2k9 is truly the best bball game I have played. Never played a sports game that mimiced real life so much. Props to 2K. First year it looks better than live also. If you look closely at the second to last pic, you could see sweat coming off his head as he slams the ball. The textures in this game are amazing. I don't think that was his point. I think his point was that computer generated images in games and movies are getting to the point where they are reaching the Uncanny Valley. However, I've yet to see a game or movie that can implement eyes properly.

But one could argue that it is CG due to the fact that it is computer generated. At its core, it's nothing but a bunch of polys with textures.

Are you meaning you know it was CG and not real life or its is prerendered and not ingame? With the exception of depth of field, replays look exactly like gameplay.

They are getting closer, thats for sure. 2k9 is the closest to real life as I have seen a game reach. Controls are tight, best bball game i have played. I dont know what viper was thinking when he said live is better. to each his own though

my copy of 2k9 is probably coming in tomorrow. i cant wait. i played it the other day on my friends kuro and it looked great. ive had every 2k game for the past 9 years already. live isnt allowed in my household.

Looks like we are all going to have a fun winter sitting home this year playing all these great new games coming out, COD WAR, 2K9, NBA Live (if u dare), Gears or War, Tiger 09, Madden 09, wow, and a new Blu-ray player for Xbox 360 for 100- 150 bucks.

It will happen forever and there is nothing anyone can do about it. There are maybe a little under 10% of 360 owners that pirate games unlike PC gamers which is up in the higher 40-60%. So yes I agree its wrong in some way but so is burning a cd and a dvd but that goes on every day all over the world. So the people that want to buy games do so and the ones that get there pirate on keep pushing. Heres some pics of my updated setups.

Yea im in Columbus and no I did not make that screen myself. It was part of me bundle I purchased from ProjectionDiscount.com. They are kinda slow because its a mom and pop owned business but their prices are great.

Technically other people brought up how he got them - he always just posted the screens by themselves.

It's pretty awesome. It's dark and the sounds are creepy, you'll go nuts if you have a surround system. You can hear the creatures crawling in the vents above you, jumping front of you or just simply playing dead till you get to them. I'm not gonna lie, i jumped a few times already and probably said Holy s*** more times than ever before.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread, or if i's already been asked...but are any of you playing on a Samsung LCD (namely a series 6/7/8)? I ask because I'm scheduled to have one of these (the LN52A850) delivered on Monday, but have recently been reading talk of the Samsungs not being good for games due to lag issues. This has me a little concerned so I'm wondering if I should get a refund before the TV gets delivered....

That's the armor part on the suit. As you level up you get more and more metal pieces on the suit which boost your defense. This game is all sorts of awesome!

Since the Benq W500 vents out the front, there is little to zero chance that the PJ is going to harm the Xbox.

Of far greater importance is a cheap console puking out searing heat into the air intakes of the much more expensive PJ. :(

Recommend moving the 360 under the PS3, as only one console is going to be on at a time, thus reducing the hot air intake risk factor.*

*Obviously, the best solution would be to throw down $5-$10 for a shelf/riser at Home Depot. :)

There is the reason why, VGA is the only mode on Samsung LCDs that are, in general, lag free. Try HDMI or Component and you might start to notice lag if you are sensitive to this stuff.

I think it isn't so much that there isn't any lag, but moreso that latency varies from person to person.

So tomorrow is when I say goodbye to my Sammy 4071F. Had to get rid of it to help pay for my upcoming Samsung 67" LED DLP (HL67a750). I'm gonna miss my lil 40". It did wonders for me. Even now, I feel like the new TV isn't gonna be as impressive PQ-wise as my 4071. It's all about the size, so I'm willing to sacrifice a little pq.

Even now, I feel like the new TV isn't gonna be as impressive PQ-wise as my 4071. It's all about the size, so I'm willing to sacrifice a little pq.

Yeah, Far Cry 2 is incredible, I friggin love fire!! Fire at night is even more impressive! You can actually see the embers flying over the fire.

MC 2 looks pretty good, Ive never played that game though, Is it really arcadey?? or is it pretty realistic?

Where is it going? Who is the new one shipping through? I've always wondered about safety of the set ordering off the internet...

I put my 4071F up on craigslist, and had like 10 people offering to buy it within the first few hours of putting it up. I practically gave it away at $850. The person who I'm selling it to is coming by to pick it up today.

I bought my 67" on Amazon. They're the ones who shipped the 4071F back when I first bought it and had no issues whatsoever. I trust them with shipping. The shipping company is CEVA. I had EGL last time.

I'll let you guys know all about it as soon as I get it. They shipped it Friday, so I expect it sometime at the end of this week. I'll be watching/playing with my Samsung 2353h (23" 720p lcd) until it arrives. :(

Actually......I jumped from the 360 to PS3 a year ago and ended up selling my 360. After finally coming to the acceptance that there's only one thing the PS3 does really good and that is BR, I was waiting to jump back to the 360. The Dell deal sealed 'my 360 awakening'!

The only game I've played on it so far is GoW and only for 2 hours....my Arcade is in fact less than 4 hours old right now :-). I guess it will take me some time to rack my MS points all over again.

I've been wondering this as well. However, I think that one would have to argue that in an area that has experienced nuclear fallout, there wouldn't be much color. Perhaps later on in the game you find some areas with patches of color or what-not.

PQ is AWESOME. After calibration, the TV puts out an amazing picture. I just have to get used to it's narrow viewing angles (particularly eye level).

The 360 works today for some reason, so I got one game in enough to take one pic, lol.

Pics aren't perfect, so so pq isn't exactly as what you see there. It looks more natural IRL.

PioManaic, you could have saved your GamerTag if you got the Hard drive Transfer Kit which is available from Game Stop for like $10 or Xbox.com for free, that is what I did and I got to save my Gamertag. Oh well. :mad: :p

my friend it has nothing to do with a small lil HD DVD player on top that is place in the middle where there are no vent holes and which has not been used since Superman III came out on HD. 360 vent holes are places on the sides not the middle. :rolleyes:

Oh and I also did the 2 towel trick, where you wrap 2 towels around the console, take the hard drive out, disconnect the HDMI cable and let it run for 15 mins, turn it off, let cool down for an 90 mins and wala, no more 3RROD. I did that like 4 times which helped me get an extra month use out of it. I can't believed it actually worked.

Lmao, i know right, people dont understand 360's burn out no matter what. Unless of course you put it in the back of the cabinet with 5 towels over it and run it for 10 hours. If you are running multiple speakers per channel how are you adjusting for the Ohm load difference via wiring and how do your amps handle the load ? Are you dropping the load for more output or increasing for less strain on the amp ? Just curious how you are running so many speakers effectively ( maybe they are not all connected ... ? ) . Seems like it would be an imaging nightmare to get all those speakers lined up properly if you are indeed using all of them ;) . Nice setup by the way , welcome to the wonderful world of front projection :D .

Mission doesn't make a "Good" M3i series Center speaker to match my M34i Towers,
So I bought a couple M32i's (Same size driver/tweeter as the Towers, just a smaller cabinet)
They were slightly used demo's I got real cheap! Now my front L/C/R are all Timbre matched.

But the Yammy's have a feature called Dialogue Lift that helps raise the vocals to center screen

It sure does,

However, you do have to give up your Back Surrounds to turn the Front Presence speakers on ;)
.. so I only use it for Movies with lots of dialogue or Concert/Music performances where extra rear crowd noise is less important than an enhanced front stage.

For Action Flicks and Gaming I prefer to have the Back Surrounds on.
For 7.1 encoded material in lossless format (PCM/DTS-MA/DD THD )you can only have Back Surrounds.
For 5.1 encoded source material you can have Front Presence or Back Surround using PLIIx.

Hmmm I might just have to hook up an extra pair of speakers to see what it can do.

Thanks, Jason. My component connection is kinda crappy so I'll take some screens when I get my 5BNC adapter from Monoprice so I can use VGA. I was trying Bioshock last night and with the much better contrast ratios versus my old 720p Optoma HD72, everything looked almost real. It looked kind of cartoony before and not as sharp (obviously). :)

cedclark, you may have just sold me on getting a Samsung. Fantastic shots, man.

On the other hand...

M-Desantos, do you notice any green phosphor lag/flashes/trails on your Panasonic? I briefly owned a Sammy 550 Plasma earlier this year and had to return it due to the phosphor problem. It also had a noisy image with excessive dithering. I would still consider a plasma if I could find a set where those problems were minimized or non-existent. The 80u is a nice looking set, my parents just got one for their bedroom. Hmmm, may need to head over to their place one of these weekends for some testing.

Still gaming in a tiny rectangle on my 36" 1080i 4:3 flat screen CRT and drooling over the shots you guys are posting...

i just got a sony KDL-52W4100 the other day and its amazing. i can never get my camera to take really good pictures though. they always end up either too dark or with a blue tint to them.

Dude, don't tell them you got an E74. Only the 3 red rings is covered by the 3 year warranty. Just tell them you got a 3 red ring and ship it back. They'll send you a different console entirely once yours arrives.

In fact you can submit a repair form xbox.com now and don't even have to talk to anyone.

My first 360 died less than one month after purchase. My 3rd 360 died about 2 weeks ago which has lasted me the longest. That is 3 360's in a total of 1 year 11 months.

I don't know if I will be buying any gaming consoles from microsoft again. When the next gen consoles come out I will wait at least a year to see how they hold up.

It is rediculous how much they fail, and they keep sending out repaired/replaced ones that are doomed to fail again and again.

My first 360 died from E 74 and now early in the week my MS refurb 360(2nd) got it, but I turned it off then back on and its been fine so far.

I traded my 3rd 360 (2 RRODs) into Gamestop for $120 and got a new Jasper arcade unit. I hope it lasts.

I shouldn't jinx myself, but I'm still on my first (launch) one. No problems yet.

I have a launch unit... RROD'd on me last week for the second time... Now it's in Mesquite Texas at the repair center... Had 1 month to go on its 3 year warranty.

Those Fable 2 shots look really dark compared to what I'm used to, granted I'm using a projector.

I still think overall Fable 2 is one of the best looking 360 games. Maybe not from a tecnical stand point. If you look most of the textures are rubbish. But if you just sit back and play it looks great.

I bought my 360 in May of 2006 and still have it and have not had 1 problem at all and still going strong.:) Looks like I beat the guy who heard of a guy that new a guy who had one that lasted 1.5 years.

Here's what I'm playing my games on, sorry for the crappy photos but I've just got my camera phone so they won't be too great. I'm ok with having a 58" in my bedroom, some people might call me crazy but it fits quite nicely IMHO.

I have a 52in in my room right now. its funny I feel like what ever size you have whether big or small yours eyes seem to get used to it.

Well I'm glad I'm not alone there, I didn't think I was. I used to use my 40" sony as both my computer monitor and game tv in my room, that was something with Crysis and World in Conflict! Also my little brother has an FP in his "living place", it's his room but it's also a converted garage that hasn't ever been a garage for us. So I can certainly see 100"+ being normal as well.

It's the "Red Ring of Death", as the ring around the power button turns red. Why people starting referring to the individual lights as "rings" I have no idea.

But I always see it as the RRoD outside of AVS, so maybe it's just a phenomenon here. ;)

I think the pics of pics are a little misleading in this thread. There isnt a camera i have seen that can accurately reproduce what is actually put on the screen in capture. All i see is overblown colors and deeper blacks than what the sets can actually reproduce. You can tell by the overcrushed black detail in the screenshots through the whole thread. Ive seen the new sammy lcd 120hz sets and they do not look like that. Lol. There isnt a tv in the world that reproduces blacks like that. The kuro comes close. Just wanted to throw this out there before someone goes running out and buying a set thinking that this is the way it will look when they get it home. I guess that pretty much negates the point of this thread, but this thread is pretty pointless and misleading in the first place isnt it?

you can't really count on screenshots looking much like the real game on your specific setup. Although I find in general I like to look at them because you can get a general idea of graphic details and lighting/shadowing, even if it's not going to be exactly what it looks like in real life.
