I was also trying to figure out how to hide the three metal "L" brackets holding the top on. I have three on the front of the bar and four on the inside. I am not worried about the inside brackets. I was thinking about using fake columns and trim to hide it. thanks beach31684 04-07-10, 08:34 AM HEYNOW^, I am sorry if you have already answered this, I read through this thread once, but I have slept since then. where did you get all the football helmets? they look great HeyNow^ 04-07-10, 09:47 AM http://www.creativesportsent.com/ You can check the Bay, might find better deals. beach31684 04-07-10, 09:53 AM Thank you sir! Did you build this yourself? I would LOVE to have a shop like that HeyNow^ 05-18-10, 08:52 PM No, I'm getting too old to do the heavy schtuff. I'll let someone else do that now. I get to frame the inside and insulate it before winter...talk about building something basackwards...... However, I now have ROOOOOOMMMMMM to build my panels. BIGmouthinDC 05-18-10, 10:35 PM shop envy! UN4GTBL 05-19-10, 12:05 AM Wow, just awesome!! Thats a nice piece of land, i really like it! hanesian 05-22-10, 07:32 AM Very nice! Is this new shop big enough to mass produce cornhole boards? HeyNow^ 05-22-10, 08:10 AM LOL....I would think so. I could make a killing in Indiana LSWHO 10-22-10, 02:34 PM Nice garage Randy, yeah I 'm late to the party... What size is it (40x50) and did you go with any company for the kit or did it on your own? if so what company. I 've looked into US buildings but couldn't find the right look I wanted. Love the steel roof too... fotto 10-22-10, 03:02 PM VERY nice property Randy! I'd love to have the pond (and barn). Do you stock the pond? Nothing like an evening stroll out to the front yard to relax and do some fishing :) HeyNow^ 10-22-10, 05:57 PM Nice garage Randy, yeah I 'm late to the party... What size is it (40x50) and did you go with any company for the kit or did it on your own? if so what company. I 've looked into US buildings but couldn't find the right look I wanted. Love the steel roof too... Thanks. It's 30X40X12. I had it built. I'm not climbing on a 8/12 pitched roof! HeyNow^ 10-22-10, 06:02 PM VERY nice property Randy! I'd love to have the pond (and barn). Do you stock the pond? Nothing like an evening stroll out to the front yard to relax and do some fishing :) We have plenty of fish, Koi, LM Bass, crappie, BIG (10lb+) catfish, blue gill, 3ft grass carp... My son has caught a couple of 5 lb bass....the wife feeds them every night and actually has some of them named! Me? I'm the caretaker. cuzed2 10-22-10, 08:32 PM Damn!! the fishing sounds great! Road Trip anyone? I'll bring the Damn Bait HeyNow^ 10-22-10, 08:34 PM Welcome anytime! HeyNow^ 10-22-10, 08:36 PM Very nice! Is this new shop big enough to mass produce cornhole boards? Jeez this is embarrasing....the #3 son wanted a Florida State "bean bag" set up....we are painting it now... I can't say c%rnhole...okay? cuzed2 10-22-10, 08:39 PM Actually i was close in August; made a road trip from Chicago to DC to Norfolk and back (via the longer more scenic routes). Really sucks to be back home in Suburban traffic. Took me 70 minutes tonight to travel 23 miles home from work... OK - I feel better now :) I'm envious - can you tell.... HeyNow^ 10-22-10, 08:41 PM I hear you, I was like 15 minutes before I got home today :) I'm just off I81! tlogan6797 10-25-10, 07:59 AM Took me 70 minutes tonight to travel 23 miles home from work... That's my commute on a GOOD day. I'll bring the Damn Bait OK, what exactly do you use when fishing for a Damn and what do you do with it when you catch it? the #3 son wanted a Florida State "bean bag" set up....we are painting it now... I can't say c%rnhole. Being a city boy, I thought that's what you country folk called the outhouse seats. TyFond0355 10-25-10, 08:43 AM Looks sweet! Go BUCKS bbrown6057 01-14-11, 10:12 PM I must say this is an interesting thread and glad that I ran across it. It's given me several ideas and I have to say nice job everyone. When I build mine i will be sure to take plenty of pics for all to see. Javatime 01-15-11, 07:12 PM Randy has a sweet build. But since he hasn't replied, my guess is he is either ice fishing in his pond out back, or just tapped a new keg and watching the playoffs. OK, well, maybe all the above. HeyNow^ 01-18-11, 06:20 AM LOL. How does one miss a post in his own thread? Retirement planning, that's how..... Richard Faith 01-21-11, 10:47 AM I want to thank all you guys for such great posts on bar building. I am working with my son building a bar in his family room. We build all raised panels for the front and sides, that was the easy part. He purchased bar railing similar to HayNow's. Its in two pieces 12' long and has to be mitered for the 90 deg turns. Can anyone give me any hints on how to miter this railing. At the cost of it can't aford to make many mistakes. We will be making two outside 90's and one inside. Also the main section of the bar is 10 foot long with an overhang of 10" plus the bar rail. The top will be one 3/4 sheet of ply wood with a 3/4" x 5" frame, (like a picture frame) on top. We plan on installing cermic tile within the picture like frame. Any suggestions?? HeyNow^ 01-21-11, 12:07 PM Most folks use 90 degree couplings for the turns. If you are going to braise the brass after you cut it, then I suppose that a metal cutting blade in a mitre saw will do the trick. The brass is soft and thin. Shouldn't be a problem. Richard Faith 01-21-11, 04:41 PM Hey Now, sorry for the misunderstanding, I was talking about doing a miter on the wood bar rail around the top of the bar. I have been looking into wooden returns but this bar rail was cut by a local mill and I don't think they have custom returns. I was looking for help in how to cut a wood miter on the bar rail. I am sure it can't be as easy as laying it on my radial arm saw and cutting a miter. Iusteve 01-21-11, 05:30 PM I am sure it can't be as easy as laying it on my radial arm saw and cutting a miter. No its not but it is as easy as using 3/4" material under the rail to position it in the same position it will be installed on the bar top. Make sense? Use some scrap of whatever you plan to use as your bar top and place it under the bar rail then cut in the same position it will rest on the bar top when finished. HeyNow^ 01-21-11, 06:46 PM Richard, I apologize, being old my comprehension is near zero. Like Steve said, when you cut the rail, put it on the mitre saw as it would lay on the bar. On a ten inch blade you may have to "lift" up that last inch on the final cut. Richard Faith 01-22-11, 07:12 AM That makes sense. Thanks guys I appreciate that. huskerfan62 02-25-11, 06:11 AM Since I'm stealing your idea for the back bar what size is your mirror and where did you get it? I've been looking around online and most are pretty expensive. HeyNow^ 02-25-11, 06:35 PM No problem. 36 tall X 48 wide beveled glass from Lowes. Cheap and works fine. Trim it out how you like. Iusteve 02-26-11, 07:57 AM I agree with Randy as I used the same thing but beware it isnt the thickest or most durable and it will break/crack/chip on you. Here is a shot of mine http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww348/Iusteve/IMG_0325.jpg HeyNow^ 02-26-11, 07:26 PM Yeah, don't chew on it or use it for a (gulp) Cornhole board.....it's a mirror, not a piece of Tiffany glass. LOL Iusteve 02-26-11, 08:21 PM Mirrored cornhole boards...you my friend may in fact be on to something. HeyNow^ 02-27-11, 06:30 PM First! Javatime 02-27-11, 09:53 PM yeah as careful I was with mounting mine, it developed a small chip at the corner during the install. heavyflyr 04-04-11, 05:44 PM subscribed Iusteve 04-04-11, 07:27 PM subscribed Subscribing to this old thing is like driving a car with 2 flat tires. You wont get anywhere and the only thing that can come of it is damage to your vehicle....:D:D HeyNow^ 04-28-11, 07:20 PM Yeah, yeah, yeah....I've been busy working on a bunch of projects, since I am now retired and have the time. Actually, I can't believe how many things I have to get done. Here is one my son and I have been working on. Working with him is such a hoot. I'm used to working alone so his help is greatly appreciated. He has learned that when you back out a three inch screw, let it drop to the floor, don't touch it.... :) Island for the Gazebo. It will house the fridge and or kegerator, storage and stereo. This is not a cooking island, one for, you know, beverages and stuff.... it will go to the right here http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/HeyNowWV/PB060020.jpg This boy is heavy, the pressure treated 3/4 plywood sheets are full of water and must weigh 100 # each (three sheets so far), so I'll have to boom it with the tractor...what I would do without that tractor....Still have the felt, wire mesh, and stucco scratch coat before the stone work..... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/HeyNowWV/BenAndDadsprojectandbb001.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/HeyNowWV/BenAndDadsprojectandbb008.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/HeyNowWV/BenAndDadsprojectandbb012.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/HeyNowWV/BenAndDadsprojectandbb011.jpg Intersting to note, I was pricing stainless steel cabinet doors for bbq islands, and they were around $200 bucks each. I am installing cabinets from Sams I got for the shop (great deal) and they have stainless steel locking doors. They are only $60 per cabinet, so I stole the doors off of two of them and will replace them later.. The cooking island will have steel studs and hardiboard and will go outside of the gazebo. Iusteve 04-28-11, 08:28 PM Now THATS what I call an update!! I cant wait to see what you come up with here as your bar was a true inspiration to many of us back in the day. tlogan6797 04-29-11, 07:25 AM SO.....is the theater finished? HeyNow^ 04-29-11, 08:06 AM Uhm...not exactly. Are you supposed to finish one thing before you start something else? If you are, I am screwed Iusteve 04-29-11, 08:35 AM Uhm...not exactly. Are you supposed to finish one thing before you start something else? If you are, I am screwed Finished? Heck i started theater #2 with version 1 half finished and now have started redoing theater 1 in hopes of converting it to a family room. Thats 3 major projects right there......and thats only my basement projects lol Javatime 04-29-11, 11:18 AM Awesome Randy. Man, that bar ain't going nowhere after it's put in place...ugh...if you can get it in place. Get the Bud Light ready...and ibuprofen! dc_pilgrim 04-29-11, 01:01 PM Nice looking property you have there. Been a while since I peeked in your thread. Keep posting pics of the gazebo upgrades. Dinger23 04-30-11, 09:22 AM Awesome!!! HeyNow^ 11-23-11, 09:42 AM I had to roll over.... Javatime 11-23-11, 12:26 PM I had to roll over....
