teckademic 11-24-05, 01:33 PM So lets see them and state what tv you are using? I figure this would be good so that we don't keep getting threads like "whats the best tv for the 360" or "how does the 360 look on (blank) set"

celluloideyes 11-24-05, 03:26 PM Everyone here has an awesome tv AND a 360--let's see 'em.
(Everyone with the awesome tv and 360 must be playing right now--this explains the lack of posts or because it's Thanksgiving and everyone is forced to put down their controllers to spend time with their families)
What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?
MPresseau 11-24-05, 03:41 PM What exactly are you trying to accomplish here?
When it comes to posts asking for screenshots why do we always get at least one response like the above? Geez, if you're against screenshots, just ignore the thread, move on, have a nice day, etc... But, what are you trying to accomplish, JDKav, with your post?
I think screenshots are cool, not very useful, but cool. Bring a smile to my face, they do.
I don't have my 360 yet, but I'd love to see some screenshots.

Yea, it's rear-projection LCD. I love the set.
I got shafted on the 360 too, but had a few friendly talks with the manager over the week before launch and paid for the 360 in full before launch for "whenever it comes in". On launch day they got an extra core system rang me up. :)

Thanks, they work great, no lag. Its truely incredible how well given the equipment closet doesn't even share a wall with the room. I used to have spotty quality with my orig xbox and the logitech wireless controllers. The 360 wireless has been flawless.

Stang - I'd watch the heat levels with all of that equipment jammed in there. Just the A/V receiver alone is a huge red flag. Normally the top of them is completely vented, and typically the manual says not to put anyting on top of them (looks like a cable box on there?) And then the 360 is in a vertical alignment with no clearance on either side or the top, and probably a ton of cables going behind it. I'd look for an alternate location for your 360, or invest in a A/V tower to get better seperation on your equipment. You normally never want to stack stuff directly on each other, there should at least be a shelf between components to allow for flow on all 4 sides.

Thanks for the heads up jon.
I actually think that the 360 has really good ventillation where it is. Since there is no exhaust grill on either of the components to each side of it, and since it has about 2 inches of clearance on each side, I feel like it's getting plenty of cool air.
As for stacking the other components right on top of each other, I completely agree :( , but I have yet to find a solution that appeases both myself and my wife....heck, getting an HDTV in the first place that wouldn't fit into a cabinet was an enormous step. I'm definatly going to replace it when I find the right piece. But until then, I'll look into seperating the components somehow. Thanks :) .
but I have yet to find a solution that appeases both myself and my wife....
I hear ya. The wife approval factor is a big one. Another piece of A/V furniture can sometimes set them off. ;)
As for the 360, with it's fans venting through the back, I think the flow of fresh air is coming in from the sides (which make it more difficult to get air when it's in the vertical position, since the preferations are on the top and bottom with that configuration). I was just thinking of the radiant heat (not exhaust heat) from that A/V receiver, those things get pretty hot (especially with something sitting on top of it) and could warm some of the air trying to enter and cool your 360.

I really couldn't be any happier with it. The DILA hdtv's are known to be VERY bright/saturated displays...so as far as gaming on it goes, I think that you'd be very hard pressed to find a much better looking display. And while rich, bright colors might not be preferable for all your movie watching, imho games just look better like this. Everything seems alive and bright. It also has much better black levels than an LCD (though not quite like a DLP--however with those you'll still lack the brightness) so I can retain alot of my darker details while still displaying the rich colors. Of course there are different color settings on the TV to switch between Theatre, Standard, Dynamic, and Gaming so you can customize your viewing.
So basically I'm very very happy with it. :)
briankmonkey 12-07-05, 03:42 PM sweet, thanks for the impressions! The 61" JVC is my number one choice right now.. I'm hoping to get the black as well, but they only had a silver on display.

For the longest time i had them hooked up to a rotel RB-970BX amp connected to the variable output of a h/k TL-5300 (i think thats the model, it was a top loading 5 disc changer). then they sat on my computer for awhile connected thru a gemini pmx-2001 pre/mixer to multiple sound cards (anything from a sb live to an emu 0404).
Now they're on my TV through a h/k AVR135. Sounds alright for movies, haven't had a chance to listen to any music yet to see how it does. picked it up a week ago w/ my tv.

Gunstar, are you going through VGA or component?
I am, it looks awesome!
celluloideyes 12-21-05, 09:04 PM D--
I am "this" close to getting the Sony. Are you noticing any lag (I know you have the other thread open...)?
I was going to get the Panny 42PX50U, but this Sony has really won me over--it's more money, but it seems to be worth it.
Can you talk about your gaming experiences using the Sony? I'd really appreciate it. I know there are threads dedicated to that set, but I just want to know all about gaming on it.
Do you play xbox, ps2, gamecube? How do they all look. I want to play Shadow of the Colossus the set. I'd appreciate all the gaming feedback you can provide!! THANKS
Goldfingiz 12-21-05, 10:21 PM OK either you guys are taking deceiving pictures or you can do magic, because your PGR screens don't show any aliasing and I get jagged edges on both of my TVs (46" DLP and 27" LCD). Other people are saying PGR has a lot of jaggies too but in a lot of these screens i'm seeing smooth images. What gives?

Geeesh, I would hope a next gen system with a HDTV would have NO jaggies at all. Anything less and I'd be upset.

Looks like a photo from the "Garage", which lets you walk around (move around) in real time with full 3D.

Then I must be doing something wrong because PGR looks aliased on both my 46HM95 (46" Toshiba DLP) and 27" ViewSonic N2750W, both at 720P.
Goldfingiz 12-23-05, 04:32 PM You guys must be taking all the PGR3 screens in photo mode. That gets rid of the jagges ;)

maverick0716 12-24-05, 11:40 PM I have the same TV as you Gunstar77.......it rocks! You should take off the sticker on the lower right hand side of the TV though....it looks better. Don't worry about it leaving a white sticker mark, they're designed not to.

I currently own a Sony 42" KF-42WE610...back in the States...
Now Im in Japan for 2 years and I got me a 26" KDL-S26A10...
I got pictures attached...Im not realy big into surround sounds and everything...picture is what matter most to me so that explains why I just always have my setup hookup to a stereo...
well hopefully the XBOX360 will be added to the setup I have on the picture...and when I get back to the states...upgrade to a SXRD or a BRAVIA...

Any issues with that tv mcklein? At that price that tv looks absolutely amazing. Is it lacking elsewhere (inputs/menu items/etc)? I see advertised for around $1200-1600, which is pretty low, which scares me.
How'd you guys put those pics on there? On your XBOX dashboard, I mean.

Hey McKlein.. have you ever tried to remove the skin after applying it? How easy is it, and if so does it leave any tell tale signs on the console making it obvious that the exterior surface has been played with?
I am just worried that these skins - as cool as they look - might leave marks on the console case when they are removed, and this might be a problem if God forbid I have to return the console for warranty repairs or for replacement..
Mcklein 12-27-05, 02:04 PM ^^^Oh no I havent try that, I guess ill see if the console needs repair....

If you are using the HD Component cable there is a small switch where the cable plugs in to the system. Make sure it's set to HD. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause jaggies.

When I first got my 360 I did that and then accidentally switched it back to sdtv when I plugged the cord into the 360. It's always a good idea to check the switch if you're not happy with the picture.

It wouldnt be HOT without Paris Hilton backrounds.
I hope you're joking.
Exactly what is appealing about Paris?
The annoying voice or speech patterns.
Feeblemindedness.
The flat chest.
The complete lack of humility or grace.
Inability to act.
etc., etc.
I think any one of us can think of even a dozen more things about her that make her simply revolting.
Jasman
HeadRusch 01-02-06, 08:52 PM I hope you're joking.
Yeah, I second that. I have a theory that the men that find Paris Hilton hot are guys who are closet homosexuals, she looks alot more like a teenage boy than a girl ;)
No chest, no hips, her legs are skinnier than a Nigerian long distance runner, the only thing that gives away the fact that she's not a male is her penchant for flashing her camel-toe to the photographers once a week. :P
As for the utter lack of manners, poise, or class.......blame her parents.
She, along with Mariah Carey, should be on a poster that reads "Parents, if you daughters turn out like this, you have FAILED AT YOUR JOB".
:)
Now, how can I put a custom wallpaper on my xbox 360 again?? Do I need that Media connect and an XP computer to do this!??!?
Mcklein 01-02-06, 09:03 PM ^^^yes you need media connect turn on and make sure that you have selected the files where you have your pictures, then go to media blade click pictures then select the folder , go thru the picture you want and then hit "x" to apply to background.

I have a 2WIRE 1800 Home Gateway. It has 4 ethernet ports and wireless connectivity. I ran 40 feet of cable to my office, and connected the 360 to one of the ethernet ports.
Then I downloaded Windows Media Connect from www.xbox.com/pcsetup It was really hard for me, for some reason. It was a long process for me. But basically install this program, open your firewall, so the 360 can get through. Then go to you 360/Media/Music then it will ask you if you've installed Media Connect. Say yes, and the 360 will try to connect to your PC. Good luck it took me about 13 tries. The ports I was told to open up was as follows:
Port/Name/Protocol
2869/Upnp Framework/TCP
1900/Upnp Framework/UDP
10284/Windows Media Connect/UDP

sgibson 01-09-06, 05:04 PM Kameleon Remote. jpg Hey DaBigKahuna,
I see you have lots of remote controls. I have the same problem.
Hi all,
This solved my remote(s) problem:Kameleon "All-In-One" Remote.
Kenwood VR-7070 Reciever
Pioneer DVD player
Panasonic 51" RP HDTV
Directv HR10-250 HD DVR
Infocus SP4805 FP
Nice feature is you can upgrade (add) new equip codes transmitted via a land line phone connection to the Kameleon Remote. Glow in the dark display makes it a cinch to use (and find).
Some folks complain about low battery life, but no problem here.
The display is sensitive and will light up on high bass levels and occasional bumps, but again not a problem for me. Got it online at Amazon.com last year.
Went from 5 remotes to two. (Still prefer to use with the Infocus Remote)

sgibson
Hehe, yeah but at least Mariah has some nice j*gs. :)
FrankJ.Cone 01-10-06, 07:24 AM Hehe, yeah but at least Mariah has some nice j*gs. :)
The surgeon did a fine job. Not even those could save Paris *shudder*
govschmo 01-10-06, 08:24 AM ^^^yes you need media connect turn on and make sure that you have selected the files where you have your pictures, then go to media blade click pictures then select the folder , go thru the picture you want and then hit "x" to apply to background.
I was able to get them off a thumb drive, same method in folder hit x on picture.

HeadRusch 01-12-06, 11:48 PM I've been pretty pleased with my 360 at 1080i on my 65" CRT set. I know the image would probably look a little bit better with a digital display, but its not bad or a problem by any stretch of the imagination.
However I think this weekend, if I have the time, I'm going to try to hook the 360 up to my 480p projector instead, if anything just to do a little comparision and see how things look.
celluloideyes 01-12-06, 11:55 PM Marco--awesome pics. Quick questions--
I'm looking at getting this set. Is it amazing for gaming? How is television (SD, HD, dvds)? I'd like to hear your opinion. Can you post some more 360 pics of other games? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
All the info you can share with your experiences with this set would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I'll try to post some more pics over the weekend. I've only used my PS2 and Xbox360 over component on this TV set. I haven't hooked up my Gamecube, original Xbox, or any other console to see what they look like. Basically, my impressions are the higher resolution and higher bitrate material looks WAY better on this set. DVD's look pretty good, definitely better than SDTV which is just bearable. HDTV (I have all digital Motorola DCT3412 from Comcast) looks very good. The thing that looks the best is D-VHS DTheater tapes, so when HD-DVD or Blu-Ray comes along they will look awesome on this set. So, long story short, the lower the resolution and bitrate coming into the set, the worse it looks...
celluloideyes 01-13-06, 09:51 AM Thanks Marco. Pictures would be great. I am really looking forward to this set. How far is your viewing distance?
Marco99 01-13-06, 11:00 AM Thanks Marco. Pictures would be great. I am really looking forward to this set. How far is your viewing distance?
I am only about 10 feet away, give or take a foot depending on where and how I am sitting. I previously had a 46" Sony TV and it took me a few days to adjust to the change. But now, I think it's great! Besides, I don't believe all of this stuff about the exact distance a person should sit, it is subjective for a LOT of people. Unless of course the manufacturer has designed the optics of a system for a specific application and the product looks awful under any other conditions...

Syntax max a great television.
How and where did you get the LT26HVX for less than 500?
spinksjinx 01-14-06, 11:55 AM A lot of shops supposedly dropped the Syntax model down quite a bit for a short while. But have since priced them at the regular one, I assume to make room for the next model.
..Someone posted a short while back they got one for 50% off...Seems unlikely but they do seem to be going on sale..
HeadRusch 01-14-06, 12:01 PM I've seen the Westinghouse 32" 720p set normally at 1299, drop down to as low as $899, and then back up....then down to $1099....they're all over the place.
This is probably in preparation for the new lines that have ATSC tuners built in.

Love my 37" syntax with the 360...and the price at target.com, with the 10% code, was close to what those are paying for the 32" syntax at other online stores. I paid less for my 37" syntax LCD than I did for my 31" Sony analog TV 10 years ago...now that is progress!
Search target.com for "syntax"...

Sounds like a pretty good deal. I picked up a Kolin Syntax and opted out of the Olevia...I didnt really care for the black case as the Kolin has black and silver which is a pretty decent looking set. I paid 300 shy of a grand for it and it was the best deal out their...I picked up the 32" by the way and have no complaints...In fact my parents are considering purchasing a Syntax for their living room they were very pleased with what I got....I think they are onto something.
I also picked this set up because of the outstanding warranty. It came with 1 year parts and in-home labor as a standard warranty...Good stuff, I have no complaints and wont either with this kind of warranty even if anything went wrong. I also contacted them several times and customer service is great.
curtis104 01-14-06, 09:49 PM Here are some pics. My PowerShot A80 does not really do actual footage no justice. These shots are projected on a 92" BOC screen from an Infocus 4805 projector:

celluloideyes 01-14-06, 11:01 PM Thanks Marco--I LOVE that tv. Just found a new house today. Will 'hopefully' move in Feb. 1st, which means I can upgrade to either the 50" or 60". Might have to be the 50", though...oh well :)

Marco99, I noticed that in your last set of pics.. Is that some sort or add-on to the TV to have speakers as well? Cause you can see the wall paper on the right in between the TV and speakers..
Spiff69 01-15-06, 02:35 AM Man, I wanted to post some pics back in December and am just now getting to it. It's great to see people's setups - keep em coming. I couldn't quite get the color right in these pics, but they turned out ok, I guess.
I'm thinking of getting a silver or black skin to cover up the top of the unit but am undecided. I'm not a big fan of the virgin white.
I do love the box, tho. Lots and lots of fun :p
Mcklein 01-15-06, 02:59 AM I agreee nice to see the different monitors and setups..its good to see everyone is having fun.

Heh, guess you haven't been in the SXRD forums, eh? They are called "dumbo ears" or "wings." It's Sony's cabinet design for these sets and a LOT of people HATE them. I am not crazy about the amount of space they take up (including the empty space they waste which you noticed), but I can live with them. They actually sound rather good, and I, unlike some other people, don't just want a monitor. I can appreciate that it has good sound for normal TV viewing. Not everything justifies turning on my surround sound receiver and consuming many 100's of watts of electricity... ;)

Here's my setup....just got the 360 Friday. It rocks! Not the best pictures, should have used a tripod. And the lighting isn't the best with 500 watts of reef aquarium lighting next to the entertainment center.

The surround system is a cheapo HTIB...audio is definitely my next upgrade.
HeadRusch 01-17-06, 09:48 AM THe light streaming in from behind the TV with the closed shade really makes that in-car shot of driving the Enzo look awesome :)
What display is that..what size, I mean...
I hadn't really noticed that...the intensity of the light from the aquarium matches the intensity of the background in PGR. It is pretty cool. The display is a 42" plasma (LG 42PX5D).
