I just finished Condemned a few days ago... it still has me returning to it "just for kicks". I also started Perfect Dark Zero the other night.

Playing it at the "Perfect Agent" difficulty might be my downfall. I'm finding it quite challenging and I'm looking at many checkpoint restarts. :o

What Xbox games are you playing at the moment?

I'm addicted to Hexic and spend waaay too much time playing that.

On COD2 I made it to the start of the last mission last night and then called it a night. That's Gameranged, and when I return that I've got King Kong coming next.

I'm also playing PD0, but forget how far I am. I either JUST rescued Jack from the old Chinese guy's fortress, or I'm still working my way through the complex towards him.

I started Quake 4, but lost ALL my game saves when I entered my Gamercard for Live (I'd set up my 360 with a profile that had the same name as my Gamercard, and my fresh Gamercard overwrote that profile) and I haven't gone back to this game since then.

PGR3. Lots of it. Tons of PGR3. Specifically, PGR3 online in ranked races. Did I mention I play an unhealthy dose of PGR3 online?

PGR3 90% of the time, with breaks for PD0. When I finish PGR I will focus on PD0. I am on lvl 7 now and not sure how far that is into the game really. Oh and I am playing Geometry Wars, and CRUSHING Islanti's high score! (Only AVS player on my friends list playing GW)

I just signed up for the game renting service and put Condemed in so I should be playing that soon.

PD0, COD2, and Condemned. I'm not getting too far in any one game because I keep switching up between the three. Plus, online multiplayer takes a lot of my in-game time away. I've also surprisingly been into Hexic HD. I've tried the trial version of Joust, Gauntlet, and Geometry Wars for old time's sake.

I'm waiting for GR3 or for COD2 to get patched - then I'll really be happy.

I see how it is! I'd like to point out our relative GamerScores...
FCone's GamerScore (http://live.xbox.com/en-US/profile/profile.aspx?pp=0&GamerTag=fcone) :D

Now that's out of the way... I mostly finished Gun. I don't think I'll be getting the remaining achievements. I'm playing CoD on Veteran, trying to get more GamerScore. I'm also playing around with the achievements on the various Arcade games. I'm not allowed to play Condemned while my wife is in the room, so that limits my time there.

I second all of that- I was also wondering about both Gun and Kong. I've read many reviews through Gamerankings, but I'm interested in what "real people" -- namely, us! -- think of these.

And please let us know- would you BUY or just RENT a given game? Condemned sounds like a great ride, but more like a rental, all things considered. Perfect Dark, however, is one I'm thinking of buying- since with the multiplayer (and bots, even) it seems to have more longevity. Opinions?

Regarding King Kong, I attempted to download the demo from Live yesterday, and I couldn't find the thing. I know it was available last week (or at least I think it was on the list that Microsoft released leading up to the release of things that would be available on Live at launch). Am I too late? I just got my Xbox yesterday. Where would I find it?

the only demos i've seen for download, so far, have been: nba live '06, need for speed - most wanted and kameo. i wish they'd put the kong and call of duty demos up....

Also playing COD2, finished the Russian missions last night, it's an awesome game.

Gun is "OK" in my opinion. It's fun to play and has a decent story. The graphics are not stellar and the animations are mediocre. It's not a long game, and I'd recommend playing on the harder skill levels to extend out the gameplay somewhat. It was very easy on "normal" up until the final boss. It's definitely worth a rental, but I wouldn't pay $60 for it.

King Kong is a lot of fun. I'm about half-way through the game according to the in-game percentage complete meter. I've fought as Kong a couple of times. Found the controls a bit awkward, but fun once you got the hang of it. Nothing like snapping the V-Rex's jaw open to kill it! It can get a bit repetitive at times (many of the environments look very similar). Fortunately, as I started to get bored the game threw something new in to spice it up. The puzzles start ramping up in complexity as well, although I thought this aspect was a bit abrupt (easy, easy, pretty hard). There are also some interesting gameplay mechanics. Ammo is rare, so you must use bones and spears around the environment instead. It's more challenging, but doesn't feel forced. Graphically, it looks very good. I did see a bit of framerate drop in one sequence where you're on a boat throwing flaming spears. Every time the 360 had to overlay the water and fire effects it would choke. Other than that, it's been very good graphically (measuring against CoD2 as excellent). All in all, I'd recommend this one. There's enough longevity to keep the game entertaining. I will say I'm playing it between other games, rather than in one long go. I'm not sure it would hold it's appeal as much that way.

I should say "again". I was forced to buy it as part of the Gamestop silver bundle. I don't regret getting it. I wouldn't have the system otherwise! It isn't worth $60, or $50 on the "legacy" systems for that matter.

Same here but I find the Ranked Online Races stupid.. I'd rather Ranked games with Ghost on... To many f.ucktards ramming the sh.it out of me in turns.. Hell I was Laping someone and he rammed me in a turn and ended up getting 3rd... WHERES THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCREW KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Playing PDz and Kameo , and both are excellent !

My cousin beat Kong in about 10 hours and I watched him play some of it ... I would say only a rental for Kong . It did not impress me from a gameplay standpoint or graphically for that matter . Playing as Kong is cool but playing as Jack is just plain boring IMO .

Condemned should probably be a rental since it offers such short gameplay (can be beat in 5-6 hours from what I have heard) . I plan to rent it myself since it does look like a good time .

Maybe a wee bit of an exaggeration. 10 hours or so would be more accurate the first time through. Personally, I'd rather an engrossing 10 hours than a game that drags on.......

Play it on the highest difficulty and there is no way that this game is beat in 6 hours. Not without a walk-through and constant running through the game while looking for squat.

This game is definitely a 10 hour + game on the hardest difficulty and the will to find items.

I sucked all throughout PGR2, mainly online, and it looks like it will be the same way with 3. I've only done the first London race so far in career mode, but I haven't been able to finish above third place on only the Medium setting. Sad. So sad. Once I put more time into it, I'm sure I'll get better, but there's too much other good stuff to play in the meantime.

I'm loving Kameo. I played through level 0 of Perfect Dark Zero. I have yet to put CoD2 and Condemned in the system. I'm saving those for this weekend when I can dedicate some serious hours to each so I can immerse myself.

I will say that it looks like PD0 will piss me off if I have to start each mission from the beginning every time I die in order to get stats.

--- I agree but I have heard from several people now that have beat the game in about 6 hours (which is not to say it would not take longer on the hardest difficulty setting , most games do) . Even the local GameStop employees have said people have complained about how short the game is . I think Condemned looks great but I have yet to play it myself so I am not making any judgments at this point .

Play it on the hardest difficulty and it will last longer than 6 hours. :)

My Nephew's are like the guys you heard about at GameStop. They finish a game in a few days and complain about how fast and easy it was to beat. The funny thing is... they played it on the easy setting and sometimes use a FAQ guide when/if they get stuck.

Ok , started playing Condemned and while it is creepy as all get out (which I usually like ... being a Fatal Frame fan) I really do not care for the gameplay so far (I am sure it will get better) . The main character moves a bit sluggish and I don't get into using the investigation gear all that much . But like I said I am early on into it so maybe it will draw me in and I'll end up luvn' it ;) .

Don't forget, there is also a run button. He also seemed to move differently when he was badly hurt, could be my imagination. The gameplay does pick up when you start facing multiple enemies.

So Far I am playing:

Need For Speed: I am up to #4 on the blacklist Joe Vega, Driving the Lambo is pretty nice and it handles well.

COD2: I beat it already on normal but now I am going back through it on veteran. I will say I found it more fun on Normal because you could let the war build up around you rather than hiding and pegging soldiers off one at a time just to stay alive.

Perfect Dark Zero: I am on level 8 and enjoying this game very much, excellent graphics and it passes the time well.

Condemned: I found this game very boring, after about level 5 it has hit the shelf for me for now because it is WAY to repetative. Only so many times I want to do the same thing over and over.

Madden 06': I pretty much only play this with my buddies on the weekend, we have a blast. I'm not really interested in playing the CPU all that much.

Tiger Woods: Good game but nothing special, I dont play it very often but it does get the rare occasion. I think I will be more into it after I beat PDZ and NFSMW, until then I'll put it on the rarely played list just a bit above condemned.

Only so many times I want to do the same thing over and over. That's too bad. It's around that point where I thought that the game kicked into a new gear. At least it did on the hard difficulty. More enemies coming at you at once and some of them armed with some serious hardware. Closer to the end they also throw a bunch of big/bad/ugly dudes at you with flaming 2x4's. No to mention a few cool boss battles...

COD2 for the second time through, this time on Veteran (gotta unlock those achievements!), with some PD0 online and a game of Hexic every now and again. Cracked open PGR3 Friday night to play with some friends online and realize I suck at it. Still have Kameo, Condemned, and Gun in plastic.

After finishing COD2 on an easier difficulty level over the weekend, I tried it on Veteran last night for a little while. Holy crap... I don't know how you guys do it! I'd hoped to unlock some more accomplishments on it, but instead it went back to Gamerang today. I've gotta travel for work this week, so when I get home Friday, King Kong will be waiting for me.

I bought Amped3 yesterday. I was hoping for something more SSXish, but it could still be fun.

I have been spending a lot of time with Kameo. I don't know how people finished this game in eight hours. I'd wager they didn't find all of the elemental fruit and maybe not even all of the health-up potions. Granted, I am not the best gamer out there, so it may take me a little longer to beat certain enemies. I have to admit that that damned Hydra boss had me pulling my hair out and had me calling Kameo, Major Ruin, and the majority of the time that damned Deep Blue every name under the sun that would make a sailor blush. I can't stand the way Deep Blue controls in the water. After spending a good two hours or more on that one boss battle, the game is fun again.

Logging into the game last night, it said that I have been playing for 11 hours and 29 minutes. I played for another three hours last night in the snow area, and all I accomplished was rescuing Flex and helping out the locals with their problems. Oh, and the side mission with the catapults in the Badlands. This game is a blast. I love just exploring everything. I don't know how much more of the game is ahead of me, but I'm sure I'll spend about twenty hours on it the first time through.

For anyone who is still playing this game, the Christmas clothing pack download is kinda neat. It does cost $2.50, but I think Kameo looks better in her Santa outfit, and the other characters are pretty comical-looking in their Christmas garb, too. It's especially more appropriate since I've been playing in the snow area of the game. I feel it was well worth the cost. However, I did notice that after I downloaded the pack and changed the characters' skins in the game, all of my runes were gone. Don't know if it had to do with the download or another glitch, but I went from about 450 runes down to zero. Ah well, I'll just flit around melting ice blocks and cracking open crates to build them back up.

just got the 360 yesterday, along with COD2, condemned, king kong, and PGR3...

it's a bit overwhelming trying to get a feel for 4 games in one night, but to the extent that i managed to play any of them, i liked them all.

i've never been a big fan of driving games, but the footage that was always online for PGR3 looked fun, and i have to say i love the game, even though i suck at it so far. i'm for sure gonna lose a lot of hours of my life to this game.

condemned is as unnerving as they say, which is good. and i'm sure it only gets worse...

king kong is great - a lot of fun, and very immersive without any HUD or static screen elements of any kind.

COD2 is like every other WW2 shooter i've played, only much, much better - the framerate is just like silk, no matter how much crap is going on.

anyway - not much detail to report, but just thought i'd throw my hat into the ring.

I got my 360 yesterday and just picked COD2 up with it. I don't think that I've played more than 10 minutes with it yet, but from what I experienced, me likey.

A few days ago I picked up Call of Cthulhu: DKOE. I bought it reluctantly reasoning that there was no reason to buy an 'old' game when I'd have the 360 in hand quite soon. But being a long time Lovecraft fan, and hearing nothing but good about the game, I gave in and purchased it. Great decision. Great game. I played it for a couple of hours on the 360 last night and it works seamlessly.

Hello all.
Thought I'd weigh in on the new 360.
I've bought TW 2006, King Kong, Kameo, Condemned and COD 2.
I'm fairly impressed with all the titles so far putting scores around
Kameo at 8/10
Condemned 7/10
COD 2 8/10
King Kong 8/10
TW 2006 6/10

I would have scored King kong higher but when you play as kong it feels like those segments are bit rushed and not as "fleshed out" as the human play.

TW 2006 really is a gloss over of the other consoles and by not allowing you to remap the buttons (intolerable idiocy of EA) I took off a point or 2. Yet another EA disappointment (other then Burnout series I'm not much of a fan).

COD 2 is great and no real complaints haven't played PD0 yet to see which I favor but i'm sure it's close (at least in single player game).

Condemned I like but it's just abit slower then most like (myself included) nothing really original or ground breaking but still fun to play.

Kameo I really like and it's score might be higher but i have yet to finish it and don't know about the longevity yet. Quite impressed by the graphics and gameplay so far one of the best launch titles.

I've rented GUN which I enjoyed a lot it's a great little game but far to short for me to recommend buying but rent it or buy used for a fun game that does something a little different for a change.

Rented PGR3 and RR6 both which are visually impressive and somewhat fun but I prefer the unrealistic driving experiences of the burn out series which I'll wait for before buying my 1st driving game for the 360. Both are stellar games though and kudos to PGR 3 for the live content such as watching races - good show.

Some of the online games and the Hexic included on the hard drive are good little time wasters as well. Simple but fun the way games should be.

Looking forward to the many great titles coming out soon and cant wait till I can try out my new PJ Panne AE900 with the 360 when I finally get a day off (the 21st) right now it's still impressing me on the my Samsung 46" DLP but I must confess my friends 50" Sony LCD did impress me more with the detail displayed - especially noticable in TA-2006. Both TV's do display great PQ but the edge to the sony LCD IMO.

Cheers

Myself, I've played just a little of the three games I got (PGR3, PDZ & COD2). Like many others have stated, I too suck at PGR3. PDZ seems cool, but will take some practice. COD2 really seems awesome and is the one I'm most looking forward to playing. I've only had the system since Sunday night.

Games I'm looking forward to are DOA4, Burnout and especially Ghost Recon 3.

Overall, I need a lot of practice. I'm really new to FPS games, because I only owned a GameCube from the last generation of systems. BTW, I'm also looking forward to Resident Evil 5, because part 4 on the GameCube was easily one of the best games EVER made.

I realize that Halo is probably the most popular game for the Xbox 1, but is it something I should buy to play on the Xbox360?

I've heard it's great and even remember playing the demo in stores a few years ago, but how does it hold up today?

Would it seem like a step down compared with some of the better 360 launch titles?

Also, if I should buy it, would you recommend buying both 1 and 2 or just skipping 1 all together?

Thanks!

Also, once I get some practice under my belt, I really looking forward to some online play of PDZ and PGR3 and perhaps even Halo.

I have a 360 and the first game I bought was Halo 2 (i didn't have an original xbox). The online play is awesome. Get it!

I have since got NFS: Most Wanted for the 360. Love this game. While not near as realistic as PGR3 as far as physics goes, it is just fun fun fun. My only complaint is that they don't have my car - a Nissan 350Z.

I've been thinking of getting NFS too, because it looks like a lot of fun. I really like arcade racers although I have been practicing on PGR3 and am sucking a little less now.

As for Halo... So I won't be missing much if I just get Halo 2 but not Halo 1?

The story in Halo 1 is pretty good. I wouldn't want to play Halo 2 without playing Halo 1 first.

They have the "triple pack" for $50 now, which has Halo 1, Halo 2 and the bonus Halo 2 maps. This is probably about what you'd pay for Halo 1 + Halo 2 used most places.

I've been playing Condemned the last 2 or 3 days. I liked it start with but I'm growing bored with it. Same thing over and over. Someone said level 5 gets it going. I think I'm just about done with level 4. I doubt I'll finish the game if it doesn't get any better in the next couple hours of gameplay. The voice acting is pretty bad and the story isn't any better.

I suppose there has been the occassional complaint on here but out of COD 2, Kameo, PD0, NFS Most Wanted, Condemned and PGR 3...there is NOTHING that comes close to touching CONDEMNED.

Not only is the immersion level in this game staggering, it is by far the best example of "next gen" of any launch title.

If you are into incredibly tense and lifelike experiences, horror, suspense and a refreshingly different gameplay mechanic, this is your title.

Want to see what the 360 can do? Stick this one in. AWESOME. It definitely does kick into high gear in Chapter 5! It was also the fifth best selling launch title (pretty damn good for an original IP). Bring on the sequel!!

I've got Comdemned coming today or tomorrow from Gamerang. Looking forward to giving it a shot!

I've been playing a LOT of Amped 3 lately. It's not next-gen stuff, but it's a fun game so far. Not sure if it'll hold that feeling for the WHOLE thing (it's a big game) but so far it's not as quite bad as reviews made it out to be. (though the lack of a full, actual 2-player mode sucks)

I picked up the Halo triple pack last night along with NFS. I played NFS for a couple of hours and while it is a fun game, it doesn't seem to have the same next-gen look and feel as some of the other games. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably just rent it. One thing that is really cool about NFS is that in free roam, the world seems to go on forever. When being chased by the cops, you can just about go anywhere. Pretty cool.

I also played Halo 1 (for the first time) and it is awesome!

I've been considering Condemned, but I may rent it first. It sure looks cool though.

I agree it's very good technically. It also has a very good level of immersion.

Yet, there is no real story to speak of and the gameplay is nothing new.

Games with no story and no character development should not have sequels. IMHO.

Can anyone who has played Kameo and found all of the Elixirs of Life (or whatever the health-up potions are called) PM me? I have obtained 11 of the 12, and I can see the last one; I just don't know how to reach it. I've tried for several hours to get to it via different elemental warriors and routes, and I invariably fall to my death. I don't know what else to try. I don't want to spoil the game for anyone still playing it. That's why I want to get help via PM. I can tell you the one I need help with and what I've tried if you PM me. Thanks.

Interesting comment Dral. Even though I suppose the gameplay is not technically BRAND new (Riddick is one example) it is pretty damn rare. How many first person games have been nothing but hand to hand object melee combat? Can't think of too many myself. Some games have had that but always with a lot of weapons and I have never seen it done this well or polished. This game is like starring in CSI and Seven at the same time.

Condemned came from Gamerang yesterday, and all I have to say is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz...

I WANTED to like it - I really did! :( I can't get past how freaking SLOW you move (yes, I know... you can sprint - for a whole 20 seconds), and the melee combat drives me crazy. (I knew going into it that it was primarily melee, but didn't think it'd annoy me as much as it does)

The game LOOKS cool with audio to match, and just the first level made me jump tons of times. But amazing visuals and an insane amount of creepiness don't automatically make for a fun game in my book. To me, arms-reach smackdowns and snails-pace movement don't make for a fun game.

This one's going back in the mail today already. Glad I didn't buy it! (it was in my Walmart bundle until they shipped my console and no games, so then I cancelled my games)

edit... I've got to edit this a bit. A friend of mine came over yesterday and we spent the entire day playing Condemned. It's one of those titles that seems more fun to play with someone else around. I think we're ALMOST done - we finished up in the farmhouse and quit for the night. I'm STILL glad I only rented it though! :D

Right now I am playing PGR3 mostly, with a little Kameo thrown in. I love Condemned, but I only want to play it if I have a few hours set aside (weekends) because I don't want to just play that game for 30 minutes or so. Of the four titles I own, PDZ gets the least amount of attention so far.

On comment. Is anyone having difficulty burning CD's into the hard drive and making playlists? I mean, I have figured it out but it seems very anti-intuitive and the interface on the original XBox was much more user friendly IMO. I spent at least 30 minutes of trial and error last night trying to set up a PGR3 playlist.

I have tried the FIFA demo and it is pretty fun. The thing I noticed is that there is no announcers (like Madden) and there is not many sound effects. It seems like all you hear is the crowd's reaction to the game. Maybe because it is just the demo?

The full version of FIFA got terrible ratings, but its the only demo I have not downloaded yet. I'll do it today and check it out, I don't always agree with many game reviews anyway. I'm quite sure its a rushed product like all the other EA sports titles for the 360 right now, but if its fun to you, what difference does it make what IGN or Gamespot rated it, right?

yeah, the full version has announcers and more sounds.

Some people don't like that you only can choose national teams, but the name of the name is Road to The World Cup....

I have FIFA 06 for the PS2, so I don't miss playing with regular clubs.

I have played just a few games but I like the presentation, you can truly see next gen graphics, options there. I also like that when the game is loading you can play with your favorite team, as if you were training.

i started playin NFS and NBA 2K6 this morning. NFS is having issues, but the challenges are pretty cool, evading the police i find to be a lot more fun than the actual career mode. hopefully my exchange wont have any glitches.

2K6 i think is awesome. easily the best basketball game i have ever played. the controls are set up just right, the animations are great, i havent found a flaw yet except in my ability to play the game, AND the same problem i had with 2K3 and 2K5...in that my center and power forward have NO BUSINESS being around the perimeter! me and my friend were doing an East vs. West, and each of us was looking to feed our centers in the paint, and Shaq is wandering around the outside!

I have Kameo which is a real treat as far as graphics go. Beatiful game.

Also have NFS:most wated , awsome arcade style racer with the best police chases bar none.... checked my rap sheet and my best chase lasted over 25 minutes with 37 cop cars involved. You can upgrade all your cars with performance , suspension, and and even customize your cars body. Very fun game.... looks awsome on a 120 " screen and the soundtrack rocks.

I tried Call of Duty 2 at the store and i must say as a computer gamer, i just can't get used to the gamepad controls. Nothing beats a keyboard and mouse and i guess even ghost recon will be unplayable for me :(

I just spent 3 hours with Quake IV.

I am near the end of it. 17 hours of gameplay or so.

Just like Doom 3, it's a very old fashioned game. Nothing new here. It's Quake as it ever were, with new shiny graphics and dynamic lighting.

It's tedious at this point and my wrists hurt badly.

Overall I had fun.
It's more a technical exercise than a creative piece, though.

To answer the Halo 2 question - - you have to buy the Xbox 1 version. The Xbox 360 is backwards compatible with certain XBOX 1 games, Halo 1 & 2 included.

My games:

Kameo - I recommend it! Very fun, good looking game.

Madden 2006 - Nice graphics, missing features. If you already have 2006 for another platform, then don't bother with it on the 360, otherwise get it.

Tiger Woods 2006 - Same as madden. I haven't played this one online much though, still just building up my personal golfer.

Condemned - One of the games I wanted the most when getting the xbox, and I have to say I like it. Not as much as I thought I would, but I hear it does pick up in chapter 5 which is where I am now, so maybe it'll revive me.

PGR3 - I'm not a big racer fan, but I have heard so much about this series. It's fun, but I'm not a big racer fan like I said so I'm having trouble getting into this game. Burnout is more my thing I think, but I'll keep trying.

COD2 - Great single player. Great graphics. Online play is kinda stinky. Save game bug is annoying, but IMO one of the better launch titles. You should own or at least rent this.

PDZ - The opposite of COD2. Single player stinky, multiplayer great. Lots of options on multiplayer. If you're an online freak, you'll like this.

NBA2k6 - Gorgeous. Good online play with leagues.

I also rented and beat GUN. Fun game, not next gen, not worth the buy -- rent it. Its just a port so don't expect much.

Call of Duty 2 I've been playing this online. It's not perfect online. When it works it, it's a lot of fun. Amazing graphics. I'm not usually a big FPS player, but this one is very engaging.

Madden 2006 I've been playing Madden since it came out for the Genesis. I toyed with the idea of not getting it for the 360. I couldn't help myself. I'm still getting used to the play calling changes (hot routes seem trickier). It looks wonderful. I wasn't a big fan of superstar mode and the other fluff. Gameplay is realistic and fun.

PGR3 I don't remember ever buying a racing game before this game. This is a lot of fun. It looks next gen to me. It was a big hit with the fam on Christmas Eve, and none of the fam were gamers.

Perfect Dark Zero Blech. Not my kind of game. I bought it used from Gamestop. I took advantage of their liberal used game return policy and exchanged it the next day. I played it for a night, and I really tried to like it. Then I stopped myself and thought, "Why would I try and like a game? They're supposed to be fun, not work."

NBA 2k6 I exchanged Perfect Dark Zero for this. I don't know who I was trying to kid. I love sports games. The AI does a great job during gameplay. There's a few minor problems like my center going to the perimeter instead of downlow. There are ways to fix that during the game. Players look very realistic. Another fun game.

Hexic HD Yep, this is video game crack. I'm pretty good at getting the flowers now. I can't quite get the pearls yet.

One of my favorite functions of the 360 is streaming audio. I have a fair amount of MP3s, and it's nice to be able to listen to them while playing. Streaming pictures of my son during Christmas with the fam was nice for the "aww" factor.

here's what i have been playing so far :

MADDEN '06 - beautiful graphics but just lacking overall in game feel and execution. they also left the RUMBLE feature off which actually makes you miss that little feature a lot...

TIGER WOODS '06 - same as above. seems like an EA rush job, but still fun and looks pretty.

PROJECT GOTHEAM 3 - incredible racing game, great graphics, lots of different modes, no slowdown even when a ton is happening onscreen.

CALL TO DULY 2 - best offline shooter i've ever played. haven't tried online yet. best "next gen" title for my money so far.

NBA2K6 - one of the most realistic "you're in the game" experiences i've ever had. i'm horrible at it but it's still fun, it's THAT good. best sports game i've played for 360 by far.

NHL2K6 - lots of freezing problems in load screens after games in Season mode that are unrecoverable. great game but feels like a port with better graphics. LOAD freeze bug really kills it.

I play PGR3 the most without a doubt.

Added 2 new games; Dead of Alive 4 and Quake 4 to my Library over the holiday break.
Both are stellar games I highly recommend them both.
Dead or Alive - 9/10
Quake 4 - 9/10 (single player rating haven't played multi yet)

There is already a ton written up on DOA4 on the other thread regarding this amazing game but don't overlook Quake 4 - It's on the marketplace now for a demo download so do yourself a favor, download and try this game I think you'll be presently surprized ( I know I was I rented it then after playing a bit I ran out and bought it immediately I was so impressed).

Kameo - A
Beautiful graphics and very fun game play.

PGR 3 - A-
This game is really growing on me. At first I was a bit disappointed with the graphics. On a 106" screen there are quite a few jaggies present when you're actually racing in game...but, the game is a hell of a lot of fun and sometimes the graphics are amazing. The detail in the environments is awesome, even with the jaggies. Plus, it's a blast driving around the major cities listening to your tunes being streamed from your pc.

I really like pgr3, my only problem with it is that my trigger finger gets really sore really fast holding it down for so long!

I'm glad you mentioned the custom soundtrack option - this weekend I ripped about 500 songs to the hard drive only to find a very few games (this one, and nhl2k6 which I no longer own) utilize the feature. Games you would think you'd be able to use your own soundtracks for (tiger woods, tony hawk, madden) don't have the option.

Tiger Woods '06 came from Gamerang yesterday. I only played 9 holes last night - it looked OK, but the fun level was so-so. I've never played a golf video game before, and I wasn't trying to get fancy with spins or anything - I was just whackin' the crap out of it. I parred 5 holes, and exceeded my shot limit on the other 4. :D

Quake is growing on me more and more, but I HATE the horrific load times! You can get into some tough spots where it can take you a few tries to make it through an area, and each time you die you have to sit through the same 20 second(ish) load period - regardless of if you walked 100' or 1' before you last died. Too bad there's no co-op on this one - it'd be a fun one for it if the corridors were wider and there were more baddies.

Amped 3 - I didn't think snowboarding games would be my thing but I became addicted to this one. It is awesome. The cut scenes alone are worth the purchase. Don't think of it as snowboarding, think of it as saving the world by breaking your bones and doing cool tricks in the process.

Just picked up my 360 yesterday, and didn't buy any games with it. With a couple of exceptions, I'm a try-before-you-buy kind of guy. A game has to have a great, replayable single player experience (a la KOTOR) or great multiplayer ( a la Halo 2) for me to buy it.

At first I just played all the Demos I could find, and want to check out Kameo and PGR3 as a result. Hexic HD and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved are more addictive than crack. I've played those the most of anything.

I rented Condemned last night, and it looks and sounds great, but I found myself getting pulled back into Hexic after the first Chapter finished... Will try it again tonight. The atmosphere is fantastic, but battling enemies is a little bit too repetitive, and the forensic tools seemed kinda tacked on and kinda hokey. "Now pull out your 'evidence detector'..."

Will be buying CoD2 soon, and renting Kameo, PDZ, and PGR3.

What I'm REALLY looking forward to though, are Mass Effect and Oblivion.

Dead or Alive 4 -- great backgrounds, very good character models, fast gameplay, and enough variety in modes and styles of fighting to keep it interesting. I've been frustrated by the difficulty of winning story mode with some characters, because I've not yet mastered their styles. But I think it will be rewarding to "beat" this game.

Call of Duty 2 -- I've just started, but I'm impressed with the level of "immersion." I'm a bit surprised by the "T" rating; this thing is pretty intense and realistic, and war is Hell.

PGR3 - Stunning graphics, fun gameplay, I've always liked this series.

DOA4 - same description as PGR but wow the offense has really been amped up on this version. Peeps that had a hard time countering in the last few games REALLY will have a hard time now. And of course the usual 'bounciness'...lol.

PD0 - I haven't had much time with it but so far I like it. Reminds me of Deus Ex : Invisible War for some reason.

Arcade games
Robotron - I was addicted to this back in the day and had to have it once I found out it was on live marketplace.

Geometry Wars - HARD but extremely fun. I also love the graphical style the evolved version has. This is actually now my favorite Live arcade game.

Smash TV - Another old-school arcade game I lost too many quarters on and still love to play. Seems a little harder than what it was back in the day. Maybe I'm just getting old...lol.

Peter Jackson's King Kong - First time through, 70%. Under 2 hours left and I think I'll have beat it. Good game, great atmosphere. Feels a little short, maybe worth a rental or at least wait until the price drops. I got as a Christmas present so its cool. :p

Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Bought it a few weeks ago, I beat a few of the people on top of the black list. Haven't had much time to play, but I'm going to try to get some more game time in this weekend. Very fun game. I loved the demo and this is just gives me more mayhem to cause.

Geometry Wars - Come on, its Geometry Wars :D

PGR3 - A placeholder until Forza 2 comes out. I miss customizing my cars, and I like driving cars that I have any sort of goal to afford. :)

DOA4 - Button mashing fun.

I actually fired up my old XBOX today and threw in "Flatout" ....waited online for someone to race with, No one showed.

Out came "PGR2", plenty of good folks to race with this game. Still my favorite racing game of all time.

Tomorrow I might throw in "RallySport Challenge 2"

But what I have been playing everyday is "Call of Duty 2" Deathmatch..the most addicting game I have ever played.

Of the X360 lineup, I've now finished CoD2, PD0, Kameo, King Kong, and Condemned, and I've been playing Tiger Woods 2006 with a friend on Live. I've enjoyed all of these games, but I'd have to put CoD2 and King Kong at the top of the list with Condemned right below those two. Of course, all of these games were short, so I've actually just started to rent them. Going to decide if I'd be better off with something like Gamefly soon.

As for X-Box titles on the X360, my wife and I are playing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II. I've also picked up Outlaw Golf 2 to play on Live with a friend, and last night I picked up Darkwatch. All of these games run fine in backward compat mode, though BG : DA II does slow down intermittently. Otherwise I've seen no issues. I do wish that they ran in 1080i with widescreen, but I just turn the screen settings down to 480p and use the scaler on my TV to fill the screen...works fine...just not true 16:9 aspect ratio.

Of the games coming up, I'm most looking forward to Oblivion and Far Cry Instincts: Predator. I just finished Morrowind on the PC to prepare for Oblivion, and good lord was it good! Add that depth to an X360 quality visual engine, and I'm going to be lost for months. I also played Far Cry on the PC, but between the enhanced visuals, different plotline with Jack mutating, and Live multiplayer, I'm looking forward to giving it another go.

I gotta say...I really love the X360! I'm looking forward to a much larger library of games, but that'll come, and I've enjoyed all of the launch titles I've played so far...

Playing all of the following equally (about 1-2 hours each and then hop over to the next):

1. Ghost Recon: AW (awesome single player BTW) *add* (FYI to all 360 developers, THIS is how to dispense Gamerpoints, please buy this game and learn how to effectively use Gamerpoints)
2. Fight Night Round 3 (seems very easy at default difficulty, I'll pass it first, then crank up the diff.)
3. Project Gotham Racing 3 (just finished all silver trophies and started going for the gold! BTW what cars make up the Exotic Cars Achievement, I have the 4 listed, but can't figure out the others)
4. Hexic HD (I'm pretty sure I'm kicking a$$, with multiple Black Orbs ('bout 3-4 per game) but I just keep on going)
*add*
5. Call Of Duty 2 (completely forgot I grabbed this one. Good game, but it's just too damn easy to pass each stage on Veteran mode (which, BTW, is where the Gamer Points are at). I mean you die a lot but you just restart and learn not to do what you just did, eventually you'll pass the stage) (also this is a great example to all 360 developers on how NOT to dispense Gamerpoints)

Also anticipating Oblivion, but still not sure if I want to opt for the more expensive Prem pack

Ive had my 360 for 3 weeks and have finished a game a week.
COD2, Kameo, Gun. (Guess I could go back for all the extras and stuff).

But I have the following waiting to play... which one should I play first.
PDZ, Condemed, NFSMW, Madden (actually played a game, not impressed enough to play a season...until I get the fever so I guess this one is out). I almost bought GRAW today, but decided I was going to hold off until I bought an HDTV since eveyone says the graphics are so awesome. I also want Burnout and Oblivion for sure. Outfit and battlefield depending on the reviews.....

So PDZ? Condemed?

I took my time with Condemed working on the optional objectives and playing melee only. It brought the game to 17 hours, not at all bad considering I missed quite a bit! I am sure using guns would speed the game along quite a bit.

About Condemned....

The demo of said game in this months OXM (with Scarface on the cover) has a loading screen that mentions you can get an Gamerpoint(s) by completing the demo with only melee weapons. I know this is an achievement in the full retail version, but are they now putting game achievements in demos?

"too damn easy" == "you die a lot" ?

I like the gamerpoints in COD2, finishing the levels had a sense of accomplishment... I'm not quite sure how you want them to not let you restart.

As for GRAW, I love the game, but the gamerpoints? Some are insane... I will never get the #1 ranking in anything, they shouldn't be exlusive like that, they should be attainable. I like the other MP and single player ones (minus play 8 straight hours).

Btw, I'm playing only GRAW right now, but will probably be popping NFSMW in for online races from time to time.

It's along the same lines as Bejeweled. You have a frog in the center of
each map shooting marbles. You have to get 3 or more of the same
colored marbles to remove them. It's worth the download but get your
$10 ready for the full version to keep the wife happy.

haven't even had time to play Tomb Raider yet.

I finished Tomb Raider and found it well worth playing.

A couple things to beware of:

Technical: inconsistent framerates bother me on a platform (360) with this much power - I hope this becomes a thing of the past soon. :(

Gameplay: some of the boss battles rank among the worst/most annoying I've played. Be ready for cheap hits, repetitive taunts, and puzzles that don't quite work even though you are doing the right thing!

Ending: I won't spoil it, but I found the ending to be an unsatisfactory "conclusion".

Still, the game is well worth putting up with these annoyances. There's some really nice lighting touches that pop up here and there, and most of the puzzles had the right amount of challenge for me.

Oh, and the Croft Manor side-quest is brilliant.

Not bad... I like shooting enemies through the floorboards. And some of the bright environments look very nice - great water! Laying traps is cool too.

I'm still having a total blast with it, but I think after I finish another guild or two, I'll likely put it away for a while.

Online I've been playing Battlefield 2, GRAW, CoD2 (so much better now that they've patched the online!), Top Spin 2, and Tiger Woods. Mostly I've been playing with one of my childhood friends who lives in Nashville a few nights a week, "hanging out" virtually on private chat...definitely one of my favorite features of the X360.

Great ideas but is it ever sluggish and hard to aim with. I can rank in the top 3 90% of the time in Halo2, COD2, etc.. but for the life of me i cannot aim in that game to save my life. 2-3 ammo clips to kill someone in multiplayer? God Damn...

I just finished Condemed: Criminal Origins as a rental... great game! Much better than the demo suggests.

Simpsons Hit & Run on the 360... no, really. There's some good Xbox deals in the bargain bin that play well on the 360.

Oh, and Star Wars Battlefield 2 on the 360.

Battlefront. :p We need to play some MP btw.

I just finished GRAW yesterday. Before that I finished Black and Stubbs the Zombie. Next up is either Table Tennis or Far Cry.

COD2 on and off since launch on 11/22/05. If any AVS'ers want to play with a mature gamer who likes to work together as a team feel free to send me a friend request.

My gamertag is in my signature, thanks.

MotoGP '06.... it rocks!

Yes, it does!

I've had my 360 for a week, and this is the game that I am addicted to.

I'm currently seeded 49th, and working my way up.

If anyone is interested in some PDZ action, Adult Gaming Enthusiasts' regular Tuesday Shooters Night this coming Tuesday (7-18) @ 9 pm ET is PDZ. (See .sig for link). So, I''l be playing that on Tuesday.

Otherwise, I'm also making progress in GRAW on Hard while waiting for Chromehounds to ship its way to me.

Just got Kameo, WOW! I can't believe how underrated this game is. I have only gotten a few levels in and it is great. Was it too kiddie or something?

Both Kameo and PDZ are availabe at CC this week for $19.99! I can't pass that up!

I've been addicted to Battlefield 2:Modern Combat since I got the online demo disc on the PS2. Did it hurt to pay for the game again for the 360? Not really. Not only did I get updated HD graphics, but Xbox Live is the only way to play online console games. PS2 has no kind of support for online. It just sucks now that my clan looks like it's falling apart, and I'm stuck with the gamer tag xSAINTSxScotty unless I want to pay $10 to change it.

I've been playing GRAW and i rented Prey to check it out..
Prey has some pretty awesome eye candy, but i dont really dig the game so far. im probably 1/4 of the way through and it is just too creepy for me to really enjoy. if the graphics and physics and such were in a different setting, i think i would be having more fun...
next up to try is NCAA 2007 ....any other suggestions on what to try out? how about Far Cry?

What online service would people here recommend for game rentals?

Since you are a left coaster... GameFly has been around as long as any of them and I've had pretty good service from them - getting games shipped on their release day even! I consider them the "Netflix" of game rental places - not the cheapest but they make an effort to run a smooth operation.

For us East Coasters GF's shipping times from CA can be frustrating at times. :(

Also Galaga & Pac-Man and renting Full Auto.

As a Burnout fan, Full Auto doesn't have the appeal as I had hoped. :(

Finding ,yself at home all day unexpectedly with a medical problem, I picked up Dead Rising to help pass time.

WAYYY too much fun but where the hell is the maintenance key? I've looked everywhere in the tunnels (off to cheat site...)

Its important to play FA as FA, not Burnout. Its all about the shooting and driving. They both may be car carnage but they are very different games.

I picked up Saints Row because I was hearing good things about it. And I must say I couldn't be more happy with the purchase.. I never play SinglePlayer (expect GRAW) and I just can't put down the game for SinglePlayer.. For me this is the best 360 game to date.. I actually don't want to play online because the Sp is so much fun..

Recently been using BFME2 and Enchanted Arms. Both are excellent additions to the 360 library.

Enchanted Arms has quickly became what is IMO the best game on the XB360, if your a RPG fan you have to give it a try.

Loving B2 Modern Combat! My rank keeps going up and then down because I am still learning and I refuse to cheat and pad my rank like so many people appear to be doing! I just don't get that. What's the point in having a bunch of medals and awards if you don't get them honestly? I just have fun playing the game online with folks that feel the same way.

Really? I don't own the game but how do you cheat in a racing game? I guess maybe friends race each other and take turns winning?

Put about 3 hours into Saints Row last night. Most I've been able to play since I bought it. Still having a great time. I didn't even do the main missions, mainly just insurance fraud and snatch missions. Had to cover an area getting taken over as well. I'll probably start back on the main missions next time. I think I have 8 or so unlocked right now.

Saints Row and NHL2k7

Mostly playing the activities in Saints Row, the hijack missions are getting tough but it's fun so I don't mind.

I've been playing several games actually, alternating between Prey, Tomb Raider, Saint's Row with a little Top Spin 2 action mixed in. My current favorite is Saint's Row and I just finished up Prey. I'm planning on picking up Lego Star Wars II next.
