the type of antenna???

Visiting Hooters in McAllen this past weekend. They had a lot of nice plasmas for the NCAA Tournament but none of the broadcasts were in HD. Does the local CBS station not broadcast in HD yet or did Hooters just drop the ball?

In our market (as of 5/29/06) the following major networks are broadcasting in HD:
ABC
NBC
CBS

Although you can't get these stations in HD through your SAT provider yet, you can get them with an antenna in your home. I live in Harlingen and I am using an HD - indoor antenna I purchased at Circuit City. I am having no problem pulling all local channels ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, UPN, Spanish Channels. . . .

However, because our Fox station (or pathetic excuse for one) does not broadcast in HD, we can't receive anything on Fox (i.e. NFL, NASCAR, 24, Prison Break...) in HD. Call them at 956-687-4848 to tell them how unsatisfied you are. Be polite, but get your point across. The bottom line is that our area is in a top 100 media market in the U.S., we should have FOX available in HD. We are only one of 8 or 9 stations in the top 100 markets who don't have FOX available in HD. Got to love the Rio Grande Valley. :mad:

Finally, getting an affiliate waiver will not help. I was granted a waiver to get another Fox affiliate's signal beamed to me. I chose NYC's station. However, FCC rules prevent an HD out of market signal from getting sent to you. So, even though you could get an out of market fox station, you couldn't get it in HD.

I'm new to OTA HD.. quick question.

I seem to have NBC in HD ( I haven't seen an HD signal yet.. I think it's just the programming ) on 23.1

I have CBS in HD (4.1)

But, I can't seem to get Channel 5/ABC in... at all. Is it channel 5.1? If not, what is it?

Also, I thought that KMBH/PBS was in HD as well.. I don't seem to have a HD signal from them.

I'm mostly interested in Channel 5...

Just talked to our Fox station and they are hoping to have an HD signal up for the Rio Grande Valley w/ in the next 6 weeks. This will mean that we can get all our major networks in HD w/ at OTA antenna. YES!!!

i listed the channel frequencies and not the actual channels like kgbt operates on channel frequency 31 but shown as 4.1.you cant have two different stations operate on the same channel frequency like an analog and digital .

I called NBC. Apparently something broke on their antenna. The gentleman I spoke with said it should be back up in a few days. I wonder if this was related to the black flashing I was seeing in a few programs before it went down.

I barely got that noise last night. Has your tv, or anyone's, been able to "smart" zoom 23 since it came back. My tv can't anymore. If the show is 4:3 it stays that way no matter what viewing mode I use. Can't KVEO do anything right? :mad:

I also had that same screeching sound. At the time I was using SageTV. I since switched to MCE2005 & the sound stopped. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Howdy, I'm from McAllen and just got a HD tuner card(Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600) and was wondering what would be a good indoor antenna. The one I have now only pulls in one station, KGBT-DT.

I cannot receive our PBS station though. Get good signal just no picture or sound. I have tried two indoor antennas with good success.

The first antenna I bought was:

This is strictly a indoor antenna only. I got great signal strength on CBS, NBC & Fox. ABC was weak but had no breakup or pixel problems.

The second antenna I tried was the:

This is a indoor or a outdoor antenna. I get full signal strength on all channels. Still can't get PBS but maybe in the future. I highly recommend the second antenna. I still have the first antenna. These antennas were purchased at Radioshack.

Thanks Phil, I'm in the northwest part of town, so hopefully reception will be much the same as you. So long as I can get the major networks I'll be happy. I was planning to make a run to Radio Shack and peruse their selection, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for the 2 you recommend.

Went to Wal-Mart today and picked up a Philips MANT510 for $35. I'm picking up everything except ABC, which is in and out. I can probably pull it in if I play around with the placement a bit. Thanks for the recommendations though.

Anyone know when Time Warner Cable will be pushing more HD content to its RGV subscribers. I was reading some other forums and saw that they have added and will be adding a butt load of HD content in other areas of the U.S. (ESPN2,HGTV-HD and so on) It sure would be nice to get more HD content here too. I see our FOX station is broadcasting a digital signal over the air, but still no HD signal :(

Tonight 24 was broadcast in High Def from our Fox Station. It's about time. Now if only Fox would get guide data in MCE2005. Don't think that will happen though since the station is on 48-3. Looks like MCE2005 doesn't like to give guide data when the station is in the middle. If Fox was 48-1 then we wouldn't have a problem.

But it's great that we now have High Def programming on all 4 networks.

Can you receive the televisa/azteca channels in hd?
I can't seem to get signal up here in Edinburg with MCE2005 ATSC tuner. I get the local ones though.

tv azteca was 480i but i dont know if it is now.

xhab /televisa is 1080i and is transmitted from matamoros- the anchor said it was already transmitting hd (he showed a mexican soccer game on a hd screen) - its the channel that shows the soccer games .

i dont know about xerv.

I have spent these months since the Super Bowl on CBS HD finished growing angry at XHRIO because it was looking like this coming Super Bowl wouldn't be available down here in HD. Now they start HD, but will it be added to Time Warner? Does anybody know? They barley added KVEO in HD earlier this year so that leads me to believe XHRIO in HD might not be on Time Warner, at least before the Fall season when Broadcast TV really matters. On the other hand, when KRGV announced they would pick up LATV as a digital subchannel during a newscast, they mentioned they were gonna get the channel put on Time Warner, and a few weeks later it was added to the line up as a non HD digital channel, so that leads me to believe XHRIO could just be a few weeks away from being on cable. Does anyone have any inside knowledge or should we just wait and see?

To all of the South Texas folks,

I just purchased a home on Kornegay Road in San Benito. I will be moving there soon from Indiana.

I will need to make a decision regarding which TV media supplier to go with. I have been a Directv subscriber for the last 12 years and have been getting the local HD feeds with an outdoor antenna using the HR10-250. I have been very happy with that DVR, but alas, with the implementation of MPEG-4, the HR10-250 is soon to be useless.

I am considering going with the Time Warner package that includes internet, digital cable and digital phone. I'm not real excited about the TW DVR, but I could always buy a Tivo S3.

Or, I could go with Dish and get their VIP622 DVR, which works well.

Do any of you have any experience with Time Warner in that area? Have you been happy with their service and picture quality?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well James, I have not had any problems with Time Warner's HD quality personally, but you maybe be disappointed with the current HD lineup which is fairly small compared to DirectTV and Dish, but is about what the lineup is for most Time Warner systems in Texas. The lineup includes:

HBO HD (with subcription)
Showtime HD (with subscription)
NBC HD (KVEO-DT)
CBS HD (KGBT-DT)
ABC HD (KRGV-DT)
Discovery HD Theater
TNT HD
FSN Southwest HD (non 24-hour)
ESPN HD
Mojo HD (with subscription)
HD Net (with subscription)
HD Net Movies (with subscription)
Universal HD (with subscription)

When I first got Time Warner HD, ESPN HD was part of the HD premium package that includes the last 4 on the list, but I recently read an article that indicated ESPN would now be a regular HD channel you didn't have to pay an extra charge for, only the cost of leasing the HD box, but I do not know this for sure. ESPN 2 HD has started popping up in TWC systems where it hadn't before and so this channel for sure will be coming down here, but how soon is unknown.

FOX HD is the only local major network not on Time Warner because it is a newer channel and so only the analog version is available right now.

Overall, the picture quality of Time Warner HD is pretty good. All the problems I have had with any HD channels is due to my own problems with the cabling in my house, but now that it has been replaced, the HD looks as stunning as ever. Plus, it's nice getting the local HD feeds without any antennas. FOX HD should be coming along soon on Time Warner, but at least the original "Big Three" are part of the lineup of HD.

You are right not to be excited about the Time Warner DVR, the Explorer 8300 HD DVR is...well, ehh. It is way inferior to Tivo or Dish DVR, but it does serve it's purpose of recording and playing back. Plus I have had problems of the box crashing on me a few times, and my box was brand new in an unopened box when they installed it. Look around various forums, such as this website and you might find many more complaints about the 8300. I'm not up to date with boxes so TWC may have newer models available.


That my experience with Time Warner HD. I have been a Time Warner HD customer since December, so I've lived with it for a while and I am quite happy with their service.

No problem, TW really isn't too bad, they are about average and their customer service isn't too bad. If they ever give you problems, you can argue with them long enough to the point where they'll send someone out to your house at just about any time. I had a guy check out my Road Runner problem on a sunday afternoon, it was a long argument on the phone but it worked :D .


Now can someone can tell me if and when FOX HD will be on Time Warner...anyone? No one knows?

Iam from Pharr, i am getting 24 HD (tv azteca), 25 HD (tv azteca). Channel 24 HD has the best programming, since its an all day HD like 25HD. In Channel 24 HD you get Planet Earth, Movies, Its like watching Discovery, National geographic, HBO,Fox sports in 1 channel and the best part Its Free. Also you can change the Audio from English to Spanish or Spanish to English.


Its Better than ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX HD. Because its all day HD in both (24HD and 25HD).

I talked to both Time Warner and XHRIO (FOX) and both of them seemed confused by my questions about why XHRIO HD wasn't on cable.

I got to call XHRIO back in a couple of weeks for an update as to whether they are gonna be on cable in HD soon.

I created A Thread about Mexican HDTV (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=878152). Does Your Canal de las Estrellas Show HD, Because Here in Juarez, They only show about Half Of Muchachitas como tu in HD, also do you get Canal 5 in HD.

Just got off the phone with XHRIO (FOX) and they just told me they had a talk with Time Warner and XHRIO HD should be on Time Warner Cable within the next week. She told me August 6 is when they expect the channel will be up and going with this Wednesday being the soonest it could possibly come on.

Now that the 4 major broadcast networks will both over the air and on cable in the valley, now its time to wait and see if we get a CW affiliate (complete with an HD channel) and which local channel will be the first to produce local HD news. I bet its gonna be KGBT 4 (CBS).

Also it looks like the RGV finally has a CW affiliate(s)- lowpower stations KSFE 67 McAllen and KTIZ 52 Harlingen. They have been airing CW programming the past few days. Time Warner will also be adding these stations to channel 21. The picture is really bad, but seeing as how they're owned by Entravision there's a chance they may end up on one of KNVO's subchannels just like Telefutura and Fox.

Well if they are owned by Entravision, they might put the channel on a subchannel, but I think it's more likely they will go ahead and use that opportunity to bring the CW HD to the valley like they did with XHRIO and FOX HD, and then of course CW HD then moves into the Time Warner line-up and so then next getting MyNetwork TV an affiliation of its on rather than piggy-backing on XHRIO. Which I imagine would be Entravision's next project for the Rio Grande Valley...although I would rather see them start Digital Only channels instead of making new analog channels that will have to be flash-cut to digital soon anyway.

Well, XHRIO reps were partially wrong, they said XHRIO HD should have been on cable by now. I just got off the phone with Time Warner who for the first time confirmed to me XHRIO HD will be added to channel 870 on September 6, 2007 at the earliest.

I haven't checked my snail mail in a while, and i just got it...look at my cable bill and low and behold, a notice of increasing rates for service...but then I looked closer...and there is an $8.95 DECREASE in the cost of the HD Tier...which means it now costs $0.00 for the HD Tier...so excluding the cost of leasing the HDTV box, Time Warner is giving you all HDTV Channels free...also excluding HBO HD and Showtime HD that come with their respective premium packages


Satellite may be able to promise "X" amount of channels, but they can't give them to me free.

Time Warner added ESPN 2 HD today on channel 896, right behind ESPN HD on 895. After a recent chat with Time Warner, they let me know they were looking into adding a few channels by mid September. When they told me, their list didnt include XHRIO HD because at the time, XHRIO HD wasn't one of the channels they had access to. Since then they have come out to say XHRIO HD will be on.

So as it stands, ESPN 2 HD is the first new HD channel they put up, XHRIO HD should be next up by the middle of this coming week, then more should follow as September rolls along

No matter if you are on Satelite or Cable, it's gonna be good couple of months for HD

So our friend Silverthree was right about the CW channel, but this is an HDTV forum, so I'll just comment on the HD portions of that notice. We knew XHRIO HD was coming but there is the official comfirmation, what worries me is the part about Universal HD. If they don't get a contract extension, no more Universal HD and that is a big deal for sports fans because Universal HD will be airing nearly non stop coverage of the Bejing Olympics in 2008. As they release more legal notices regarding new HD channels, I will keep posting them here.

HD channels on Time Warner are free as long as you got an HD tuner, its pretty convinient. I personally only have an analog tuner in my HD monitor so I have to lease one of their digital cable boxes to get HD, but I'm not actually paying for the HD channels themselves.

You aren't getting FOX HD because Time Warner wasn't offering it. I actually put up with all the phone calls untill they finally cracked and told me September 6 was would be the first day FOX HD would be part of their lineup. Now that FOX HD is coming on the air through Time Warner, you should be able to pick that up too

I am a little confused by your list though, I don't undestand how you can pick up Mojo HD but not HDNet, HD Movie Net and Universal HD.

Well if it has to do with HDTV provided by Rio Grande Valley Time Warner Cable, you can bet I'll have some sort of update ;).

The representative from Time Warner told me September 6th (Today) was the earilest POSSIBLE date and unforseeable technical errors could cause XHRIO HD to be delayed. That appears to be the case as nothing is on so far.

I don't know if anyone noticed but the usual daytime shows on XHRIO are all messed up. The usual court shows are gone even though the program guide lists all of the shows as normal. For example the insider which is normally on at 6:00 PM was on at 4:00PM. Usually this is the spot for peoples court. This is the same for over the air at 48-3 and cable channel 6. I also noticed on channel 21 (Time Warner) the program lists this as XHRIO but it is showing Cspan2.

I know that CW is supposed to be on 21. Either today or sometime in the future.

Heck this morning when Judge Joe Brown was supposed to be on Martha Stewart was on. This was on XHRIO. She is supposed to be on CW.

Hopefully things will get straightened out before the new shows come on next week.

well my guide still says 21 is Cspan 2 and 53 is WB...yes, my guide actually says WB instead of CW

I just rescanned my channels and picked up FOX HD.......Excellent....yes, in time for the Cowboy game.

hello all, new to the forum. live in edcouch, have had dtv for about 12 years now. have the hr-20(hddvr) in my living room, and a h-20 in the bedrm. wondering if anyone else has a hr-20, have an OTA question. I have a 50" 35 element antenna in my attic. it splits to feed the OTA hd to both receivers. in the bedrm i get 4.1,4.2,4.3,5.1,5.2,5.3,9.1,23.1,48.1,48.2,48.3,48.4,60.1 in my living room i get it all EXCEPT for the univision subs. I cannot figure it out. I used to have the old samsung 360 dtvhd receiver and would get all fine. wondering if it is a receiver issue. can anyone shed any light on the issue? thanks.

I just saw a promo on KVEO for News Center 23...the end of the promo said it was gonna be the available in HD!!!! That sounds too good to be true, I'm gonna email Bill Jorn, KVEO General Manager, to find out if its for real for real or if my tv is just playing games with me.

I saw that promo today too; I know that bigger markets broadcast in HD. Maybe it's a part of their strategy to attract viewers. I sure do get disgusted with the make up caked on the Channel 4 News anchor. The make up is over the top, especially for those of us with digital TVs.

Am I the only one that has problems watching ABC while using a laptop? For some reason, it seems to interfere with the signal, but all of the other channels still work as they should (CBS, NBC, FOX, etc.). :(

Anyone know why XHRIO has different games in HD than SD?

If you notice, a bunch of their games recently have been in SD on their digital channel (KNVO 48-3 or TWC 870). If you watch carefully, you can see its because they often have a different game in HD than they are supposed to have, like today, they are supposed to show Carolina and Tennessee, but they have Atlanta and San Fransisco in HD, so because they arent allowed to show Atl/SF game, they show the Car/Ten game in SD.....

Anyone know why they wouldnt be provided with the same HD feed than SD? I'm tired of getting up on Sunday and wondering whether or not I'll be able to see the NFL on FOX in HD

KGBT doesn't have this problem with the NFL on CBS

Question from an ex-valley person here...are the local HD signals up on DirecTV yet? I used to be able to get the RGV stations via Dish, but it did some changing around and they're no longer viewable up here in Austin.

FOX HD is 048-03, so if you pick up the CW on 048-03 it seems like you should be able to get FOX HD too.

I am actually on cable, so I don't deal with antennas (yet, when I get a new HDTV with a tuner built in, I'll get into the antenna thing), but have you tried antennaweb.org (http://www.antennaweb.org)?

I live in San Benito and I use a cheap $30 Terk vhf/uhf non-amplified antenna in my attic. I receive all OTA stations available with no problem.

Try aiming your antenna west/southwest rather than towards Harlingen. The antenna farm is located at approximately 250 degrees from San Benito. You should get a stronger signal aimed in that direction.

I did as was suggested pointed my antenna more west south-westerly and now I get:

4.1 - 4.2 - KGBT stronger signal

5.1 - 5.3 - not as strong as before

7- analog spanish religious station

9.1 - XERV Televisa HD surprisingly strong

17 - XERV Televisa non-HD

23.1 - KVEO apparently strongest signal of all available

40 - Telemundo snowy signal

48.1 - 48.4 now, however, aren't as strong as before

54 - blank

60 - KMBH PBS

64 - blank spanish

Time Warner has added TBS HD to channel 904. Hopefully this will be the first of many HD channels they add to their cable lineup.

Have you had any issues with the TBS HD channel since its availability? I rescanned my channels with the built in digitial tuner I have, but I had no luck. I did an auto, standard, HRC, and IRC scan.

Anyone else with Time Warner having an outtage of all Digital and HD Channels?

All of my digital channels, SD or HD are nothing but black when I tune to them leaving me nothing to watch but *shudder*:eek: ANALOG.

yup, its 10:45 and still nothing, and on a 62 inch DLP, analog looks HORRID...uh...but, maybe it's a good thing, cause when the HD comes back, I can appreciate it for being so soo much better.

I watched the Grammys on ABC Sunday night with no problems. I live 17 miles from the tower.

Thanks for your reply Pilot. I added a little 12db in line amp before the splitter to my dual tuners. Everything seems to be working ok now. ABC still has the weakest signal strength but the tuners now lock on. No dropouts now. I am about 24 miles from the towers.

The HD issues being discussed are via OTA (antenna), not cable. Also, I wouldn't give up my Tivo HD just to switch to Sat.

I had Directv for 12 years and I now have Time Warner cable. I could go back to Directv if I wanted to, but the Tivo is so much better than the Directv DVR. I don't have any complaints about TW reception.

that wasnt the point of my post, no TW doesnt have very many channels, but its more than 3, not including locals, there are a few HD channels i get with my TW HD box that i would like to get on my new tv that doesnt have a box

I pick up the same channels with the basic RCA antenna. It came in handy on Thanksgiving when TW all of the sudden went off air during the Cowboy game.

I rescanned my channels to make sure nothing has changed, because just recently (Feb 6th or 9th) I received the expanded basic channels in digital, 480i though. No new HD channels yet. I was told by a tech rep at TW that with the digital package I would be able to pick up more digital channels, with the built in tuner. My apt complex provides the cable, so I didn't bother to upgrade. I think I have enough channels with expanded basic. Rescan your channels once a week for possible new channels.

I pick up the same channels with the basic RCA antenna. It came in handy on Thanksgiving when TW all of the sudden went off air during the Cowboy game.

I rescanned my channels to make sure nothing has changed, because just recently (Feb 6th or 9th) I received the expanded basic channels in digital, 480i though. No new HD channels yet. I was told by a tech rep at TW that with the digital package I would be able to pick up more digital channels, with the built in tuner. My apt complex provides the cable, so I didn't bother to upgrade. I think I have enough channels with expanded basic. Rescan your channels once a week for possible new channels.

If you have extra time and money, I would replace them with RG-6 coaxial cable. I'm not an expert, RG-6 is what I've read when researching. The cables may already be RG-6. I don't know how you can tell, except when buying a pack of cable line it'll say on the package (RG-6).

well i was able to pick up all the channels you listed so I'm happy now.

As far as cables, well, I live with someone who works with installing cable and phone lines and such, so I should be able to figure it out easy, I doubt I have RG-6, it's pretty bad coaxial.

Anyone else see how KVEO is now showing a local HD commercial?

It's a commercial for some insurance...forgot who, and it is in HD and actually in Stereo (seemed to be in 5.1 but for sure in Stereo). I first saw it today during Maury, I was flipping around showing off my new HDTV to a family member looking to get one and it came on. It's actually sort of exciting, if they can show HD commericals, they can show Syndicated HD (even though KGBT has the rights to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and XHRIO has the rights to Two And A Half Men, point being, it could be very possible)

A basic antenna will give you a small handful of channels with decent reception

thats what I get with the most basic antenna, with a more complex and advanced antenna you will get other channels.

To get a better idea of what channels you can get, just read previous posts on this thread.

Also, www.antennaweb.org will help you pick out an antenna if you are looking for one that'll give you the best results.



Also, you got those two OTA HD channels on basic cable because they are available on the Time Warner system. If you plug in your basic cable to your TV with an ATSC Tuner, you can pick up most (but unfortunatly not all) HD channels Time Warner (all locals plus channels like ESPN HD, TNT HD, etc.) has and even some Digital SD channels (like ESPNEWS or even for some odd reason, the west coast feed of Black Starz). The list of channels has also been previously posted.

KVEO just showed more of their HDTV capablities. Their little "Happy Easter" bumper was in HD/5.1. That makes the 3rd real HD thing I've seen on KVEO:

If KVEO still had the rights to Everybody Loves Raymond, do you think they would show that in HD? Better yet, do you think they would jump at the chance to get ANY syndicated HD shows once more of them start going HD?

So KVEO is obviously making some attempt to move foward, but what about the rest? Who do you think will be the next station to go HD? I say KRGV 5 (ABC) although KGBT 4 (CBS) might try to do it next.

XHRIO 2 (FOX) has the other Syndicated HD program, Two And A Half Men but I just don't see Entravision making the effort to make XHRIO full HD when XHRIO doesn't even have it's own digital channel. By all rights FOX HD should be 2-1 not 48-3, but what do you exepct from a channel thats licensed to Mexico?

And don't KRGV's 5-3. Soo NBC Weather Plus, that is interesting because KVEO's wikipedia page has been saying that you have operated a weather plus on 23-2 for quite some time now, but I've never seen it (obviously)....I can imagine the answer...but will the weather plus be in HD? You'd think it would be a waste of bandwidth but hey, this forum has proven that people will watch ANYTHING in HD.


I noticed the HD signal off thing for the last 3 days. You guys seemed to have gotten the kinks worked out tonight during the first "Criminal Intent". Does that also explain why the last few acts of last night's Conan rerun were switched out of HD?

One thing I was wondering about. If for what ever reason you guys preempted a show, could you (and would you) record it in HD and play it back in HD later? Like for example, those Leno/Conan reruns you guys show at like 3 or 4 in the morning. Or you were saying they are working on more HD promos, could you guys like record the network commercials that are in HD and show them in HD when you play them back during local programming? Speaking of that, when you say working on more HD promos spots, are you talking about spots for KVEO programming and NewsCenter 23 and Station ID's or are you talking about actual commercials like that J. Yeh I have seen those weather segments during the Today Show. I also saw last night that the regular KVEO station ID was in HD during Leno/Conan and it was in stereo....that's another thing, how come the sound on local programming is in Mono? I have a 5.1 Surround Sound setup and there is alot of nothing coming out of the surround speakers during local KVEO stuff with the exception of that J. Gonzales HD commercial, and the regular KVEO station ID mentioned above.

That little error you mentioned previously about the playback server triggering the HD signal off, I noticed that that was not a problem on Wednesday night except for one time, but since then it's still a problem, although Thursday and Friday were both all SD programming from NBC anyway. Last night during Leno the HD signal was shut off after coming back from a commercial that had the HD station ID but was switched back into HD shortly after and it wasn't a problem the rest of the night. And I noticed that it doesn't seem to be much of a problem in the morning during the Today Show. So I guess I'm asking what kind of progress they have made trying to work out the kinks?

Does anyone know if XHRIO Fox is going to upgrade their sound anytime soon? I know the programming they have is in DD 5.1 surround sound. For some reason they are only outputting DD 2.0 :(

We'll I've been watching and recording on DVR and the problem seems to be corrected. No problems that I personally have seen this weekend. Kudos to who ever seems to have fixed it.

Damn, that sucks for me, I'm moving to the Houston area in the winter so I won't get to see the full transition. Either way, it's fun tuning in and seeing something new in HD from you guys, even if it's as simple as a commercial or Station ID or something.

Although Analog of the Air Transmission ends on Feb. 17, 2009 it will not end on cable or satellite feeds. Also class A low power stations and translators can continue in analog SD. We will continue to feed the cable system in both HD and analog SD.

NBC's plans are to upgrade their satellite equipment in each of its affiliates to make it all HD digital capable. The next year will be interesting to see just how the different networks handle the changes.

These changes will also be in the big TV markets, so your move will still be interesting.

KVEO was the first in our corporation to do HD news. Although we were not first with HD promos and station IDs, we were first with a paid commercial in HD. We are looking for upgrades it that equipment to make it easier on our operators, (to have fewer errors and glitches) with the programming of the automation equipment.

Two possibilities, one it is not being sent to NBC affiliates in HD, or two, the master control operator messed up. The third is that there has been a failure with the NBC receiver, and no one called me. I am on vacation for a week, although I have to go in tomorrow to correct one of those problems that has come up with the WX plus.

Actually, it looked like it was that problem that Mla3710 was talking about. Because just before they came back from commercial during the second intermission report (and after I posted my initial comment), you guys showed the HD KVEO Station ID and Hockey came back in HD but was switched out less than a minute later. The game was for sure in HD and the NBC reciever is working just fine on the viewer end. No, from what I saw, it was a mix of the aforementioned problem and the master control operator messing up. Because it seemed like the same old problem of the playback server triggering off the HD signal, but at the same time, the master control operator could have very easily switched back into HD instead of leaving it in SD for it's entire duration as well as a portion of PGA Golf following that. It was in the middle of golf that it was switched into HD (where it remained) after being in SD.

Today I litterally sat at home all day and watched TV. This is how I spend my time when I'm not busy, and when I am busy, my DVR is ready to record what I can't catch live. Because I know you are on this form, if I find an error like this, I will report it as long as I find it.


EDIT: Medium was interesting tonight, it was mostly in SD with some random moments of HD

So I've noticed something odd. The HD feed still gets switched off after local HD Bumpers, but it ONLY happens during the weeknights in Prime Time. It's fine during the weekends. Tonight the Only about half of Medium was in HD, the rest was in SD because the HD feed was switched off. Maybe it wouldn't be such a big deal if as soon as it switched off, the Master Control operator switched back into HD as fast as they could, but that is hardly ever the case. I have actually timed everything out. From the time the show starts after local commercials to the time the HD feed is switched off, it takes roughly 20 to 22 seconds on average. Usually as soon as the onscreen NBC graphics that say whats coming up next disappear and the regular NBC screen bug appears in the left corner is when the feed switches off. It seemed like it was starting to get better, but it really hasn't. It becomes difficult to watch knowing that there is a high chance the HD feed will switch off and I'll be stuck watching SD. That is especially scary now that the entire Weeknight Prime Time schedule is All New now that Law & Order is returning.

We have issues with NBC HD in all of our Texas & Louisianna Markets. (El Paso, Brownsville, Tyler, and Baton Rouge).

The problem is that NBC supplies their satellite feeds on a KU Band satellite that is very susceptible to rain fades and inversions in the South.

At the present time there is no HD C-Band backup feed, so when the HD reciever fades there is no option but to switch to the SD KU or C-Band.

NBC anounced at the NAB convention Chief Engineers meeting last month that will be implementing a full time HD/SD satellite feed on both the KU Band and C Band satellites before the Summer Olympics this year.

actually the HD triggering off is an easy problem to fix, but requires the MCO to be very detail oriented as there is a command in the playback server that switches the HD signal off. If this command is not deleted, the server switches back to SD. It is true that there is some NBC HD feed signal loss at times, but this is rarely the case.

Actually Mla3710-The HD OFF command that you are speaking of was eliminated by an automation system upgrade over a month ago...........................

KVEO has added NBC Weather Plus in the KVEO-2 channel. Enjoy. We are still working with NBC on the reliability of the HD receiver.

Well HD off thing hadn't been a problem for a while, but yesterday (Saturday) it was a problem all night during primetime (SNL ran smoothly with no problems), it also happened once on Thursday that I saw, but other than that, I've seen no problems since my last post, just rare spotty incidences here or there that were nothing major to complain about.

As a viewer, I'm pretty satisfied with the work everyone down there at KVEO has done fixing these problems. Now I'm just patiently sitting back and waiting for more local HD stuff from ALL stations down here.

I live in Edinburg, and I'm having a hard time getting either of the azteca stations. My home faces east, and I have my antenna (outside) facing east/south east. I get good signal strength on all the other stations I receive.

I can get azteca 9 for short periods, with only 60% signal, and I get no audio with it...

Any help would be appreciated.

I currently have Time Warner Expanded basic cable.
No digital box. Just the expanded basic service.

if i were to buy a new HDTV with NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner, which channels would I expect to be able to get by simply plugging in my cable to the tuner on the TV. No antenna, no box.

I ASSume some people have done this? I really don't wanna have to deal w/ cable companies and renting boxes, etc. I dont need a bunch of the digital channels nor music channels - i have my own music I like.

There is a post towards the middle of this threat that lists what channels you will get and their channel numbers.

You can expect to find the 4 local HD Channels (KVEO, KGBT, KRGV, XHRIO), ESPN HD and ESPN 2 HD, TNT HD, Mojo HD, HD Theatre and FSN SW HD. I have yet to pick up TBS HD, HDNet or HDNet Movies. Non HD channels you pick up are ESPNEWS, NBA TV, KGBT 24-7 Weather and the west coast feed of Starz Black. ....oh by the way, you also get ALLLLLL of the music channels too :)

Digital OTA (HD & SD) channels are required to be carried "In the clear" on all QAM cable systems. If you connect a TV with a QAM tuner to cable and do a full analog/digital scan you will pick up the local HD channels.

Of course, after the scan you need to go back and turn off the hundreds of scrambled channel that it picked up with no video.

If you can find out the local cable QAM channels. (92.1 - 92.2 - etc) you can enter them direcrly and they will stay in the line-up.

Anybody notice that KMBH is now multicasting? Right now 60-2 and 60-3 are both airing v-me (spanish network) while 60-4 is airing other PBS shows.

i just bought an hdtv last week and did a scan and pick up a lot of channels. This board has helped a lot to figure out what channels were what btw, so thank you everyone for that. But, im not picking up NBC and Fox in hd, so im wondering should i get an antenna to "boost" the signal? if so does anyone recommend a certain one.... i have time warner extended basic with no digital box hooked up, just going straight from the wall to the tv.

When it scanned for channels, it stopped scanning after channel 129, but the tuner goes all the way up to 150 or something like that. I don't know why it just stopped scanning like that. I am assuming this is what has happened to you and you don't realize it. It was an accident that I figured it out myself, and lucky for you I did, so I could attempt to help. I used the list of channels that was posted on this thread and used my remote to tune to those channels individually and that worked for me. Trust me, NBC and FOX are there and they don't need any "boosting". However, I still would get an antenna so you can do OTA stuff, after all, this is an OTA thread. www.antennaweb.org can help you pick out a suitable antenna for your location, but I myself over here in Harlingen pickup the bulk of the channels OTA with a basic RCA amplified antenna on my HDTV and the same channels with an even more basic antenna with my laptop's ATSC tuner

local HD programming....it's a reality.

I'm watching the repeat of Ron Whitlock Reports right now on KVEO-DT and although right now KVEO isn't showing it in HD at this moment for whatever reason, it was in HD earlier and I just can't help but smile that it is a locally produced program and it's in HD.

On another note, i was looking at the Titan TV guide, and it showed the George Lopez show with a little HD logo, but not for today's showing, but with tomorrows and onward. I hadn't heard anything about George being the next syndicated HD show. Titan TV is usually pretty accurate when it says that something is in HD, I don't come across many errors, only omissions.

You might want to look into getting a TIVO HD box. That is what I am using with TWC and OTA antenna.

I get TWC expanded basic. With a little searching, I can get all of the channels that I want, digital and HD for the price of the expanded basic. Unfortunately, there is no channel guide for those channels, but you can use the standard analog channel guide data.

The TIVO also allows you to receive all the local OTA channels in HD and integrates the cable and OTA into one very easy to use channel guide.

With TIVO, you can record, pause, skip, etc. like the box that TWC provides, except the TIVO is so much more user friendly.

ok so heres the latest, bought an antenna, too bulky so I ditched that idea, sorry guys.. recently bought my father and hd tv, hooked his up, he has a cable box so he went to TW and swapped for an hd box. He picks up all the hd's i get, but on top of that he gets Fox, NBC, HDnet, TBS all in hd. I went to a friend's house, who lives less than a mile from me, and messed around with his tv because he didn't know he could get hd channels. Well we do a channel search and of course he gets fox and nbc in hd. Im gonna check out my splitter, im splitting it in my room to my tivo and my tv, im gonna try without the splitter and if thats the case i guess purchase a different splitter.

no dice, removed the splitter and it made no difference... i might just give in and get a cable box so i can get all the hd channels..

TBS HD are the only HD channels that you need an cable box for, however, I would get an HD DVR. I mean the Time Warner HD DVR is terrible, but you get all the HD channels and you can record them. They don't charge extra for HD and the DVR charge is like 7 bucks extra.

Speaking of Time Warner, I read an article on their website that said they were doing some huge expensive expansion or something of that nature. I don't recall what the article said exactly, or even when it was dated. I can't seem to find it anymore. All I know is that the article said December was when the changes would be complete....I need to find the article.

im wondering if a tivo hd will pick up the channels i want, only problem is i dont feel like spending 300 dollars only to find out it doesn't. What i did today was brought my dad's tv in here and sure enough i pick up those channels. Its like my tv wont search higher than channel 126 even though the progress bar shows it has just a little bit more to go. Who knows, i just sent off an email to dynex to see if they help if not, i'll get in contact with best buy and hopefully trade this one in..

anyway, back to the matter at hand....

KGBT is having all sorts of problems right now from what i am coming to find


i went back home and got my QAM tv and i tuned to KGBT DT that way. instead of seeing the channel, i got a black screen that simply said "loss of imput signal"

that can mean 1 of 2 possible things.

1. KGBT cant get their digital signal out across cable either

OR

2. in addition to having OTA transmittion problems, they are having problems switching to HD too. they were showing PGA golf that is supposed to be in HD when i saw that.

4-1 is back up OTA :) i was able to pick it up when i got up this morning


still no cable though....oh well, as long as i get the 4 channels OTA, ill manage.

well that "loss of input signal" screen i saw on KGBT was all about them switching to HD. every CBS HD program today have been shown in SD.

kinda actually ruined Katie Couric's HD debut....


i emailed KGBT to see when they think the HD feed will be back on the air.

During the hurricane, our main CBS satellite dish LNB’s suffered water damage. We have ordered new ones that should arrive sometime tomorrow. We are still able to transmit a digital signal, but not the HD component.

Got a guy coming from best buy to replace the board on my tv which hopefully will also help it scan the right channels.. hey pilot i got a question, all my hd's including local say title to come, basically gives me no info, was it the same for you and did it just take some time for the tivo to realize what channels they are?

i could probably answer that for you, even though i dont have tivo..yet..

you need to get a cable card from Time Warner in order to get guide info for HD channels. otherwise you are just tuning to clear QAM which is incapable of showing guide date. you will also get more channels with cable card than without it, but you dont need it, its just more of a hassle

You will never get guide data for digital cable without the cable card unless Tivo enables that feature. It is possible, but not likely because there is no profit advantage for them to do so. Also, the cable companies want you to purchase their digital package to increase their revenues. Tivo doesn't want to step on the cable companies because without cable, Tivo dies.

However, if you connect an antenna to the Tivo, you will get all the locals in HD with guide data.

i didnt see any of CBS programming last night....but the HD is on today, so that problem is no longer an issue.

Looks like everybody made it through Dolly ok. I just got my cable & cable modem back up & running last night (Wednesday). I also had trouble receiving channel 4-1. I havent checked yet but did channel 12 ever get their weather sub channel up & running?

Watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in HD OTA via KVEO was amazing. I just wish all the other local OTA channels were delivered in as good quality as KVEO's broadcast. :)

Lame. NBC tape delayed the USA vs Argentina game. I heard it was live in Nebraska which is also central time, and that it was definitely live on the Olympics NBA channel that satellite carries. unless things have changed in the 2 weeks ive been gone, 20.1 is inactive, it is licensed to KTLM, but from what I read, they are going to do a flash cut. They will start digital as soon as they stop analog.

Yes they are. I was able to pick up this station for the first time ever this morning. The signal wasn't too strong but it was KTLM DT20 (40.1). Also coming in were XERV 19 (9.1) and XHOR 33 (14.1).

I think KTLM is not broadcasting at full power so it basically only covers Starr county. But vikmars is right they want to change their digital channel from 20 to 40 so we might have to wait till February to get the full power signal.

Hey everyone, I ordered Dish Latino MAX last year for my parents and I had the NFL Network. The season has started as of today and it is now a "premium/pay channel". Does anyone else have this issue with Dish or Dish Latino?

BTW, I live in San Benito and I connected a TERK indoor amplified antenna and got some HD channels. Then I bought a $27 rooftop amplified rotating antenna and picked up all of the above mentioned channels except 11.1 Azteca 13hd. I also get the 5 Christian HD channels (KLUJ 44) as 34.1, 34.2, 34.3, 34.4, and 34.5.

It seems KGBT-DT has not broadcasted anything in HD for the last week. Has anyone else noticed this?

well, im back in the Valley for the weekend, and i see what "awbfd" said about KGBT not showing HD. that is very disappointing coming home to CBS SD.

Yeah, they showed the NFL games in HD on sunday, but everything else has been SD. I emailed the engineer but never got a reply. Hopefully they'll get this fixed soon as it's been going on for a few weeks now.

even though 4.3 is only showing black screen, is it still sucking up bandwidth? It bugs me see that my antenna and tv lock into 4.3 and yet it's has nothing on it.

isnt 5.3 a doppler radar? would they drop that for RTN or would they actually put up a 5.4 channel?

I'm back in Harlingen for a visit.

My step-dad has Dish Network VIP 722 HD DVR and he's using a Philips MANT940 outdoor antenna to pull in OTA stations.

The problem is, he's not getting guide info for KVEO, KNVO 48-4, and a few others.

Is that an issue with the station not sending out guide info or with Dish Network not displaying it?

Of all the channels he's not getting info for, KVEO is the channel he cares most about. He's using the listings for analog KVEO to see what's on and setting up manual recordings on digital KVEO.

well as for 48-3 they are not sending any epg info as well as 48-4
but im reciving epg info from kveo.

also lately KVEO's signal has been terrible....if that was even possible...like, between 78 and 82 % signal and it keeps cutting out and losing signal. It is completely unwatchable. Is that just a problem with our set up or are other people having KVEO signal issues. This is the first time we have had any type of signal issue with KVEO.

ok, is anyone having problems with 4-1.....my signal is at 90, but i cant pull anything in. no picture or sound. just an error message from my Dish box that says it lost the signal....wondering if its just me.

my step-dad set all this stuff up himself, and he did an OK job, but now that im here im trying to set him up for optimal performance and im having all sorts of signal issues....but i dont know if its just me or what.

I have lost most of my HD channels via my TivoHD.

There are several possibilities for this..

1) Technical issues

2) TWC has allowed their contracts to lapse

3) TWC is juggling their frequencies

4) TWC in the Valley is beginning to use SDV (switched digital video)

If you don't know about SDV, then you should do some research. TWC is going SDV all over the country to help them with bandwidth. However, TivoHD and Qam tuners will not be able to tune in those SDV channels that were once in the clear, as it requires two-way communication such as appropriate cable cards.

There is a tuning resolver that is now being tested by the cable companies that will connect to the TivoHD via USB that will allow for SDV viewing.

Those resolvers are due out at the end of the year, and are supposed to be free. However, a truck roll will be required.

The cable companies are supposed to announce that they are going with SDV, but I have received no communication regarding that. Also, I cannot find anything on their web site.

Since you had two postings with trouble from two channels, I would suspect that you may have a receiving problem.
On another subject, the TV guide, it has been located to the satellite service not picking up the information from their contracted listing service. We checked with then and the listing service. The listing service has the correct information on all except the programs that are changed in short notice, and even we have trouble there.

Been a while since I've posted...

I live in Edinburg, and I have a friend that lives a couple of blocks away, and she can pick up 9.1 and 7.1 (?) and 12.1 just fine with a simple antenna...
Yet me with my big rooftop antenna a few amplifiers have no luck...I can get 9.1 barely...I lose it on the longer cable run to the kitchen tv. I imagine I should be able to get these channels aswell...

I tried antennaweb.org, and they only list 9.1. But if someone a couple of blocks away can get them...don't see why I should not be able too...any suggestions?

Does your friend have an outside antenna? 7.1 is XHAB. I get 9.1 sometimes- depends on the weather. Rarely do I get 7.1 which is DT ch 30. Try pointing your antenna the same direction as your friend. Sometimes even moving the antenna just a tiny bit makes a big difference.

The U.S is not going to have any DT channels in the 60s. I'm not sure about Mexico, but probably not either. Someone else may know more about that. One channel you can be looking out for is DT ch 51 which will be the digital signal of XHVTV analog ch 54. According the FCC records their tower will be in El Control- somewhere between Reynosa and Matamoros. The FCC also recently approved DT ch 41 in Rio Bravo.

Well, I bought a new 10 ft mast this weekend, and swapped out the old 4 ft one that had come with my antenna. After a little adjustment I was able to get 12.1 and 9.1 to come in just fine. All the analog channels I get now come in clear, where as before a few had snow or were unwatchable.

On a side note, I have to plug in my antenna straight to tv, as the tuner on my dish network vip211 seems rather picky on what channels to detect. It would not pick up 9.1, but if I connect it straight to tv I can get without any problems.

I also picked up 38.9 and 38.10, but they both say "currently not in use".

38.9 and 38.10 are related to a service called "UpdateTV" which PBS stations across the country are picking up:

They have no programming on them, and most tuners/TVs are supposed to ignore that 38.9 and 38.10, though some display them as blank subchannels.

Been a while since I've posted.


Well, let's see, since my last post I have played around a lot with our antenna set up and now I'm pulling KGBT 4.1, KRGV 5.1 and KVEO 23.1 in with just about perfect signal. XHRIO/KNVO 48.3 still has a weak signal, but it's watchable.


As far as guide info, still nothing for KVEO. I emailed Dish Network about it and they told me they were going to solve the problem, but still nothing yet. Until then, it still just says "Digital Service".


Currently our antenna is mounted at the highest point in our attic, and its angled in an awkward direction, but it seems to work. How much of a difference, if any, would mounting it outside make? I doubt he wants to put up a giant mast on the roof, so it wouldn't be too much higher up if it went outside.

We have talked to Dish network about the lack of a guide for channel 23. The use a listing service, there is no need for them to not to have it, unless (just my opinion) that Channel 23 is in negotation for retransmission and that is their way to make things difficult. Again just my opinion.

On the antenna issue, an outside antenna might help. Getting away form metal obstructions and foil insulation might make the antenna work better. Most of the transmitters are south of La Feria, TX for the lower Rio Grande Valley.

Hey everyone, well seems as if i've lost more channels since the last time i posted. I would say about 4days ago i lost TBS which was coming in on 86.6, i can still pick up tbs on 44 but the picture quality is junk. Channels are being re-arranged, FSC use to be on 87.5 and now all of a sudden its a QVC type network. And finally the killer I get home last night flip on ESPNHD on 93.2, watched for a few mins and turned it off to go to the kitchen and cook up some dinner. Later on went back to my room flipped on the tv and i lost ESPNHD on both my tv and tivohd, same goes for ESPN2HD on ch 125.1. the really strange thing on my tv, which is a Dynex DX-LCD32-09, I lose the channel completly, its not like its there with no picture, the channel just isn't there anymore. This morning i did a channel scan and sure enough those channels i've lost, i didn't even pick those channels back up. Is anyone else experiencing such issues.

FYI.. I live on the north side of mcallen if location might have anything to do with it.

I don't think your location has any relevance. I live near San Benito, and I am experiencing the same issues. Clear Qam channels keep disappearing.

I’ve asked TWC about the issue, but I can’t an intelligible response. They just want us to rent their box, so they don’t care about those of us who don’t want their lousy box.

Thanks for listing those channels. When I do a channel scan on my Tivo, I get over 700 channels. The vast majority are VOD, or there is nothing there. It makes it almost impossible to find the active channels.

I checked some of the channels that you posted, and they are the same here in San Benito.

I'm guessing that TWC in the Valley is getting ready for Switched Digital Video which will require a tuning adapter to receive digital channels without using their box or cable cards. I know that they have already deployed SDV in Austin, so it makes sense that they will do so here too.

Keep us posted on any additional channel changes/additions that you find, especially in HD.

RTN has been on ch 5.3 since Friday.

On the recording and playback of syndicated programs, we have had some success and some failures. The standards that come down the satellite vary as to data rate and coding. We have been successful with the Ellen show after several trys. We have upgraded the player to handle faster data rates. It is an ongoing project to find where all the little and big problems are. It takes a perfect signal from the satellite or there is no way to know just what the results will be.

Well they looked great when I saw them in HD, and I love that you are showing them without any little bug graphics, but if do end up putting a little station ID logo on there, please just something small, like a really small 23 will do, nothing else.

I'm running MCE2005. Was wondering before I rescan all channels does RTN on 5.3 have guide data available yet in Windows MCE2005?

Yep, those are the only syndicated shows at the current time. The bug will be coming but I don't know the exact timing. Currentlly the only HD bug is the one for our news. We have a different bug for HD and for analog.

How do you get FOX but not Univision? Univision is 48.1 and FOX is 48.3, you can't get FOX without Univision.

As for Azteca, XHMTA is channel 11 and they don't broadcast in digital, however, they are actually a Mexican station and Mexico is not going digital yet, not for a very long while. Any station with call letters starting with an "X" belong to Mexico (including FOX XHRIO) and those analog channels are staying on the air, or at least they should be.

Azteca America is not a Mexican station. It's the US version of TV Azteca and can be found on low power stations in the RGV (ch 35 and 57 in McAllen and ch 64 in Brownsville). They don't have to go digital yet but I think they have applied for a low power dtv in McAllen.

KMBH ch 60 turned off its analog signal at 11:59pm Tuesday. The others are still on.

I read that KGBT and KVEO were now in HD on Dish Network, but I can't seem to find them anywhere, when I type in 4 or 23, it takes me to regular KGBT and KVEO. Is there something I'm missing?

We are doing the side fill with our news stories that are 4X3. But our master control is not HD production equipped so that is not being done. But you have given me an idea how it can be done, so let me take it to management and see what they say.

Yes Dish and Direct TV are carrying us in HD. I don't have either of them here at home, but our promotions director has seen them on her satellite receiver. I think she had Direct TV. Give the satellite vendor a call. I think HD has been active since mid December.

DirecTV has been doing RGV locals since December, Dish Network locals have been going since mid March.

I still haven't been able to find you, on top of that, I don't have program data for KVEO-DT when I use my Dish DVR to record Over The Air

KTLM is currently testing their digital signal right now on ch 40.

Another note of interest: XHRIO has been assigned DT 26. Look on page 2 of the following link.

The program data (PSIP) information is encoded into the data stream of the digital transmitter. So if you can't get KVEO-DT than you do not have the data.

I have no explanation for why you can't get KVEO-DT. It is co-located with channel 23 KVEO Analog. Try putting in Channel 24 into you tunner. See if that works. I have had one viewer where that corrected the problem.

My Corporate Chief engineer has corrected me and mentioned that Dish DVR gets it Over The Air information from Tribune Media.

We have worked with them with little success in the past.

If your remote has an audio or SAP button, try pressing it. The same thing happened to me with XERV and a few of the other stations and this is how I was able to fix it. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what the problem could be.

Telemundo plans on making a flash cut to Digital on June 12 the day Analog is shut down. I understand they have modified part of their transmitter for Digital. The analog and digital will be on the same channel, so they can not have both on at the same time.

WHAT? how did you do that, I moved from Harlingen to the Houston Media Market and I can't even get KPRC (or any other Houston OTA) from my location.
