Oh no you didn't just ask that!

Here's a tip for you:

READ THE FIRST POST IN THE THREAD!!!

Does #24 have a menu? I can't get to any menu on my computer using Media Player Classic.

2. A "Subtle Effects Demo (dripping water, rain, trees rustling, crowd voices, echos, even the rumbling of an earthquake, etc.), all well outside the center forward sound stages.

I agree!

Here is a great example:
There were some amazing subtle uses of surround sound in the forest scenes of "the new world"
- those scenes (including the end credits of that movie) were some of the best demonstrations of my system I've ever heard - I had some friends over that don't know anything about home theater, and they commented on how they really felt like they were outside with the sounds of the forest all around them.

Been searching for demo discs for the past week and turned up nothing. Then I stumbled across this thread and have read most of it and am very impressed by the efforts put forth and the excellent idea.

Is there a link to a listing of all the demo dvd's available with content listings?

I don't have the ability to burn dvd's, so I'm hoping someone would be willing to send me copies once I know which ones I'd like. I'll pay first of course. If you're willing to help out PLEASE send me a PM. Thanks...Mike

I tested it on the original D24 and it worked fine. I have not tried it on the ISO image. I can try tomorrow.

Just confirmed - Track 30 (Pulse) is on the ISO image. It is possible your download did not fully complete. If you restart the download, it should pickup where it left off and complete the download.

Check out my sig. I have a summary doc with a description and GB size of each disc. I think D2 is one of the smaller ones at a little over 2GB in size.

This weekend I was organizing all the demo discs I've downloaded in the last 2 years and came across some discrepancies on my part. Is it true that disc 19 was renamed to T1 (Trailer Disc #1) and the LOTR disc became the new disc 19?

Also, are there any covers/lables for T4-T7 discs?

Was the menu re-designed for D19/T1? It looks different than what I remember as I just downloaded T1. I think my D19 had a different menu but I could be wrong.

Yes it is different. I think Kirtis decided to make a new menu. I "think" the content is the same but I'm not sure.

I'll see about covers for t4-t7.

I'd assume you do a search using your remote and jump by title, since the clips will saved as such. As to which clip is what, you'll have to look at the list whether on your pc or printed out. Cumbersome but probably what has to be done.

Another way is to make a clip (using shrink) and change that video clip into a still image or picture. Create a jpg of the menu and replace. The clip will run either in its entire length or however long you want it (as little as 3sec, I believe). You could also breakdown and insert every 4-5 clips so the viewer can either skip or watch through the next set of clips.

Yea I had to make the disc without menus because it contains multiple DTS and DD tracks. The other thing is that I did not remove any of the original track breaks. That means it is hard to tell how many tracks each clip is. Sorry about that but I am new to mastering these discs.

Personally I play all my DVDs through an HTPC so I can just select any title track I want. I can pretty much jump to any point on the DVD with a couple of clicks.

Eventually I will find a way to master these discs properly but that is the best I could do for now. I hope you enjoyed it anyway.

I still have some confusion as I try to get all my discs organized. In my collection I have a disc #19. The first three clips are from 16 Blocks, A Sound of Thunder and Aeon Flux. I know LOTR replaced that disc for the new #19. I thought the old #19 then became Trailer-1 disc, however the track listing does not match what is in the Word index file. Some of the movies in the old #19 do appear in the T-1 listing but not all and not in the same order. Did #19 get re-authored and thus the point of my confusion?

Sorry, just trying to make sense of what I have and what I need. The OCD completist in me has to have it all exactly correct :)

Thanks!

Yes, the old D19 was re-authored by the original author (kirtis_mcleskey). He put out T1-T3 at the same time and must have moved things around a bit (adding and subtracting titles). The D19 is no-longer on the list but feel free to keep it in your collection :)

Has anyone starting working on BR based demo's? The one thing I notied is that there were issues with the quality on HD on some of the videos. The sounds was friggen flawless.

IT would be awesome for someone with maybe a PC BR burner to start recording HD and make a demo!

HAVE IDEA: KUNG FU BASED DISC
no movies in my experience come close for pushing wide ranges of sound

scenes:
Kung fu husltle: fight with musician assassins (so good jbl rep used it for vendor training)

also end fight scene on stairs

hero: opening fight sequence with staff

fearless: restaurant fight where jet lee fight rival master

also big sequence in tent against the American muscle man

Those are my personal scene recommendations general movie like house of flying daggers and anything with tony Jaa (ong back, protector) can have scenes pulled to round out mix

Simple. Dts-authored discs cannot do menus because of the audio sync issue. As to non-dts discs without menus, that's was at the author's discretion.

To each his own....don't know about the rest of you, but I prefer the simple non-menu dvdshrinked demos. Especially since I mix DD and dts on a majority of discs I make for myself. I have about 400 scenes to choose from, so if someone is coming over for a demo and wants to experience something different I can throw a compilation together in minutes.

Sorry to disagree with my friends kweezer and victor, but I much prefer menues. Without menues I feel like I'm back watching tapes where you have to go through some scenes to get to others. I prefer the direct access provided by menues. If I want to demo a particular song on a concert demo I don't want to have to skip through a dozen songs to get to it.

To have the demo play like a movie just include a "play all" feature.

Either way I am grateful to everyone here who has made a demo DVD. I've been introduced to some great movies. :D

I agree with Bclews on his comments. Most of the time, there are only a few scenes I might want to demo from each Demo Disc and without a menu, I can't find the scene very easily. Adding a "Play All" button is pretty much a standard that should always be included.

Also, I don't like when the discs are authored into Titles instead of chapters because then its even more difficult to get to scenes with a single button push. Basically, I like a traditional DVD Menu driven format with each demo scene being its own chapter. Its tidy, neat, organized, plus you can add "audio effects" or audio demos to the background of each menu screen that can add value to the demo disc as well.

Unfortunately, dvdshrink saves the clips as titles so there really isnt anything anyone can do about them.

As to the player, some don't have a problem changing titles like chapters whereas other do.

For "The Haunting" - it seems like most people choose ch. 10 for some reason (I think ch. 10 is on about 3 demo disks here -- if that's the one where the main character runs into Catharine Zeta Jone's bedroom and its so cold they see their breath).

However, Chapter 17 (particularly in DTS) is THE chapter for the bass in that film. Please switch that to Chapter 17. That is the most famous scene (not chapter 10).

Damn no Pulse? I didn’t think there could be an LFE disc without that track! The olephant charge from LOTR ROTK is pretty good also. However, I have a feeling that this entire list will be able to be replaced by the entire Transformers DVD when it comes out!

Hi, anyone willing to B & P (will gladly pay for Blanks & Postage) Demo Disc #25 & Movie Trailers disc #6 & #7? Would be much appreciated for the DVD burner deficient & hard drive space challenged (I know....I need a new computer, but still a few years away!)

PM if it at all possible!

Can't believe i never noticed ch17, ch10 has been replaced. Thx caesar!!

Oh YEA!! I can't wait to see/hear this one. It is all DD or a combo of DD and DTS?

So far just dts, unless I get a hold of Pulse. Maybe I'll add few DD scenes.

Any suggestions?

Which is pulse, the Jobe track (the ripples trailer?)?

“Pulse” is a 2005 remake of a 2001(I believe) Japanese movie. The movie is ok but near the end it goes into a very impressive 16-18 Hz sweep! It lasts for about 30 seconds but most subs can’t handle any more than a few seconds of that sweep. I placed about 6 seconds of that clip on Demo DVD #24. It is the last track on the disc.

Beware this is some serious Bass. Nothing that a little Ultra won’t handle though!

Check out chapter 20 from "300" (a little ways into the chapter) -- the executioner scene (the fat guy with blades for arms). During that execution scene (shortly before he chops off the head) there are 3 really deep pulses.

I'm curious how low they go. But they pressurized my room for sure.

Unfortunately, dvdshrink saves the clips as titles so there really isnt anything anyone can do about them.

As to the player, some don't have a problem changing titles like chapters whereas other do.

Victor

DVDshrink rips them as VOB files. You can then compile the VOB files into DVD authoring software any way you like. I prefer to make a DVD menu with all the scenes listed individually, and a play all button. Each demo scene is its own chapter. Try to shoot for around 20 chapters per Demo Disc. You can take it further and make a fancier DVD menu structure with background audio and pages with similarly themed scenes on each page, but I actually like a nice, simple DVD menu with all chapters listed for easy access to any scene.

Isnt that what I've done for the last 6 discs I've made? :p

Its the authoring program that ultimately decides if it wants to treat it like chapters or titles. And with DVDlab, it appears it treats them like titles. I'm happy with dvdlab and its capabilities as is.

Which DVD Authoring program do you use to convert the "Titles" into "Chapters"? I've played around with this a bit and have not had that much success.

I've used a now quite old software called TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 in the past. It can't do DTS audio, only DD. DVD Lab Pro offers a lot more options, but TMPGEnc is very easy to use as its basic. The latest version is TMPGEnc DVD Author 3. I haven't tried it. It looks neat.

I have been getting a lot of new surfing movies lately. There are some very little known ones that are absolutely spectacular! DVDs like May Dayz, Black Water, Billabong Odyssey, The biggest day ever, etc…. come to mind. Is anyone interested in an all surfing or maybe all extreme sports DVD?

This would not be a high quality DVD. It would contain a lot of 4:3 stereo clips from professional DVDs but there would also be a lot of clips that are 480i clips from consumer camcorders. Is anyone interested in a compilation disc like that?

I uploaded The Guyplex (not my authoring) to Swithey's site and after downloading a couple of you pointed out that the 2 Jurassic Park clips that were supposed to be DD 5.1 were, in fact stereo. I have now used Shrink to rip the 2 clips from the disc that I have, that is 5.1 (identical cut points as the originals).

My problem is that I have not been able to figure out how to replace the original stereo clips with the new ones. I have DVD Lab Pro 2.3 and don't see how. Also attempted with Pgc Edit, VOB Blanker and DVD Remake.

If someone would be so kind as to tell me how to do this or point me in the right direction for guides, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to upload a modified ver of the GuyPlex so that it's the way it should be.

Re The GuyPlex -I checked this out tonight. Its pretty good. Some of the tracks are not great surround sound-wise -- but they look good or are exciting scenes.

I should also point out that the Jurassic Park tracks on this DVD (there are 2 of them actually) are NOT DD 5.1. They are DD Surround 2.0 (according to my Onkyo 805 display).

Caesar-I was going to replace these 2 tracks w/DD5.1, but I am getting conflicting info on my programs ( I don't have a 5.1 HT setup ).

1. Power DVD reports both tracks as DD 2.0 ( as well as Ice Age, which is shown as 2.0 on the menu)
2. Shrink reports them as DD 5.1 ( as well as Ice Age )
3. My Samsung SA HD850 display shows them as 5.1

I ripped the JP tracks from a 5.1 dvd and the audio size is more than double the ones in question (although ,interestingly enough, the video is smaller than the original clips) So I'm confused now

Can you or someone else play those 2 Jurassic Park clips on your 5.1 HT and confirm one way or another what they are ? Thanks

Well all I can tell you is that my receiver (which is a brand new Onkyo 805) detects the tracks as "Dolby surround 2.0". What's interesting is that very few tracks get detected with the word "surround" in it. I've seen Dolby 2.0 and dolby digital 5.1 of course -- but I've rarely seen "Dolby Surround 2.0".

So this track must have a rare flag in it for the audio stream, that probably confuses a lot of programs (and maybe even your display).

Is there any way to tell by listening to it ?

The original author of the demo made it in 2005 and the DD 5.1 version of my JP was released in 2000.
I did a Google search and couldn't find any release with a 2.0 soundtrack (theatrical release in '93 was DTS). Strange indeed !

Also strange that my ripped clips DD 5.1 audio is more that double the mb size of the ones on the demo. (19mb vs 7 on the first and 7mb vs 2 on the second).

If you listen to it and it sounds like 2ch, I'll go ahead and upload the reauthored disc so it's consistent for all, as a 5.1

The Jurassic Park disc had DD 2.0 as the fall back from DD 5.1 (as many discs do -- its actually a DVD requirement I think). So maybe the original guy recorded the wrong track?

I have a 7.1 system -- so I hear stuff from all speakers as I currently have it set up (to expand to 7.1). But the display shows how the track is flagged (and only 2 speakers lightup in the display), and I can't change that. The receiver is definitely only detecting input to 2 channels.

He must have, by mistake, because he was certainly aware that the Ice Age trailer was 2.0.

DP,

Don't mind Pinstripe. He does that for everyone. So many people ask that it does become a bit annoying. Anyway, for future reference always check the first post of a "major" thread. Usually, the original poster will keep the first post up to date with the latest info.

Anyway, if you follow the instructions on the first post you will have your DVDs soon enough!

Revised "The Guyplex" is now uploaded and S- has swapped them, ready for downloading. The new version is "Guyplex51".

The 2 replacement clips are identical video and also have a slightly higher bit rate now, as I ripped them (using Shrink) directly from the DVD (using Anydvd to decrypt), rather than decrypting the whole movie to the HDD and then ripping the clips. (which I never knew before, causes some loss)

Edit: As a reminder, I uploaded this demo originally and reauthored the 2 JP clips however, I'm NOT the original author. See swithey's post>>>Click Here

Would it be too much to ask which dvds are considered the best?

Advice given to me :

"no ONE disc delivers everything -- each have their own positive and negative qualities. However, here are a few suggestions:"

D5: Great 1st download. It has a little of everything to get you started

D4: A great LFE and Surround Workout

D2 and D21: These are labeled as demo discs to test your system's LFE (aka -- your Subwoofer). Other discs have clips that have good LFE as well but these put a lot of them together in one place. Be warned D21 is very violent and would definitely be rated R.

D6: 100% DTS tracks. Lots of strong surround and LFE on this one. It has no menus so navigation is chapter by chapter only.

D17: 100% Animation -- The Kid Friendly Disc

D18: All Sci-Fi

D19: 100% LOTR

D20: 100% Star Wars

And, of course I like # 25, The Guyplex.

I was watching Superman Returns on HBO -- the scene with the chip from the crystal that is put into the water of the toy city has a huge bass bulse (right after the lights go out). How low does that pulse go?

This is the scene with the toy trains. They take a tiny piece of crystal and put it in the water. The lights then go out -- and right before the lights come back on -- there is a huge bass pulse that energizes the room.

The Standard ones, which I stopped making a long time ago (time constraint), is wider then the slim ones - you can see that in photoshop. Just print them at 100%, trim the white edge and they will fit the sleeve perfectly.

I guess I was trying to actually print the slim ones. I finally just did what you said and opened those up in PS and printed 100%. They work fine. Thank you! And awesome job on those covers by the way!

You don't a have single original dvd case at home to measure?

09-09-07, 09:34 PM
I've got a few numbers around here, but it's been a while since I used them much. At 300dpi, a standard DVD insert is somewhere around 3240 pixels by 2175 pixels (or 10.8"x7.25"). A slim case insert is about 70 or 80 pixels narrower, or around 10.5"x7.25".

I think the problem is the standard ones. The ones that you did make originally are huge. They come up as 45.833W X 31.25H at 72dpi.

If you change them to 300dpi and keep the original pixel dimensions they'll work like a charm.

I have the following that I can snail mail to someone desiring it:

Disc 4 (File Name: D4-DD-Demo.iso. THX Trailers and various clips)

Please note that the disc will NOT play properly in my Toshiba. It does work, however, in my Philips player.

I'm looking for a snail mail copy of DISC 5 (D5-All-In-One-Demo.iso), DISC 21 (D21-LFE-Demo2.iso), DISC 24 (D24-Demo.iso), and DISC 25 (D25-GuyPlex.iso).

Plz PM me if you'd like a copy of DISC 4 or if you can mail me any of my "wants."

Thx! (I love this forum!!)

Hi guys....

Is anyone selling copies of these DVDs that can be sent via snail mail? If so, please PM me. Thanks! :)

I've got a Toshiba HD-A2, if that matters.

I can try to download the files, but my internet connection "disconnects" every hour or two, and I have to reset the modem -- which messes up very large downloads like these. Comcast blames my router, but I think it's them.

These demo dvds aren't supposed to be sold. They're free. If we made them for the purposes of selling, we'd be in a LOT of trouble from the studios, avs, etc...

Your best shot is either pm swithey for alternatives to downloading info or search the thread for those with copies that are willing to send out.

It is not right, for just anyone to give out FTP access info for someone elses personal FTP site.
Really, only the owner of the site should do that.

Just because you have sent a PM but have not been given access yet, that don't mean that you should panic about it either, just wait awhile!
He may not have got to his PM's yet, or he may be out of town or something else.
Sending someone a PM here, does not also mean that they will see it right away or even within a few hours or even a few days of it being sent.

Well, I finally got around to doing a disc of my own. It should be authored sometime this week. It's all animation with clips from the following movies:
-Curious George
-Ice Age 2
-Ant Bully
-Animatrix
-Valiant
-Ghost In The Shell
-Princess Monoke
-Corpse Bride
-Surf's Up
-Open Season
-Jimmy Neutron:Boy Genius
-Flushed Away
-Small Soldiers
-Antz
-Hoodwinked
-The Wild
-Shark's Tale
-Barbie:12 Dancing Princesses

That's all I could cram onto 1 disc. The clips are widescreen and uncompressed with menu navigation. I'll send it off to Swithey as soon as it's done. I guess I'll number it #26 if that's OK.

Don't laugh, they actually they stop at the waterfall and go skinny dipping...pretty HOT! But seriously, I expected to take some grief on that one. I've got two little girls who insisted that I put it on the disc, it's their favorite movie. I must have seen it 20 times. Without giving the plot away (for those of you who will run out and buy it once you see the clip:p), the scene has some good classic music and it's in 5.1, but I'll put it towards the end so you can stop the disc and not be embarrassed in front of your buddies :D.

I think the person who was making them available as a torrent decided to withdraw the service for whatever reason.... perhaps lack of use, or needed the bandwidth for their own personal reasons, and considering that they are paying for that bandwidth, then they are free to do so. :)

Fantastic Four Silver Surfer
Next
Planet terror
Death Proof

You might want to rethink that one. Although it would certainly be cool, that's probably pushing it for "fair use". Having 18 clips of the same movie is quite a bit different than having 2 minute clips of 18 different movies.

I didn’t say I was going to share it:p, just that I was going to create it!

Last time I checked the whole DVD was copywritten isn’t it? What difference would it make if I include 3 clips vs. 18 clips? In fact I only have 5-8 clips because some clips extend across several scenes. So where is the point when it is ok? 3,5,7,11,13….etc?

Are these still not available as torrents? I have searched every key word I could think of and come back empty.

I read the first post. I even read most of the other pages, skipping around. I have sent a few PM's over the course of the last few weeks, I sent another today. I understand people are busy. I am not complaining, just wondering. Wouldn't uploading a torrent with the understanding that people seed x amount solve the using one person's entire bandwidth issue and make the discs more accessible? I will have server space and bandwidth if anybody wants me to host some.

Hello everyone,

I wondered if it was possible to get a DVD with all these scenes :

SW1 (POD RACE)
SDA1 (sauron explosion) in DTS full
Hero (Blue room scene and Arrows scene) in DTS full
Master & Commander (first battle) in DTS full
The day after tomorrow (wave on NYC) FTS full
Kill Bill 1 (Gogo Yubari fight) DTS Full
SDA2 (helm wall explosion) DTS full
The Incredibles (plane scene)
Minority Report (factory scene) DTS full
Ice Age (intro)
U-571 (famous scene)
Lion King - Circle of Life
Monsters Inc. (girl crying destroying lights)
Bad Boys 2 (freeway chase)
War of the Worlds (the famous 15hz scene, I think it's chapter 5)
Fight Club (final scene with explosions)
King Kong – Fighting Planes
Spiderman 3 (green bad boy vs Spidey battle in the air)
Daredevil (young Matt Murdock accident)
Chicago (final scene)
Transformers (When the transformer attacks the military base at the beginning, LFE is WOW§§!)
Transformers (the slowmotion scene at the end with the girl sitting in the street)

I'm a bit bored when it comes to change DVD Demos every 3 minutes and maybe these scenes in only one DVD would interest other persons ! I have noticed they are the most often asked ones on HC message boards !

So please let me know if this is possible. Or I will download every Demo disc on FTP to make my own as soon as I get a good computer (but that's not for tomorrow :( ).

Thanks, have a nice day.

All other disks that I attempt this with I can use either DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter and I am good to go. I see from the demo disks that some of you have had luck ripping Disney disks, what program did you use to do this?

Thanks

DVD Decrypter and I am good to go.

What version are you using? You should be on the latest (not that the earlier ones were any less successful- they worked just fine too)

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

Use dvd shrink (there are no updates) to remove extras like 2nd languages, trailers, etc. Nero is recommended when doing the burn

AnyDVD works great as well, but costs money.

I'm wondering if he's trying to use to original DVD Decrypter. If so that proggy won't work of course for recent stuff.

AnyDVD works great as well, but costs money.

And it's well worth the cost for it! Slysoft is always releasing updates for it to work with new DVD's that come with new forms of encryption, just Sony alone keeps them busy with issuing updates, sometimes even weekly.

I've been using the Free DVDFab Decryptor for about 9 months now and it has ripped every DVD I've thrown at it (new and old).

I will throw in another recommendation for Slysoft's AnyDVD. It runs in the system tray and allows you to use any method you want to backup, edit, whatever you DVDs. It is fairly transparent.

Thanks guys, I will check which version of decrypter I have, but I believe I downloaded it about 6 months ago once I got my new pc.

Just to clarify more, decrypter rips the movie (only having trouble with Disney movies everything else works just fine), but I can't see the movie in DVD Shrink, only the extras. If I go into the folder on the pc where the files are saved, I see the movie file there, but it doesn't appear when I access the folder from DVD Shrink.

A suggestion to anybody that is thinking of putting together another disc. A decent "surround sound" clip is from "Days of Thunder" at the beginning when Tom Cruise is trying out in Rowdy Burns's car. You can hearthe car drive around the room.

If you like that sort of things in surround sounds, then try out the Imax SuperSpeedway disc. It has Days of Thunder beaten it that sort of sounds. There is a crash scence from a older Indy 500 race where you hear the broken off flying car parts and tires/wheels going right by you like you are right in between them all. Also at the Holmstead track, while they are doing in-car laps, you can hear the seams in the pavement, the changes from smooth to rougher asphalt, and the even the changes in the sound of the air wizzing by the car from the fence posts on the R/S outer edge of the track.

Anyone notice video issues with this? For some reason, I had a lot of stuttering (start/stop) video, but the audio was fine, while the video looked to be stuttering.

For example, on Ice Age 2, when the ice wall breaks and water and ice start rushing over in the big flood, it looked like it was almost frame by frame (video stuttering). It definitely is not my equipment, as other demo discs have that scene as well, and it plays smooth.

Also, one of the clips -- I think it was "Open Season" -- just stalls out. It won't play past a point in the beginning where a ceiling fan is spinning. It stops on the spinning fan and makes a weird noise. The only way I could get out of it was to eject the DVD -- it wouldn't take any other commands at that point.

Perhaps my DVD was bad and I need to burn it again? Wondering if anyone else had these issues.

There are a number of reason which its stutters:

The tracks may have not been demuxed successfully (I use rejig after my initial tries at demo dvds per kweezr).

The download itself was flawed.

The dvd disc itself is bad. Try another disc to confirm.

I had problems as well - I used a different DVD player and checked a new burn on it and the stuttering went away. I did not watch the entire thing to make sure all of the scenes were perfect though. I went through and started each one for about 10-20 seconds and they were good.

It seems to recognize the username, but after the password I get an Error 530 not connected. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Error in downloading disk 5

Anyone else have an issue with getting disk 5 to download? I tried three times yesterday and my FTP client encountered an error around the 870MB mark. All three times at the same point. I am able to download other disks fine, just this one seems to cause the error.

Anyone out there have a copy they would be willing to mail me?

Jim,
You might have a corrupted (partial downloaded copy) that could be causing the issue. Scan your HD, make sure all traces are gone and try the download again.

Is anyone working on HD-DVD or Blu-ray demo disks?

I've found that DVD demo disks do not compare to certain Blu-ray disks with LPCM / TrueHD / DTS-HD MA for system demo purposes.

Wow! bfd you just beat me to it. I've read that a DVD5 will hold ~30 min of hi def video/audio which is playable on a standard dvd player. This would be great if someone could put one of these together. (I'm not so sure re mpeg4 though)

Hi!

I recently was granted access to the FTP site and think it's amazing how much work has gone into this. Thanks to all involved!

That said, the PM I got from swithey recommended Disc#5 as a start. I'm not much of a movie buff, so I don't know most of the movies (much less the scenes) used in these demo discs. I don't really plan to download ALL of the discs that are available. I was wondering if those of you who are familiar with these demo discs would be willing to recommend a few others to download besides #5 and include your reason behind recommending them.

Thanks!!!!! :)

To quote swithey :

"D5: Great 1st download.

D20: 100% Star Wars"

Ok, just checking he might be very busy this time of the year, like so many other people. I tried to get access to some of the dvds a couple of months ago, but never heard back. I believe that is when they were still doing the mail chain.

Anyway, I was planning on having an open house on New Years Eve and was wanting to get some of the demo discs. I figured when people come over I would more than likely be playing demos for people instead of a full length movie. I was wondering if I don't here back from Swithey within the next week or so if someone could maybe burn a couple of demo dvds and mail them to me. I would reimburse any shipping expense and cost of materials. If this is possible please PM me and let me know and we could get something worked out.

Thanks!!!

Swithey, I first want to say thanks for making your FTP site available to all those that ask. This is a very generous thing to do for the whole community..... AwSoMe!

Hey, guys, I have downloaded 5, 6, 18, 21, 22, 24, 13, 14, 17, 19, 7, 8, & 20. (I am sure I will eventually download the whole batch).

What do you guys think of sending a self addressed stamped media envelope for any of the disc that I have so far? I will use my own blank DVD media, and the only cost to you would be a "self addressed stamped media envelope".
If this sounds good to you just contact me (PM), and I will reply as soon as I can.

Remember....... Swithey asked that we try to help the community out be sending demo disc to those that are not able to download the disc themselves. I have seen an awful lot of posts from people stating that they have downloaded X number of disc (some have done all of them), yet I do not see many returning the favor "asked" of us..... its only fair guys, come-on help the community out ;-)

Now that'd be a good demo disk to get hold of.

I've got myself a Aussiemorphic lens here myself, and would love to be able to demo my setup to others without hunting through several 2.xx:1 titles. :)

BTW, for those accessing the Australian/New Zealand demo tree mirror, I've had a few hiccups over the last couple of months, and have just installed a new and larger HD in to that machine as the old one was getting very full. So now everything should be back up and running as it was before.

For anyone contemplating content for a 2.35:1 demo disk...

May I suggest including clips from some older movies--those filmed in CinemaScope, etc. and even Cinerama. A few that come to mind are the chariot scene from Ben-Hur, or a battle scene from Lawrence of Arabia, or the shooting the rapids scene or the buffalo stampede from How the West Was Won, or the Monaco race scene & crash into the harbor from Grand Prix.

Have some patience! I'm pretty sure swithey also has other things to do and does not monitor his PM's here 24/7 every hour on the hour. It's swithey's own personal FTP, and not a freely open to the general public FTP. And he is really the only person that should issue the info for you to logon. It's not right for other people to provide the info needed for anyone and everyone, or just because someone got impatient waiting for a reply.
