i just got a new 8300hd dvr from time warner and i've been trying to figure out how to upgrade the codes so that it operates my ht system... i searched these forums but cannot find an answer...

i went to the universal remote website and found the software to do the "upgrade", but i do not have the accompanying hardware... do i need a cable of some sort that connects to those pins under the battery cover?

i saw on some other thread that a jp1 cable is required... but i think that's for the 'one for all' or 'radio shack' remotes... the 8400 is urc...

i called time warner and they told me to turn to the remotes channel and follow the instructions there... i already did that and it didn't work... knew it wouldn't...

all i need is for the power button to work so i could turn on/off my whole system with one button on one remote instead of two...

i sent in my last remote (for non-dvr) to universal remote and they programmed the code into the remote, but i was without both my remotes for three weeks...

I also would like to know about this! I am interested in controlling my xbox 360 with this remote using the Media Center PC IR code which I dont think comes installed on the remote's original software
