View Full Version : Yankees in HD from YES on DirecTV, Comcast, TWC!
The YES broadcast isn't in HD over DirecTV today. It is on ESPN, though.
Still, the Toronto/Detroit game looks nice on MLB Extra Innings.
It should be on 622 HD TODAY with the HR 20, ACCORDING TO WHAT I WAs told by CS...

It is if you are in the NY dma, have an mpeg4 receiver and 5 lnb dish.
raoul5788 04-02-07, 01:40 PM thanks raoul5788, by any chance are the Mets carried in HD BY dIRECTV?
I don't think they are yet. Here is a link to look it up:http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P3000004
Is it in HD on 622?
With the game being broadcast on ESPN in HD, the YES broadcast is not offered nationally in HD.
ftboomer 04-02-07, 01:57 PM Blacked out in Tampa on BHN. Damn, WHY? It's being played in NY isn't it?
scarfa21 04-02-07, 02:06 PM Yeah im in Buffalo, and its not on in HD. DirectTV idiot said i wont be getting YES HD.

Don't blame the csr at D*. When the new sats go up you will likely be getting YES hd.
Only the NY dma is getting it for now. The hd rsn's are on spotbeams so they are not available outside of the NY dma.

I guess, im watching it on CV HD in NYC right now..

Doesn't TB have their own broadcast on Fox Sports Net Florida? That's why no ESPN or YES.
Got to protect the locals.
Is the HD PQ better with the mpeg4 box than the older HD irds?

Good question that I can't answer. I have heard it is, but don't know. Sorry!
ScoBuck 04-02-07, 06:06 PM thanks raoul5788, by any chance are the Mets carried in HD BY dIRECTV?
In fact SNY is now a FULL-TIME HD channel - but you have to be inside the NYC DMA. If I read correctly that you are in Brooklyn - then 100% guaranteed you can get it - but you need the 5lnb dish - and either a H20 or HR20 DVR.
It is at channel 625 (you will have both a SD channel 625 AND a HD channel 625).
The HD channel was lit full time on March 2nd.

But of course if you do a look up on Directv's site, it doesn't show as available!
i just signed up, earliest install date is April 12th, they must be pretty busy in this area....

yes, by a good bit too. it's noticeable to me, and i don't notice anything...
To D* subs who are in the YES RSN area, but are not in the footprint of the NY metro area MPEG-4 spot beam, tomorrows 1PM game with the D-Rays shows up on my HR10-250 Guide on the BHD channel #731. My advice would be to start focusing on the BHD channels, 730 and 731, and away from ch. 95 for any YES-HD games you might get.
Here's the link for D*'s MLBEI schedule:

Thanks for the heads up, Bidger. That's the ei package that is free for this week. I'm not sure of the exact dates. Free baseball!
Sunday will be the final day of the freeview, Chip. They'll repeat the freeview Thursday-Sunday the week of the All Star Game.

Do you mean channel 737? That's where the Met game is. Maybe because it's the Cardinal's broadcast. It is on channel 625.
Yes your correct raoul5788, should be interesting day tomorrow ,Yanks at 1pm, Mets later in the day , Red Sox Friday afternoon.. Getting my new mpeg4 decoder byy next thursday the 12th

Hope we get the 2nd game Texas vs Angels 4pm on 95, doesnt seem to be listed to be in HD in the 730's
Looks like we're blacked out of Mets in HD on 730 and 94 :(
Looks like we're blacked out of Mets in HD on 730 and 94 :(
Because its the Cardinals broadcast - not SNY
I had a long conversation with the CSR HD department a few days ago before i ordered the HR 20, and he assured me that i would get the Met and Yankee games today in HD on channels 730 or 731 with my HD Tivo. Question is, do they ever know what they're talking about??????????????
Rhino4787 04-04-07, 11:45 PM Hey guys, I have a unique situation here and was hoping someone can help. I live in south FLA, but am a diehard Yankees fan. So we decided to call direct tv and change the address to our old NY address. Now we get local NY channels, YES, SNY, all the games..great! But I want my Yanks in HD. I bought the package last year but did not have HD. Today I go to the Extra Innings HD channel, 730 for the Mets Cards HD game and it says "Not Available in your area". I go to channel 94, Mets and CARds HD, same thing. I go to ESPN HD 72, Mets/Cards and u guessed it...same F'in garbage! The only channel I could watch the game on was standard definition SNY, which sux! How can ESPN HD be blacked out? IS it because according to dtv I live in NY and should have SNY HD? Is there any way to get YES HD in south fla, or at least be able to watch the NY HD games on ESPN or channels 94-95? Thanks fellas!

Thanks fellas! This is a complete shot in the dark here, hopefully someone will clairfy for me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the YES-HD feed (and possibly SNY-HD) from D* was a "spot beam" to the tri-state area, so you wouldn't be able to pick up the signal if you're physically located outside of the NY regional market, since your dish can't "see" the signal.
The other possibility might be that MLB extra innings won't show you Mets and Yankees games, since extra innings is only for "out of market" games, and D* thinks you are in the NY market. Therefore, (and again, this is just guessing on my part), Mets and Yankee games in HD on extra innings will be blacked out since you're technically in the NY market. Same goes for ESPN - you're not "allowed" to see games from your local market on ESPN outside of their exclusive Sunday night games.
capsmvp 04-05-07, 12:23 AM The Extra Innings package used the St. Louis feed tonight, which is what would black it out in New York.
I'm afraid to upgrade to a 3 lnb directv dish, because my package is locals for 5.99 and the sports pack for $10. that's it. I do not want an expensive (base) package with direct, and I am afraid they would do that to me.
Rhino4787 04-05-07, 12:53 AM So if I change my address back to the FLA one, I should be able to get the Yanks in HD when they are on Extra Innings HD or channel 95 correct? And either way I get the sunday game in HD? That would explain why I got the Mets opener last Sunday Night. Thanks alot for responding!
bakntime 04-05-07, 02:09 AM So if I change my address back to the FLA one, I should be able to get the Yanks in HD when they are on Extra Innings HD or channel 95 correct? And either way I get the sunday game in HD? That would explain why I got the Mets opener last Sunday Night. Thanks alot for responding!I wish I knew more (and I'm sure someone should be able to tell you for sure), but assuming you have the Extra Innings package, you will at the very least get most, if not all, Yankees and Mets games on extra innings. In addition, you SHOULD get any extra innings HD games for NY teams if/when available on ExtraInnings-HD.
Should you keep things the way they are, you are able to get YES and SNY, but no Yankees/Mets games on EI - they will be blacked out since extra innings is only for out-of-market games.
And either way, you will always get ESPN-HD Sunday night games regardless of your market. There are no blackout restrictions on those games.
I would say that if you have Extra Innings, you're probably better off being outside the NY market, since you won't be blacked out of NY games on Extra Innings, PLUS you'll never be blacked out of any NY games that take place on ESPN/ESPN2, including ESPN/2-HD.
Please take all this with a grain of salt, as I may be completely wrong, but I think that's the general way it works.
GO YANKEES!
Ron14845 04-05-07, 08:57 AM I live in upstate ny(Elmira area) and have been told at least six different things by *D on YES HD. I now assume that the only way I will get YES HD is to wait for the new sat. to go up. Last year some of the games were on ch 95. Our TWC has added YES HD fulltime so I will put my *D sub on suspention and add cable for baseball season. This type of thing is what is so frustrating to me with *D. Can anyone give me some info on this because I was told as of April 1 that I would receive YES HD on ch. 622 aand SNY on ch 625-thanks, ron
Rhino4787 04-05-07, 08:23 PM Thanks again for the effort! Tonight the Yanks-Rays game is coming in on channel 95 and 731, both the YES HD feed! I'm happy it's working, but I'm not sure why and I don't know if it will remain all year? I think I am going to order the EI and keep my local NY channels and hope I keep getting the yanks HD on 95. I don't understand why the mets game was blacked out last nite but the yanks game comes in tonite on HD. Any thoughts? Thanks again! Go Yanks!
You are eligible to get YES in hd, but like I said, you need the 5 lnb dish. There are two styles, the AT9 and AU9. They look like this:
5LNB (AU9 Slimline) was installed today and now I am getting YES HD and SNY HD. I live in in the New York DMA (Piscataway, NJ 08854) should I be getting more HD channels other than YES HD and SNY HD or will I see a significant difference later in the year with the new HD sattelites that are going up? Thanks again for your help raoul5788.

You didnt get the Mets game yesterday because it wasnt broadcast by SNY in HD, They used the St. Louis HD feed
Rhino4787 04-05-07, 11:34 PM So the EI package will blackout all NY games in HD unless they use the YES or SNY HD feeds? Even if they list the game on one of the EI HD channels like 730-731?

When the new sats go up you will see many more hd channels. BTW, it's Chip, Raoul5788 is just a screen name.

OK. Thanks for the info and help again Chip. Approximately do you know when they are putting the new sattelites up?
raoul5788 04-06-07, 12:27 PM OK. Thanks for the info and help again Chip. Approximately do you know when they are putting the new sattelites up?
They were both scheduled for this year, but one may be delayed until next year. One of them should be up and running by late summer or early fall.
Well i was scheduled to have the 5 lnb dish and mpeg 4 ird installed today, they havent called yet, but im pretty sure they wont do the install on this rainy day , dam
Well, they came , and after about an hour, nothing got done, i have the triple lnb dish mounted on an old C Band pole, about 8 feet off the floor of the roof, they told me the new dish needs a new mount, as the mount for the 5lnb dish is not same size as mount i have now. Dam am i pissed, waisted entire day
Any1 know who does custom installs in Brooklyn, i used to know 2 guys who would come over , and just do the job the way you want it done, seems with Directv installers they've got all these rules and whatever, and wont bend on an install.

I did have a little, but I think it was weather related.
POWERFUL 06-25-07, 02:38 PM Is there anyone on the forum who knows where you can contact at YES about letterboxing their SD version of the Yankee game?
raoul5788 06-25-07, 03:51 PM Is there anyone on the forum who knows where you can contact at YES about letterboxing their SD version of the Yankee game?
By letterboxing, do you mean with bars on the sides, or on the top and bottom? If sides, that is the standard 4:3 ratio that sd quality brings.
POWERFUL 06-26-07, 12:15 AM on the top and bottom, I mean SD the HD version but give us it in 16x9 format. NBC does exactly that.
