Hello,

I would love to be able to add this site to my RSS reader. The news posted on the front page is often interesting, and it would be great to have such easy access to them.

If this is already available, and I didn't see it, please just point me in the right direction.

Thanks!!

It's a feed of the latest posts...

That's just user posts from all sections though, right? I would have to wade through even more stuff to find useful stuff there.

Is there a place that has a list of feeds for different forum rooms? That would also be nice.

But, it's mostly the front page that I want - if possible.

Hi...

I am sorry, but this is all the software offers.

Is there anything in the works to allow for more detailed rss feeds? (An update for the software perhaps?)

Not currently.

Can't help you with the "front page news" but if you want a feed of just specific forums you can add &forumids to the previously mentioned RSS URL.

Example
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=86
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=89
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=91

This would get you a feed of the "Ultra High End HT Gear" forum (86), the "Speakers" forum (89), and the "Audio Theory and Chat" forum (91)

You can lump it all into a single feed too if you'd rather see it that way in your reader.

Example

Nice! Now that we know you can get down to the forum level, it makes sense that you could get a feed for just the thread you're interested in. As in the 'local hdtv and reception" forum has threads for specific geographic areas. I'm not interested in knowing about the problems people are having in AZ, CA, or any other market except mine (Raleigh, NC)

If you want a "feed" for a specific thread, just subscribe to the thread under the "Thread tools". You will get an email each time someone posts to it. I know its not a RSS feed, but it still satisfies the same requirement.

I do subscribe to threads. However, it's not quite the same in my eyes as i only get an email the first time there is a post after iv'e been to the site. If i go to the site, and browse anothe thread/forum, and then later click on an email for a subscribed thread, i quite often miss several posts because the link in the email says to go to 'newposts' and since i've just been browsing the only 'new' post in the subscribed thread is the last one. So, i've got to scroll up and figure out where the post is that's included in the email and then start reading from there.

Plus, having the ability to have the thread displayed within my email browser (Thunderbird) and not having to launch a new tab in firefox is a lot quicker.....

I'd love to see thread feeds too. I follow a few threads closely, but rarely browse the forums themselves.

To get the RSS feeds from the front page, this should work (although I haven't tried it myself yet).

have you looked into RSS feeds on threads lately? I just looked and it seems that it can be enabled?

I just think that it would be really great for this forum, since the forums are huge and so widely used that an forum RSS feed is impossible to read for what you want.

I can follow this all the way but I can't locate any Forum ID numbers anywhere - am I blind??

Go into the forums list and put your mouse over a forum you want to watch and look at the link address. You will find the forum ID at the end.
