Do you ever do any work at the MotoGP races also? I'm a former motorcycle roadracer myself. I have even raced bikes at Daytona Int Speedway 3 times back in the later part of the 80's. And although I have always followed most all type car racing as well motorcycles, I still favor the bikes somewhat over the cars.

Yeah but you have to admit, Australia has produced quite a few motorcycle roadarce champions over the years. And at many different levels and classes. You have had a few champions in the old 500GP class that preceded the current MotoGP class, World Superbike, and even here in the US in our AMA Superbike class. And last but certainly not least, the current 2007 MotoGP champion, Casey Stoner.
So you have at least a few people in Australia that know how to get around a racetrack really d@mn fast on only two wheels...;)


Also, I know that both the MotoGP and WSB all now race at Phillip Island and have for a few years. But I think in the past that both the old 500GP, 250GP and 125GP classes also used to use another track at Eastern Creek for awhile, from about 1990-1996, and then it all went back to using Phillip Island, like they did prior to 1990. And that in the past WSB has also used a track called Oran Park.

I would gladly get a few discs sent over but I'm having problems getting a reliable complete download. I have been using Core FTP all weekend but had many failed downloads. Sometimes after it runs for 7hrs. I am getting a steady 150 -152 KB/s download speed which is inline with my DSL service (1.2Mb/s).

I'm going to try Filezilla tonight and if that doesn't work, I'm going to use a Sun Download Manager because it allows a download to re-start after a failure from the place it previously stopped.

The FTP sites have changed, switheys FTP site is no longer up for this so you will have to pick from one of the two others that are available now. Go back to the first page and first post of the this thread to get the new info about it. Or if you are in the US just PM squidboy for the info to get access to his FTP. And if you are somewhere overseas, you probably then should PM bpratt2 instead, as his FTP is located in Australia.

Did you use Fast Mode from the main options screen when you used Core FTP? I was wondering if it sped up the transfer any or just caused more failures.

BTW, I'm using squidboy's ftp site.

i have tried to download d 20 star wars and it fails every time. It gets to about 9% left and then it stops. i have used 2 ftp clients, core ftp and ftp voyager. ftp voyager gave me a disk full error but my hard drive is a western digital 320 gig external. This drive is only used for the ht demo tree disks. I have had errors on other demo tree disks as well with core ftp. any help would be nice

I can host them if need be. Connection is fairly quick.

I have about 6 cds that are notIf you are having problems with all 3 of those ftp clients with the same downloads, unless others can confirm issues with the ftp site you are using and/or the discs you are downloading, it is not your ftp client that is the problem.

I have successfully downloaded most of these discs and as a thank you to those that worked hard to create them, I am willing to help out those that aren't able to download.

Specifically, I would like to send them to someone who would be willing to copy and send them to other folks.
I don't have the time or the inclination to do this more than once (sorry) but since someone has to get the ball rolling, at least I can help with that.

If someone wants to start burning and sending these out to folks on the forum, let me know. Failing that, I'll send them to someone who just wants to watch them.

HOWEVER - I prefer not to keep getting lots and lots of PMs after I send these things off, (you know how these posts tend to get found years after) so I'll edit this post later when they are no longer available.

I have agreed to send my discs off to one or two people. I have already contacted these folks and they know who they are. Hopefully they will then be able to make at least one set of copies for someone else. I apologize that these discs will no longer be available from me. Sorry I can't do more but my time and resources are limited. But look at it this way, if just a handful of us on this board could send some hard copies to those few that have download troubles, everyone would be happy.

I downloaded #24 last night with core ftp and didn't have a problem. Just used the default settings.

Thank you to squidboy and whoever else has made this possible. I am in the process of downloading D5 right now. If anyone is unable to download these I would be able to send it to them via mail. If it gets out of hand I may not be able to do this indefinitely. I just ask that you also make these available to other avsers. I will post what other dvds i download as I get them.

Finished getting D5. Fantastic!! I'm still wainting for my sub to arrive, But the demo was still great to demo the rest of my speakers.

Just curious if there was DVD labels and case labels for Demo disc 6v2, 9v2, 10v2 and 26?

you are not making sense. Are you using an ftp client like CoreFTP or Filezilla?

If want people to help, you have to be more specific.

He should have provided you his ftp site address. This is not a place you can use an internet browser to access. You need to use an ftp client to connect to it.

For those unable to download these, I am willing to make one or two copies of these demo discs for cost only. That being said, I am having troubles downloading the Star Wars demo and D25- Guy Plex 51. I'm using CoreFTP and have been able to download other demo discs without issue. Any ideas?

There is help option on the top row of CoreFTP.

But here is a quick skinny:

You will have a gui button on far left that shows "site manager" when you pass your mouse over it. click it and fill inthe info from what was sent to you for login.

Site Name is what ever you want to call the connection....
Host/IP/URL is ftp.whatever.net
username provided in your email.
Password provided in email

Choose Connection of FTP

leave the rest as default

Click connect........ you will see some connection info scroll on the GUI top screen

Then you just drag the file <example D15-Demo.iso> you want on the right section over to the left section. This will start the download.... you may want to navigate the left side to a dedicated directory you made on your Hard Drive.

You will see the filename show up on the bottom section and there it will show your download speed, time and such.

All the demo discs are about 4 gig in size. So if you are using a slow internet connection, yes. It could take you about 2 days to download one disc.

I am running basic DSL which is ~1.2Mega bits per second which shows ~150 K Bytes per second on the Core FTP screen.

Watch your speed on Coreftp and see if your internet provider throttles your speed back after the first hour or two. Mine does not.

Did you just drag and drop one file?? 10 hrs is a little slow for one file. I usually get one in 6-7 hrs. I actually just drag a bunch over and let it churn for a few days. If you go into Core FTP and choose the Options Gui button in the middle of the pack. Then on Transfers page be sure to enable "Auto resume failed transfers". Not having that enabled caused me some pain at first.

Be prepared to gobble up hard drive space. I just went out today to buy a 1Terabyte USB drive because my PC had no more space.

I do not know whose ftp site you are trying to access but I do know that some who hosted in the past no longer do it.

You need to contact a person who is hosting these files, names found in this thread, and PM them requesting access. I promised not to pass my login info onto anyone else. Squidboy is who I contacted but there are others out there. Find one who is closest to you for better data transfer rate.

I suggest you read post 1 of this thread. It states you should PM the hosts of the ftp sites. Not the other way around.

We are very grateful that they do this for us so please play by their rules.

Not sure which one you are referring to as being missing but D1-Demo.iso is there. I downloaded it myself from squidboys site.

Maybe it would help if you list the specific titles and state where you see them listed at. Pull down the word file HT Demo Disc Summary.doc and that lists what Squidboy has up on his site.

I just logged into squidboys site and many of his files are not showing up today. Huge difference in the list from when I pulled them down last week.

yeah I'm seeing the same thing on squidboy. I was able to get a small list of them but many of the early files on his FTP are now missing. It was like someone downloaded them then deleted the file. I'm not sure. The only things that are left are teh ISO trailers and that's it, as well as the DVD covers and labels.

Now they are all gone! :(

Yup I just checked tonight and all the .iso images are gone. All the labels are still there. Maybe his ISP made him take them down, or he is switching ISPs? I don't think the user accounts he gives out will allow a user to delete files from the site so there is probably a good reason why they have disappeared.

That's in our country but I've never been there. :) If you visit again, do some search about Palawan. They've got virgin islands there and beautiful beaches as well. If you are a diver, Tubbataha is one of the best reefs.

My sister wants to got to Palawan, but I find it too remote. I prefer some semblance of civilization. And v1rt, go at this time of year, the weather in Manila and everywhere is perfect.

do a search for my user name and you will see a thread on demo discs, the one mentioned there is awesome, spend the $10-15 and you don;t have to worry about DL it

Depending on your FTP software, see if you can find where to set the client settings to the following: 'auto reconnect' on the Connections screen and set 'Auto resume failed transfers' on the Transfers screen. This was what I had to do on Core FTP to get mine to overcome this type problem......

After I did this, it would run for days without stopping. I got all the DVDs I wanted after changing these settings.

Woohoo! :) DTS seems to works in DVD Lab Pro if one demultiplexes the scenes before adding them! Before I just tried without demultiplexing first and that didn't work in the compile-phase. This is great! :D

yes, I used dvd lab pro to add menus to DTS Demo disc #6. It is now DTS Demo disc #6 version 2.

Yep, imagine the reverse for those over here trying to download them from the USA, and we were going to take a long time to download them here, which is why I set up my Australian mirror for those demo dvd's.... making it a lot quicker for guys over here to download them.

Last I checked, a few of the later discs (trailer discs etc.) didn't have covers yet. Is someone making those? If so, we appreciate your hard work - and could you maybe post a note here when they're ready for download? Thanks!

Here is the Final list for DVD #24.

This track was actually from Fight Club. I watched the movie the other day on HBO-HD. The movie was horrible. That scene was pretty cool.

I am also working on a full lossless Blu-ray .iso file. It will probably be around 8-10 gigs but it will be worth it. Oh yea you will not need a Blu-ray drive or writer to play this movie. All you will need is a computer with a newer graphics card(ATI makes a $50 one that will work with any computer) and PowerDVD7 or 8.

I have access to almost every single Blu-ray movie. Just give me some suggestions. Here is what I was thinking.

SpiderMan3, Die Hard3, Eagles, Nine Inch Nails, Chris Botti, Twister, Hitman, Predator, Independence Day, I robot, Pirates of the Caribbean, Apocalypto, The Prestige, The Departed, Casino Royale, FF rise of the silver surfer, Jarhead, House of Flying Daggers, Planet Earth, 300, and Ice Age.

Any other suggestions.

You can always split it to fit across 2 discs. Shrink does this easily.

if your doing blu ray...deff have to add Live free or die hard and X-3 when the house comes apart! also master and commander comes out in DTS-MA soon so that would be ridiculous to wait for...whats the best way to make these disks?? how long is the process?

I am finding that it is a lot harder to create the Blu-ray demo disc than the DVD one. Cutting, and Combining 50 Gigabyte files is tough to do when you already have your 4+ terabytes full!

Anyway my goal is to create a single 8 Gigabyte .iso file that should play in a PS3 if it is burned to a dual layer disc. Single layer discs are going to be useless for HD footage. The disc will retain the lossless audio but it will only have the clips. Wish me luck!

I am also working on a full lossless Blu-ray .iso file. It will probably be around 8-10 gigs but it will be worth it. Oh yea you will not need a Blu-ray drive or writer to play this movie. All you will need is a computer with a newer graphics card(ATI makes a $50 one that will work with any computer) and PowerDVD7 or 8.

What if you want to play it in a SA Blu-ray player, other than a PS3, will the file format be compatible ?

I hope so because I would think that most of us want to see it/show off our HT system.

These two guys that host these files and maintain the servers are doing a great service for us all. I think it is very wrong that you posted that information. No one is supporting piracy here. These small segments of movies fall under the fair use doctrine. They are not for profit, they only contain small samples of a very long movie, and as far as anyone can see they are not damaging the potential market value of the original. Much like it is legal to broadcast the first 15 seconds of copyrighted music on TV without compensation. If someone were ripping entire movies that would be a different thing, but these demo discs are for the purpose of setting up/calibrating your system (a form of research in my opinion) not to undermine the copyright owners ability to make a profit from them. In fact much like the trailers that the studios distribute they may even encourage purchasing of the full titles. This thread has been around for almost 3 years now, if it were pirating it would have been shut down long ago.

I played Disc 26 and the DVD hung up at the end of "hoodwinked" and sent a nasty high freq pulsing sound through my right rear speaker. It had the player locked up, I had to open the drawer to get it to stop. The rest of the chapters played well. Just wondering if that is my player or something in the iso or an error in the burn? It would not play through after a second try.

The first two tracks on #26 crashed my player as well.

Speaking of the Blu-Ray demo, can I make a request/suggestion for a scene? This weekend I watched the movie Chicago on Blu-Ray. The track labeled "Jail House Tango" has everything I look for in a good demo scene. Contains a story within a 5 minute scene that draws the watchers interest. It has a strong bass line, awesome black levels and great contrast with movie scenes changing from mostly black to mostly white with bright highlites (the red scarfs). Not to mention it has Catherine Zeta-Jones,
Renée Zellweger, Susan Misner, and Mya in sexy black outfits. :)

Bad idea, that is not a demo, that is like a mix/party CD, but on a DVD instead. And the music industry really goes after people if they copy or distribute a entire song in any way, no matter what reason they do it for. Even though they might be music that's on DVD's that you want to make this from, if you or anyone else was to make up something like this, and to distribute in any way, then it's pretty much a sure thing that the music industry and all their lawyers would soon get wind of it. And that you or anyone else who did it, or even D/L it from someone else that made one, would soon also be fighting them in court for doing it.

To be honest, I really don't know what more I can contribute to this thread. The tracks I've already selected aren't really the best I could find, other than the transformers and a couple of other movies.
That and my less than enthusiastic desire to make another are the reasons really preventing me from truly completing this last demo disc...

I downloaded over 100Gig of data. All the Demo Discs 1 - 25 and T-8... which is the latest movie trailer disc.

How long did it take you to download those? I have been trying to do D1 for 3 days now :(

Around 150GB of storage. Bandwidth is up and down, but I've been averaging about 2 TB a month. Not easy to find a cheap replacement. :(

Thats out of my reach. Maybe you should think of splitting them up onto several servers. It may help with the download speeds as well. Just a thought. I could host a few gb but not 150gb.

as far as i know, there is no HD material on this very nice discs.
Most of the discs are in NTSC, so if you have a PAL-System (better Quality than NTSC), you might be interested in that fact.
Some DVD-Players (such as mine) aren't able to play NTSC very smooth...

But, if you own the Discs, the discs may help you to make a Demo-Disc of your own... ;)

I'm from Israel, and currently I'm downloading from bpratt2's FTP on a glorious speed of 5Kb/s. It will take me long time before I'll be able to compile a new DVD based on those Demo DVD's.

Maybe I should read few pages back, but I think it would be easier to share those files and download them through torrents.
Maybe the creators of those DVD's don't want tho share it this way, I don't really know, but since squidboy's US-based FTP is down, dl' speed is really slow using FTP, at least for me.

My FTP site is gone forever. My hosting provider isn't going to let it fly anymore.

We tried torrents for a while, but had problems keeping them seeded. However, I'm willing to seed from my home connection if someone can set up a stable, private tracker.

My hosting is currently flooded with people ftp'ing all the disks, so it's going to be a real slow trip to get them at this point of time.

My site was put up to primarily benefit those in Australia and New Zealand as downloading them from the USA was very slow (something that you guys are now seeing getting the titles from the USA ).


I can't do much more than what I'm doing now, so please be selective with what you are downloading, and just download what you really need, rather than downloading everything, as it will free up the site a little for others.


We still need others to at least host the last few titles, especially if we get any new titles released, as there's always a rush for them when they come out.

I myself got busy and didn't keep up with the last few discs. Now there isn't a good way to finish that up.

More importantly - there doesn't appear to be a good way for any new blood to take the plunge here.

just out of curiosity, why hasn't anybody put up another private torrent tracker?

When this started a while ago (before I started my HT!) I downloaded the first 14 demo discs. I've since stopped paying attention but my HT is complete and I'd like to make my own custom demo disc. I own all my source material and I'm familiar with how to get the DVD source onto my machine. Where I'm struggling is the right tool to edit the video in prep for use with DVD-lab. For those of you who have made these or are familiar with the process, what are you using for video editing and DVD (.vob) extraction? Thanks,

The plain old windows client from the bit torrent (http://www.**********.com/download) site.

A private tracker is as private as the torrent files are, i.e. whoever has the .torrent files can get them... of course as long as people don't spread the .torrent files (the disks are free to spread), then it should be fairly safe.


The bit torrent site is www.bit torrent.com/download , just make sure to remove the blank space between bit and torrent, as the forum software censors it. :(

Sorry to see you pull out, but I'm sure you'll find out in the end that it wasn't due to having the iso's online, but the simple fact that you have a ftp server up and running showed up the bogus logins.

The script kiddies scan IP addresses for different ports, and when they find a port available, such as the ftp port, they then try to login to it by doing a dictionary attack. Since you have only one valid ftp user, then they won't be getting in to your files.


As I said, sorry to see you pull out, but ultimately you're the guy paying for the bandwidth, not me. :)

Now that two more opportunites have opened up for people to get their demos let's all work together to make things work well for everyone. If at all possible, when you download a torrent or two on your machine then let them seed on your machine. If many people are seeding, individuals don't need to give a lot of bandwidth but can give back for being able to benefit from these demos.

I guess I have a noob torrent question... I have several iso's on my 'server' PC but without downloading the file again to seed them back out, how do I add my files into the torrent? I have access to bpratt2's torrent files, just don't know how to use them. I must be getting old ;-)

I, too, am more than willing to help but a pit technically challenged. I know how to download and seed torrents but I don't have any source material. I tried twice buy got kicked as per the post above. Anyone willing to forward a copy of the dvd's for a reasonable price? I would rip, copy x 3 and send 2 to those who would agree to copy x 3 and send out 2 copies, and so on. Kind of a pay it forward.

Here is how you can setup your ISOs to start seeding without having to download them again, using utorrent (www.utorrent.com):

1. Download your torrent from the ftp site and load it into µTorrent (it should go to download mode and show 0%.)
2. Stop the torrent, right-click on it, and select "Set Download Location" in the context menu under "Advanced".
3. Browse your way to where the content is located (i.e. the same path you specified when making the torrent) and open. For torrents with multiple files, make sure you point TO the containing folder and not IN it.
4. Start the torrent. µTorrent will start checking the files (% will rise rather quickly), and when it reaches 100% it will start seeding (the larger the torrent the longer this will take).

Persoanlly I'd rather keep the torrents private or limited. I can seed to one or two people at a time but I don't have massive upload bandwidth. If the torrents are posted here they will make their way out in the 'wild' and we'll get hammered.

I am currently downloading and seeding D6v2-DTS-demo. I will leave it up for while. If anyone can post torrent links to other demo discs, I will seed those as well. If anyone wants to allow me to ftp ISO's, I'd be more than happy to reciprocate.

Looks like we lost a few posts with the crash!

If I can ask again: How are people authoring these DVDs? Is there any how-to available? Is it possible with all free software or does it require paying for something like DVDLab?

And another one - can anyone currently running a FTP/tracker for these discs chime in? I think some new ones were set up recently but now those posts are gone.

I'm also using Nero, StaxRip, DVD Shrink, RipIt4Me, and DVD Decrypter, but that last program has had a few problems with some discs. Any suggestions on a better decrypter would also be appreciated.

Did you use a FTP program to access the FTP site ?

Once you FTP there you will be able to download the torrent files too.

Lots of good info here. I tried the ConvertXtoDVD software which is just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately, the doctor is very cheap and doesn't feel like coughing up $50 for it. Anyone know of a good free authoring tool? Not sure if I can justify the cost for the few DVD's I'd make.

I'm using dvdshrink to grab clips from the various DVD's. How do I get 'em back onto DVD using dvdshrink? Probaly OT for this thread, send me a PM if you can spare the time (or anyone else who has a good program in mind or keys to the ConvertX software ;) )

Use nero to burn. That what dvdshrink works with best. Or what I sometimes do is to burn into my hard drive and transfer that file onto dvd with whatever dvd burning software I otherwise use.

Check here (http://forum.videohelp.com/topic198813.html) for some instructions on how to get specific scenes. It also explains how to use DVDShrink to gather the chunks and put them on one DVD. There's a pile of info on how to make menus using other software which you can skip over. There lies the problem for me. I'd like to include some simple menus to access the scenes, but everything appears to be trial software. ConvertXToDvd puts in an annoying watermark over the video in trial mode.

The purpose of DVDShrink is to decrypt the copy protection so you can back up your software.

It might be helpful if those who are participating in the torrents to indicate which ones they are seeding? Like a who needs what. The more people who are seeding the faster it will go. FTP is slow depending on who and where they are hosted. Many high speed residential providers frown on or do not tolerate ftp/servers torrents seem like the logical solution right now.

I currently am getting DS-All-In-One-Demo.iso, D4-DD-Demo.iso, I am trying D26-Demo.ISO but it is not currently seeding. My transfer is 1.7K so I got about 28 hours LOL. It depends on if you "riped" the DVD or if you simply just used a DVD authoring tool to create a ISO from the DVD. Some tools would compress the size of the data, but if its a 1:1 ISO image of the disk it should be the same.

Unfortunately not, as the files will be different enough for the file to fail, and that's if you could get it to seed, as you need to get your new torrent file to whoever is wanting it.

Since he has the same files, I would say the tracker has not added him to the list of current seeders.

utorrent shows that there are several seeders and leechers for each of the torrents i am seeding, but that none are actually connected to me. If anyone has any idea what the problem may be, I would appreciate it.

The ratios for some of the torrents are greater than zero and some are greater than one, so some people have been able to connect in the past.

That's great to see, the more people like you prepared to help out, the quicker and easier it will be for others to get the dvd's, and therefore help each other to more efficiently get them all.

I've mastered the use of a laptop to stream flac files to an outboard USB to Spdif converter, but after a few hours of reading and trial it's clear I'm not close to mastering the process of downloading these files and converting them to DVDs.

I am up for that, I am now seeding D2-LFE-Demo.iso after 4 days so Brucemck2 I am not sure why you are not able to.

We could do a pay it forward type of deal, someone make a copy from one, the next make a copy for the next and so on, that way we are sort of trading disks and ware and tare on our equipment. 26 disks are a lot of copying.

I have about 300 Taiyo Youden white injet hub-printable disks that are free to be used ;-)

I have the facilities to make a couple copies so I will give it a "stimulus" boost ;-)

We may need a new thread just to track who needs what and who is currently copying, if we can get a few people making a couple copies then we can shoot them in different directions and get them out faster. Its understandable that some people will only be able to product one copy, but others who have the facilities should be able to produce a couple or more I will commit to two copies along with the copy for me. I will also pay shipping to the next person. If there is 26 disks I have a nice plastic box that will hold 25-27 disks that my Taiyo Yuden disks come in that will make great little shipping boxes for them. Disk labels and covers and cases will be the responsibility of the members.

No need to make two copies just send the ISO data files on DVD to me and I will make the copies and forward them on and then start seeding the files.

I am currently seeding D2-LFE-Demo.iso so currently there are 3 seeders for that file on the torrents.
