The deflection board on my 9PG Plus died a few months ago and I recently swapped in a new one.

Since then some of the convergence controls don't work. Specifically, the upper and right controls of the keystone, balance, and pincushion for the Red and Blue channels. The lower and left controls still work, but changing the values of the upper and right don't affect the image at all. Strangely enough, the same is true for the edge focus and astig controls. Lower and left are fine, upper and right don't do anything.

In addition, the picture showes horizontal bands of noise, mostly in the red channel, but there's evidence in the green and blue as well.

Any tips? Any diagnostics to try out?

I don't know, but there are two versions of the DEF board, one for the PG and one for the plus- you sure you have the right one?

Aha...that may well be the problem. I've got a 9PGPlus.

Do you happen to know a way of identifying which board is which?

The 721xxxxx number, and the inkstamp number.

OK. Ummm, what should those numbers be for a 9PGPlus def board? And what would they be for a plain ole 9PG?

The one I've got installed right now says its a PWC-3709(A) - 72137092. I don't have access to the older one right now.

The schematics diagram or the 69PG+ indicates that the PWC-3709(A) is correct, but I dont know about the 72137092.

I doubt it's the deflection board causing this.

More likely something else went out with the def. board.
Check the obvious, all the connectors, the C and F drives, and reseat the system and wave boards.

It is most likely some of the plugs plugged into the wrong spots, you can get symptoms like that when the plugs are the wrong way around on the F and C boards. You can get all sorts of weirdness like adjusting Keystone will actually adjust Skew etc.
