wow! I'm heading straight to Ken Cranes (so. cal) tomorrow and looking for one! just for my info this is a native 720p, but it does do 1080i correct?

Nope (Native 720P like the HD70), but here's a HD70 which is cheaper and the bulb is too @ 102":)

I fished the wire up behind the drywall and into the plenum area above the drop ceiling.

here's my contribution. finally d/l forza 2 demo. at first i couldn't get into it, putting too many hours into burnout revenge has ruined my driving habits but after a while i finally managed to get into this game and man, it's beautiful to watch and play.

here are some shots from the 360 output via components to a benq 6100 svga dlp onto a 115" diagonal 16:9 motorized screen. i haven't fully calibrated my projector for the 360's image as it only has one customizable setting and have it set up for a htpc.

i'm going to be honest and say that the pics make my projector look a little bit better than you think. you can actually see a lot of jaggies on the screen images in person, colors, contrast and black level are a little underrated due to no calibration; but i'm still amazed at how much my game picture has improved due to the 360's HD (720) output. even on an svga front proj, you can see how much of an improvement there is in the image with HD resolutions.

If they are carbon brakes, then they are not necessarily "overheating". :D

What did you use to calibrate your sony?

My knowledge of the service menu codes, a lot of trial and error,DVE,and my trusty service manuel guide.;)

all that needs to be done now is greyscale and it would be perfect! but for now it's close enough after fixing the color decoder now all colors are = in color balance it makes a big difference in PQ...

No I don't think it is. I did AVIA on it like a year ago and I went into the service menu to fix the overscanning and vowed to never return again.

I was too scared.

Someone please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what PGR 3 looks like ever since about Fall of last year. The first pic clearly shows the jaggies, which show up in every game but are most obvious in this example. The second pic is of what it USED to look like before the issue. It looks smooth in this second image because it's switched to "Photo mode" and I snapped a picture in there. This issue started when I received my system back from repair for an unrelated issue. When I got it back I was forced to do an update and ever since it's looked like crap. Have received multiple replacements from Microsoft and they finally swapped it out for a brand new one. I'm so disgusted. I also get jaggies on my PS3 but to a much lesser extent.. it's actually playbable because it's not that bad. My tv is a Sony KDSR60XBR2. Any ideas why I'm having this issue?

Yea, they are Polk and I have been extremely pleased with them. I have the Monitor 50s up front, cs1 center, monitor 30s for surround and the PSW10 subwoofer. I love the setup they are extremely crisp and clear. Im not sure you can do much better for $1000. The only thing I would change is the subwoofer, it does well for the money but I will probably replace it in the down the road.

When Microsoft start making games that utilize all 3 processors on the 360 then u will im sure. the colors do kinda look a lil more deeper but maybe im wrong. I do think the HD DVD look a lil better with the Elite.

Thanks guys,

My favorite game at the moment is C&C 3 which I'm playing on the xbox and PC (depending on which friends are on).
The combination shown is the Infocus 333 (which is a light cannon purchased here from Jason Turk @ AVS the only place you can get them that I know of ) and the SMX acoustically transparent screen. It looks amazing in person the pictures don't do it justice, I'm extremely pleased with the results so far just have a few things left to finish up the room.

Sounds sweet but what exactly is a light cannon lol. I've never heard of that before, I'm kinda relatively new to the audio video thing but am a bit more versed in some of the lingo than when I first started, but never heard of light cannon. Also the nice deep blacks and overall vibrant color is really nice with your projector setup. I searched it on google and I'm seeing something that looks almost like a flashlight, but how that would be implemented in a setup I wouldn't know.

kicks,

Sorry for the confusion. "Light cannon" is a term for a very bright PJ, they are usually business class but a few such as mine are for the HT environment. The 333 is many times brighter then a usual HT PJ commonly used in most homes so the term "Light Cannon" is one that has been used to describe them. The colors for the infocus PJ IMO are excellent out of the box. I will be getting the ISF certification once the room is complete but I don't think there will be lot to "tweak" on the PJ it is already very close from what I've seen running a few set up disks I have.

settings are

Iris - 2
Picture - 68
Brightness - 53
Color - 31
Hue - G5
Color Temp - warm 2
Sharpness - 31
Noise reduction - off

Black corrector - low
Advance lris - low
gamma - max
clear white - off
live color - off

But my service manual settings wont be the same for you since they is a difference of +10/-10 for all 42a10 in how the service settings differ. example all 42a10 have different defualt settings but yield the same result.. So I will link you to the thread that helped me find learn the service manual and find my settings..

Vidmaven,

The 333 is a special PJ that Kodak made with Infocus for cinema.
You can only buy them from AVS that I'm aware of. I tried to do some research and get quotes before I bought mine but AVS was the only place in the world I could find that had them and in most cases even knew of them.

Here is the link on the forum and they may even have some in stock - talk to Jason Turk or one of the other fellows at AVS for details.

Also, No offense to Cedclark but, all your statements made about Cedclark's pics sayin that its so clear and sharp, I think it looks normal for a HDTV. I have a Pio 50" and my pictre looks just as good if not better. I dont understand why everyone is so amazed about his PQ and pics. Its called HD and 1080p or 1080i on a good Plasma or LCD. Calm down everyone. Also all u have to do is have a good 5 mega pix camera, paused the game and take the pic. BYW his set dosen't look like a 42". If your PQ is not equal to his then y'all need to upgrade your tv. lol. Thats just my advice. :-)

Uptown193, people are commenting on the quality of his picture taking, and not necessarily his set-up itself. I think we all know what HD material looks like here and we all know what good quality equipment is when we see it. We also know an immature braggart when we see one.

Ok bud. Your arrogance is astounding.

My comments to you were based of your picture quality of the pictures attached versus his. If you say it's so simplistic to post a quality shot, why do your images make me feel like I have cataracts?. I know your system and I understood your posts quite well.. A 5070 is a beautiful screen.

That being said: People are commenting on the PQ of his pic, not the PQ of his actual screen (which is still beautiful). There for, you insulting the screen he has is unnecessary and immature.

I find my camera looks best at 800-1000 horizontally

Thanks. If only they'd make an F1 game for the 360 - when I first saw that ad I got a huge spark of hope...until I looked closer and realized it was for the upcoming GP.

Some Shadowrun pics. Sanyo Z4 projector @ 90 inches. I just have a consumer grade digicam so taking shots from a projector is a bit troublesome compared to a TV (light output spread too thin!) but these turned out alright. BTW I love this game...too much hating going around for it, but it's fun as hell.

They are all handheld at like 1/3 second shutter speed but the image stablization on my Canon A570IS does a decent job of keeping it sharp. I remember on my old HDTV I could take good pics with like a 1/30 shutter speed or even faster.

My modest setup with a couple screenshots. Sorry, I'm new to uploading pics, so my screenshots suck compared to other ones in this thread. Using Canon 800is camera. My screenshots definitely don't do the 360 justice, as I think they look great even on my almost 3yo TV.

on HD-DVD the shots look like they're from the "Rainforests" episode. The shots are showing the Fungus's and some kind of disease that affect the ground dwelling insects.

Plus I have a Canon XTi with a lens that cost just as much as the camera a month ago and these SLRs take amazing pictures ... I also think those guys just never seen a professional calibrated set. Everyone getting new cameras now lol. I'll post some pics I took l8r when I finish up my Gallery site. Hey Viper, what type of lens are you trying to get and what types of photos are you interested. If you want spend money check out some of Canon's L series lens.

Personally I think Canon has the best cameras then Nikon. Only because Sony makes basically all the image sensors out there. Canon has the money to do it themselves and their lens are top notch. I bought a EF-S 17-85mm USM IS. Its great for everyday use.

Sorry to get off topic like that but I like photography.

Great pics everyone!!!!! I'm still working one the best way to take pics. I should buy a tripod. The IS helps but I still shake a little too much. Last pic was before I got the XTi.

Check out my awesome custom TV stand! Haha.

Getting ready to move soon and renting hence the mess and lack of wires through the wall and no TV stand as of yet.

Got a new TV recently and got my new sub in yesterday!

Masterrh, I am getting those same Polk Monitors, but they'll be used as my front speakers. How are they when gaming? Crisp, muddy, etc. I'm curious.

Hey masterrh, how do you like the Sonos system that you have there? If not for the price my wife actually thought it would be great to have in our house but we cannot afford to get it at the moment. Hopefully like most technology it will become affordable in a matter of a couple years.

They're pretty crisp speakers, I used to have them as my fronts and I really liked them. Of course compared to the Montages they're not so crisp but those are two different price ranges. I upgraded to the Monitor 50s from smaller Polk Satellites and they were great, you'll enjoy them.

The Sonos system is amazing, best music system period when coupled with Rhapsody. I don't really think 1k is that expensive for the potential this thing offers. Remember you can start off with just a package and upgrade as the music allows it. Then for the price of a CD a month (Rhapsody is 12.99/mo) you can have pretty much any song on demand in either of the two Sonos locations. Finding new music is awesome with the Channels they offer, custom playlists you can download from other users and Artist Radios. It will be the best 1k investment you'll make trust me. If you entertain at all you're guests will eat it up. If the wife is giving you problems about spending that $$ just pick it up at alocal retailer that offers 30 day money back without telling her, then let her use it...she'll be hooked. Best of luck.

funny you should say that

I'm just starting to get in to Photography :D

I went on my first shoot the other day

I just went to one of my local ponds just to test out my camera. I don't actually start taking classes until the summer... and I wont be getting a decent lens for another month or so(I'm just using the Canon kit lens right now)

Amazing shots Viper98. I have a Rebel XT as well and trying to get into photography myself and have been shooting with the kit lens for almost a year now. I'm thinking of picking this up soon though: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=149&modelid=10511

And here's a good review of this lens and a few others for the Rebel XT or XTi: http://www.cameralabs.com/features/Canon400D_lens_upgrade/index.shtml

myself
I shoot with the lights off
use a tripod
and if you are getting overexposed pics set your exposure comp. to -1/3 or -2/3
