View Full Version : Mitsubishi LT3780??
MtBikerE 02-04-06, 05:46 PM Anyone have any information on this set or have an viewing opinion.
I saw the lt3780 today while dvd testing the Sony xbr.
I didn't have a chance to adjust setting on the Mits..
I thought it looked as good as the xbr as far as clarity and black levels.
Athough the detail(black crush) seemed to be a little better on the Sony, but not by much.
The Sony looked more vibrant in the bright color range. The Mits looked more natural, although compared to the over bright sony nect to it its hard to really tell in the store.
The 1080 was noticeable between the 2 sets, but not by much.
The LT3780 is a slick looking set & comes loaded with options. You do pay for it though.
I'm not familar with Mitsubishi as a company. How are they as far as quality control and customer service. Any known issues?
My dilemma is this. I like the sony, but the 40" is to big. The 37" fits the room perfectly, not to big & not to small.
thank you for those that take the time & effort to reply :)
MtBikerE 02-04-06, 06:13 PM Bump before I go out for the night.
MtBikerE 02-05-06, 12:26 PM Is lack of info on the Mits products not a good sign? Not much here in search regarding Mits.
Anyone know of other forums that have info on this manufacturer?
I can never find info or reviews on any of their LCD's or plasma's. I saw their 50 inch plasma at a high end video recently and though it looked great. It uses NEC glass. Thinking about buying it, but wish I can see some reviews on it.
MtBikerE 02-05-06, 08:34 PM I just went thru a few back issues of some audio mags and picked a few new issues up today. So far I've only noticed larger models getting reviews and mostly on the dlp & plasma sets. All the reviews are favorable.
But
I'd still be happier hearing some feedback as far as customer service, reliability, quality, ect from actual owners.
Mitsubishi is getting more into LCDs this year after concentrating on projection units. There isn't a whole lot of info on their units yet, but please do contribute if you get one. I don't think lack of posts by itself is positive or negative.
seatrend13 02-07-06, 03:22 PM I just got this tv last week and hung it in our new game room. I went to pick up my Sony 40 in xbr lcd, but my saleman informed my they had just received in the new LT-3780. He brought one out from their storeroom and set it up next to the sony I was going to buy. To my untrained eyes the picture was 3780 was much cleaner. Currently I only have a hd cable box connected and the xbox360. The gaming on this tv is unreal! So far the hd programming hasn't truley impressed me, but I am comparing it to my Pioneer Pro930 Plasma. I will post again when I have some time to tweak the picture.
Noobified 02-10-06, 11:41 AM seatrend13 - Any info on whether or not it will accept a 1080p signal from a PC?
Noobified 02-10-06, 11:56 AM Attached is an excerpt from the owner's manual which lists this TV's supported timings.
It says that in PC mode, the TV supports:
1920 X 1080; 66.59kHz; 60Hz; 1 to 1
Is this 1080i or 1080p?
However, the manual also tells you to connect to the PC using a DB15 cable, which is analog. But what will it do via DVI or HDMI? Ahh, someone please review this TV!!

It's 1080p over VGA.
It is discussed here:

seatrend13 02-15-06, 02:32 PM I will hook up my pc to the tv and let you know, the results of using an dvi to hdmi cable. As far a writing a review I would not know where to start. If you have specific questions you need answered I will do my best to help. But as I stated in my previous post I have an untrained eye when compared to others that write reviews. When I spend 3k on a tv its because it looks great to me, not so I can try to find faults with the set.

If you could just tell me the max resolution you can get through HDMI or DVI, that would be great!
epochone 08-12-06, 03:22 PM I looked at everything in the under 40" crowd. For brightness and sharpness, the LT (in 1080i HD mode) was best in brightness and sharpness. I should state that I am no videophile, just a avid tech consumer. The one quality which lagged behind is the fast action (whatever the term is) but it worth the overall quality. As with so many tech items, for me, it boils down to best bang for the buck as opposed to best product. I would have bought any of the brands that came with the ridiculously low price I got the LT for ($1000 NIB). Now for my question: The fan on the (separate) media box runs 24/7, even with the unit off all night. Is this normal for the device? For any similar device?? It just doesn't seem right to me. Thanks for any comments.
Binford 03-07-07, 04:18 PM has anyone tried using this monitors MonitorLink connection to the media center as a standalone HDMI port to go without said Media Center and just use as a Monitor? i use my receiver for all switching and such, and have no need of the media center anymore.
thehire85 04-14-09, 04:02 PM Does anyone know where I can find the media center component for this TV? I have in my possession a used LT-3780, but no media center. I could buy a Denon or Onkyo upconverting video receiver and output through HDMI to the tv, but I'd like to see if I could buy the Mitsubishi media center separately.
Where I can find the media center?
Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.
