This process will probably take just as long as downloading :p , but will be much less frustrating. Tried DLing, but it was just toooo slow! I participated in one of these trees a while back on another forum and it worked out quite nicely.

I'll bite. Looks like I'm the third (unless tidalwdave's request for just one disc takes the last slot).

I have some final editing to do on my own version of a demo and should ready for release
the middle of the week. This disc will have title page, navigation page and menus with
background music. Will post back when it's complete......

I sent disc 3 (which I got from tidalwave) to MikeRich on Thursday.

That's a big file size.....what I could do is maybe host like a disk a week? ie download disk 1 this week then disk 2 exc......I could also post them on rapidshare or something similar. I am more then willing to try if someone would send them this way.

If someone tells me where to download the discs I'll download them and burn them to disc and send them that way.

In Virginia in the late 80's there was one in particular with a retro stewardess with a southern twang. She did a great job telling everyone to be quiet and pick up their trash after the movie.

Even the hot dog jumping into the bun intro from "Grease" wouldn't be bad.

Mapping the tree sounds like a good idea.

My disc is #5.

So with 4 from kweezer, 5 from Bclews, and 6 the dts on the way from Kweezer, their will be a total of 6. Somehow we now need to figure out who has sent out what, who has received what, then we could create a map for people to follow. If people want to pm me the information I could map it out based on order of response to the thread.

I have the latest and greatest version of Bclews' demo disc. I received two sets of discs 1,2, and 3, but disc 2 was not working on one of the sets (this was by accident I think, as I told someone not to send the discs).

I'm going to by a new 25 pack of DVD's and just crank em out. I'll send full sets to 3-4 people (15-20 discs) and I'll try and finish up anybody else's incomplete sets (5-10 discs depending). I'll also send out the one set of duplicates I received of 1,2,3.

I've had some trouble getting EMule to get along with my router (#$%^&*). Sorry about that... Hope it stays ok...
All seems fine now, so the 3 original demo discs should be up. It shouldn't matter which server you're connected to, just do a search and you should find the ISO's.
I can leave my server up during the night, but will shut it down during daytime because EMule is eating up bandwidth and my wife needs the connection during daytime.

Would it be possible for someone to send me discs 4-6? I'm in Europe, so that might be a problem. If someone would be so kind, please PM me, i'd be very gratefull. Once i receive them, i'll also make ISO's and share the same way as disc 1-3.

Have software installed, need to test connection from work and see how much it affects available bandwidth on my home connection (which i hope will be less than emule is eating up...). EMule is down, and i'm not starting it up again... to much networking problems... :(

On to the good news:

FTP is running! Tested from my job, worked perfectly... Anyone interested in downloading, please PM me for login details. I'm not allowing anonymous connections. One disc per FTP-username, max. 10 users simultaneously.
I'll up the numbers if this works without problems... :)

There seem to be some problems with certain FTP clients. Windows FTP will not work (don't know why, don't have time to investigate...). Yesterday I was sure FTP Navigator works, now i'm not sure. Some people seem to be getting 0 byte file size on the demo ISO's.

At work i tried WS-FTP LE (an old Win95 version), which worked perfectly. You can find it at:

My upload speed is limited by my provider. Download time is about 24 hrs for disc 2. Disc 1 is a bigger, so will take longer...
Uploading should go quite a bit faster (if the uploader has a fast connection), since my download speed is about 5MB/s... :)

The 4th DTS disc is complete, but far from perfect. I'd say 90% play great, the rest are 1-2sec out of sync. I got an error when triyng to upload, contacted Den for server address.

Will #4 be reissued, when sync issues are corrected? or you just gonna let it be.
Should we wait for a 'final' version then?

I'm not happy with it and will correct the problem. Will probably remove the out of sync scenes and repalce with ones that are in sync for now. Too bad, some of the best clips(IMO) are the ones I have to remove.

I'll keep tinkering till I'm happy with it.

Unfortunately, i've had to shut down the FTP server for now. Sorry about that. I'll need to transfer it to another system, which will take somewhere between a 3 to 8 days. After that, FTP download will be available again.

Those who have already requested login will receive notice (PM) when the server's up and running again. At the moment, i have a waiting list however (need to control access to FTP as to not overload upload speeds).

Also, there has only been one person that has tried to upload discs. I'd like to make all discs available to anyone who wants them, so i still need people who can upload.

I would like to get all 6 discs. Any place to download apart from the FTP site mentioned in the previous message?

I used DVDshrink, DVDlab pro and now Adobe Premeire pro for the demos. For
what your describing Pinnacle Sudio 9 or DVDlab(non-pro) would work out well,
both are about $100 and will give options to make menus/chapters/headings. If
you just want to put them on one disc without all that nonsense shrink would work.

Pinnacle 9 is easier to use(IMO), I've made DVDs of all school activities(slideshow,
movies or a combonation) for the last 6yrs and hand out to the students the last
day of school.....they're always a big hit!

Should put this in another thread, but real quick I love using the editing features of Pinnacle, but myself and many others have experienced great pains capturing and burning with this program. I now use other programs for this.

Just so everyone knows what is on each disc I've included a summary. As you can see, there is quite a bit of duplication in the choice of scenes. I would suggest, therefore, that instead of asking someone to provide all six discs you might start by selecting 1 or 2 that fit your tastes. That way more people will get a chance to try a disc and you won't end up with 4 or 5 copies of the same scenes (or worse, have your request go unfilled). :(

For the copyright holders who might be reading this, I just want you to know that because of these discs I have personally bought 7 or 8 of the movies shown after seeing their clips in the demo. :)

All discs contain an excellent variety of demo clips chosen for their picture quality as well as sound quality.

The idea was whoever received the discs would post it here what they had and
how many they would send out. Then the members who wanted those demos
would contact that individual to arrange shipping details, but it seems that the
tree is loosing it's leaves. I see everyone asking and saying they will send out
discs, but only a few posting what they have received and offering to make copies.

I would like to get all 6 discs. And I would be more than happy to makes copies and send them out. :)

I tried to organize it earlier but only got pm's for people asking and only one person letting me know who they got from and who they sent to. I think it is now a case of who can pm the 1st person offering, and order of posting in the thread doesn't matter. I've tried to pm a couple of people but have never made it in time. I think I'll stick to having a friend with highspeed grab them from BT for me when/if they get posted.

DTS update
Tried something a little different, all audio in sync with video, but need to redo the
transitions. Did them in portait mode instead of landscape. Got about half done
so far, will try and get the rest done tonight. I sacrificed on the transitions a bit to
get the best audio. There's 34 scenes on the disc.

Ok, setting up the FTP on another PC took a little more time than i thought, but it's up and running again (on an older laptop). I should be able to let it run 24/7.

It's a fresh install of Windows and the FTP software, so the old usernames are no longer valid. Some people have already received the discs they wanted to download from me, so i feel it's appropriate to delete al previous requests for FTP login and start over fresh.

I only have discs 1, 2 and 3. At the moment, i can/will not accept requests for the other discs (i.e. i will not be maintaining a list for the other disc requests).
If someone would like to upload one (or all) of the other discs, please PM me for login details. Once uploaded i will make the disc(s) available to others.

Please help me start a VINE.

I have sent several PM for discs 3-5 but no one has been able to reply and offer to send me the disc. I suggest we make a Vine out of the Tree. Lets get a complete set of the discs 1-5 and then pass the set from person to person. This works with trading music. Each person has about 3 days to make a copy and send the set to the next person. This way everyone can get a set and each person only needs make one copy rather than multiple copies.

We can set up a list of 10 and then after that start a new list so it doesn’t get lost.


Here are some Vine rules used by music traders.

VINE RULES and GUIDELINES- VINING - might seem like a lot but once you get used to vines it's all logical but it needs to be spelled out.

1. Please do not sign up for a vine if you will be unable to send it back out within 48-72 hours.
2. When you do sign up for a vine, be sure to:
a. COPY AND PASTE - NOT QUOTE - the complete list from the LAST post on the LAST page. And CHECK after signing on and posting. Make sure you didn't knock someone off the list!
b. Sign up using your member login name.
c. If you live outside of the United States please add that information at the end of your name. (So we can understand why the vine has slowed down)
d. Contact the person above you on the list as soon as you sign on and send them your complete home address with your full nine-digit zip code, and the complete title of the vine for which you are referring.

I have another disk made by another forum member that was made before all these disks. It has THX, including THK WOW and THX Simpsons along with many demos. I know all these disks may duplicate some material but everyone can decide what they want.

Got disks #1-5 this morning from FinalHeaven. I can send out 3-4 copies. Going through the thread, I picked up on several waiting patiently. I have the following list, so if those listed below would please PM me with your address if you want the disks, or let me know if your receiving from someone else.

I guess I'm misunderstanding the vine. I thought that if you were on the vine, then you were automatically receiving the disks from someone before you on the list. I was grabbing names from individuals on this thread that appeared to need the disks but were getting neglected. I've received quite a few PM's but I only have the capacity to send to a couple of people. Sorry for the confusion. When I get done, if I have enough time and am able to send more, I'll contact the remainder who've PM'd me.

Whom can I get disc 6 from? I've got a left over copy of discs 1,3,4, and 5 that I can get rid of. I miscalcuted the number of discs I'd need and found some others all over the place lol.

Still trying to works the bugs out.

May need to drop a few scenes, for some reason around 18th clip it jumps to the
last scene or stops all together. Had this problem before when the disc is full.

I have 2 members that have offered to send me disks to complete the set of 5. So disks 3,4 and 5 should be in the mail this week and hope to receive them next week. After I get them, then I will send them to the next person. I will post the date when I put them in the mail. It will take some time to get to everyone but this way you have a good chance to get a set. I can now reorder the vine and add dboxmeyer. We should close this at 10 people until the disks reach #10 and then start a new vine. Thanks for the help.

I'm interested in getting discs 1-6, however it looks like the current vine is full and a second one hasn't been started. So, I guess put me on the list for the second vine once it gets started, or barring that if someone will send me a set of these discs, I can make copies and send them out to folks that are looking for them.

I’m trying to give back to the forum for the wealth of info available here. I have setup an FTP site on a good size pipe to distribute the Demo DVDs. I currently only have Discs 1,2, 3 and 5 (thanks YldeSyde/David for D5) but am on the vine for the remaining 2. Once I get them, I will add them to the site.

Please follow these rules:
1) PM me and I will give you a username and password to gain access to the site
2) Because of CPU overload, I am limiting the number of simultaneous downloads at the same time. Please be considerate of others and download only 1 DVD at a time to keep the slots open for others.
3) Use a robust FTP client (vs. IE) that supports auto-resume in case your connection gets cut off for any reason – that way the download will pickup where it left off. (i.e. WS_FTP (http://www.ipswitch.com/products/ws_ftp/index.asp ) or CuteFTP (http://www.globalscape.com/products/ftp_clients.asp) )
4) PLEASE, PLEASE do not try to download these DVDs over dialup or 128kb ISDN – it will take literally weeks to get the image.
5) This is a hobby for all of us, so please bear with me if issues come up. It’s an older/spare box I had sitting around.
6) If you try to download and max connections are reached, please try again later.

If someone could add me to their list of hardcopy discs to send out I'd much appreciate it. Unfortunately I can't join the vine because I don't have a burner, but I'd be happy to pick up the incidentals for myself plus a couple/few others as a way to give back to the forum. If someone is planning on passing along the goodwill and sending out the discs to a few folks please PM me and add me to the mix and I'll pick up the tab for the others as well.

With no burner and a lousy internet connection for downloads I'm going to have to rely on a good samaritan to help these discs find their way to me.

One user told be D5 zip file may be corrupt. I'm going to put a fresh copy up there just in case ASAP. I'll call it D5-demoV2.zip. It should be available in about 30 minutes.

In the meantime, wait on the D5 download. I apologize for the file error :(

The new D5 (D5-DemoV2.zip) is up there and ready for download. I have someone downloading and testing it out. We'll know if it's OKAY in a few hours.

There was one user that was about 20% completed on the OLD D5 and I stopped the download. I apologize but did not want you to waste your time downloading a possible corrupt file. Please restart your download with the new version :)

Just wondering how the FTP site is working for people that have already downloaded? Looks like everyone is getting some good download speed (T1 speeds or greater) -- that's great! I want to be sure they all play properly.

Looks like if you try to unzip D5-DemoV2.zip with WinRar it fails. However, if you unzip with WinZip (or Ultimate Zip), it expands without fail.

Also, if anyone wants to upload Disc 4 and/or 6, please PM me. Else, mail me the DVD and I'll put it up on the site for everyone to enjoy :)
