View Full Version : AE700 Xbox 360 VGA Problem..HELP!!!
Ok, just got the VGA adapter pack for my xbox 360 (didnt want to lose my Component DVD player input), when I go into the xbox 360 Dash, and select 1280x720 as the resolution, it doesnt fill the screen. I lose about a foot on the right hand side (its just black). The left side is perfect, but the pic is not full screen, and certainly doenst look HD anymore. When I go into the menu, it detects it as WIDE720. If I chance the Res to anything else in xbox, it forces it to XGA. Is there problems with the 360 and VGA input on the AE700? Any ideas? I was suppose to demo my 360 to my dinner guest tonight.

I seem to remeber the 700 require some kind of auto set up to be used on the VGA (though that might just be PCs)--check out the early pages of the 700 threads where VGA is mentioned a few times.

cgengler 12-08-05, 08:06 PM Ok, I'm interested in how this gets resolved since...I have the AE700, purchased the 360 VGA adapter, but alas, am still trying to get the 360 itself.
Maybe you should post this in the gaming/xbox forum as well.
cgengler 01-19-06, 09:27 PM Alright, I'm experiencing the same problem as the op when outputting 1280 x 720 from the xbox 360 to the vga input on the ae700. Even after running auto-setup, the image is cropped about 6 in. (106 in. screen) from the right side.
Interestingly, if I change the resolution on the 360 to 1280 x 768, the auto-setup sizes the image correctly on the screen.
Please help!
Did this issue ever get resolved? My 360/AE700/VGA combo produces a really washed out picture. Switch back to component and the colours are back to their usual standard.... Any ideas?

Did you ever do any color calibration on the Component input? If you did, chances are the settings won't carry over to the VGA input and you'd have to recalibrate color/etc on that input.
I'm not sure if the Panasonic is the same, but I've noticed a few projectors that give you full calibration control on the component video inputs, but not on the VGA input (all the options to adjust color are grayed out).
Yep - Tried DVE on component, which worked a treat.
VGA is totally off, beyond washed out even. The picture seems duller, the image almost monochrome....
I've tried DVE via the VGA, but it's so far off to begin with it's causing me problems even getting into the same ballpark as component.
I think my only hope is the fall update for the 360....
xbox 360 is junk, maybe thats why?

have you tried toggling the HD Overscan option in the service menu?
(I wasn't going to even bother with his reply... :( )
I've not tried altering that in the service menu - what does it do? I'll try it when I get home.
Thanks PLincon.
Interestingly, if I change the resolution on the 360 to 1280 x 768, the auto-setup sizes the image correctly on the screen.
I also use 120x768 to fill the screen width, w/ no noticeable resoution drop-off. What do others experience?
I had 1280x720 set, and had to do vertical right to the maximum amount to get the screen centered in the ae700's menu. by switching to 1280x768 it fit perfectly without adjustment.
this still doesn't fix the washed out look though, and looks like it's back to component unless anyone has any suggestions.
