I'm glad I did some homework first. I have emailed several companies inquiring if their warranties are still good for secondhand items if I decided to purchase from eBay, online classieds, garage sale, etc...
I'm still waiting to hear from Monster and Panamax.

Here's the reply from Belkin.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Belkin Customer Support. A surge protector that is purchased used would not be under warranty. Please let me know if you have any other questions about this. Thanks again and have a great day.

Let the "used" buyer beware!

Most warranties are non-transferable so they would be only valid for the original purchaser.

of course they only know it is second hand if...1 the first owner registered it w/ the S/N or 2. Had a prob with it that needed repair (in that case why buy it) and 3. If you tell them....Shhhhh

And if you buy from an authorized reseller and have the recepts.

No offense but cheap, petty and dishonest come to mind. Every once in a while someone posts around here complaining that the warranty on their gray market purchase is no good, or brags of snookering the manufacturer on an EBay purchase. It is sad and less honest than the street corner three card monte dealer who cheats you, but has to use some skill.
