It was the floor model and I talked the salesman down to $250 for it. JBL 8" in walls for the side surrounds and back surrounds. Got those off etronics for $100 a pair I think. I plan on replacing those soon though. Last, but not least, a pair of 50 watt bass shakers from smart home.

Techinically I paid $275 for the Polks plus a 10in Sub that I sold for $75.I think it was called the 104 package, or something similar. Total cost thanks to you guys and this forum during this time period, after catching sales on speakers..mostly from frys, trying them and then selling them for a profit and also selling the htib speakers/sub for almost the same price I paid for the htib system is, $765, including shipping including speaker wire. I haven't received the H-100 yet but the price has been included in the total.

I also like the fact I did start out with an htib so I know the difference first hand. It's night and day, fire and ice, however you want to put it. I'm very satisified.

You assume correctly, both the Polk R series JBL Northridge series and the Primus series. I didn't move on to the Point5s. I purchased 1 of the Point5s systems first and compaird these for my second system against the point5s. While their was certain aspects of R series I prefered one being looks. For my taste overall, nothing compaired to the sound of the Point5s so I wound up purchasing another Point5 system.

I have a 1994 Fisher Studio Standard RS-727 w/Dolby ProLogic. I get a lot of sneers and jeers because its a Fisher, but when they hear it they usually stand corrected, and have to admit that "it ain't that bad". I have just aquired a second RS-727 for $25.00 off ebay and it works perfectly, I would like to find two more 727's or 737's in the near future, so if anyone has one that they want to unload let me know what you want for it.

I am now going to use my Sony SDP-E800 Digital Decoder to feed into the two Fishers (one for front two channels, and one for the rear channels, with separate sub and center channel amps).

I built my first set of speakers last year using all new drivers in my old KLH AV5001 tower enclosures (dual 12's). They are now sealed and sound great, I get many compliments, but I used out of the box cross-overs and I didn't match them to my speakers properly, and the speakers had to be hooked in series to get the 8 ohms which is giving me problems. So to save space, and get the subs into their own enclosures, I am getting rid of the towers and going to satellites and four sub tubes.

New satellites will have home built .6 cubic foot enclosures (Sealed) with my current drivers plus the addition of the 6 1/2 inch mid basses.

These are MSRP. I work in advertising and gave my local guy some free ads and he hooked me up, so I got "friend pricing" and paid much, much less.

I'm about to buy my new sound system and i'm not sure which one to choose, between the new high end sound system (best choice in EISA awards 2006) NAD MASTER SERIES (M15, M25 and M55 Universal player) and the already knowned awarded sound systems, ARCAM (Universal player DV29, P7 and AV8) or PRIMARE (Universal player DVD30, SP31 and A30.5). Between these 3 different systems, which one would you recommend me? Any one knows these? I would appreciate and would be very thankfully.

Ah! I almost forgot. My first choice to the speakers are the TOTEM FOREST, that i loved so much in previous auditions. They're beautiful and sound like heaven. My only doubts are between NAD Master series system (M55 universal player, M15 processor and M25 power), or ARCAM system (DV29 univ. player, AV8 processor and P7 power), or PRIMARE system (DVD30 univ. player, sp31 processor and A30.5 power). All your experiences or personal opinions would be great to me.

Yes, it was expensive, but I purchased everything at a significant discount off MSRP, except the Integra which I feel like I stole anyway. If I need to sell it at any time in the next year or two, I will likely get 80 to 90% of my money back. When shopping for this stuff, I am always asking myself what the resale value will be in the future ( I usually give some thought to how the value of an item will likely depreciate over a 1 to 5 year time frame). My family doesn't have alot of money, but my secret is I look at everything as an investment. My last system was a Paradigm Reference Syterm which I purchased new for ~ $5,000 and sold 2 years later for ~ $500 profit. How did I do it? I bought the speakers in Canada, negotiated the purchase price to the penny and took advantage of the (then) high exchange rate (US to canadian $). Yes, I realize that generally this is not an investment I am likely to make money in, but if I can keep the loss to a minimum it ensures that the majority of the money I invest in this hobby can be made available, if necessary, for emergencies or emergency upgrades ;) .

I just got a 32" Sony Bravia LCD and I'm toying with the idea of getting a Yamaha YSP-900 Sound Projector.

Ultimately I'm after a good picture, and great sound, but I do have a limited budget. I think I did alright. The audio setup in my living room is probably around 1250.00 ish. Thats for a complete 5.1 that does sound great. Only down side is the HTR-5960 dosn't have HDMI, but thats ok, I'll be patient and upgrade later on once the HDMI standard is sorted. I will say for the money no ones been able to convince me of any other speaker (NS-555's) that sounded better (again...for the money except maybe the NS-777's).

I sold my Avalon, Apogee, and other stuff. The reality is that less is more and if you have good A/D (like the ULN2) and a decent front end you can do just about anything. Guitars/bass goes direct, keyboards are all midi, and voice is single mic. Location recording used to be a MOTU 896, various Oktava, Rode and Shure mics. These days its more HD video using an Oktava MC012 on a boom and AT 897 or Sennheiser wireless lav.

I originally set out to do a reasonable home theater setup but quickly moved it into a multi-purpose setup. I wanted my setup to have enough mid-range as I cannot stand thin sounding heavy metal or rock...which is the primary music I would use it for...but also older 60's, 70's, and well, I guess movies as well :) .

Curious on opinions for what my next 2 speakers should be. Bookshelfs? Tweets? Something else? I planned to listen to this before deciding on the next 2 anyway but figured there might be some knowledgeable folks that could spot the shortcoming in sound of my setup.

Why do people post their TVs/Displays etc?? The guy asked for sound systems!

Like most, I am bored and want new speakers in the bedroom. Focal 836s but don't want to pay $3,000 for them. I know I am pissing off Ultimate Electronic employees because I demo these speakers every 1-2 months, but NEVER buy. It's hard to see if they are going to be 3K better than what I have, and I hate buying stuff and returning it. Indecisive am I.
