I've had an issue with my Onkyo TX-SR803 stemming from the XM Connect & Play antenna which I can't seem to get resolution. There is a "high" pitched humming sound coming through the speakers when I turn up the volume. Very annoying while watching TV or DVDs. If you switch to let's say DVD mode while not playing a DVD and turn up the volume you can actually hear the humming as well as some sort of electronic ticking. I traced it back to the CNP-1000 because when it's unplugged, no humming and confirmed that there isn't any grounding issue. Confirmed the issue with the local Onkyo service center who then sent it to Onkyo in NJ because they couldn't figure out why it's making the noise. Well Onkyo indicated they couldn't hear the noise even with the CNP-1000 I provided and sent the unit back to me pretty much indicating tough luck.

The reason for this thread is to see if anyone else with a XM compatiable receiver noticed the humming I described.

Did you ever get an answer or resolution to this issue? I just purchased a TX-SR674, and am running into the same issue with the XM Passport system (I think it's the successor to the Connect & Play antenna).

No I haven't heard anything else about the issue. I've given up pretty much and considering cancelling my XM subscription because of the issue. Have you contacted Onkyo yet?

Yes, I called them yesterday (an hour on hold) and they suggested I do a factory default reset on the receiver. I hung up and tried that, with no joy, so I'll probably try calling them today or Monday and look for another solution. I'll post the results here.

Onkyo threw in the towel pretty quickly and suggested I exchange my receiver. The replacement is supposed to arrive tomorrow... I'll post the final outcome once it arrives and I have it set up.

Hi Frank...did you ever get your replacement Onkyo 803 and has the high pitch humming stopped?
