I’ am looking for examples of Door Threshold for home theaters.

Does any one have photos of what they did?

Did you custom fabricate the threshold?

Or is there a supplier out there where you can purchase a threshold for a reasonable cost?

Here you go. Last time I checked, they sell direct. That may have changed. If you find out, maybe you could pass it along to all of us?

Thanks!

Greg,

Pemko sells automatic door bottoms that may fit the bill. I haven't purchased one yet (not at that point yet in construction) but was what I had planned to use. Check out page 2 of their catalog.

A decent cabinet shop should be able to make a threshold out of hardwood for you. That is what I plan (although I build furniture for a hobby, so have the equipment). It is pretty trivial and not nearly as dead flat ugly as the aluminum one shown above.

Then just use a multivane or rubber-in-metal bottom of the door seal - these are a standard builders supply item for exterior door retrofit. You trim these to legnth with a hacksaw and/or tin snips and then screw on. If you are careful how you do this, they give a pretty good seal. The key is to make sure the rubber to door clearance on the ends of the seal is just perfect. They come in several thicknesses to match different doors. They might not seal quite as well as the exotic ones, but are much easier to find and not more than $15....

I bought my Zero Int'l hardware online from Acoustical Solutions (http://www.acousticalsolutions.com/)
It takes about 10 days to get the parts as they are cut to order at the factory in NYC and then shipped directly from Zero Int'l to your home.

The folks at Acoustical Solutions were great to work with and I highly recommend them.

l purchased my automatic door bottom directly from zero international and they were very helpful as well. Before ordering I would check the price at both places.

Has anyone heard of a company called Soundproof windows? They make sliding glass doors that are supposed to be soundproof (we're thinking of using a pair of sliding glass doors instead of a double door setup)

We are acquainted with these fellows. I've seen the product up close and personal. Highly recommended.

i have also been looking for a door bottom seal and stumbled upon this one...

M-D automatic door bottom (http://www.hardwareandtools.com/invt/3505898)

not sure about the seal quality, but might be worth a try at that price.

edit... found the installation instructions here...

Good find! $15 sounds like it might be worth a try.
