I have a 42" panasonic plasma display. I get pink dots skattered in groups on the screen. I only get mainly when I watch cable TV. Some channels have more. Mainly on grey backrounds. I have had the cable company out twice. They have never seen this before. They chandged out the HD box and I still get them. I had a Tech from Tweeter out and They couldn't help either. I called Panasonic and they have never heard of pink dots. Only black dots. The only thing that is out of the ordinary is that I have long run of component cable to the TV. About 50'.

Anybody ever heard of or seen this problem? Anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Mark

Here are some questions that will assist forum members make suggestions/

Have you calibrated the set with avia or equivalent?
Do you see the pink dots with other connection such as s-video?
50' is a long run of component cable - normally changing cables is one step in the process to see if the cables are the issue.
You mention cable, do you see this on SD and HD?
What is the output of the cablebox: 480i, 280p. 720p, 1080i, passthrough?
Do you see this from your DVDs? What is the DVD connection to the TV?
Are you switching the video signal through a stereo receiver?

I have a Samsung 42" Plasma and I was getting pink dots I called Samsung and they sent someone out and he fixed the problem. He said the voltage needed to be adjusted. He said with some plasmas, when they settle into the tempature of the home they sometimes get the dots and the voltage needs to be adjusted. I hope this helps someone.

I have a 42" plasa with the same problem.

It's a panosonic th-42pwd3 and yeah it's old about 5 years now.

I moved the tv from one location to another and the air temp did change so maybe this is what made the pink dots show up?

They have gotten worst over time now, and they did not start until I tried changing the color and aspect of the screen.

They are very bad in high lighting conditions when the screen goes white or when there are bright screen shots, like sun, clouds, lights, flashes and alot on cartoons and things like that.

I have gotten many helpfull answers but none have helped!

What I've tried: useing power point with a white screen to try to equlize the screen, tried using a magnet yeah like that was going to werk..... on a plasma!
Degausing ring also kinda stupid for a plasma, but these are things people sugested that I've tried.

I feel your pain in this situation and wish I could help out more I am going to look into that adjusting the voltage post maybe someone could help out with this, Like I said this is a 5 year old plasma and panasonic told me "out of warrenty take it to a tv repair shop", yeah not going to happen when I could buy a new one for the price to get repaired.

you guys didn't by any chance bring your plasmas home from the store laying flat in your car did you? Didn't see the actual post, but I remember someone posting that a Panasonic tech guy once posted here about the dangers of transporting a plasma laying flat in a car or SUV or whatever. Supposedly the tech posted that even if you make it home ok and the glass didn't break, the little plasma cells get stressed and possibly even damaged when transporting a plasma flat like that, and after maybe a year or so that damage shows up on screen as - pink dots. Pink.

I have had this exact problem on my Panasonic 42" plasma, TH-42PWD3. It is mostly in the upper areas of the screen and worse when the box is warmer. Fans have helped some, but the best fix was decreasing the screen brightness to cinema mode instead of dynamic. The whole set is much cooler and no more pink crawly dots around clouds, etc.!

I bought a 32 inch Insignia from Best Buy a couple of months ago. I put it on the wall in my kitchen/dining area. Looks great! But, I see those annoying pink dots flickering around all over the whiter areas of the display. It does seem a little bit more noticeable when the reception is only SD. When a channel is coming in the cable line at 720p or 1080i, I still see the dots, but not as much. It was upright when I transported home, I lowered the brightness, contrast, sharpness, went into cinema mode, etc. - the room temp is in the low to mid 60's. Should I get a calibration done on this? Have a tech come out? Don't tell me I have to take this thing back, if I even can? Am I screwed? Say it aint so Joe, it's the Christmas season!
