I think we had better open a thread on Onkyo TX-SR603 series.

Here goes my first question & concern.

1. HTPC flickering trouble when connected through AV receiver

Hello. I've been using my HTPC, directly connected to my TV by S-Video for quite a while.

Now, I wanted to connect it through my AV receiver (Onkyo TX-SR603X), but when I connected it, by S-video, to my AV receiver (which is connected to the TV through component video), the TV screen flickers so much. This receiver is supposed to do the S-video-component video upconversion. More over, when I boot, that is the computer screen is not Windows screen yet, my TV screen shows ram check, booting process without any flickering. When the windows screen appear, it starts flickering.

Any similar experience? I would appreciate any help. Probably I can set my video card differently to get away with this.

I have the 603x but not using a HTPC. I will try to help anyway. Try changing the resoulution for the video card? It might help. Other that that mabey a cable change? Try a composite cabe from the card to the 603?

Also try a different S-Video source into the Onkyo. See how that comes through the component output. If it's OK, then I would investigate your video card's S-Video output.

Thank you for inputs.

My videocard might not be "compatible" with Onkyo 603X. Certainly, it has been working great when connected to TV directly via S-video. Is it some frequency thing.. I don't know. I just called Tech Support, and she doesn't seem to have any idea either.

I am having similar problems. I am upgrading from a tx-lr552, which gave me no problems whatsoever. Now I get flickering, lines through the screen (almost like treadmarks), and a lot of brown instead of black. I get it most through component-to-component (dvd and cable) but also get it a little less through svid>component (replaytv).

Help Please - No sound through Rear speakers with my new Onkyo TX-SR603X.
Perfectly wired and set-up microphone test works through all speakers. But no matter what input (CD, tuner, DVD, TV), nothing through the rears no matter what listening mode I try.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

The test tone is coming throught the rears but other your inputs aren't? Make sure you dont have it in Stereo mode.

I'm trying to connect DVD & DVR with component through my Onkyo SR603X reciver to my new Samsung LN-S3738 37" LCD. When I go directly from DVD or DVR to TV via component it works just fine but when I try to connect through the receiver the TV cycles between "Searching for Signal" and "Not Supported Mode" messages. Any ideas what's going on?

I just bought a 603X via EBay [will arrive on the 22nd] and then found out the seller did not have the MIC - needless to say, I am now wondering, WHY, I mean IF I bought a Receiver like this NEW - I certainly would not LOSE the MIC.....hoping 1st off that I did not buy a "pig in a poke". And NOW.....my question is: I am looking at the Manual via PDF to see what the MIC INPUT looks like on this unit......it appears to be a typical input for a small Jack, like the one used for my 'puter MIC, if so, could someone PLEASE tell me IF I could use my MIC [Sennheiser] from my 'puter to do the Auto Setup.

The autosetup goes all the way through the setup process, makes changes (which would compensate for a different mic I suppose) and then goes back through it to make sure everything is correct. I don't think it does anything that you can do with a Radioshack spl meter and 30 min. and a measuring tape.

By the way,I'm pretty pleased with my 603 that I just picked up on HUGE CLEARANCE from a big box retailer, go out and look for one if you've been thinking about picking one up.

actually it sets 5 eq levels for each speaker independently.

Just had AT&T U-verse installed. Found a code for the U-verse remote that will power on & off, along with volume controls, for my Onkyo TX-SR603X. However, I can't change between inputs. Does anyone know how to do this on the U-verse remote?

Hi everyone! Does anyone knows if I can connect a voice microphone to the 603X? I haven't found information at the owners manual.

You can try putting the "All Stereo" mode so it won't be in a surround mode where the receiver separates the sound. In this mode you will have all the speakers at the same level.

My dad purchased a 603x a while back brand new. Today I am only able to get sound using the Direct DSP mode. Dolby, DTS, Stereo, all those don't work through the speakers. I am able to get a test tone through all 3 front speakers. Video 1 input is from the cable box using optical cable - using the Direct mode -sound just comes out the center speaker. If I plug in headphones, then I get sound in both ears but that's probably just the headphones. Any ideas?
