View Full Version : Official LG 32LX2R thread
I am thrilled to say that I am a proud owner of this great panel. It is all I could ever hope for . I am using it right now to type this text, on 1:1 pixel mapped 1360 x 768 resolution through DVI digital connection.
I only need to find a way to adjust the backlight setting hidden in it痴 service menu, and I値l be truly happy. I will be describing my experience with this panel, and you are free to ask me about it :D
CHEERS !!!
:D
I have been messing with this panel for 2 days now. Fortunately it has no dead pixels (knock on wood). The image quality is really great. SD signals look vivid .The black levels leave a bit to be desired, but only in scenes where black and shadow are filling the most of the screen. I think if I could adjust the backlight it would greatly improve the blacks (which are really good anyway). There is an option in the service menu to adjust backlight and gamma. Each setting has 3 preset values. The thing is you can change the values, but nothing happens, so I guess maybe you need to access the service menu the right way (using password) to activate these settings.
I have used this panel with my PC connecting my ATI Radeon X700pro using digital DVI-DVI connection. I was thrilled to see the perfection of the images, the text and the colours. As a computer monitor it surpasses my current TFT screen (also LG 1720p). I played Half life 2 and Guild Wars , using 1360 x 768 1:1 pixel mapped image. Now I find it difficult to play in my regular monitor :D. The gaming experience was the best I've ever had. The panel's response time is advertised as 8 ms - I think it is true : no ghosting no nothing, only crystal clear vivid bright with perfect colours and great blacks, digital picture.
I am going to get my Philips 5900 dvd player and will use hdmi to connect it. For those who don't know, this panel has HDMI and DVI inputs ! :D
I fried my Dreambox 5620 , so I will get a new one the Dreambox 7020 ( digital sat receiver ). The Dreambox will be conected using the component connections.
I will post more as I'll test those two beauties ...
cheers
kikolinho 12-12-05, 03:04 PM I have read that the DVD quality is really bad in LX2R. Have you tested it?
I have tested using scart RGB and svideo, but my source is bad. I am expecting to have a philips 5900 dvd with hdmi and I will use it sonn :D.
Even so, I am very pleased with the image quality. The only drawback is the black levels in really dark scenes. In coloured or brighter scenes, the blacks are excellent-rich and detailed.
I think that anyway the blacks I wish to see are not available to any LCD panel using today's technology.
So to answer your question : using DVD the image is great , and I am sure that it will be even better using proper source and hdmi.
kikolinho 12-12-05, 06:07 PM How about Progressive Scan? Does it support it?
I think Im going to buy that screen!
all HD LCD screens support progressive scan : it is in the HD requierments.
so yes it does :D
kikolinho 12-14-05, 12:13 PM Btw,
is there any difference between LG 32LX1R and LG 32LX2R?
How about LG 32LP1?
as far as I know the LG 32LX2R is the LG 32LP1, with different desigh. The LG 32LP1 looks , well, prettyer :). I don't know about LG 32LX1R.
I have hooked my digital sat receiver Dreambox 5620 via SCART-RGB on the panel's AV-1. The picture is superb. I wish that DVB programs would be 16:9 though.T he colours are superb, and the image really clear. I will buy some component cables to see if the picture quality can get any better.
some bad news: it seems there is a problem with the HDMI : it works perfect with NTSC , but it doesn't work with PAL at all. I hope this is a firmware problem...I have contacted LG about it, when I know more , I'll post again...
The German support of LG said there is a firmware available for correcting the HDMI - HDCP - PAL problem of the panel.
dolbypro 01-08-06, 04:24 AM I am thrilled to say that I am a proud owner of this great panel. It is all I could ever hope for . I am using it right now to type this text, on 1:1 pixel mapped 1360 x 768 resolution through DVI digital connection.

:D
Hi
please tell me what is your exact graphic card? what is the pc resolution that are you using? have you seen any hd signal on it using the computer?
I will probably buy this tv too
thanks
It is an ABIT ATI RADEON X700Pro PCI express 256 mb,and I use 1:1 pixel mapped 1360x768 using DVI-DVI cable. I have downloaded much HD content such as demos from LG, Sony, Philips, Jvc, Hitachi. Each time I watch them I feel so happy. I use Windvd7, with hardware acceleration, Powerdvd6 also but using eagle eye with it -creates OUTSTANDING images- and of course windows media player 10.
If I had to choose again , I would buy the exact same panel.
Today I finally connected my Dreambox 5620S to the 32LX2R using component cables. The picture quality is far more better that I was hoping to see. I used to have the Dreambox connected through SCART-RGB and the image quality was really great, but now it is as if this panel has revealed an even greater potential. All the colours are much brighter while the picture has more contrast. The blacks are even more richer, the details are more "sculptured" and the artefacts from the mpeg completion are smoother - overall this is a quality I was only dreaming that one day technology could offer...
kikolinho 01-16-06, 04:45 PM I'm a proud owner of LX1R which is the same panel but this one is whole black.
Have you found a way to adjust the backlight?
Have you been able to get sound from PIP? It would be great to surf in the web and watch the TV in PIP with SOUND.
AHH man, the backlight...I have been asking EVERYWHERE for that. I can access the service menu but I can not change the backlight. The option is there and it has 3 settings to choose from : 100%, 63% , 40%. It seems you need to access the service menu using the correct password and not using the menu button trick. If you find out anything more, let me know.
By the way : congrats on your buy.
kikolinho 01-17-06, 04:21 AM How about the PIP? Can you get the sound from it? I haven't found an option for this..
Where can you find that service menu thing?
pip has no sound, unless you swap it and make the secondary picture primary - in double window the picture on the left has sound and you can also swap pictures then.
service menu thing : hold the menu button pressed on your set and on the remote at the same time. the menu appears on screen. keep them pressed and keep your eyes on the screen. the instand when the normal meny dissapears from screen, release the buttons. you must be quick and try some times until you get the timing right. If not, simply the password screen will appear. press exit and retry. The backlight is in the panel options and it's called brghtness. In the panel otions you can also change the colour of the bars apearing on the sides of the screen when you use 4:3, from grey to black.
good luck.
Orc I just wanted to know what comes in the box the cables, info booklet etc... :)
oki, :D in the box you will find a fat manual, a thinner one, a cloth to pet your panel ^^ , 3 pc cables, DVI-DVI, VGA-DVI, ( these are very fat and look of great quality ) and a thin audio stereo pin to to audio stereo pin. Also a power cable, and some screws to further stabilise the panel on a surface., and a really awsome remote control with hidden buttons and also glowing buttons, which is programmable :D

 thats amazing most companies give you the bare bones packages (even for the most expensive panels) cheers mate for the help, I've also heard some conflicting reports on the contrast ratio, most say 1200:1 and some say 600:1 its very strange but it would be great help if anyone here knows.
P.S I have a link to an AV forums thread that go's into deep detail for this panel and if anyone wants it just PM me. :)
slekkas 01-23-06, 04:06 PM I'd like to get that link, can you please PM it to me please?
Thanks
P.S. I'd also like to know if theres a way to program the Remote to use the Sky+ satellite box
the official LG site says 1200:1 but I don't believe it . In any case you must see the panel with your eyes and judge the picture. To me as I am very picky and have been waiting 2 years to find a panel like that, the contrast ratio and everything on it, ( colour, resolution, resonce time, connectiviy) all is very close to the top of what I am after. I only wish to be able to adjust the backlight and then this panel will be nearly perfect.
As for the sky codes, Yes I know the remote can be programmed foe the sky box too, I think that in the manual there are codes for it, but I also read many threads in the AV forum of ppl looking how to do it - it might be tricky or smth...
slekkas 01-24-06, 03:04 PM Orc, I have connected my pc to the LG and i have configured the resolution to 1360x768 with 60Hz refresh rate. when i surf the net or watch movies the quality is amazing, i cant believe how nice this panel is, but when i play games i see some cracking on the screen. i dont think i'm describing it right. its like a line starting from the bottom and it moves to the top. I have a feeling that it's because of the refresh rate but i'm not sure. Have you had similar issues or is it just me. Is there a setting i can do to fix this?
By the way thanks for the hidden menu tip i hated the grey color on the side of the panel when using 4:3
It is the Vsync !!! You need not worry about this "tearing". It is a refresh rate issue and is there on all monitors, when the image displayed is faster than the refresh rate of the screen. go to the display properties and enaple Vsync. Also usually the games have this option in their game menus. You must try to play Half Life 2 with widescreen mode. You'll never want to play on anything else again...:D . And of course it is better to use DVI-DVI connection over VGA-DVI. If you use VGA-DVI there are many settings to play with to help you get the best picture. With DVI -DVI all is done for the best result automatically, and 1:1 pixel mapped heaven is right there....
and congrats on your buy :)
slekkas 01-24-06, 05:16 PM Orc your the man, thanks for the info, i just tried Half-Life 2 and i'm freaking out. AMAZING. can you explain to me what the 1:1 pixel mapping is? I have a VGA to DVI connection so i can use a few tips on what to configure. If you ever get the password for the hiden menu let me know. Also id like to get a link with info for how to get the best results. i want to get the mos out of this baby. I've got it for a few days only.
Thanks
Slek, pll who have been using TFT monitors on their computers using DVI-DVI know that the picture produced from the graphics card fits perfectly dot-by-dot the monitor's screen. So the image is really digital: perfect geometry, crystal clear with maximum detail. This is a feature hard to find in the TFT LCD TVs though. Only a few models have appeared to have such ability : to be able to map the pixels produced by the graphics card of the PC, 1:1 on the pixels of the panel. All the other panels usually stretch the image to fit the screen or produce an overscan effect cutting the edges of the produced image. To me being able to get 1:1 pixel mapped image on the TV panel was a top priority. The LG 32LX2R does 1:1 pixel mapping and not just that - it can do the same over HDMI (thus the HDMI-PC mode). Ppl have been trying using super expencive cables and experimenting with powerstrip to get a PC to even work through HDMI, and in most cases have failed. The 32LX2R simply allows you to use also the HDMI for PC or for another digital source ( like DVD player or SKY HD ) .When you select either the DVI or HDMI input you have options for DTV or PC modes for those ports. You see the panel changes the colourspace accordingly ( i will not decsribe that now) and so all work perfectly ! :D
My advice to you : use DVI-DVI or DVI-HDMI connection for your PC with the panel.
When you see it, you'll know why. ;)
PS: If I ever get the password to the service menu I'll also buy everyone in the forum a beer...

LOOOOOOL Congrats mate
F.E.A.R. looks like a diamond with this panel. Great colours, no ghosting. I only want to remember that hack, where you can get it to be dispalayed in 1366 x 768 .But even in 1280 x 768 is looking sooo gooood. Hey get Guild Wars, we could meet on line and play also. Although we would mostly stand around and be amazed to what we see....
I don't know man I stoped playing theses online rpg or mmorpg because they will totally takeover my social life so I tend to stay away from something that time consuming. I rather play something that will I would get kicks out of for an hour or so, but if you wanna play something like battlefield 2 I'd definately take you up on that. :)

hi mate was woundering u u could help me i hav a lg32lx2r panel ive conneted it to pc using dvi 2 dvi i can play call of duty but bf2 wont work any idea why i hav 2 6600gt cards in sli if that help any help welcome thxs i know how to get in the service menu to i think
well, since you get the panel to display the desctop and you can play other games, the problem lies in the configuration of the particular game you are trying to play (bf2). try changing varius options from the game menu of the bf2 to see what causes the trouble.
Does this game work at all ? Can you play it using another panel ?
There is no need to access the service menu of the panel for this.

i can play it using the monitor witch is a view sonic vp171s what settings do u think i can change to get it to work and how do u connect ur pc to tv what cables do i need and were can i get them they need to b long because my tv has been moved thx s
If you can connect the PC to panel using the DVI-DVI cable that came with your panel it will be the best. You can get very long DVI -DVI cables also in the market. If your graphics card has only VGA , then use the other cable that came with your panel (VGA to DVI ) .Using DVI-DVI makes it easyer because there is nothing to adjust.
If you use VGA to DVI connection there are lots of monitor settings in the menu to play with.
But in your previus post you said you have connected the pc to the panel using DVI DVI and you can play call of duty , so...what is the problem ?
Anyway try to connect the PC to the panel using DVI - DVI cable. choose from the input menu DVI PC and then power up the pc.
when the desctop appears go to the display panel and change the resolution of the pc to 1360x768.
then go to the BF2 config menu and choose a resolution other that the 1280x1024 that I suspect you are using at the moment.
choose 1024x768 for start. then see if the game supports higher resolutions and choose the one closest to 1360 x768.
good luck

thxs for the help mate very usefull :) do u hav an xbox 360 and how do u connect it ive got one and wont to know if in getting the best out of the panel
I don't have Xbox 360, but I know the best way to connect it is with a VGA - DVI cable.
It is very inpotrant to find the options of the xbox that will allow you to see 720p or 1080i picture. There are in the xbox menu, but I have no more info on that. You can search this forum and I am sure you'll find all you need about this.
thxs for the help mate very usefull :) do u hav an xbox 360 and how do u connect it ive got one and wont to know if in getting the best out of the panel
Get the VGA cable and a dvi-vga switcher which would not cost much its definately the best option with the 360, and make sure you set the 360 to the required resoultion and you should be set to go.
P.S. Orc my tv should be coming in next week :( due to the retailer having stock issues although when I ordered it they said it was in stock (damn them  ).
Loki that's ok it is even better : your set will have new firmware and that is always good. I suspect version 3.70
I must add that the new firmware 3.70 eliminates any compatibility issues with the HDCP on HDMI with some dvd players ( the denon dvd2910 for one ) , and so all works as expected now.
It's good to see that it was a firmware - related issue that is now resolved.
syhtomb 02-09-06, 09:43 AM I just purchased a 26LX1D and absolutely love this set. Picture is incredible and with the XD Engine the SD images are actually watchable. But I am experiencing a problem.
Has anyone had any issues when using a DVI/HDMI cable from a DirecTV Set Top Box?? The signal is fine when running component cable, but when I hook up the DVI/HDMI cable, the TV shows the "No Signal" message. I have used DVI on the STB and it works fine on my 50 in Sony LCD, so I don't think it is the output on the STB, but rather the input on the Display.
Could my HDMI input be bad on the Display? Does HDCP have anything to do with this?
Any response is greatly appreciated.
syhtomb 02-09-06, 04:08 PM Up
try to connect the STB to the DVI input of the set.
there have been issues with the HDMI port of the 32LX2R but they are now resolved with the latest firmware.
If the STB works on the DVI port of the panel, then your panel needs to be upgraded so that the HDMI post also supports your STB.
If you get no singnal on DVI input also, then either your STB needs upgrade , or the panel is faulty and should get it fixed , or switched.
I am about to buy this set tommorrow. Basically selling my Dell 2405FPW 24" lcd panel to get this, mainly for bigger viewing area on Xbox 360, plus I wont need to upgrade my video card as the native res isn't 1900x1200 like on the Dell.
Anyway I have 2 questions :
1. Would the best way to connect the 360 be via the component inputs ? They support 720p.
2. The DVI output is HDCP compatible but the HDMI one isn't. Won't that be a problem in the future as I hear more stuff will support HDMI/HDCP. I guess for Windows Vista DVI/HDCP is the way to go.
3. How is windows at 1300x768...is it blocky, pixellated ?
thanks

1) I don't own a XBOX360, but from what I have read in many posts , the best is with VGA and then with component.
2) the HDMI input IS HDCP compatible as is the DVI also. There was some compatibility issues with only 2 DVD playes which are no more since they are corrected with the new firmware ver.3.70
Since you will be buying tomorrow I would bet you will get a panel with bios version 3.70 . But in any way apart from the 2 DVD players that were not compatible with viewing PAL HDCP content through HDMI on the earlier bios versions , ther has been no other problem, so it might as well be a fault on the DVD player's side. In any case this is a problem solved.
3) 1360 x768 through DVI on this panel is like this :
Great...thanks for the info....buying with confidence so :)
yeah...there are 2 camps on the whole xbox 360 thing.
lots of people say vga gives a slightly better picture then component but the colors are washed out. vga cables for the 360 are rarer then hens teeth at present, and as my Dell LCD is 1920x1280 native and the 360 component can do 1080i, this was a better option then the lower res vga cable. However seeing as the native res. of the LG is 1366x768 and the vga cable supports 1360x768 (16:9), this seems like the perfect match, considering the component cable would be running at 1280x720 and would have to stretch the screen.
<edit> Doh..the LG doesnt have a dsub, just dvi, so component it is for the 360 as I will need the DVI for the PC....The only thing that concerns me is the lack of real estate when surfing over the lower screen res, oh..and the fact the PS3 is supposed to support 1080p which my Dell does (but not sure if the PS3 will use hdmi to support that (which my Dell obviously does not have)</edit>
well component IS really good for picture quality. Don't forget to fiddle with the needed settings on the Xbox AND the panel in case of using the VGA.The panel has settings regarding the VGA input that makes you think that is a computer monitor. The image quality between 720p and 1080i is almost the same. So you could set the xbox for 1080i too and have a great picture also. For now you can have a blast with the Xbox360 and the component, and later on you can see how it is with the VGA too.
EDIT: Well there are all sorts of cables and adaptors to custom fit your needs: For example you can connect the PC to the HDMI port ( the panel SUPPORTS PC over HDMI, you can even choose the colourspace between HDMI-PC and HDMI-AV ).
Then you can connect the Xbox to the DVI usind DVI to DSUB adapter.
About the PS3 , well we'll have to wait until it comes. For now there is no other panel that comes as equipped as this one. 1080p would be nice, but I love the image quality I get and espetially with digital sources. I would like firstly to get enough of 720p and 1080i , so...
About the real estate on lower res : The panel is like a PC LCD monitor. There is no lack of the real eatste in lower resolutions, the image is scalled to fit the screen and it does so in an exellent way.
Sorry...but the VGA is through a DVI connection on the LG...Is it ? Or is there both ? I thought there was no Dsub connector. The reason I ask is over the DVI is going to be used for my PC.
Also would running at 1080i on the LG be beneficial. The 360 upscales from 720p to 1080i, and the LG would then take that input via component and downscale it to 720p. Wouldn't a straight 720p setting on the 360 be more beneficial. Hmmm...the more I think about it, the more I wonder should I keep my Dell for the 360, as it takes the 1080i signal and displays it perfectly with no upscaling or downscaling.
look Upper post
The panel has no DSUB input. It has DVI and HDMI. They both work with PC. So you can connect the PC in every possible way
Great....thanks for that.
So I use a VGA/DVI adaptor plug, that will allow me to plug the 360 cable into the dvi port.
And for the PC I use the DVI/HDMI cable that comes wit the TV ??
nope, with the TV comes DVI-DVI and DVI-VGA cables. DVI to HDMI you can buy seperately.
I don't know what is so special about the VGA cable for xbox, that you can't use the DVI-VGA cable that comes with the panel..The xbox does have a VGA output right?
Also there is no limitation on accepting 1080i through the component of the panel.
Nope..it is a proprietry connection on the 360 end. The vga cable that is.
On accepting 1080i on the component on the LG, with a 360, it will just get scaled back down to 720p again as the LG cant output 1080i, so I think it would be better to set the 360 to output 720p instead.
1080i will not be scalled down to 720p it wil be scalled to the native resolution of the panel ( 1366x768) . I have read comments regarding the xbox viewed in 1080i with this panel and they make me wanna go and buy one myself.
Yeah...that's what I mean to say....1366. You get my gist anyway.
Actually I have to decide now.
I basically got an interest free option on one of these LG's but this would require selling the 2405FPW.
Not a huge PC gamer anymore (mainly 360), but the LG at a relatively low res of 1366 (pc gaming wise anyway) will allow me to play almost anything on my 7800GT with full eye candy. No need to upgrade video or invest in SLI at this res. Concerned though at how the Windows desktop res drop from 1920x1200 to 1300x768 will look, plus using a screen so big up so close in windows - what implications that would have for eyesight in general. And last but not least there is the PS3 which will support 1080p...if games come out at that res (no guarantee of that I suppose) then the Dell would be the better option. Then again the PS3 could use hdmi for all I know which the Dell does not have. Come to think of it, I would not be able to watch highdef movies on the Dell either due to lack of hdcp support.
Leaving outside the obvious benefits of watching TV on the LG and hdcp support, I guess what I am asking is whether I should keep the Dell for the benefit of higher res in gaming, or get the LG for pure screen area. The screen is actually going to be used in a bedroom on a PC table :) So maybe 32" is overkill.
Well to me the PC experience is greatly enchanced using the 32LX2R. My PC LCD monitor is 1280x1024 and all my games are played in this resolution. But using the 1360x768 for windows and also gaming seems to my eyes ..better! The gaming is so much better. It is more cinematic ( well 16:9 makes big difference ) and also the colours and contrast are amazing. I would not recoment to use this panel from close distance, the eye strain would be significant. Also the panel is REALLY bright, so you better not be too close to it. If you are going to use it as a PC monitor ( well Xbox display too ) I would say , go for the 26XL2R.
This way you could sit closer , but again , not as close as to a normal PC monitor. The resolution should appear even more detailed , and the money you would pay would be much less. HDMI and HD content in general appears to be very important and a panel is future proof when it provides you those. But on the other hand I would not say that this technology is exactly blooming...As for the PS3, well as, I said, we'll wait and see. Maybe by the time it arrives all the facts concerning the LCD panels ( specifications and prices ) will be very much changed and then whatever you bought before would look trash. Do what fits your present and near future needs.
Thanks for the info....I am going to go ahead and get the 32" tommorrow and a friend is buying my Dell 2405 on Tuesday. The only feature I see missing is a digital tuner, but we don't have any digital terrestrial channels in Ireland yet anyway.
Regarding PC gaming, I am coming from an SLI setup at 1920x1200, 1000:1 contrast and that was truly AMAZING...16:10 I admit, but quite a few games supported it or could be forced to run this way. However I spent all my time obsessing about framerates and benching while I found the 360 games and Xbox live way more entertaining, so the PC (which is down to just 1 card now) is never used for gaming anymore and is strictly an internet machine. I will probably stick media centre on it, and use my wirelss keyboard and mouse and sit back a bit. But for gaming on the 360, the wireless controller can't be beat as it allows me to truly sit back and take it all in :)
One more question - any reports of dead pixels...this worries me alot. One guy in the shop said he would take it back, the other didn't if this happened, so I need to confirm this tommorrow.
<edit> If I end up with an old firmware which won't play hdmi for pal (even though I have no hdmi gear to test with), how do you upgrade the firmware</edit>
Bios upgrade : You simply phone the LG service of your area and they upgrade it for you.
Ok...I got the TV today and it's awesome...very happy with it. A bit brighter then my 2405fpw but I can live with it, and am getting used to the lower res, and lack of space on the desktop as a result. Xbox 360 is a hell of a lot of fun, and it's great to be able to watch TV too :)
One problem, and it sort of bugs me...there is a stuck read pixel right in the middle of the screen. It looks quite big because I guess the res is only 1360, and it very noticeable when browsing, and also shows up in the Xbox 360 interface. Not in games or watching movies. Now the shop said I could return within 7 days for ANY reason, and they have 1 LG left. Should I leave things as are (considering I could get a worse one) or should I chance an exchange ?

If it's truly a stuck pixel and not a dead one, this program may help: http://udpix.free.fr/
Thanks for the link. Will give it a go. Actually I don't know if its stuck or dead to be honest. Its just a red dot that shows up on every colour except black. Come to think of it I can notice it all the time now, even watchin TV.
If the program does not help, is it worth trying another LG, knowing that I could be getting more then 1 stuck or dead pixel ? I guess what I am asking is how common are stuck / dead pixels on TV's. I was kind of surprised as my Dell 2405 had none as was 1920x1200. This is only 1366x768.
I just gave it a quick run, and on every color its visible except black and red.
stop thinking about it and get another panel
Yeah...and then what happens if I get on with 3 stuck pixels :) I was just wondering how common this sort of thing is on LCD TV's. Happens on PC LCD's all the time.

Did you run the "repair" function?
Flash window: 1
Flash size: 5x5 (you could use 1x1 if you can place the box on the single stuck pixel).
Flash interval: use the default
Hit start
This is the part of the tool I don't like and why I would start with a 5x5 box. Once you hit start search the display screen for a flickering box then move your mouse over the box (cursor will turn to crosshair) and drag the box to the stuck pixel area. Now just let it run. This is not a 5 minutes process. Some ppl let it run as long as 8 hours IIRC, but it also fixed the stuck pixel. Obviously YMMV.
I have the opposite problem with may 26LX1D. I have 1 dead pixel in the red panel. But since it is uses in my bar area and not as a computer display I've decided not to let it bother me since it isn't noticeable when viewing TV. However if I were to use it as a computer display device it would drive me nuts.
since you can return the panel within 7 days, just do it. If the next panel is faulty too, do it again. The faulty ones are a minoriy , so your chances are with a good one.
I would never bear even a sub pixer struck ( knock on wood ).
Update : the pixel turned out to be dead not stuck.
Brought it back and they said because it was opened they wouldnt exchange unless there was a defect and 1 dead pxiel doesnt count. The only way they would replace is if I bought the warranty. So I ended up buying the warranty (about 279 euro). At least its a 3 year warranty and covers accidental damage, so at least if I was devious in 3 years time I could "upgrade" for nothing.
Anyway, the replacement LG had 3 dead pixels. They had none other in stock. Tried 2 Samsungs in a row...dead pixels. In the end I paid a little extra and got a Sonia Bravia....no dead pixels whatsover. The picture to be honest is superior on the Bravia to my eyes...at least for TV, and my 360, but the PC plains sucks. I am using the dvi to hdmi cable (shop gave it to me for free) and in every resolution it looks like 16bit colour and the fonts are terrible. The url address bar is almost impossible to read. I am going to try the vga cable now, and if that is ok I will settle for that. Surprised the windows picture is so bad. Maybe there is a driver for this monitor as my ATI X1600 seemed to pick up the LG perfectly.
Just tried the vga cable...max it will go to is 1280x768 but you can stretch the screen to fill it. However stretched or 1:1 pixel there is loads of wavy lines. Made sure speaker wwre plugged out, no other cables around the place, tv ariel out etc... Don't have another vga cable to try but dropping it to 1024x768 sorted it. Don't mind as only use PC now for torrents and browsing. At least it means I wont have to upgrade my video card if I want to play games :)
well Flanno, sorry to hear that you had such bad luck... The Bravia is NOT the panel I would buy exactly because of the way it works with the PC. If you read the manual it says that YOU CAN NOT USE HDMI FOR PC. and on the VGA you can get up to only 1280x768.
If you need more info on this panel there are excellent threads in this forum about it.
Good luck mate. Sorry you didn't get to use the 32LX2R..I am sure you would have loved it.
EDIT : there is no 1:1 pixel mapping on the Bravia..and the waving effect you get is just because of that: the stretching of the image.
Thanks for the info Orc. Saves me faffing around with cables now. It seems grand at 1024. No waving. Will do me for web and stuff. I didn't know about not using the pc for hdmi (as they had it set up in the shop that way, although it looked pants to be honest), and I am only after seeing the limitation on the vga output in the maual now. Seems strange I get no waving effects at 1024, but plenty at 1280.
Was watching a movie a minute ago, and noticed some very very bad streaking. I got this panel as that is all they had with no dead pixels, and the picture is amazing. I assumed it would be up the job response wise. Must try the 360 now in more detail, just to check.
Nevertheless ( excluding the digital ports , the 1:1 pixel mapping and the ability to use both HDMI and DVI on all resolutions with a PC or AV, like the 32LX2R ), the bravia trully is a great panel for movies.
You will find tons of info if you do a search for Bravia in this forum. I had read them myself long before I decided to go with the LG.
Cheers. The blurring is due to our crummy low res broadcasts over here. I tried out some fast moving 360 games and notcied zero ghosting, despite Toms Hardware measuring the response time at 50ms !!!

Can the 32LX1D do 1:1 pixel mapping.? I know the models are a little different but someone here is unable to do it:http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=639618
Any thoughts or help of things to try?

That is from the user's manual that can be found on the LG website. So it would appear not, especially as I had no luck with it.
I would recommend reading the User's Manual for the set, it can be found via this page: User's Manual (http://us.lge.com/Product/proddetail.jhtml?qs=pr|tv||search|0000000102|1000000488|0000 000001|0000000001|3|17|1|10||)

You appear correct. I found the 32LX2R manual (LG UK) and it DOES list 1366x768 as a supported resolution but the 32LX1D (LG US) does NOT. Now why would LG do that?
Did you try using a display utility such as powerstrip with the LX1D? If not, I'll give it a try on my 37LP1D and 25LX1D.
hmm that's odd... I would suppose that this panel would do 1:1 pixel mapping for the native resolution, or for 1360 x768, like the 32LX2R does...
Maybe you need to update your VGA, drivers, and use DVI or DVI-HDMI cable , and then see what happens...
I saw that the user having trouble with the 1:1 pixel mapping , was messing with the service menu and was after the overscan options.. maybe he fiddled smth wrong?
Anyway I am writting this using my 32LX2R at 1360x768 1:1 . ;)
Lord_Spectre 02-25-06, 06:37 PM Ehh, got into the service menu but couldn't find anything usefull or labeled in a way that meant anything to me so I didn't mess with anything. I just think for some reason the US panels, at least the 32LX1D doesnt support 1:1 mapping. I don't know why they would say otherwise in their user manual. I didnt feel like messing with powerstrip because a good panel should be able to map 1:1 without an extra program running and using up resources on my computer.
Despite my Bravia manual saying that 1280x768 is the max res through vga, I was able to make some adjustments in the ATI control centre (basically enable 720p and 1080i options for HDTV). This allowed me to select 1360x768. It doesn't quite fill the screen so I have turned on stretching but a huge improvement over the previos max of 1024x768.
Regardless of the resolution you select from the ATI panel, your image is downscaled to 1280x768 from the Bravia.
Why does 1280x768 visually look different from 1360x768 then, if the 1360 is scaled down to 1280. No...I think it is 1360 for sure, but the fonts look a bit off. And 1280 brings out what I can only describe as a sort of magnetic interference in the background. And for some reason 1280x720 will not display. It's back to 1024 I'm afraid.
Also, there is a blasted watermark on the bottom of the tv now. I am told by people I know in work who work on notebook LCD's that it is caused by excess torque when the bezel is being fitted to the panel. All I know is it looks like someone has smudged the panel and light is leaking through. I can only see it from an angle so the shop might not exchange this time. They said if they do, they only have the Samsung LE32T51B. Any idea how this compares to the Bravia. I get the impression it's the older Samsung model and not as good from speaking with other people.
Flanno, if you search this forum for Bravia and read ALL the threads you will see that people have been confirming this since long time now. The Bravia can only go up to 1280 x 768. You can not see 1360 x 768 with this panel. I had made a big research about this panel because I was going to buy it. I turned it down for a number of reasons, and mainly because of the lack of DVI for PC use and the fact that it can not do better than 1280 x 768.
I was then looking towards Samsung, but I turned it down because it had the opposite problem: It could ONLY show 1360x 768 but not lower resolutions...
At that time ,I had been trying to locate a SHARP AQUOS of the previus line because it was one of the very few panels to do 1:1 pixel mapping through DVI. Thank God I did not find one because after some time a new panel appeared : LG 32LX2R .
When I saw the specifications I could not believe that a panel was made just like I had it ordered.. So I know when I tell you , Bravia is good for films, not even close to LG for PC resolutions, 1:1 pixel mapping, and digital connections.
Now having the panel in front of me, I must say it is the best thing I have ever bought.
Actually I had one of these LG's for a day, and in my view there is not a night and day difference between the LG's 1360x768 through DVI and Sony's 1280x768 through VGA. They were both good. However as 1280 is unusable over the blasted banding / patterns in the background, and 1360 does not scale the fonts properly, I am using 1024. Sucks. But I can put up with it for the browsing/email/divx playback I do. Planning to install media center tonight so that should help somewhat.
But getting back to my question, if the Sony can do a max of 1280x768 according to the manual, then why is it my ATI panel reports 1360x768 and the icons are actually smaller...the screen has noticably more desktop area ? Maybe I am wrong, but the only thing I have seen to support 1280 in these forums is what is written in the Sony manual.
You also mention the Bravia is not close to LG for digital connections. What do you mean exactly. Lack of dvi I guess. But the bravia does have hdmi at least.
I am half thinking of bringing it back and getting a Samsung 40" LCD anyway. Are the panels in the entry level Samsungs better or worse then the Bravia ?
<edit> When I had the LG I ran it at 1360x768 but it didn't fill the screen over the native res being 1366. With the Sony, if I run at 1024x768, using the 1:1 mode, then it doesn't fill the screen either unless I select Fill 2. So are not both of these screens mapping the pixels 1 for 1 ? </edit>
frottage 02-28-06, 09:40 AM But getting back to my question, if the Sony can do a max of 1280x768 according to the manual, then why is it my ATI panel reports 1360x768 and the icons are actually smaller...the screen has noticably more desktop area ? Do you have kids? I so, have them count the pixels and enjoy the peace and quiet for half a day :D
I must admit I remembered wrong : The XBR Bravias can go up to 1360 x 768. It is the "S: models that are limited to 1280 x 768.
A lot of great info is in this thread from the 7nth page on about 1:1 pixel mapping on the Bravias :

Cheers
Things have gone from bad to worse. Playing COD2 on this panel truly sucks. The ghosting has actually got so bad, that is is headache inducing. So I am going back with it at lunch time today. Their engineer will look at it, but I told em I want a different model. Preferably the LG with zero dead pixels this time :) Or maybe a Sammy. Will have to see.
I returned it today. The smearing/ghosting on COD2 has got much much worse. And the 'watermark' on the edge of the screen is annoying me now. The engineer who visits the shop will check it tommorrow. I made sure to write down what my problem with the lcd is and instructed the shop to makes sure he sees the lcd with the lights dimmed as the watermark is hard to spot. I get the impression that he is so busy he won't even bother checking the smearing issue. If it comes to it I will go to Sony. And if no luck there, I can always leave the TV in the shop and refuse payment on my credit card.
Assuming all goes well, I am planning to get a Samsung panel now. The LE40R51B. Only slightly more expensive then the Sony. I saw the bulletin from Samsung about 720p and 60hz causing tearing. The shop said they did a recall for 26 and 32" models before Xmas but not 40" models. They got a new delivery in yesterday, so I wonder is their a risk of this tearing. I told them I want it checked along with dead pixels and even brought a copy of the Samsung bulletin with me. By the way, has anyone used this panel for Xbox 360 gaming. I think the smaller 32" version is the one that are in the 360 pods in the shops.
The quest continues for a working LCD TV.
The tearing issue was resoled some time ago with firmware update, so it will be no problem for you. Overall the Samsungs are very good panels. The 32 inch I was interested in, had very good picture quality, but again the PC mode was limited to only 1360 x768 , so no lower resolutions are supported. The truth is I can't see how this is possible, but nevertheless it kept me away from this panel. I think that the Samsung is a better buy over Sony, but the LG is the best.
Well I got the Samsung. The shop manager had a real attitude problem saying something MAJOR better be wrong with this if I wanted to return it!! I reminded him the extender cover I took out covers even 1 dead pixel :)
Anyway, the screen is huge. Probably too big for my bedroom. Sitting back 5 feet on the bed typing this. Gaming is awesome....definitely less ghosting, though still there in COD2. But everytyhing else fine. NO tearing. PC mode is interesting. I set it to `1360x768, and it filled the screen. Everything looks in correct proportion to me, and there are some options to fine tune the screen, plus an auto adjust option. Very happy with it. The LG was clearer though, no doubt.
And now for the bad, the LG and Sony had much more even lighting - one corner of the Sammy has a good deal of backlight bleeding. Doesn't bother me. There is also 1 dead pixel on the left side of the screen. Not noticeable at all from where I sit, so I don't think I will bother returning it.
By the way, what do people make of the Samsung HD upsampling / DivX / DVD player. Only 130 euro and comes with a hdmi to hdmi lead. Hopefully an improvement over the 360 which I notice quite a lot of noise on.
The dvd player you are asking about, is a major hit.
Might pick it up today, as I need something that can play all my DivX's.
As I said the 1 dead pixel does not bother me too much but of course I wish it wasn't there. I looked at the shops Sammy and 2 others in 2 different shops and they all had at least 1 dead or stuck pixel each. Plus the 32" Sammy's (which I saw 3 of) also had the same issue. So I wonder is there any point in bringing it back and trying another one, considering what I have been through so far. The insurance I have does cover dead pixels allright. But this would be my 4th set and those guys are getting really chessed off at this stage.
If I were you nothing could stop me from trying to get a panel without dead pixel. You paid so much money and on top you paid for the extra insurance ESPECIALLY for such case. I suggest you get a bit more aggressive and DEMAND a perfect panel, or your money back. the retailer should know his job, and as there are customers that can pay all those money to end up with defective panels without complaining, also there are customers that demand to simply have what they paid for. So if I was you , I would immediately demand a new and perfect panel. Tell them you will keep swapping until you get one. If they don't like that, they can return your money back , and keep their insurance.
Went back to shop this afternoon.
I have 3 choices now :
1. Live with 1 dead pixel.
2. Return for refund - I paid half by credit card, other half was finance.
3. They can order another one from their warehouse direct to my house after the engineer verifies a dead pixel. The problem with this, is before they used carry a no. in stock. Since the special offer is over they are not holding stock and ordering on demand. This means it would take a week to get a new one, and seeing as 3 of them I have seen (my own and 2 in the shop) had 1 dead or lazy pixel, I guess the odds are good so will this one. And I don't want to spend weeks and weeks getting replacements. A lof of hassle.
I may go for the refund. I will visit a few shops at lunchtime tommorrow to see if they would be willing to let me try my notebook on the panel before buying. What you reckon ? Do most retailers allow this sort of thing ? I'm guessing not as it means opening the packaging.
Flanno understand : this is YOUR MONEY and they are not small amount either. If you show up ready to buy , they will let you test the panel you wish to buy. I agree : get your money back, and try another shop. And have a look again on the LG ( personal opinion ;) )
Before I return it, I will try the other shops to sound them out about try before I buy. cheers.
By the way, after a couple days browsing on the Samsung, the vga connection is total crap and headache inducing. The LG like you said was superior.
Well, returned it today and got refund.
Went into another store, decided this time on a 32" (the 40 was just too big) and shop assistant went through 3 of them (1 LG and 1 Samsung), all with at least 1 dead pixel each. I eventually settled on the display Samsung 32", which had no dead pixels whatsoever. They even brought it into their PC clinic and hooked up a dead pixel checker. Plus I got 200 euro off for it being a display model. Happy at last. Now I just have to figure what is up with my pc as every panel I have had has had wavy lines at 1360x768.
ok man, I hope this is a happy ending to your adventures :)
This something to let you all know:
It is a known problem of incompatibility between the LG and the Denon 1920 . It concenrs only HDCP content of PAL DVDs through HDMI. LG is aware of this problem and has released bios updates that take care of it. The bios that need to be installed is the latest ( version 3.71 ) although LG said that bios version 3.70 also eliminates the problem. Further more I read that DENON has resently released bios upgrade for the 1920 model, that improves HDMI compatibillity. So I suggest before trying to upgade the firmaware of the LG , better try upgrading the Denon player first :)
WOW !! I'm so happy ! Today I received my DVI to HDMI cable and connected my PC to the HDMI port of the panel. I was very pleased to see it behaves exactly like the DVI port.
It is awsome to have 2 digital ports that can be used with all the digital sources. :)
I remember the early days of my searches about the DVI - HDMI connection between PC and panels , and all the crazy problems that people have trying to make it work., using powerstrip and all kinds of timings and resolutions...
Well with this panel connecting your PC to the HDMI is exactly like connecting it to the DVI and has the exact same results: Digital, crystal, detailed 1:1 pixel mapped picture !
YAY :D
Today I ran some testing to figure out the DVI and HDMI behaviour when I connect my PC to them
So when I connect my PC to the panel using DVI to DVI or DVI to HDMI , the picture quality is exactly the same. Also when it is the pc connected feeding signal from ATI's DVI , changing between PC or DTV mode makes no differnce in either DVI or HDMI ports of the panel. This is logical because it is a digital connection and so, all is done automatically.
BUT connecting my sucky DVD player which features DSUB output to the panels, DVI port, using the VGA to DVI cable that came with the panel, I was able to see difference when changing between DVI PC and DVI DTV modes. The PC mode was more smooth and a bit darker, and the DTV mode was more bright I would say a bit over exposed, but in a way that does not destroy the whole image, just makes the colours to come out more.
So the conclution is that Digital sources have the exact same image in both ports ( HDMI and DVI ) regardless of the mode you set the ports ( PC or DTV).
If you use DSUB VGA from PC or DVD , then you will notice difference between those two modes.
One more detail is that the program moninfo showed that the HDMI has much more recommended resolutions listed than the DVI port, which makes no practical difference because on both ports you can use all the resolutions up to the native resolution of the panel. It just means that the EIDIT info is richer in HDMI mode ( maybe I got it wrong). On the other hand using the HDMI pot, I have to manually adjust the resolution of the desktop to 1360 x768 , because at startup. as soon as the drivers kick in, the picture is ruined. With the panel痴 DVI I get no such behaviour. I still have to manually change the desktop resolution to 1360 x 768 but the image is not ruined , at the beginning , when the drivers load. But anyway it doesn稚 bother me. After I set the resolution to what I want it, I never have to correct it again, even if I turn off the PC, or reboot it.
Hope this info helps :D
Insaniac 03-20-06, 12:53 PM Im about to buy the 26" version of this LG to my bedroom, so I can watch TV and connect it to my computer, which is placed in my bedroom too.
After Orcエs description of this TV I cant wait. Think I will order it from German in 3 weeks.
Though I have a simpel question. The TV comes with a food, but is it possible to unmount it so the TV can be hanged on the wall?
Which "wall-equipment" (dont know the word in english) can you recommend, when I want to hang the TV on the wall and can angle it about 30 degrees to each side and also flip it up and down?
Hey man! I hope you get your 26" LG and you enjoy it !
To answer your question: YES you can take off the stand of the panel and put it on your wall. You need to find a wall mound that fits the panel of course. Do a little googling for wall mounts and you will find some good ones. I don't know what specific type of wall mount must be used for the 26" model though.
Insaniac 03-21-06, 08:14 AM Sounds gut, but one more thing. On a danish forum I have read a lot about people having troubles with their LX2R when it shows bright colors. It starts to buzz / make noise from the TV.
Have you experienced this?
I have read such posts, but they are very rare. I Don't have any buzz with my LG, and so the majority of other users. If it happens and your set makes the buzz noise, be sure you can return it. Before you buy it, talk with the people of the store you will buy it from, and ensure that you can return it if you have any problem.

doveman 10-05-06, 01:51 PM Hi
A friend's just bought a 32LX2R and wants me to help make sure it's set up correctly. He's connected his PC's Radeon X740 graphics card to the TV with the DVI-DVI cable and that's working fine.
He only wants to use the TV for gaming (mainly letting other people watch, while he plays using his CRT) and video playback, using his CRT monitor for everything else, so am I right in thinking that the TV should be the secondary device running at 1360 x 768 and Overlay mode options should be Theater, Same as Source, 16:9? He can have his Primary CRT monitor running at a different res to his TV can't he?
Whilst 1360 x 768 is great for playing 720p video files, what happens with 1080i or 1080p files? I guess the TV must scale them down to fit but that would defeat the point of playing such files wouldn't it?
Are there any settings, other than Brightness and Contrast, that should be tweaked on the TV for optimum quality?
majosan 11-16-06, 09:51 AM Yesterday I bought the Lg 26lx2r. The only problem I have is with the quality of the secondary image when using PIP. (it is even mentioned in the manual, page 51)
Basically, if I have my PS2 connected to the TV through component cables, it looks great and bright and colorful. However, if I use the PS2 as the secondary image (right side on DW2 for example), it looks a lot worse. This is true whenever it is the secondary image in all PIP types (normal PIP, DW1 or DW2).
Its funny too, because I can have the PS2 on the main window (left side on DW2), and it looks great, and then I swap it to secondary and you can see the difference right away.
My question is, do I have to live with this? Is there a way to fix it? (i am guessing it is more tweaking/software related than hardware related).
Is there a way to fix this through the service menu?
Also, is there a guide that explains what each function in the service menu does? (the only thing I've changed so far is making the bars black instead of gray).
I would really appreciate a quick answer, since I just bought it and can return it if need be.
Boba_Fett 11-27-06, 09:42 AM Hello everybody,
Sorry for my English wish is not perfect (I'm French).
I have a problem with my brother in law's LG 32LX2R.
I can't have a picture when connecting his PC to the LCD with DVI. I tried with many cables and nothing happened.
Nvidia's drivers doesn't detect the LCD and I have to force the driver to do it but without any result...
However when I try with a VGA -> DVI cable, it worked ! But only up to 1024 x 768 ! If I try more, the result is awful (strange for a panel which support 1366 x 768 )
My last hope is to try with a DVI to HDMI adapter...
What's the problem ? Do you thing that his DVI port on the TV is dead ???
Thank you for your answers. :)
angrybob 12-10-06, 05:14 AM Hi guys, I've been having real trouble getting my 1920 HDMI to work with my LG 32LX. After spending all day pulling cables through walls i now find that my shiny DVD player doesn't want to play ball, it is connected to my LG32LX via a new HDMI cable that i purchased today, i have only ever connected my DVD player to my TV via svideo and assumed that it would be a matter of plug and play with the new cable....not quite.
I cannot get any kind of signal on the TV, all connections are good, it works on svideo fine, but when i change the TV input to HDMI DTV i get the no signal message. The HDMI indicator light does go on and off slowly but randomly, this is different to when i unplug the HDMI cable completely and get the obvious flashing that the manual describes. I have reached the limit of my knowledge and could really do with some help on this ppppleassssseeee any one!!
Have read through this thread and it appears there are some issues that can be resolved but im not familiar with firmware etc, Or maybe there is another way of getting it to work ??

sflattuk 01-10-07, 12:45 PM Hi there,
I have the 26inch version and have done for just under a year.
I tried to connect this to my pc when i first got it but dvi would not work so i settled for vga, assuming it was a bad gfx card (was old). Recently bought a new x1950pro and can connect to my lg via dvi, the problem i have is it as soon as i try to go for 1280 x 768 I get pretty bad horizontal flicker, it works fine in 1024 x 768 and i don't have the 1366 option.
I am using the standard supplied cable.
Does anyone have any ideas?
My moninfo is below and i notice it does not state the manafactur....
Thank you

Hi,
Sorry for my english too :) (Iエm brazilian).
Well, i have the same problem with my tv. When use a dvi/dvi cable, only works at 1024 x 768 with no vga drivers installed. It works in security mode too (os windows xp).
With the drivers (vga ati x800xl - newest catalyst driver) doesnエt work. The image dissapear. I donエt know why.
When i use dvi/vga cable it works perfectly (but i turn the tv after windows xp is loaded) at 1360 x 768, but the colors are bad.
I think is firmware problem because other friends have success with this model.
Hugs,
Ricardo

bubba16 07-20-07, 04:58 AM Hi there!
Is this thread still alive?
I have just bought a 32LB1R, similar to the one you are discussing. I played aroud with the RGB cable I got with it, and now, I am back at TV source - analog cable TV - . My problem is with the Spectacle mode: the screen does not expand any more with wide screen movies:( however, it used to work. Can anyone help me?

Northy124 05-26-08, 03:26 PM hey everyone
I've had the LG 32LX2R since 2006, but am now only starting to look into it deeply as to what features it has so a couple of questions:
1. Does it have a freeview tuner as I read somewhere it does but I can't check it as I lost the address & also the LG website is no help when looking for support as it appears not to be listed.
2. SKY some times it cuts part of the picture off is it a SKY box issue or the TV's issue, I should be getting SKY HD soon so that should sort it out yes? I connect the SKY box like this SKY box scart > Panasonic VCR/DVD Combo (With upscaler & HDMI) > HDMI out to the TV.
Any help of the above questions would be great.

dissapointed 11-18-08, 01:49 PM Hello everyone
A google search shows that this is possibly the best place to post my question as LG don't really want to help!
I purchased an LG 32LX2R from Comet a couple of years ago and paid 」999 for it (ouch!). There was method to my madness as I was due to buy a High Def camcorder and opted for the canon HV20.
When I first connected the camcorder into the TV via the HDMI cable, it would only play at 720P. If I connected the camcorder via the red, green and blue phono cables I would get 1080i which showed a fuller more crisp picture.
Because I was a little confused I took my camcorder and lead to Comet (about 3 months later) and asked their advice, they plugged it into a 40" LG model via HDMI and sure enough 1080i showed up. This made me think my TV was duff, so I called LG and they said that my camcorder was only outputting at 720P?
Basically I've just got on with it until now, because I have just bought a Playstation 3 and coupled it to the TV via HDMI cable and set the PS3 to set up automatically, it tells me it can get 1080i and saves its setting to this. However the tv is only showing 576P and when I put a disk or game in to play, the TV shuts down!!!
I took the PS3 to my brothers house and plugged it in (same hdmi cable) and I got 1080i on his sony bravia.
Is there a problem with the HDMI input, is it repairable?
My wife is never going to let me buy a new TV (i'd love a full 1080P) and I'm stuck with a HD blue ray player that only plays at 576P on a 1080i tv!
Any suggestions?
The kindest of regards
Eddie
danatoakhill 03-23-09, 05:38 PM Hi all,
Been reading with interest even if it's a few years later!
I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I've just bought one of these from ebay for 」40 described as faulty because the colours were mucked up. The picture was really blue and changing the normal settings didn't affect it.
I found out about the menu trick and reset the factory settings in the service menu which worked a treat and now I've got a good picture.
Problem is, text on things like dvd titles and digital program guide is quite pixelated, thought images seem to be still fairly good.
What I really need is for anyone who's got a good picture set up on this tv to let me know all their service menu settings and also the normal menu settings would help too!
I know this is a big ask, but I'm wanting to tweak all the settings to perfect the picture, but not really sure where to start!
Unless this is alreay on the net somewhere? Or in a manual someone can point me towards?
I'd be eternally grateful!
Thanks all,
Dan

I found out about the menu trick and reset the factory settings in the service menu which worked a treat and now I've got the right colours.
Problem is, text on things like dvd titles and digital program guide is quite pixelated and has abit of 'noise' around it, though images seem to be still fairly good.
What I really need is for anyone who's got a good picture set up on this tv to let me know all their service menu settings, either with some nifty screen shots, of just a list. I really want to tweak all the service menu settings to the best picture, but don't know what half of them mean!

Hi I have this television and until recently it was working fine. The TV is an LG 32LX2R. Basically, we had a power cut and since then the television will not work at all. I have heard that these tv's have an internal fuse, does anyone know if this is true and where it might be housed?
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Lee
