Hi guys,

I still have a few non anamorphic dvd's I want to replace and I was wondering if anyone knows of any retailers in the Toronto area who carry dvd's from other regions; alternatively, does anyone know of a good international site that ships to Canada (preferably in English).

I buy most of my region 2 dvds via www.amazon .co.uk although I'm not sure if they ship to canada. They ship the the US though...

If your carfull ebay can be OK. But I warn you to allways read the feedback. It my be high but I've noticed many pepole are too nice and will leave positve feedback. Say somthing like well the dvd works good and was at a great price. However it was a copy.

I'd say 20% of the dvds I've bought via ebay were copys... Although most were hard to find titles or imports.

I've never bought a DVD from Ebay; heard one too many horror stories. I second Amazon.co.uk; their quick and reliable. I usually get my order within 1 week from them and I'm on the West coast. However, I also use CDWow because their prices are usually cheaper on non region 1 DVDs than Amazon and they ship for free.

I got "Who Dares Wins (aka Final Option)" from amazon.co.uk. (good site)
I also got "That Lady Hamilton" from http://www.moviemail-online.co.uk/films/8500 . (I got what I ordered)
Both are Region 2.

I was thinking of getting this. I only saw it once way back in the early 80's. How is the quality of the DVD? Is it anamorphic; it doesn't say on Amazon's site. I might just get it anyways. It looks like it'll be about $13 shipped to the U.S; not a bad price.

mrhan:
re "Who Dares Wins"
The sound quality and video are fine -- but it's 4:3.
No special features, no advertising, no FBI warning.
The movie and a chapter list, and that's it.

Thanks for the info Bob. I guess I can wait for a better release. :)

Before chosing which disc from which region, always check out:

http://www.dvdcompare.net/

http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/compare.htm

and even www.imdb.com

To decide which one to get. It is not always obvious.
