nobody has any panny plasma shots?

I went through the entire thread hoping to see a 42" panny somewhere but it seems everyone has Sony's, Samsungs, Olevia's, Sharps, westinghouse etc. There's like 2-4 panny's in the entire thread. interesting.

Also, the one other thing i've noticed is that the 360 doesn't fit ANYWHERE. It doesn't look right inside a unit vertical or horizontal, or beside a tv/unit. I wish they make a proper stereo standard type case for a console for once.

I cannot wait to get home today so I can finally post some pics of my new tv. The surround system is still low quality but I finally got my first hdtv!!

Nope , that would be the HD trailer for Dead Man's Chest via the 360 (just a guess considering there is no DVD release of it just yet) .

I forgot to mention that this plasma is not calibrated yet. Straight out of the box, 3 hours old. And the pictures were taken with my shakey hands.

Ya thats the svs pb12+2,it really rocks the house,adds alot to xbox games since there in surround sound.The vette in the Test drive Unlimited game really rumbles like the real thing.I couldnt even imagine my system without it now!!

Nothing like having a HUGE sub ( and corner loaded too :D ) , my 15" CV can break windows with only 300 watts ;) . One of our local AVS guys has a 1500 watt 15" Servo reference with full floating floor and OMG , I thought the chairs had 150 watt buttkickers going , it was INTENSE !

I just bought a shiny new piano black Samsung s4253 plasma HDTV and hooked up my 360 via VGA. The TV is amazing, HD broadcasts look jaw-dropping good.

But I'm not happy with the 360 hooked up via VGA compared to component.

I also have a Mitsu 55" RPTV and the 360 hooked to it via component. The component connection looks much better IMO. I actually plan to take back the VGA cable. But anyway, here is a pic I snapped of the new plasma and Madden '07 -

AV Rack is made by Bang and Olufson. Its constructed out of Rubber and brushed aluminum. The coolest part about it is the fluid motion of the doors when they shut. Since its made by B&O you can only get it at authorized B&O delears or exclusize B&O shops. The link below shows it online (small picture) and there is info on the site to find dealers near you. I paid $1600 CDN for it.

Thanks. Its kinda of funny, and not deliberate but I found out that my Sub and my Rotel RMB 1077 amp both use ICE Power made by B&O. Technology matches the maker of the rack..by fluke.

For anyone interested the new fall update came out today enabling 1080p for the 360

This shots were taken at 1080i via component. By the way I tried today 1080p via component and experience some glitches, pherhaps the component cables struggles with this kind of bandwith. Will get VGA cables tomorrow.

Sofa and coffee table is from local brand (nice look and not too expensive)

I live in Bangkok, Thailand. There are so many furniture makers (most are exporter) so you can get custom-made furniture and built-in relatively cheap here.

Here are some pictures of my setup. As I do not have a basement in my home I set up a home theater in my family room. I have a 61 inch Mitsubishi DLP that I use during the day time, however when it gets dark outside I pull down a 96 inch screen in front of the Mitsubishi and fire up the Optoma HD70. I find that I can get a decent picture from the projector even with some ambient light. I have blinds on all the windows so it does shut out most of the light. For the pictures of the set up, I left the blinds open so you can see it easier. I run both a component switcher (Video Storm CSM42 – 4 in and 2 out) and a HDMI switcher (Octava HDS32 - 3 in and 2 out). This allows me to switch on the fly from the Mitsubishi rear projection to the Optoma front projection and all the various sources (Comcast HD Cable, Toshiba HD DVD Player, X-Box 360 and the regular X-Box). I have my Harmony 880 setup so I never need to do any manual switching for both displays just hit where I want to go and it fires up the correct system. Playing the 360 on the big screen is awesome as is watching HD DVDs on the Toshiba HD-A1. I really am happy with my setup and will post some screen shots of the 360 and some HD DVDs in action when I get a chance.

Thanks, I really like the Optoma HD70. I moved from an Optoma H31 to the HD70 and the difference with high def sources is very noticeable. I don't think I could go back to a standard def projector. Last night my wife and I were playing Lumines and Bankshot Billiards on the projector and it was lots of fun.

Contrast looks surprisingly good in these pics. The Sony 3 LCD TVs are quite a nice value.

Just get rid of the SSE and the SDE and improve the blacks and you have a real winner.

I'm going to cosign what everyone is saying about the Pioneer headphones, really great cans, I had to get them because the girlfriend (ex now) was complaining about not being able to sleep. I got them for $299.99 at J&R in NYC, so they can be found for cheaper than $399 definately.

The wireless mouse and keyboard is from a company called Gyration. I chose this particular set because the optical mouse can also be used IN THE AIR! (it's called an Optical Air Mouse) Sort of like a pointer. And it's very precise. I got the combo for $99. Here's the site -

I'm playing on the default color settings w/the in-game brightness bumped up a notch or two.

It's not dark at all. It's not like Doom 3. It's more like the original FarCry for PC (in terms of darkness). Some maps are dark and gloomy and others are bright.

Yea... I've been playing GOW on my HD70 for about 3 days now... man this is a visually stunning game. I use the VGA input on the PJ. I will post a few pics up as well.

I have those Pioneer headphones and they're awesome! They actually sound like a 5.1 home theatre system. They have 1 digital optical, 1 digital coaxial, and 1 analog stereo input.

I just ordered these headphones and received them tonight. They are UNBELIEVABLE. I have a decent 5.1 set-up, but living in a townhouse doesn't let me enjoy the audio on games like GoW and CoD3. As soon as I booted up my 360, the headphones immersed me in unbelievable crisp surround audio. I would definately recommend them. I found them for $299+shipping online. After 5 hrs of gaming tonight, I think they were definately worth the investment. :D

My god what a great, addicting game. Played co-op with a friend over Live the last two night in a row. 5 - 6 hours straight both nights. I went to bed at 5:30 this morning. Thank God it's Saturday today....

Here are a couple quick shots I took from the Optoma HD70. They are not taken with the best camera, so I hope it does the HD70 some justice. I did not stop or pause the projector when I took the pictures, so any bluriness is from movement on screen when I took them. The real life picture is better.

I'm not sure what the deal is. It doesn't seem that blue when playing it, but when comparing the pics I took of GoW on my plasma, compared to pics I took on my Mitsu CRT, there's quite a difference. I have an extended warranty that I might use to get a free professional calibration.

I have asked about this service and they told me no. Maybe they do now since they have Magnolia Hi-Fi do all there installs. I guess I will give another call, do they do a ISF certified calibration here or is just some guy with an eye for color lol.

hehe I would call every six months with "Man there is something wrong with my set, I see red bleeding something awful". They would send out Lake Electronics and the guy who spend 3 hours cleaning and tuning my set! He actually opened the RPTV and cleaned everything inside!

That vertical band is a shadow from the front left sconce (the front left speaker column is casting the shadow).

I never watch anything with the sconces on, so it's not a problem.

I thought that might be it... or something with the camera.

So I burned the INHD convergence and calibration patterns to a HD-DVD and adjusted vert size until the circles had equal width and height.

1080P from the x360 is being received differently than 1080P from my lumagen video processor and htpc. I'm still working on some funky overscan limitations at 1080P from the VGA cable:

Setup is a Sony 50" KDF50E2000, Xbox 360, and Tivo Series 3 connected via HDMI. Accessories include our Burlesque lady side table, vintage Mobil Gas sign, and Ikea Oppli TV stand. Sorry for the horrible photography. A bad camera and badly placed overhead lighting don't make for a good picture.

My setup is as follows

- XBOX 360
- HD70 @ 720p via VGA
- 92" GWII Screen
- SA 8300HD DVR
- Many other components...

Anyway, you need to use a tripod. Turn the flash off on your cam. Bring the ambient light in the room to a minimum and bring down the EV Compensation or other light controlling setting on your cam down a few notches. Find a good scene u want to capture and Pause it... be sure it's a scene with decent brightness. Also, use the timer function on the shutter to take the photo. Pressing the shutter button introduces some movement.... so if you use the timer, u will have no movement when the photo is taken. Most cams have like a 10-sec timer or whatever....

I'm no expert and I'm still practicing to take better photos... but these should help you take decent pics. Pretty soon I'm gonna paint my walls gray... then it's ALL OVER!

SOWK - I too prefer the black stand over the white one. It breaks up the monotony of white wall, white stand, plus light colored carpet. I think I would go sans bamboo drapes. I also prefer the two black square end cabinets to what looks like black upholstered ones.

^^^ How much was that screen and where can I get one?

Real men wear pink haha. The game is Ridge Racer for the 360. I have the this nice gray paint sitting in my closest. Just means id have to stop playing gears of war. And thats not happening.

P.S: What type of image setting are you using in GOW?....Default, brillant...?

If I remember correctly it was the Default image setting in GoW.

I checked out the stand on Ikea and noticed it comes unfinished. Did you stain or oil treat yours yourself? What kind of finish and what color? Thanks. :)

I did not stain it. It is just the birch color it came in. It is a little dark because it used to sit in a window that got a lot of direct sunlight. There is even an outline of the 27" TV I had sitting on it.

I dont understand how come your guy pictures of your games on your tv looks so much more realistic than mine. I have a new samsung 42 inch flat panel LCD Tv and for some reason your guys (non projector guys) look way better than mine.

I tweaked my tv thru the service manual and settings to get the best picture i can get... took me a long time :D

Explain?First off, whose to say a projector can't look as good as a TV?

What is the model of your LCD? If it's an old one that might be the problem.

You should also make sure your 360 is set to output 1080i/720p and that the little switch on the 360's component cable is set to HD, not SD. You do have the component cable, right?

You should just try screwing with the TV's picture settings til the picture looks good to you.

I didnt say projector wasnt fine, but since i have an LCD i wasnt concerned with how projectors look as setting up the image for htem would probably be drastically different than setting it up for LCD. I dont know how to do anything iwth the image other than change thebrightness and contrast maybe im a newbie i dont know.

I tried to get one of those Westy's for my 10 yr. old son on black Friday but they sold out within less than an hour around here , I was bummed as it was to be his X-mas present . Looks like it a has a nice image with the 360 ;) .

I don't think it accepts 1080p, but I'm not sure (I'm not really a tech guy). The max resolution is 1680 x 1050. There were several units lying around when I went to BB. I waited about an hour after the store opened since there was a huge line, but most people weren't concerned about getting an HDTV. :) It did sell out whenever I left though.

Oh yeah, I think that's because the monitor has an aspect ratio of 16:10. It doesn't bother me much though, and I don't really want to use $40.00 on the VGA cable.

You can probably pick up a used MS VGA cable for $9.99 from Gamestop or EB and my guess is that it would be a better image vs. component on that particular monitor ;) . It might even fix the overscan issue ... ?

Lucky for you , that monitor was a steal at $199 ( have fun with it :D ) .

How far behind the screen is your center channel? I can not find a stand to fit my center channel on and I am going to either mount it on a shelf behind the tv or use the Omni unit on the tv.

Yes the 42A10 rocks, I'm on my 6th month with mine no problems ever so far and it's rocking and rolling.
