View Full Version : Digital16-9.com : European HT rooms !
Hi there!
I am pleased to introduce you to www.digital16-9.com , that presents about 450 European home theater rooms, dedicated or not.
The website administrator has recently developped some English and Spanish versions and we would be pleased to have a few overseas hometheater rooms in our database!
My dedicated room is of course available there!
www.digital16-9.com/scripts/photos_generique.asp?ID=31901
You can also give your opinion about any of those rooms! :)
Thanks for your visit!
Fred
Nobody interested? No comments?
greighn 06-06-05, 09:03 PM Fred,
Very nice site! Lots of great home theaters of all types and sizes. It's interesting to see the similarities and differences of home theaters in other countries.
Its good to see the universal appeal that cinema and home theaters has.
As I get some time I plan to look through the site in more depth.
Thanks for sharing the link.
-Gary.
Pinstripe 06-06-05, 09:22 PM Your grotto is spooky. Très impressionnant, but spooky!
Hello guys!
Thanks for your comments!
It is true that home theater is a universal hobby!
I created my room about one year ago. Initially it was a wine storeroom where they stocked the fresh grape juice once it was squeezed. It was build in 1868.
As you can see from the pictures, I kept a small part of the cellar to put a few good bottles....
Regarding the website, please note you can leave some comments about any home theater rooms published there. Also you can put yours there! ;-)
Thanks again. Take care!
Fred
Some other comments?
In fact, we already have one or two North American home theater rooms on our website : Fatbulldog which is the most seen (n°1)....
Do you feel like trying?
;-)
Fred
Hello Gary,
Thanks for your email message and your interest in digital16-9.com.
It is great that you publish some pictures of your home theater system. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I hope some other avs members will follow and publish their system!
Thanks again! I look forward to seing your home theater!
;-)
Fred
Toxarch 06-08-05, 06:18 PM Nice site. Can't understand the comments, but still interesting to see the pictures. I would have loved to have a cellar like yours, only not so steep stairs.
Redhouse 06-08-05, 08:27 PM Nice site, it's wild looking at what "Home Theater" is around the world.
Is this how you spell "Home Thearter" over there?
Redhouse
Thanks guys!
It is true that the stairs are quite steep! Not much choice there!
The English version has only been available for one week so please allow a few more weeks for people to translate their presentation comments. I will do it for mine very shortly! In the meantime, you can of course leave comments in English, peple will understand you!
Where did you see this spelling mistake exactly? We'll correct it....
Thanks again for visiting.
Fred
Nice room that you have Toxarch!
You shall try to publish it in our website, it's pretty easy! ;-) and free!
Fred
Redhouse 06-09-05, 01:41 PM Across the top of your page, the Home Theater tab is spelled wrong, you have Thearter.
Redhouse
thanks, I will mention this to the website administrator!
Fred
Redhouse,
Do you feel like publishing a few pictures of your room?
It is a very nice system....!!
Fred
Redhouse 06-09-05, 02:29 PM Redhouse,
Do you feel like publishing a few pictures of your room?
It is a very nice system....!!
Fred
Thank you, I'll look into it tonight.
There's one guy on that site (mjim22)
that has some neon sound system signs, that are very cool.
Redhouse
Redhouse 06-09-05, 02:38 PM Anyone one else notice that most of the dedicated rooms one that site don't have any acoustic treatments? I don't think I have seen any yet.
I see a lot of High end gear in some of the rooms, but nothing for acoustics.
Redhouse
I think there are a few ones with acoustic treatment....
What about this one ?
http://www.digital16-9.com/scripts/photos_generique.asp?ID=9771
Fred
Redhouse 06-09-05, 04:04 PM Does he say what kind of treatment that is? I have never seen anything like it.
Your room is nice, there are many rooms on that site with very creative use of space.
Redhouse
Toxarch 06-09-05, 08:22 PM Thank you, I'll look into it tonight.
There's one guy on that site (mjim22)

Redhouse
They aren't neon. They are acrylic and possibly LEDs. I've seen them with white florescent lights. The silver bar at the top of the sign has a light(s) that shine downward. The sign is carved/etched into the acrylic and the etched part lights up.
Here's a link to one:
http://cgi.*********/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5779827564&category=14981
The *s are ebaydotcom. The shipping costs more than the sign.
Guys,
You can ask some questions by leaving comments. I am sure most people will understand you. If required, I can help you to translate.
Thanks for your comments about my installation redhouse. I shall have it publised on a French magazine dedicated to home theater next month.... ;-)
Fred
Hi,
the changes are ok, and thearter is now theater :)
the US install bridgecomm is updated
Ahhhh Troyan,
He is the website administrator of digital16-9....
Welcome to AVS! ;-)
Hi!
Any more person to publish your HT system?
For your information, you have new rooms published almost everyday so you should return quite often ! ;-)
See ya soon!
Fred
AnthonyP 06-13-05, 10:50 AM fredbi: nice room
Troyan : nice site
Thanks AnthonyP!
You might want to publish your home cinema system on Digital16-9?
;-)
AnthonyP 06-13-05, 02:31 PM Thanks for the invite, but I am not into opening my house up to the public, you can ask Redhouse about it (he tried to convince me to post pics before). I am more of a voyeur then an exhibitionist :) But if I do decide to post I will keep your site in mind
Redhouse 06-13-05, 02:44 PM you can ask Redhouse about it (he tried to convince me to post pics before)
Let's not get that started again!
Now come on, how about some pictures of your setup? :D
LOL, Redhouse
What do you fear AnthonyP? I think it is more a matter of sharing your experience and approach of our common hobby!! I am sure a lot of people will be very happy to see you how you set your system!
Anyway it is your choice; but you will be most welcome to publish on digital169 when you change your mind!
Regards
Fred
AnthonyP 06-14-05, 12:00 PM there is a bit of fear, but most of it is freedom and that I tend to be a private person, I don't mind sharing knowledge and opinion, but not one to go out of my way to show stuff. The other thing is I tend to post a lot (look at my count) and sometimes it goes into more personal information (location.....) also if I don't post for a while someone might determine that I am not at home. So I think an inventory of my belongings is not a good thing because then I would have to think of what I am posting. I think every regular here (and other sites I visit) is honest and they don't scare me but there are many dishonest people out there and some precautions are not a bad idea. I also like the freedom of being able to go in any forum without being judge on my equipment list, I read and post in both projector forums even though my projector technically fits in the high end forum.
dynamowhum 06-14-05, 09:33 PM I can understand what Anthony is saying and have often thought along similar lines. Obviousely he is not anti-social his post numbers speak to that. For along time I didn't even give my location or name. Thank you Fredbi for sharing though.
Thanks for your comments guys!
I understand very well this is not an anti-social reaction and you tend to be careful with the publication of your HT description. In fact, I understand very well your concern as I was burgled twice in 3 months and most of my former HT system was stolen. That was 4 years ago. Since then, I am very careful although my HT system is published on digital16-9.
I just would like to add one point : you have to take into account that your system will be published on a site where most visitors (90%) are European and I think in this case there is not much risk for you.
Anyway, I respect your choice and you will always be welcome on digital16-9 when you decide to publish it.
Take care
Fred
Any more people wishing to share his/her experience on digital16/9?
;-)
In France, we have a saying for : "The more people we are, the funniest it is" : Plus on est de fou, plus on rit!
Fredbi
Hello Guys!
Nobody else wants to try?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with us! ;-)
Fred
It is cool seeing the stuff overseas. When most of our homes are usually less than 20 years old, we forget you are building HT's in rooms that Napoleon (or his ancestors) may have slept in!!! Makes running cables a lot harder when you're in a grotto, non?
My cellar was built in 1868..... No, cables were put behind the walls I made around the room. There was nothing except sand when I started to build my HT system, so I could do what I want!
Thanks for your comment dd2!
Take care
Fred

benwillcox 09-02-06, 10:34 AM Hi Fred, I have seen the digital16-9 site many times before, and a lot of the cinema rooms there have seats in a similar style to yours here:
http://www.digital16-9.com/gfx/photos/fredbi/15102005_224741.jpg
I'm in the UK and can't seem to find any suppliers of this sort of seating, I guess they are made in France? Do you know what they are called and a name of a supplier of them?
Thanks,
Ben
Hi Ben,
Thanls for your message.
I found mine on the net, a guy was selling some used cinema seats which he got back when refurbishing some cinemas. That was 5 or 6 years ago and I do not have his adress any more....
But I know a few other adresses in France there :
http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29691309&highlight=fauteuil+cinema
EPSOM seems to be quite good with reasonable prices...
Did you look on ebay?
Hope these infos will help!
Take care
Fred
Hello again Ben!
There is a French guy on this forum who sells some cinema seats :
http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29829639
You shall try to contact him....
http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/5597/dscf0033lf7.jpg
benwillcox 09-05-06, 06:03 AM Hi Fred, thanks for the links, and the pointer to the forum! They look ideal, except the problem is that i need 7 seats and not 6!!
But, I'm talking to a UK company at the moment so I will see how that goes, if not then I'll still keep looking.
Thanks,
Ben.
