After searching pages of threads I cant seem to find this info. I have a RCN morotola 6412 Phase 3 dvr box. I want to change the output from 1080i to 720p.
How exactly do I do this ? My lcdtv has a native resolution of 720p. Any help would be appreciated. :)

With your remote turn the box off. Press the menu button. Change your output to 720P. turn the box back on.

How can I change my setting back to regular 480 standard? I just have a regular Sony SDTV and while playing around with the video output settings on my RCN box, I made it 1080i and now I can't see any of the menus. I can see the video from the channels, but I can't see anything else (like info, guide, menu).

BTW, when I press menu or even select twice after turning off my box, I don't get anything on the screen (which is probably because the display setting is wrong for my tv) :(

OR an even better solution for me would be to put it back how it used to be, where I can see the menus fine on all of the SD channels, but on the HD channels I can't see the menus, but I could see the video - with black bars on the bottom on top, that is how it works now - but with the 480 standard setting it would be stretched (or zoomed?) to fit my tv

Never mind, I figured it out.

I used the information here: en [dot] wikibooks [dot] org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup to find out that I can access the different options of the box's menu. But since I have RCN I had to press menu twice after turning off the power to access the menu - when I did access it I saw that it said 16:9, then when I pressed down (on the box itself) it said like YPbPr out, and by pressing the right button I was able to select 480i and then the menu showed up (and everything else worked fine). I also selected 4:3 letterbox on the first menu item (TV Type) so that the HDTV channels show up in letterbox format instead of zoomed in on my tv.
