Just wondering if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) on the Dayton Kevlar series inwall speakers at Partexpress. I know the Dayton 12" sub has gotten good reviews on this forum. I am building my first home theater and need some reasonably priced inwall speakers (WAF). Right now it is looking like the Sanyo Z4 PJ, Panny XR55, Panny S77, and Dayton 12" sub. I would love to get the Triads but they are too high priced for the budget.

Yes they are good speakers with smooth and great warm sound,I beleive that "Vance Dickerson" is the guy who designed them and he's no slouch he is also the guy who designed the dayton speaker line. Lou

Thanks louthewiz! There isn't much for reviews on these speakers, but I am considering giving them a try. I would imagine the rest of their line would be on-par with the quality of their subs.

Did you try them? I'm going to need some inexpensive inwalls for my living room.

They should be arriving today. I ended up getting the following:

KS830W 8" 3-Ways for the left and right fronts
KS520MTM 5-1/4" MTM for the center speaker
KS620W 6-1/2" 2-Ways for the rear surrounds
SUB-120 150 W Sub

I am in the process of finishing my basement so I won't be able to hook them up and test them for awhile. Once I have them up and running I will post a review on how they sound. I ended up ordering the Sanyo PLV-Z4, the OPPO OPDV971H, and the Panny SA-XR55 to go with them.

I've got their $99 6.5 version and am satisfied w/ the results... I need to run more power to them though me thinks..

Why do you think they need more power? What are you powering them with?

HK AVR300 (50w per rear). They're in a pretty big room (22x22 w/ cathedral/slanted ceiling) And I have the HK @ +9/+10 using my radiosmack sound meter. But wish I could turn them up louder.

Any updates on the installation and sound quality? Is there a room behind the wall these are installed in? If so, is there a lot of bleeding of sound into the other room?

Not yet. I am in the final stages of finishing the basement and I expect to have the speakers installed and setup by the end of the month. I will post pictures and updates soon.

There are no rooms behind where the speakers are going to be installed.

Did you ever get these speakers installed?

The speakers have been installed and I just finished up my 82" Parkland screen last night. I will be hooking up all the components this week, and I will post an update later this week on how they sound.

I use the CS620C 6.5" ceiling speakers in my master bathroom, bedroom and loft. While they of course don't have any imaging/soundstate/etc since they are in the ceiling they sound very good, especially for the price. They are a lot better than most $200 bookshelf system speakers.

I have had the in-walls up and running for a couple weeks now and I am amazed how good they sound. Now I don't have a lot to compare them to, but I feel the sound is very good for the price that I paid.

Well congrats, if you're happy thats all that matters.

Do you have any pics of the install?

Yeah, I have pics. I think I can only post them in the main gallery, right?

This is a picture of the Sanyo PLV-Z4 that is housed in the drop ceiling which is about 13 feet from the screen.

Pardon my correction, but after a dozen posts misspelling Vance's name, it's Vance Dickason. He is an old friend of Triad, and his "The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook" series is excellent.

Trick, that looks awesome. Did you do all the work youself? I really like the hidden projector.

Thanks! Yes, I did all the work myself. The hardest part was all the planning that was involved. I am happy with the outcome and I am looking forward to watching movies and football this fall.

I just purchased some Dayton in-ceiling (for my surround), stereo in ceiling (for bathrooms) and outdoor speakers from parts express. I wont get to try them out for a few months (new construction), but I'm excited none the less. If sound comes out of them at all I'll feel they were worth the price. If they sound good I'll probably outfit several other rooms in my house.

You could still test them out without installing them in the ceiling, you know.

I could, and I probably will, just to make sure they work, but I don't feel I can get an accurate sense of their performance until in the ceiling. We'll see though.

Trick I am very new to this forum. I am planning to finish my basement this winter. Right now I am planning on 5 DAYTON KS520MTM KEVLAR 5-1/4" MTM IN-WALL SPEAKERS with 2 12" Daytons for the bass. What do you think about using the 5 in-wall 5-1/4" vs the 8.5 you used?

I got my in-ceiling speakers done. They perform as expected and are definitly meet my expectations.

They don't compare to the triads I had in my old house, but they are good enough for my family room surrounds and my bathroom speakers.

The outdoor speakers were discontinued so I don't have anything right now. I'm waiting for spring.

That's good to hear that everyone seems to like them. I'm waiting for a KS622 6.5" Stereo speaker and three sets of CS620C 6.5" speakers for my multizone project. I was a little nervous as there isn't a whole lot of reviews on them. Enough people though have indicated that Dayton's are nice sounding so I took the plunge.

How would the Dayton Kevlar in-walls compare to the Infinity C60 and C60R?

Looks like Dayton has an edge on pricing, have any of you heard both?
