I guess I am a little late joining the Tiko party....can someone explain in brief how different is this Tiko intro from all the other ones out there (Digital Forge, DIY intros, slides, etc).

What makes Tiko and CeRT special? Are the characters programmable, or are the same animation sequences rendered for all shipped discs? and can it be rendered in 1080P at 2.35:1 AR?

I dont mind buying multiple intros from different publishers and AVS members, but I am just trying to figure out the value here.

I wish Richard would post a low res video sample or demo of what to expect. I cannot find anything on their website or this thread that completely defines the Bitstream Tiko experience, is it just a pixar-like animation short geared towards showcasing a home theater?

If you go to customintros. com and click on the Tiko image, it'll take you to a Quicktime video of the animation.

**** Update 08/13/08

Now that Tiko is finished and ready to be shipped out we need to iron out a few bugs in the shipping process. Shouldn't take more than a few days to get all the kinks out.

Richard

**** Update 08/20/08

We cannot seem to get the postage situation fixed, will keep you updated.

Richard

**** Update 11/01/08

After the last couple of months we are ready to cut our losses with USPS and go with a different carrier. I am going to go to the mailbox one last time to see if I can get these things mailed.

Richard

**** Update 01/15/09

Sorry for the long delay, I never made it to the mailbox. More to follow.

Richard

**** Update 02/20/09

We are ready to go. I will not say who is going to deliver, but I will give you a code phrase instead: "We mail you stuff and our name rhymes with dedex" Let's see who the smart ones are???

Richard

**** Update 05/01/09

Well now that the guessing game is over, back to business. As most of you figured out... Fedex will be shipping these. For those who figured it out I will be emailing you a special coupon to save you 3.00 off your next purchase of a car.

We have been in the shipping studio all week trying to nail down the actual process of putting the disc in the mail. Also as many of you know we have been running into several problems when we try to actually put the disc in the mail, but fear not... within a week (that's a code too) we will be shipping.

Richard

**** Update 01/28/10

Sorry no posts for a while.

Kudos to the folks that figured out my last code. You were right, if you take "withing a week" divide it by 2 carry the 4 add 15 and then subtract blue... you get 9 months.

**** Update 02/01/10

We have successfully shipped out all of the pre-orders as of today. Let us know what you think.

Richard

**** Update 02/03/10

We are getting responses from you guys that the disc we sent out is only compatible with PAL sets. Looks like we are going back to the drawing board.

More to come.

I had a chance to look at Tiko last night, along with all the extras on the disc. I won't post a long review here (Olympics start in a few minutes), but overall it is a very nice package. Tiko is very cool - the animation is first-class (just like Cert) and the video quality is about what I would expect for a SD DVD (can't wait to receive the Blu-Ray version when that is ready; it should be fantastic). The sound is great - every bit as nice as Cert.

I do have one minor issue with the disc. For almost the entire Tiko video, it looks as though it was shot in 15:9 as opposed to 16:9. By that I mean that there are vertical bars on either side of the video. On my 110" diag 16:9 screen, these bars a just a few inches wide.

Once the personalized part of the video begins, the image changes to 16:9 and fills the entire screen.

This is not a biggie, but I just assumed the entire video would be shot in 16:9.

Otherwise, the trailers and trivia are a nice addition, and I even enjoyed watching the Bitstream Animation trailer!

The Bassimator is pretty cool animation as well.

I had a good laugh when I read it too .... whether it was supposed to be critical or good natured humor, it was pretty darn funny either way. I've been waiting for over a year and a half --- and I know others have waited even longer, so how could anyone NOT find that post humorous? That is just an outrageous amount of time to wait for an intro! (Although, I give Richard credit for offering all the bonus stuff for the pre-orders). I still haven't received my order yet, so until I do, the DedEx theory is gonna scare me. I'm hoping I get my copy tomorrow since other people apparently received theirs.

From a female point of view:
The post was funny but then again not funny.
Not funny in the sense that people have been waiting a long time.
It's kinda like "deja vu" so I think that's why most people didn't post.
It's kinda like putting salt in the wound or maybe jinxing the situation.
Jinxing meaning some people that haven't received their intro yet.

Hello all!

We're burning and shipping orders as fast as we can. I sent another batch out yesterday (35) orders and I'll get more out today. Also, this weekend we should have almost 99% of the custom ones done so hang in there just a little longer as another huge batch will go out on Monday or Tuesday and we'll finally be caught up.

As for the one post, I thought it was funny. Yes it's taken far too long to get this out, some in my control and much not. It's been a learning experience and though very taxing at times, it's been worth it.

What it does show me though is that you all care about our product. Everyone has been fantastic throughout the whole process and to be defended by people on this board and supported by all of you has made it all worthwhile.

Enjoy.

Well... order 1015 (ordered October 23, 2006) has arrived.

I know that everybody gets defensive when people say negative things..... but,

I am disappointed. I also get the black bars on the sides. I understand "viewsafe" and I also know that you can make it so it still fills the screen. Viewsafe is there to help make sure that you are putting text and other important items viewable even for TVs with major overscan.

I also get no sound when viewing the DTS SFX trailer.

It also appears to have interlacing problems. (at least that is what I think it is called) I figure it is an encoding problem because I get none when I watch the trailers.

Other than that... It's kinda neat. Probably won't get too much use until the high def version comes out. My wife (who is not that picky) even mentioned the quality.

Oh well. I look forward to the blu-ray. (hopefully they can combine cert and tiko for us so that we don't have to switch discs, hint hint)

Even though you did get the email, I don't think it was your secret to tell. Hell, I admit I'm selfish... I think new orders should have to work for the easter egg.

In an effort to provide the best possible experience, we're halting production until we can re-encode the video to make sure that the view safe and the resolution is proper to 16:9 sets. While this may vary, we haven't had an issue with CeRT, so we're going to see what to do about Tiko.

That means you'll all be getting another disc once we figure out the best way to ensure proper video. It worked on most of our test sets, but then again I don't want half a solution out there for some, whether or not you use overscan and calibration.

Work will be done this week on it and we will try to have everything shipped out before CEDIA.

As for the DTS problem, it works just fine for us, we can't reproduce what was mentioned. Anyone else having a problem with it?

Just as a point of reference for those having issue with sound. You might want to provide Richard with the DVD player model number as well as the receiver you are using to decode the DTS track. This may help him track down or at least test on similar equipment before shipping out the new ones.

I have no data to provide, as I only own Cert from a couple years ago.

As much as I want mine… I am one who favors getting it right.
I have to admit, when I heard some were having issues with the image not filling the screen while others were having issues with the audio… I was a bit disappointed.

Haven't we all been dissappointed a time or two? and I am no exception. But after all this time and having read all Richard's posts, I sincerely believe that he has made the only decision he can as he struggles to fix the problems. So I say again, Please get it right Richard...I'll wait.

I am very eager to get my new Tiko, and I have not gotten it yet. I did recieve the e-mail saying it was on its way, so I am patiently waiting. My order number was #1118, orderd back in April 6th 2007... it was a custom Message sorry to be so impatient.

clarkeven,

AS noted before we are not shipping now due to the overscan, framing issue for 16:9. We are currently working on it now.

As for the DTS, I've checked both disc masters that were used for those orders and can hear the DTS just fine. Using a Denon DVD player and Denon receiver from about 3 years ago.

I know we are all supposedly AV geeks here, but just a thought. Are the users unable to get sound from the DTS track using the proper setup? I am not making any claims or assumptions, I am just looking for reasoning why the DTS works on the master but not on some of the shipped discs.

I guess what I should have said is I burned a disc, the same as I would ship and the DTS files worked for me. I did that both for the DTS and Dolby version of the generic, since that's what the customers in both cases ordered.

To all:

RichardThanks Richard; I look forward to receiving my replacement disc that will hopefully fix the problem of the image not filling a 16:9 screen. I'll post my results here once I receive the disc.

The CEDIA update I posted still had some bitrate/encoding errors. I actually got to test Tiko on some high end gear a the show, but I'm not allowed to say who. No big deal, but it was fun. We've been working on it and as of this morning, no issues, so we're crossing our fingers. See below for shipping issues. I've also replied to people via email last night and PMs today.

Jeff,

I just replied to you. Vantorax, yours was mailed before I went to CEDIA. I'll find the customs slip and try to track it but it was sent.

Chris Dotur, yours came back as no forwarding address, let me know where to ship your CeRT.

More CeRT is going out today.

Tiko update: We have a workaround for both the black bars and ran into a problem with DTS. Well we finally figured that out this morning after several phone calls to them.

Tiko standard DVDs will resume shipping next week, burning and shipping on Monday. We'll also be reburning every single custom order starting next week as well and those will go out in batches with what gets done each day.

Richard, I just wanted to voice my opinion about this whole ordeal. JOB WELL DONE! I know it has been a long road. We've all had ups and downs with this. Sure it would have been nice to enjoy this product for the past year, but the fact you are doing everything in your power to make sure this product is of the highest quality speaks loud and clear to me. I really appreciate it. Far to often customer service does not last past the point of sale. But you are still trouble shooting and basically eating the cost of correcting this issue. I know of larger companies who make similar products who would not. Again, thanks. Seeing how you handle this gives me comfort that in the furture any business with you would be handled with the same care. I look forward to enjoying Tinko as much as I have enjoyed CeRT over the years.

The encodes look great, no more lines on the side and it looks a tad better than the old version. What we're going to do starting tomorrow is redo every single custom order. Those will be sent out in batches starting next week. The DTS works fine on our system and on two others locally, so if you shouldn't have issues with the DTS trailer.

All standard DVDs will be sent out starting tomorrow. If you ordered a standard edition Tiko (or CeRT lately) expect to have yours at the latest next week in the early part of the week (US of course). Every single standard order should be out by Friday.

Well... order 1015 (ordered October 23, 2006) has arrived.

I got the new version in the mail and it looks like they fixed the video problems! Bars are gone, quality looks 10x better and no more "interlacing" lines.

The DTS still has no sound for me(just on the sfx trailer), but no big deal.

just an FYI: I tried to get sound on both the panasonic BD-30 and the toshiba hd-a35. These are both connected to a pioneer elite vsx-94txh. It might be time to update some of my equipment.

To all:

Well we've been busy creating burning and shipping DVDs this past week and weekend. We're making great headway and a whole bunch of custom DVDs went out now along with all standard ones.

All standard DVDs have been shipped out. We should have every custom one out by Thursday or Friday.

Vantorax: Your new Tiko went out, I will be watching the customs slip to make sure it gets there.

DTS - this is not an error on the disc. It works properly. It's either a bitstream issue or a sound issue on the Blu-ray or HD-DVD players sending audio to the receiver. It's been tested on 5 different DVD /receiver combinations here.

As far as Tiko goes, it's complete and in proper working order. It looks and sounds great.

Thanks for all the positive comments. Not to say this with any amount of glibness, but I'm glad you're all finding it's worth the wait.

Again, for those of you who have not found or don't know where the shark is, email me.

Mike Wiley - you are correct, I haven't had a chance to reply yet. That is where the shark is. Look for your CeRT soon.

JSwarce, I'll look into where your CeRT disc is. If nothing else I'll send a new one out this week.

As for soothing a teething child, my 18 month old niece saw Tiko and she was so taken in by him, we had to play it again and filmed her reaction to it. At the end, she says one of her few words - "more?" It has made everything worthwhile.

One thing people have to bear in mind, while the AVS Forum is aweosme and representes great customers, it doesn't represent hundreds more who have purchased our products. large gaps in shipping or reviews may appear becauze they simply don't know of this place or post here. I do however have an email inbox full of increasingly happy customers.

I am really surprised we are not seeing more exciting reviews about this intro from those who have recieved their Tiko order.
I don't know if this is a good sign or not...?

Very well done with Tiko!

These shots have much more detail in them than the screenshots are showing.

In your very first post you started a contest in which you stated

"Following the success of CeRT hasn't been easy, and though we planned on success, we didn't know just how big CeRT would become. We're working hard on the next releases for our intros with some new faces and some new changes. Best of all, through your emails, we know you're waiting for more!

So in that light, here's a teaser of another intro we have in the works. Can't say a release date yet but it will be part of the next big revolution of DVD (hint hint).

******CONTEST *******

This home theater is actually based off of a certain member's actual theater. The first person to correctly guess the inspirational theater will receive a free copy upon release. All submissions must be through email."

I was just wondering if any one had actually guessed the theater.

Looking forward to getting Tiko. Again thanks for your hard work.

Also on the first page:

Well ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Acutally we have two! The winning entries were so close I decided to award two free intros.

The actual theater owner of this intro (the colors have been changed to protect the innocent) -

Alan Gouger

Oh yeah, he gets a free one too.

Congratulations to Bob (volley) and Steve (sure of hisname on here). I'll be cutting their DVD in half for them to share. Ha ha, I kid.

When it's ready, you guys will be the first to know.

To all:

Well we've been busy creating burning and shipping DVDs this past week and weekend. We're making great headway and a whole bunch of custom DVDs went out now along with all standard ones.

All standard DVDs have been shipped out. We should have every custom one out by Thursday or Friday.

Richard

This was a post from 9-28 ... which would mean "every custom one" should have been shipped by 10-2 or 10-3. It's now 10-15 and still no updates on shipping ... other than this post from Richard on 10-9 (6 days ago!!):
"It's not a matter of weeks. It's a matter of days until things are all shipped out."
Exactly how many days are we talking? At what point does "a matter of days" turn into "a matter of weeks"?
I'm really beginning to wonder if anybody has gotten their Tiko yet, or if all these positive posts are actually from pseudonyms of Richard.
I hate to sound so negative, but what exactly is the hold up? At least let us know what's going on.

Just a guess, but maybe there is some incompatibility problems with Dolby not workiing properly on some receivers. There was a bug with DTS on some receivers from what I recall. Maybe the dvd burner in the Mac Pro has stopped working or is not working properly. Maybe "Final Cut Studio" is having problems but since we are in the burning stage that shouldn't matter.

Get used to it! I've been waiting since May 2007 ... and I know from this forum that others have waited even longer. You won't get any responses to e-mail and you won't be able to contact by phone. Just keep checking this forum and wait for the next reason on why your order hasn't shipped yet.

You know, I really like my standard Tiko that I received (as does the family), but I would really like to know why I haven't received my standard CeRT yet! :( I would think they would have a few boxes of the standard versions sitting around. Plus no responses/posts from Richard at all for over a week! I know it's only $15, but this is a bit ridiculous, especially when there is no response when you try to contact Richard via his website (or phone number). The thing is, I would be more patient if I was waiting for Tiko, but CeRT has been out for a while now!!! This is really trying my patience, and I feel for all of you that have been waiting longer than I have for Tiko.

Richard,
Perhaps your inbox has been so full with fan mail, that it has prevented you from filling your outbox with responses to all of your other customers. You really shouldn't be so defensive to any of the criticism or complaints in this forum. What do you expect? People have been waiting for a very long time ... in some cases, years. YEARS!! How crazy is that? Kudos to you for offering all the freebies to the pre-orders, but I for one would settle to just finally get what I ordered and paid for 17 months ago. And I'm sure that your neice is very cute, but I would much rather see my own children's reaction to Tiko ... while they're still children.

To all:

As of today all standard intros have gone out. Save for those of you in Canada, Australia, Denmark and the U.K., everyone who ordered a standard DVD should have them by Thursday at the latest. They went out USPS priority. Those living in the countries listed above, will have theirs in 3-10 days based on customs and international ship times.

Custom orders will be shipping out later this week or early next week at the latest. They are all complete but a small batch and we are making sure they are as good as the standard versions.

Look for your copy soon.

Those of you who need to know where the Shark animation is on the disc, PM or email me. If you pre-ordered I'll tell you. If you didn't, good luck finding it!

More later this week.

Richard

RICHARD,
As per above quote(from 9/23, I thinlk ), all the custom orders should have been mailed and we should have receicved it by now, I checked todays mail ( 10/18/2008, 2:30 PM Chicago time), I had other mail, No Tiko which I ordered, I think this is insane,
Do you have any approximate time frame when I will get mine.
The order number is 1092
Dated Jan, 15, 2007.

I'll jump in here and say that I am satisfied with Tiko. Good execution and it plays well with the kids. The Bassimator hit my subs really hard! I wish that I could access the "Let's all go to the movies" bit from the main menu, but you have to go through the trivia part first. I forgot where the Shark easter egg was, but I found it fairly easy.

I would like to compare it to CeRT, but I'm still waiting for my copy. If anyone has any questions about Tiko, let me know. I'll try to throw some pictures up of the case and disc either tonight or tomorrow (probably tomorrow, unless the Patriots get blown out by Denver tonight!:o )

If you listen carefully, you can hear Richard splashing around in the Caribbean and laughing at us all, as we unknowingly paid for his new life in paradise. Either that or he's strung out on a dope binge with the kilo he bought with our money. What kind of fools are we? Hanging on a wing and a prayer that someday we'll actually get what we paid for. Richard is obviously a liar and a thief, and apparently has tired of dangling the carrot in front of all of us jackasses. Is it really that much to ask for? All we want, Richard, is a simple home theater intro. All you had to do was add sound and burn copies. All you have done for the past two years is tell us how hard it is to add sound, and how amazed we'll be when we finally get it. Then, when a few people did get them ... ( at least I think they got them, unless those posts are you f**kin' with us some more) ... it still wasn't right. How pathetic!! I've been waiting anxiously these past couple of weeks (or several days, if you wish) for you to post a response, just to see what kind of lame ass excuse you have this time. Because that's all you do ... post lame excuses, and lie to us all about when we'll get our orders. But I think you've finally abandoned us all for good, so I guess it's time to start looking for another means to an end. What goes around, comes around, Richard. Which means you've got shitloads heading your way.

I did not order Tiko when it was first announced, but did when Richard said they were finally finished. Then we were told that those of us that ordered CeRT & Tiko together, they would be shipped at the same time. Well, we all know that is a bunch of crap. I have received Tiko but guess what, STILL no CeRT.

Instead of telling everybody a bunch of lies, just tell us where our disks are that we have paid for. Enough is enough! A responce from you would be nice!

When I called the phone number listed on the website, I got a recording from Richard to leave a message ("Hi, this is Richard, I can't take your call right now...."). Does he run this business out of his house?? Thought Bitstream Animations was a larger company.

Oh, and still no CeRT in my mailbox today....:(

Probably a sideline gig, not uncommon at all. Works great as long as everything runs smoothly, except even a little hiccup can put you in a hole, because your primary loyalty always has to lie with the career that is putting food on the table and paying the mortgage. If people are still getting them, then he's at least slowly digging his way out. Heck, if he has to re-render high def for every custom phrasing, he can probably only churn out one per day.

I always hate seeing stuff like this happen, but hey. It sounds like it was going great until some glitches came up.

Maybe she gave him the boot, and he's living in a van, down by the river. I doubt he will show up in this thread again until he has gotten completely caught up. And even then he might not, he might just walk away.

Well, I have to wonder what he expects people to do?
I have been on both sides of the coin in this thread.
I have stuck up for Richard and slammed him as well.
People just want their product.
I don't care if I never here from him again, as long as I get what I paid for.

I jumped in on September 7, 2007 and paid $69.95 for a custom version. I previously bought a custom CERT, which I received in a timely manner. Worked great, BTW.

I am concerned that Richard, et al, have gone "radio silent" on this thread, and that the "store" link has disappeared. Not good.

I have waited patiently for over a year, which is just too long. I understood that this was a pre-order for a product not yet completed. However, I think it is safe to say that few would have paid up knowing over a year would pass with no product. In my opinion, our money should have not been accepted prior to shipment of the product. Most reputable vendors will take a credit card number but not process the charge until the product is shipped. I understand that the process may have delays, but MY payment was delivered without delay. After several weeks went by, all credit card charges for delayed pre-orders should have been reversed. Obviously, this is not what happened.

I no longer have charge-back rights on the credit card I used to purchase Tiko, but those who purchased recently (within 30 days) may still have those rights. My suggestion to recent buyers is to dispute the charge, to get it on the record. If they receive their product, it is a simple matter to cancel the dispute. If they don't get it, they are protected. I have been in touch with my credit card company, and have informed them of the situation. If Richard does not make good on his obligations, and/or continues "radio silence", I will also make sure that the appropriate law enforcement agencies know about our friend Richard.

Richard may or may not fulfill his obligations. I hope he does. I own a small business and have a soft spot in my heart for those who take the risks associated with a new venture. In the creative process, delays happen, things take longer than expected, entropy increases. Hiding from customers is exactly the wrong thing to do in those situations.

Richard, tell us what is going on and you will find a lot of understanding and sympathy. Ignore us all and you will find an unhappy outcome.

Here is what I am going to do.
I am going to use your contact information. BUT, believe it or not, :o I am going to give him a couple of more days, just to give him every option to respond. I am thinking if there is no response by Tuesday, I’ll then submit my complaint to the BBB as well.

Here is to hoping we hear from Richard before things go that far.
Meanwhile, I am going to look at other intro discs.

Well it looks like Richard has skipped town to me and the only way we're going to even get a copy of Tiko is for some one who has already received it to make an ISO copy of the disc and put it up for download. It sad to see that we have to resort to this, but Richard is been very unresponsive to all of our inquiries. This man has been the most unprofessional man I have ever done business with. I paid this man for a custom version of Tiko and now I'm just hoping to get Tiko custom or not from someone who has received it already. I'm very upset with Richard since I felt I've been very patient with him and all his issues, but this has been way to long and nothing he's done has made me feel this wait was worth it.

Steve,

What are you losing at the end?

My HD TS file of the generic Tiko shows 284 MB which using the SpeedGuide.net conversion table gives us 290820 KB which is less KB than yours.

My file seems to be okay at the end, though the audio cutoff is right after the last note played. Could have been smoother I suppose.

Wow - you guys like to do homework, huh? I just tried to get my old account logged in, since I'm not here much, but the "forgot password" feature isn't working for some reason. In any event, I'm here now.

First and foremost, I am Todd Kelly, from Pittsburgh, and have a Facebook account. Yay, you all win! I'm also very good at answering emails, so you could have just told me to come here and chime in.

Second, I don't work for Rich, I occasionally work with him. The company is primarily his and his Canadian partner's (as referenced in my email above). From time to time, since I'm an old friend of Rich's, I build/update his websites, and even do some freelance design work if there is time. I'm also the voice of the Bassimator scientist and the Tiko Trash announcer.

I have NO financial stake in the company. I am a friend that loved the idea and helped when I could. The technical production of the discs, including the customization and shipping, is all done in Canada/Rochester NY. I have no idea what is going on there.

I'd love to offer more help, but I have the same email and phone numbers you do. I don't hear from Rich much, but I do know that he's often hard to reach (as you have all posted about). I'll see if I can get him to post here.

I don't live near him, and don't know the situation. When I wrote that he always comes though, I meant it. I hope that he continues to. He's a good guy and a good friend, and I hate to see you all pile on like this. Of course, you want what you paid for, so I totally get it.

If I can be of any help, please let me know. But PLEASE don't email me with 500 "where is my order" emails, since I just don't have any idea.

I have a copy of Tiko (from the first batch, not the corrected batch), and it looks great. I really hope you all can enjoy your copy soon.

Best,
Todd

Suffolk, I think 1.5+ years is long enough for someone to prove himself or herself especially when you have paid money up front. Hopefully, everyone will get what they have paid for or a refund by 12/31/08. I'm guessing that 90% of us have been waiting almost 2 years for Tiko.

I'm glad people are receiving their disc's. This is very encouraging, but I've got to agree with pcdoctor he had too many times to prove himself. Richard has consistently shown me he's unprofessional. All I want now from this man is what I paid for, and no more excuses. I can't recommend to anyone to purchase from this man due to his unprofessionalism. In my opinion the man needs to clean up his act and take a bunch of courses on how to run a business and how to treat his customers.

I look at it this way, as long as people are getting there Tiko's, there is still a chance that I will get mine. If you go to his custom dvd site you will find that the "store" is back in action. That is a good start. The only thing I have against Rich is that he has not updated the answer column here like we were told he would. Other than that I feel I should give him a chance. BTW my order number is 1174 and is a custom order. Everyone, when you post that you got Tiko please state if it was a custom order and your order number to give us an idea where he is. Thanks. :D

Mine was a custom:
The order number was 1092
Dated Jan, 15, 2007.
Received 10/30/08

I am all for giving Richard a chance, however it is too long and also he didn't keep his word of updating or informing us( For me it is very important people keep their word, because I come from a culture where word doesn't mean anything which bothered me a lot. Does it mean have I kept the word all the time, honest answer is no. In this case it is very important he should have).

I tried to play Tiko on my PC ( the monitor is HP 24 inch 1920 X 1200), The picture didn't look that great, Then I played the HD .TS version, looked improved.

I then played it on my 65 inch Mitsubishi 1080i crt, it has only component inputs, used sony s550 blue ray player. The picture quality wasn't that great.
I have to try again, because after watcing HD the whole week watching any SD usually looks bad. It could be that, not sure

The bassimator didn't work, but thats ok

Sam.

Thanks sdavid21.
Great idea.
Those that are posting that you got your order, please add what DVD player and display device you have.
That would be great!
Richard, please post any updates you might have.

Thanks!

After writing and calling with no answers, I cancelled my order by contesting the credit card charge, customer service is severely lacking with this company. For those interested in purchasing from Bitstream Animation, I caution you, that receiving your product is a crapshoot if you ever receive your items and never count on them to respond either by email or answer their phone. I would very much like to have received my purchase, but no response means no business.

...both PS3 and Toshiba HD-A35. Looks pixilated, or out of focus for only the briefest split second on menus when innitaly selected on the HD-A35 but snaps back quickly. It's just slow enough that I can see it but resolves immediately. There is no delay in the audio track, no missed first word.

On the PS3 there are less occurences of the out of focus start up, in fact this is very rare on the PS3 but what is a problem on the PS3 is that the audio track never seems to start at the same time as the video. I miss the first ball bounce on Tiko and the guy in Bassimator gets through several words of his first sentence before the audio kicks in.

Don't recall how I have the source devices set on video output but ultimately everything is upconverted (either by my source devices or my Anthem D2), to 1080p 60 for my Sony VPL-VW100, (ruby). I generally let the Anthem do all the upconversion but the differences in scaling and audio output are undoubtedly due to the internal workings of these devices, ie audio is flawless on the HD-A35 but there are some scaling artifacts, and the audio delay on the PS3 is a documented PS3 problem.

FYI Doesn't matter which intro I play, DTS or Dolby, symptoms described above are the same for both audio formats.

The second DTS trailer, forget the name but Not the Sparks trailer, has no audio at all on either machine....no loss, didn't like the video portion anyway. Sparks is better and plays fine.

Hi Folks just letting you know that I finally received an email response back from Richard that he's sent my Tiko disc in the mail and should be receiving it soon. I should feel so special huh that he finally answered my email. It sad that the man can't just chime in once in a while to this forum and give people updates on where he's at with Tiko. I will let you all know when I receive the disc so that you can see he still working on getting all our disc's to us. I sure hope all of you get yours soon too.

FWIW, I have had no problems with Tiko or any of the other extras on the disc. It is a standard version (I had order #1218), so maybe it is the custom versions with the sound and video problems.

Oh, and I checked the "store" link again and both my Tiko CeRT orders still say "processing", even though I have both in hand. Maybe it's because he said the preorders would get the Blu-ray version in the future? Does anybody still think we will receive THOSE????? ;)

I received my copy of Tiko about 2-3 weeks ago. Placed my order around October 2006, but can't remember my order #. Everything works so far including DTS track and Bassinator. I use bass shakers in our sofa and the rumbling was quite good. Tiko is a cute intro (and my 3 years old son loves it), but I doubt I will ever order again from Bitstream. I got the product I paid for and I'm happy with what I got, but waiting 2 years for it is not acceptable.
