bugman72 01-19-07, 11:14 AM I had downloaded a disc #19 from Swithey some time ago with this content...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/bugman72/Cover_19.jpg
That was the demo disc that I was wondering about. I'll just go ahead and replace it with the new #19, since the content is more consistent with the previous ones.
I'll check back later to see if Swithey had the chance to upload the new disc label. Also, I am in the process of redoing the covers from slimline to standard (all of the others that I have are in standard cases). Would it be beneficial to send those to Swithey for upload so folks have a choice?
swithey 01-20-07, 12:27 AM Swithey forgot to load the LOTR label on his ftp. I pm'ed him about it.
The labels/covers above are only for those that want a special cover for these two discs. The original covers - the tech theme ones - are still there to keep the consistency between covers.
I'm just giving you guys a choice.
The missing LOTR label is now on the site. Sorry about that :o
I checked and the "normal" D19 (cover and label) is correct for the LOTR content. The original D19 (movie trailers) is gone and was replaced with a new improved version now called T1-MovieTrailers.

Mr. Bugman,
Let me know when you get them done and we can coordinate the upload. Just PM me when you are ready.
Buknakyd 01-22-07, 07:22 PM Thanks to all that have made this possible and had a hand in this awesome opportunity. Especially Swithey for hosting!
I've only downloaded a couple of these but this is going to work great to show off my new system when all my friends come over on SuperBowl Sunday.
On a side note; if anyone has any of the "official" dts demo discs that aren't on the ftp site, could you please pm me as I would like to get a copy of them and would be willing to pay via paypal for materials, etc. to have you mail them to me. And I would be willing to pay it forward to the next person interested after I get a copy. Thanks
bugman72 01-23-07, 04:54 PM I didn't think that any of the "official" DTS demo dvds were on the FTP. Am I incorrect? If so, please let me know where they are and I will be sure to drop them down.

The FTP site will never have any of the "official" DTS disc on it since they are copyrighted. I believe Bob's torrent used to have some of them available for download.
jeremy37210 01-25-07, 09:38 PM A little help here? I just downloaded and burned Disc 6 to DVD. However I have no audio when I play it. I have a THX certified pioneer 7.1 channel receiver.
Any ideas?

D6 is 100% DTS audio. Make sure eith your recevier or DVD player can play DTS audio.
jeremy37210 01-25-07, 11:36 PM I'm pretty sure about the receiver. I'm using an Xbox360 as a DVD player and thought it could too.
Maybe after a good night's sleep I'll figure it out :(

From what I've read the Xbox 360 will just pass DTS through to your receiver via optical. It can't do it via the L,R audio cables (which I'm sure you know). Perhaps you just need to select the next audio track on your receiver?
jeremy37210 01-26-07, 04:28 PM I forgot that my toslink cable was an inch short for my current setup and I used the RCA cables for audio :(
Ordered a longer one from monoprice and my problem should be solved.

So sorry you are having trouble. There is one thing that comes to mind that might be the cause of your trouble. If you are writing the ISO images to a FAT32 partition on your Hard Drive, there is a limit of 4GB for a single file. A number of these files are over 4GB. Since the file system cannot handle this larger file size, the ISO image becomes corrupted.
The fix is to write to a NTFS partition which can handle files as large a has as 16 terrabytes. Hope this info helps :)
EDIT: And if you cannot find the files, do a seach on your entire Hard Drive for *.ISO

I'm not sure what is causing your problem but I had to use a different program. I'm using Sateiria CD/DVD successfully at the moment. DVD Decryptor would give me an error everytime when it failed to load the iso image.
Thanks again to swithey for hosting and not kicking me off despite it taking my connection days (I hate my ISP rebooting my connection!) to finish.
nikos77 01-28-07, 06:33 PM Hello everyone. Amazing work of what you've put together.
Can someone please assist me either by giving me the ftp info and/or torrent info?
or If someone can send me copies and I send them on to the next....
Thanks in advance.
Nikos
the tracker is:
http://bob4432.sytes.net:6583/
it was down the last day or two due to an error i made in the router - i accidentally turned of the port, sorry about that.
so it is back up now
LARMAN1 01-30-07, 10:35 AM Would anyone be willing to send me copies of these disks? I have a crappy computer and no DVD burner. I am willing to pay for them..Thanks in advance
davethomasowns 02-06-07, 04:13 PM Hello all. I know I am new to this but hopefully someone can help me. I downloaded and am using ws_ftp from the link provided. I successfully connected to switheys server. Here's the thing. I don't know if I was supposed to drag the files I wanted onto the leftside (my computer,) but I didnt. I just double clicked on the files I wanted. Hours later when they were done, I found them in the "storage" folder. A couple I dragged over to my documents. I still have these.
Now today when I went back to the "storage" folder to find the other ones, they have vanished. I even used search with the file names and they are nowhere to be found. Did they automatically delete since I left them in that folder? Do I HAVE to drag to somewhere on my local computer? Is that the problem?
If so, is there anyway I could go back and get the 3 I didn't touch without having to re-download, or do I have to?
Thanks for the help!
Shane
WS_FTP has two windows (one for local and one for remote) and between them are a pair of buttons with arrows. One points from left (local) to right (remote) and is for uploading files that are selected in the left window to the folder being viewed in the right window (remote FTP site). The other points from right (remote FTP site) to left (local). To download a file or files from the remote site, you select the file (or hold down CTRL and select several files) and press the button that points to the left and the file(s) will be downloaded to the local folder being viewed in the left window.
If the files have been purged from your temporary folder, you'll have to re-download them.
Greetings one and all !
Would have to say, may have put this elsewhere. .. nevermind.
Yes I would lilke to be able to get in on the list. I am not able to d/load
all these demo discs which I would dearly love to own.
So my question is, is there anyone willing to copy them for me, I will of course
reinburse them and or give copies of the discs I have at the moment.
I am able to copy and forward them to someone on the list.
Any takers ?
Now . . ;. which way to the riser plans section ?.
regards
Ebe

I'm in a similar situation - however I do have broadband, but New Zealand data caps make it hard.
Are there any Kiwis or Australians that have a few of these and would burn them if sent a package of blanks and a return paid envelope?
bpratt2 02-12-07, 09:35 AM Server has been restored. It decided to have a minor hick-up. I quick reboot fixed the issue. Feel free to resume your downloading :D
My ftp server here in Australia is back up again too.... although I'm catching up on the last couple of new iso's :)

Me too. My computer sucks, (still running Windows ME, if you can believe it). Is there any way someone can burn me some copies and mail them to me? I'd be happy to pay. I live in California.
Thanks,
Darien

If anyone out there would be willing to do the legwork for me I would be more than happy to compensate them for their time. Have some friends coming in a few weeks and would love to show off the theater. PM me with which ones you have and how much your time is worth to you. jacket_fan 02-23-07, 04:55 PM I have downloaded a couple of the demo files. I have some DVD-R disks.
How do I get the .ist files to the disk. I have Nero, but have not found anything on how to burn to a disk.
I realize this is pretty elementary stuff, but I ahve never burned a DVD before.
thanks
Pinstripe 02-23-07, 07:30 PM BTW, it's .iso not .ist.
They are image files. Turn on advanced mode (people icon on the bottom). Go to Backup and scroll. Use the 'burn image to disc'.

You can also use DVD Decrypter to burn .iso's. Just download it, go to Mode-->ISO--->Write. Then click the folder icon and navigate to your .iso.
Away you go! And free to boot!
jacket_fan 02-24-07, 07:27 PM Thanks guys, I have copied Demo 2 and 3 and am impressed not only with the demo but the workt hat went into putting them together.
masak_aer 02-28-07, 09:23 AM Can I get all the disks sent to me please? who do i need to send PM to? I can make copies and send them to the next folks needing it. Thanks.
lechonlubber 02-28-07, 11:44 AM Thanks to Swithey, I've got Discs 1 through 20 downloaded and burned. I'm very impressed by the work you guys have done. I still have the 5 Trailers discs to download, but I'm running tight on HDD space. Anyways, drop me a PM and let me know what you guys need. I can hold onto the images for a little while longer.
lechonlubber 02-28-07, 02:04 PM What's SOP here for sending these out? 20 discs is about $6 worth of blanks. USPS Priority is $4.55 with tracking. So is asking $10 for postage and materials for all 20 DVD's ok with you guys? I just want to make sure I'm following the rules.
masak_aer 02-28-07, 02:08 PM Ok with me. How do we pay you then? By paypal, i think there's a small fee included but it's the fastest way.
lechonlubber 02-28-07, 02:25 PM I'm cool with paypal, just as long as it's from money in the account and not a credit card. Credit card transactions have higher fees on the seller end. masak_aer...I'll PM you my details.
masak_aer 02-28-07, 03:31 PM Cool. No problem with me.
LARMAN1 02-28-07, 04:56 PM masak_aer,
Could you count me in as well....I have a PayPal account but with a credit card....I can just add some to the final price if that is OK with you?
PM me the details and I can give you my mailing info....Thanks!
lechonlubber 02-28-07, 06:56 PM Looks like I need a few more posts before I can post URL's or email addy's. Please make sure to put your email in your PM. I'm processing the requests in the order I received the PMs. It's going to take some time to burn that many DVD's so I ask for your patience. I also noticed that there is a disc 21 on the ftp server, I guess I missed that one last week. If I can clean out a little more drive space I'll download that and add it to the pile.
Thanks,
Herb

lechonlubber 03-01-07, 11:29 AM I now have eight people on my list. I thought I had nine, but I see that I looked at the spreadsheet wrong. Anyways, here is the list in the order I received them:
1 LARMAN1
2 mask_aer
3 titch--
4 jacket_fan
5 jayfrost
6 staffy
7 Piggy Stardust
8 darien87
Looks like I'm going to be busy burning for a while. I think that's about all the requests I can take. Once I get these out, I'm sure someone will be able to pass more on. I'm just hoping I can get more blank DVD's on sale, we'll see this weekend. My local OfficeMax is out of stock on the ones listed in their flyer.
Thanks,
Herb

mike1111 03-02-07, 09:57 PM I think I'll be finish downloading all the movies on Monday. If anyone wants an DVDs, please PM me. I only have about 50 blank dvds. I will only take cost of dvds(0.25 each) and shipping or you can pick up in SJ, CA. Thanks again Steve for hosting.
I have an E1405 and it seems that it takes about one and a half hour to burn a dvd at 8x. I'm not sure if that's right or not.

i don't know what a E1405 is but that sounds like way to long to burn. i can burn a dl @ 2.4x w/7.5GB on it in ~35-45min...sounds like it is burning a 1x. a lot of software will say it is burning at whate x but the speed changes as it goes from inside to outside, so if it always giving a constant number, that is not the true number.
i haven't pad attention to how long it takes to burn a 4.5GB single layer dvd, but it should be 8-15min i believe if it is at 8x....let me know if you want me to verify the time as i can make a copy of something i have here....

You really should not be doing something like a download, and also be burning a DVD at the same time.
lechonlubber 03-03-07, 02:09 AM You really should not be doing something like a download, and also be burning a DVD at the same time.
Yeah, you want to keep the quality as high as possible. Do not use the computer at all while it's burning...no matter how fast the computer is. A slight glitch in the data bus can cause errors in the burn. I even turn off any IM and screen savers and set power management to not turn off anything. Sounds like thats a Dell Inspiron E1405 Laptop he's using.

LG drives are usually pretty good. That one has good specs and reviews. Just make sure you've got USB2 and stick to good quality media.

If I only knew someone sending back a balikbayan box! Do you know anyone going back to the PI from the US. Maybe someone here can mail it to them. Mailing it directly to the PI would be the last thing, I've seen pictures get lost...let alone a box of DVD's!
titch-- 03-09-07, 05:31 PM gnusrus Ill hook you up once I get em. :)
It might take abit for it though.
esvedebe 03-09-07, 06:02 PM Could anybody PM me the details on how to download from FTP, I'm currently downloading through torrents... really slow.

Ah, thanks for 'clearly' pointing that out :) , but how would I go on creating my own disc? Is there a one solution softwarepackage?

I use Nero whenever I burn ISO files. They are a standard ISO image so most burning software should do it. Read through a few posts, there are some other software people use.

esvedebe 03-10-07, 05:45 AM I use Nero whenever I burn ISO files. They are a standard ISO image so most burning software should do it. Read through a few posts, there are some other software people use.
Well let me rephrase that: which software packages do the demodisc creators use to create their discs?
I use DVD Decrypter to create an ISO or VOB files and DVD Rebuilder icw CCE to shrink to DVD5.
Which software is capable of copying your own favourite scenes to your own project incl Dolby and DTS?
Is there some guide as of how to create your own selection of scenes?

DVDShrink to pull specific clips, and DVDLab Pro to produce the DVD.
swithey 03-10-07, 11:08 AM DVDShrink to pull specific clips, and DVDLab Pro to produce the DVD.
And to make sure the audio stays in sync, after you rip it off with DVDShrink, use a app called rejig to separate the video from the audio. DVDLab will take it in this format without any trouble.
I'd like to get in on this. I'd be glad to burn a few sets for those who aren't able to download.
Thanks
savagecross 03-11-07, 09:22 AM If I only knew someone sending back a balikbayan box! Do you know anyone going back to the PI from the US. Maybe someone here can mail it to them. Mailing it directly to the PI would be the last thing, I've seen pictures get lost...let alone a box of DVD's!
sir i just sent you a pm containing the adress of my friend who's flight going to PI is on the 29th... :) or would anyone be kind enough to mail the dvds to my friend in california? ill pm the adress...
sparrowho 03-12-07, 07:53 AM Hello from the Great White North. Anyone interested in sending a complete set to Canada? I would be happy to re-distribute to fellow Canadians (and avoid any customs issues). Please PM me. Thanks.
You may want to PM cnlc, as a member who is also in Canada. I shipped a complete set of demos to cnlc from Florida and the shipping rate plus customs forms was expensive. cnlc advised that he could handle the Canada members, but may have already saturated capacity. Give it a try.

Do you remember what it ended up costing you? titch-- is up in Canada and from what I can tell, it's going to cost more to ship than the cost of materials! Also, I take it you had to fill out customs forms?
masak_aer 03-12-07, 09:28 PM Herb,
I got the dvds today.. Thank you very much.
I've been reading on this forum for awhile, didn't know about this thread until a guy from the RX8club brought it up. I would like to get the demo disks, and can redistribute. Please pm me for any details
Thanks

Same here! Please PM me and I will make a contribution via paypal or something.
Thanks in advance!

I've mentioned it before, and I think it bears repeating (and it is only my opinion)...
There are now close to 30 demo discs in this group. Asking someone to burn a complete set is asking a lot. And there are a lot of repeated scenes among the discs. I think you'd have much better luck asking for 1 or 2 of the discs. Once you've played those out ask for a couple more.
Read the summaries of each disc on Swithey's FTP site to get some idea of what's on each demo.
victor-eyd 03-17-07, 04:17 PM There's 30 now?!! Where's my set :-)

jacket_fan 03-17-07, 06:26 PM I want to give a big thanks to herb, lechonlubber, for the set of disks he copied. You did a great job and I really appreciate your time and effort. I picked up some DVD cases today and will enjoy giveing some demos when guests come over.
Victor, you have some great demos in the collection. :)

I'm glad you guys are getting them. I always worry that they may get damaged in transit. Funny thing is that I haven't even had the chance to sit down and really watch the demos. I've just been flipping through them. That or I end up watching a scene from a movie I haven't seen in a while and end up digging out the original DVD to watch it!
To those waiting on my list, don't worry...I'm getting to them. March Madness and the Wii have been distractions lately!
...and to the original creators of the Demos...you guys rock!
Laughorgy 03-18-07, 03:39 PM Anyone else have difficulty downloading the new LFE2 disc. #21 ? I'm using the FTP server , thanks swithey , but can only get about half way (2,267,740k) before it quits on me . I've tried several times without success. Any advice would be appreciated . Thanks for all the great work being done on this site .
This thread has gotten big.
Anyone willing to send a set to Calif? I will be happy to pay postage and disk cost. I have a DVD burner so if there is an FTP site, please advise.
Thanks,

just a quick fyi about the tracker -
It is time for this server to be updated and this particular script will probably not be moved over to the new setup. At the very least, if there is a tracker on the server after the maintenance upgrade (full re-install of os and software - updating apache to 2.2, mysql to 5.x and also running apache with mod-ssl running, running ftp-ssl) moving over the data has basically no chance of making the move due to time contraints.
I have set the script so that there will be no more new users, so those that are currently downloading, please do not start more. I do not know the exact date of the change, but it will not be too far off.
It has been a good run, but some of the stuff that needs to be done have been put off for some time, and it just needs to be done. I apologize for any inconvience this may cause, but I see that between switheys ftp and others burning discs and helping fellow members out, I think it will work out very well.
i have a couple different servers doing what the hardware that it is running on do, but the install is over a couple of years old  so it is time for some updating
it has been a pleasure to help others enjoy these great demo dvds :)

Bob,
Thanks for hosting the Torret. I know a lot of AVSers utilized your service :) Hopefully my FTP will continue to chug along with its existing OS load. Let me know if you need anything from my end.

thanks for the offer :) after i decide if i am going to just do a os/app re-install/upgrae or a full new build using lower power items i will definately let you know. in the mean time i am going to look for a different torrent script too :)
sparrowho 03-20-07, 05:47 AM Do you remember what it ended up costing you? titch-- is up in Canada and from what I can tell, it's going to cost more to ship than the cost of materials! Also, I take it you had to fill out customs forms?
I made two shipments. First shipment was $4.65 and second shipment was $17.65, but please note that I shipped each demo disc in a DVD clamshell case with cover art inserted. The clamshell cases and blank media were certainly less than the cost of shipping and yes I had to stand in line, both times, at the post office to fill out a customs form.
My obvious conclusion was it is expensive to ship out of country and also time consuming. I intended to compile a list of AVS members interested in these demos that would contain the country, but alas other tasks have pushed this aside for now. I don't even get a chance to read the new posts on AVS each week. Someday I will catch up and work on this project again.

Hello All,
I’m new to this FTP download technology. I have spent the last three evening trying to figure out how to connect or were to find a link to the server to download these demo DVD’s. I have down loaded WS_FTP program, but not sure were to go from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be more than willing to burn disks for others or what ever it takes. I hope I’m not being a pest to this forum. Thank You
victor-eyd 03-22-07, 10:46 PM post #1850 pretty much states what you need to know
just an fyi on the tracker - looks like probably the weekend at the end of the month is going to be when the tracker goes down. i may put a new one up, have not decided, but that is the projected time.
i am having some medical procedures done around that time so hopefully they will not hinder me from the upgrade.

You 'connect' to the ftp host, the address that swithey (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/member.php?u=19451) gave you, put in the username and password and connect. You will see the files listed in one window and your computer's drive in the other. Select where on your hard drive you want to save the iso files to and just drag the iso from the remote ftp location onto yours - do only 1 at a time. Go away, wash your car, cook supper, watch a movie or two. Your download will take approx. 4 hours.
Then get DVD Decrypter (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/) or use Nero and burn the iso file to a blank dvd.
darien87 03-24-07, 04:18 PM I just got my set from mike1111 today. I just want to say a big thank you to him, for taking the time to do that for me. I offered the guy some money and he said, "no thanks". Classy guy.
Also, thanks to the guys that set this whole thing up. I especially love the covers. They came out great on my color laser printer!
Thanks again guys!
Sierra Pete 03-27-07, 12:59 AM Darien87
Since you are the latest to get copies of the discs, are you able to make copies for me? In return I will do the same for the next person.
Thanks for your help,
Pete
darien87 03-27-07, 11:31 AM Sorry Pete,
The whole reason why I got a set from someone else, is that I'm a computard when it comes to burning DVD's. I still haven't done it yet. But when I get around to learning how to do it. I'll see about hooking you up. Plus, I didn't want all of them. I think asking someone to burn you 20 DVD's is kinda crazy.
I have: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 17, 18, 21
Sierra Pete 03-27-07, 01:06 PM I didn't realize it was up to 20. Oh well, if you get a chance sometime to burn what you have, that would be great. Thanks!

That's great to hear. Thanks for the update.
I've been eyeing this thread for a VERY long time, but haven't participated due to questions of legallity. Mostly the fact that, if I download discs from those could have graciously hosted the files, I would like to contribute by means of hosting the files myself or participating in a torrent.
This is complicated by the fact that, I'd prefer not host it on any of my machines in my home. Bandwidth is rather valuable to me, and the torrents appear to have been short lived here. I have a hosting service, with generous amounts of storage (over 200GB available and more than 2TB of data transfers per day). However, that have explicit rules against hosting copy protected data. And I remain skeptic that this content doesn't qualify as copy protected.
Is there enough interest here to re-kindle the snail-mail demo tree?
squidboy 04-12-07, 01:57 PM I have a hosting service, with generous amounts of storage (over 200GB available and more than 2TB of data transfers per day).
:eek::eek::eek:
Is that supposed to be 2 TB per month?
IANAL, but the video clips can be considered fair use. That doesn't mean your hosting company wouldn't object, however.
Y2KFirehawk 04-12-07, 04:08 PM I just want to download it :( :(
I'd be willing to give someone my FTP information to upload it so that I can post a link for others to download from!

Oops... yeah, per month; 2.7TB per month to be exact. :o Not sure how I mistyped that one!
My host is dreamhost.com, and they only state that "blatant copyright infringement" is restricted. Sounds fair enough. If I can get copies of the discs, I'll give hosting the files a shot. The worst that could happen is, they'll remove the files in question.
Y2KFirehawk 04-20-07, 11:45 AM I'm currently working on getting them uploaded! I will post again with links ASAP.

SWEET!
I'm actually working on a LFE disc myself. I have v2 of the prototype done but it needs some more tweaking and a little more content. One really cool feature it will have is a LFE "overload" scene. It will play the most intense parts of scenes back to back -- guaranteed to overheat your sub :D. I'm watching THIS (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=755493) thread for ideas on content for my disc as well. Being on Blockbuster Online has made it a lot easier to demo all the material before I buy the actual DVD for my collection.
I'm still working on downloading the rest of the discs (Thanks Swithey!), but I have started a website. I'm trying to compile all the information I can find into one convenient site. I'm currently working on installing a gallery for the artwork. I haven't decided how I'm going to allow access to the disc images themselves, but it'll be either though controlled access to the website and/or FTP.
If anybody would like to take a look at the site, I'd be grateful for any input, additional information, or flat out constructive critism. I'm not 100% happy with the appearance, but it works (i.e. the logo is something I threw together in less than 5 mins). I almost backtracked already, and switched to a wiki, but I'm not sure that's best suited for this.
I like to contribute whenever I can, and here's my best attempt so far...

i think it looks really good. if that is a "real" dts disc in the main pic you may want to remove it as it is could cause some issues.
also, the little arrows on the lists look cool but they trick me into thinking they should be a link

Disc 9 :) :D
Update...
To be honest, I've been researching "fair use", and I certainly have some doubts; particularly after finally viewing the first disc last night. Personally, I don't see any kind of encroachment into the studios market or profitability, but there is considerable length to most of these scenes. Most material is stuff I already own, intend to purchase anyway, or don't intend to purchase ever. These discs aren't likely to change anything, except possibly spur the purchase of more DVDs.
At any rate, while I am extremely happy with the appearance of the website as it is, I fear that it may draw too much attention. I'd still like to contribute to the "HT Demo Tree", but I'm not sure I'll be leaving the web site up. We'll see. I've had it in "maintenance mode", but it's back up now, but the content is restricted to registered users. I believe that's actually appropriate, as I view this as a "private", albeit group, project. For AVS members, log in as "avsuser" with password "demoinfo". (http://htdemos.tjapkes.com)
I just want it to be pretty apparent that we're not openly distributing these to the general public.
Also, I've discovered limitations with hosting files of this size via the web, and now understand why FTP has been the protocol of choice! Rather than break up the files into smaller files, which just displaces one learning curve for another, I've taken the same avenue (FTP). PM me for info.

Have disc- will check out :D
nosdude 05-11-07, 04:49 PM I'm still working on downloading the rest of the discs (Thanks Swithey!), but I have started a website.

I just bought a new sub, and I would like to download the LFE demo dvd. I'm willing to buy if possible. Thx. HELP !!!
mjrichar 05-12-07, 01:21 PM Update...
I may be overlooking how to download the Discs on the website after logging in...How can I download the disc data?
thanks.

Awesome!
I'm in the office 1/2 day on Monday and out the rest of the week. If I get it on Monday, I'll do my best to get it posted to the site the same day. If it comes later, it will be the next Monday before it is available for download.

Nice job Victor!
No hiccups, played straight through. Only thing I noticed was the Air Force One clip, if you play all T3 comes before AF1, if you select AF1 from the menu it goes to AF1.

Now that'd be a nice idea, as nearly all DVD's are not full face ones these days. :)
Pinstripe 05-27-07, 09:36 AM Why not a full face label?
You mean to cover more of the inner circle? Because not everyone buys those kinds of labels.
bpratt2 05-27-07, 10:31 PM You mean to cover more of the inner circle? Because not everyone buys those kinds of labels.
But if you've got cd label printing software, like CD LabelPrint (comes with Canon printers), you can tell it to only print to certain printable disks, so if you use the standard printable disk, and have a full face label, you tell the software that you have standard disks, and it'll only print to that area set.
:)

oh and why doesn't someone upload to usenet and then no one person has to foot the bandwidth?
swithey 06-01-07, 10:33 AM The FTP site will be slow today. I have some heavy downloading to do on the pipe. You might experience slower than normal download speeds and/or timeouts.
I should be done by the end of the day.

Well I finally got some "alone time" in the house and was able to turn things up a bit. I believe the chapter from Monster House took the cake for some of the best LFE on the disc. It's just intense as the house walks down the street. Also, the scene from Flags of Our Fathers in the very beginning with the shots going off in the background was very well done. The surround was really authentic and the bass was dead on.
wraunch 06-05-07, 10:32 AM How can I get this? I can burn I just need to know how to d/l it.
Pinstripe 06-05-07, 06:04 PM PM swithey for access to his ftp.
ccarzoo 06-09-07, 12:54 PM Anyone interested in another demo? I'll send out two discs and they can pass on to others.
Once again, 1st come 1st served. Basicly a sub work out disc, but there's some good surround
usage too. I've made menus and added background music to them. Reply here, no PM's or
email.
Here's what you get,
Blue crush-chargin' the pipe
Open Range-gunfight
Nemo-sub
Fight Club-explosion
Freddy vs Jason
Flight of the Phoenix-crash
Hulk-artillary
Matrix-hall shootout
Rundown-bar fight
Team America-bombing
Sky Captain-underwater attack
The Incredibles-rocket launch
The Core-Golden Gate Bridge
We Were Soldiers-broken arrow
U571-they all missed
Atlantis-Leviathon
Equilibrium-not without incident
Die Hard-shoot the glass
And a few DD/THX intros
Always looking to improve, so once you get a copy a quick critique would be aprreciated.
how many disks do you have, i'd be interested in a few different ones,

Help I am trying to acces a site that Swithey gave me using SmartFTP and I get this message
Unable to resolve host name.
Suggestions?
Pete7874 06-10-07, 07:13 PM go to windows command (cmd), and type ping, then space, then the name of the host that Swithey gave you, and hit enter. Among other things, you should be able to see the server's IP address. In SmartFTP, enter that IP address instead of the host name.

I am such an idiot.

type 'cmd' and click 'OK'.

Indeed, nothing to forgive. I feel the least someone can do is take some time and figure out how to DL and use them.
An abbreviation comes to mind: RTFT (Read The F**** Thread!!) :D
swithey 06-11-07, 07:51 AM I feel the least someone can do is take some time and figure out how to DL and use them.
Maybe Kweezr would be kind enough to update the 1st post with info about how to acquire the DVDs -- be it snail mail, FTP or Torrent? Keith -- how say you :D
I still have the discs on my FTP site as well (to clarify, they are NOT on the website, which contains info, as well as disc and cover art). Things have been crazy insane busy at work and home, so there was a 2 week period, at least, where I hadn't been on the site at all. I've barely touched the discs myself (only viewed the 1st and half the 2nd). A coworker was able to download all 21 discs from me within the last week, so everything still works (no interferance from the host). I'm not sure how much success others have had with downloading from me though.
Should this take a long time? I've never downloaded anything like this.
I just double clicked on the disc I wanted and it started doing something. Do I need to designate a specific folder for it?

Expect 6-8 hours to download a single ISO file.
To download, just drag the ISO file onto your desktop (or into a folder of your choice) and go to bed. It should be done by the next morning.
Steve
1 hr later on disc 7 I had 2% and it states Client closed the connection again. 3rd times the charm and if not I quit.
ccarzoo 06-11-07, 07:02 PM I received the first iso file. Can an ISO be played in an xbox 360? I have tried to do this before and it didn't work, anyone know about this issue?

Looks like you have a slower connection. At your speed, it will probably take about 24hours to download a single DVD (they are rather large files). Sorry -- but just wanted you to be prepared.
Also, some people get kicked off for unknown reasons (your ISP, my ISP and/or anything in the middle) -- so it will probably happen again, unfortunately :( There are programs out there that will reconnect you automatically if you ever get disconnected. One that works quite well is Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/). The kicker is you have to know the exact URL address to the file you want to download. It's not hard to get this link once you figure out the file structure of the 1st one.

Not that I know of. You will need to burn it to an actual DVD. You "may" be able to explode the ISO file to your HD (so it will looks like a DVD) and point your XB360 to that directory. You can explode the ISO files with WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm)

Thanks for the help though.
Mrkazador 06-11-07, 10:25 PM Should this take a long time? I've never downloaded anything like this.
I download at a constant 90KB/s. Cant really complain, its free lol. Takes about 12 hours or so, leave it overnight and should be done by noon. I use FileZilla BTW.
How do I burn these am using Ipswitch?
Pete7874 06-11-07, 10:32 PM 4th time and it dropped the connection 12% percent in I quit.
Use FileZilla. It'll automatically resume when connection is dropped or download gets stuck.
I was getting about 90 KB/s during the day as well, but at night I was downloading two images at once getting a total of about 300 KB/s. Not lightning fast, but not bad either. I got 4 demo discs downloaded in less than 24 hours. Burned them to DVD using Nero 6.
Now all I need is for my sub to get here so that I can make use of these. :p
Big thanks to all the folks who put these demo discs together and made them available. Internet is a wonderful thing!
victor-eyd 06-11-07, 10:34 PM Filezilla worked for me (I think) but I was uploading #22, not downloading it.

I am downloading #22 now, should be done by morning.
I would like to offer to send out a couple of copies or so for those who are having trouble downloading it.
I don't want to get overwhelmed with requests but I'm willing to help out if you can't download it.

Some Please Tell Me How To Burn These Files!!!!!
Some Please Tell Me How To Burn These Files!!!!!
Download the "How to burn ISO to DVD.TXT" file that is on the FTP site, also download the "setupimgburn_2.1.0.0.exe" program. That is in the "ImgBurn" folder, which is also on the FTP site.
ThankS HOLD UP WHAT KIND OF DVD DO I USE? DVD-RW OR DVD+RW
HOLD UP WHAT KIND OF DVD DO I USE? DVD-RW OR DVD+RW
USE A DVD-R OR A DVD+R... UNLESS THE PLAYER YOU ARE USING IT ON CAN PLAY THE RW'S
You probably would have better luck just using a "+ or - r"
Rob_McArthur 06-12-07, 02:01 AM I have had great success in downloading and burning the discs. All you need is a little bit of patience and to do a little research on your own and it's a piece of cake. The discs that I have downloaded and tried so far all fantastic.
I for one and I'm sure many, many others would like to thank Steve for hosting these for us and all those that contributed to making and providing access to them for no charge or in expectation of anything in return. This is the kind of thing that makes this forum a great community to be part of.
Thanks again everybody!
Rob
Ok I will keep trying and if I get any downloaded I will try to pass them on. Also, any that I may receive in the mail I will copy and forward on if at all possible.
Thanks for all the help. I hope persistence will pay off.
ChaoticPlatypus 06-12-07, 11:48 AM Thanks to swithey for the prompt & courteous pm response! Many thanks to victor-eyd, all the others who worked on these Demos; I d/l'd and burned Disc-20 and Disc-22 so far, and they are awesome!
Thank you again all; excellent ideas, and great delivery.
DOWNLOAD COMPLETE!
I almost cried this morning when I saw it. Man I hate using new software and no instructions. Now all I have to do is burn it this evening when I get home. I hope the computer is working on a second download right now. Thanks for the description list of what's available that will help me narrow my choices down.
Thanks for the help and listening to me whine. :D
Umm got a question I downloaded disc 3 and some of the chapters are not what they say and it keeps linking back to scenes from Master and Commander, U571 and others. For example the chapter list may read the Matrix but it plays the a scene from National Treasure. Then it just locks up and quits at one section. This is after I burnt the disc using DVD decrypter.
Has anyone else had this problem?
I just checked and the file is about 1'3 the size it should be. It downloaded 1.3GB and the total file size is 3.9GB.
Anybody have any suggestion?
Pete7874 06-13-07, 11:43 PM It means that it did not complete downloading. Either try resuming the download or start over.
I found out a long time ago, that when some FTP programs tells you a download is complete, yet it ends up that the file is too small and in fact is not complete. That it seems to be common with some FTP programs, where with others it is no problem. Much earlier in the thread here, there was some discussion about it, and many people reported back what FTP programs worked well and without problems. And some even reported back with the ones that did have problems. If I remember right, many people said that the free Core FTP lite had the least amount of problems with it. And that's the one I ended up using, and with no problems like I had with some of the others I had tried before it.
Here is where to get CoreFTP
http://www.coreftp.com/
Well I guess it was my fault for not checking the file size before I burnt it. I'll move the file back into position and keep trying to download it again. Well I mean resume the download. If I run into problems again I may try Core FTP. Right now the computer is working on Disc 5 so we will see what happens when I get home.
Patience and brains, I need more of them.

I use Core FTP, and its a solid program. I haven't had any issues at all.

Bill,
About 6-8 hours per DVD depending on your speed. These are rather large files. D2 is smaller so it should take a little less time.
OK, the download took 2 hours. Made the disc using Nero 7 and it does not play in my HD-DVD. I can get it to play in a cheap Colby dvd player but it will not start automatically and gives me an error msg. If I push the play button on the Colby player, the dvd will start. It will not start on my HD-DVD player. ????????

Bill,
2 hours sounds really quick for this DVD. It is possible you don't have the entire disc image. Check the size against the size I have on the summary doc. It may not be exact but should be VERY close.
I have 1,898,089 KB in my file and you have 2.23 GB. It looks like I'm missing some files. I'll do another download.
Bill
My computer does not like doing downloads for a long period of time. Nuts, wasted 2 hours tonite and got nothing. Does anyone out there have D-11 or anything else on disc that they can send to me????? I will reimburse whatever!
Bill
Tried to download last night and when I checked it this AM, NOTHING!!! Bummer, I have done downoads before but not for this long of a duration. Again, does anyone have a disk that they can send tome?
Thanx, Bill
Has anyone had any issues with D21-LFE-Demo2.iso? I've downloaded it three times and can only extract part of it. I had some issues with other iso's and just assumed that my FTP program screwed up. But, since I wanted this particular one quite badly, I tried multiple programs and got the same result. Have any of you been able to extract the entire contents of it?
I encountered a really strange bug using Bulletproof FTP which I've been using for years. Let's say, for the sake of example, the file is 4GB. I'd come down to check on it and it would say it has downloaded 5.6GB (and still downloading!) with the time remaining increasing instead of reducing and the amount downloaded in the negative amounts! It happened several times when downloading from this FTP. I'm not sure if it's just my program or something with the site (which I doubt). The odd thing is that I was usually able to extract all the files from the file even if, at one time, the downloaded file ended up being double the size as the original! It's as if Bulletproof would keep downloading garbage data and add it to the end of the file. If I tried downloading the file with Internet Explorer (by manually entering the user and pass) it would download fine. Most of them eventually opened, though some of them appeared to miss some chapters and would crash my MCE when I would try to play them. Others, as someone stated above, would play the first demo on the disk when trying to play one of the last ones. I downloaded everything, but it was really the D21 that I wanted as I just added a second HSU VTF3-MK2 to my setup :D
TheCableMan 06-17-07, 11:44 PM Started my download 2 hours ago and it say I have 35 minutes left. Hope to get this up and runnng tonight

What do you mean by "extract"? There shouldn't be anything to extract there. Just simply open with Nero (or some other burning utility) and burn onto a DVD.
I got the D21 downloaded, but haven't burned it yet. On the other hand, I burned D2 and only a handful of scenes will play - others just don't play after I click on them in the main menu. Is this a known bug? It may have been described somewhere earlier in the thread.

Use the free Core FTP program I mentioned above!
I had all those same kind of problems you are having with another FTP program that I was also using for years before with no problems either, until I started D/L these demo disks. I don't know what it is, but I had all that stuff happen to me also. Either with files being either too big and yet still trying to D/L even more, or with them saying they were done but they ended up being too small when downloading these demo DVD's, until I switched over to using Core FTP. And yet I can still use my other FTP program at other places with no problems at all... But for the demo disks the only thing that worked for me was using Core FTP. There are probably other FTP programs that work also, but once I hit on the first one that worked for me without problems, I stopped looking for any others.
RensMond 06-18-07, 08:30 AM Hi...
I would just like to know if there is anybody that will be willing to create a full set of demo-dvds and post it to me in South-Africa?
I will cover all you costs and shipping fees. I am stuck on a DSL 384kbps line that cost me +/- $10 per 1Gb. So it will take me about a month to download all the dvds (at maximum speed, without lost connections) and cost me about $700.
I already downloaded all the artwork but now need the dvds.
Thanks.
