transws6am 07-10-06, 04:55 PM Hi everyone. I ordered the e-book on home theater construction that WarrenJ helped make, from hometheaterbook-com. I ordered it on Saturday and have not been able to get them to send me instructions on how to download the e-book. I am having a hard time contacting either their support group or WarrenJ himself. Anyone ever have this problem, or know how I can get in contact with them? Thanks for listening guys.

Check your spam filter, I think allot of the emails are lost there. I had no problems. I got the email to down load quickly and Warren sent the password the next morning. I never had to request anything.
Also, he seems to check in on the forums too, maybe he will see your posting.
transws6am 07-10-06, 05:00 PM Yeah...I read that there was that problem before I ordered it. So I shut it off first. I have checked my bulk email anyhow just to be safe. I got one email from the support group on Sunday saying that I should have already recieved the instructions and to email them back if I did not recieve them. I email them and it has been about 48 hours without a response. Probably just some type of hicup going on somewhere. Thanks for your responce.
P.S. Did the book help you out?
Andrico4 07-10-06, 05:11 PM I bought and read it. Before I had read it I had a very basic and general knowledge of "home theatres." Now that I am planning my theatre this book has come as a godsend for looking up things quickly for reference. It may be a little general in some areas but with the ever changing technology it needs to be. Of course you could never build a home theatre with just the information from this book but you could get pretty darn close.
phantsam 07-10-06, 05:14 PM I just wish there was way to remove the password protection after downloading it. Oh well.
transws6am 07-10-06, 05:18 PM I just wish I could download it :)
warrenP 07-10-06, 05:34 PM Hey folks, I'm here almost every day, and reply to these sorts messages via PM, so please check your PM here. Anyone can also email me at any time: Warren@TheHomeTheaterBook.Com Thank you, Warren
transws6am 07-10-06, 07:14 PM Thanks Warren. Just pm you.
Randito3 07-10-06, 07:39 PM I agree, the password is a royale pain. Once put in, you should be able to open it all the time without the need for a password.
sethwas 07-10-06, 07:42 PM I thought this was about creating a 'facebook.com' type website but about home theaters.

Chiahead 07-10-06, 11:12 PM I printed it out at work, double sided to save a few trees, and then I had my own book to mark up. I am having a house built, so it will be a while before I can start, but it definately gave me some ideas.
nuevo_eph 03-27-07, 01:37 PM So has this book been updated in the past 9 months? Just curious if it gets out of date.
Basically, I am trying to nail down some ideas before finalizing my home plan.
nuevo-eph - I ordered the book close to a year ago. I can't recall a thing that is out-of-date. Room construction techniques and audio design theory really don't change.
nuevo_eph 03-27-07, 03:35 PM That makes sense - I was wondering if networking/cabling/automation info in it is outdated.

There isn't much detail to those sections. The book talks about the various concepts from a "need to plan for" type of level of detail. If you are looking for a book that discusses the differences, pro's, con's between using different controls, Graffic eye, insteon, x10 controllers, this isn't it. For that sort of info, I'd just use the various threads pinned on the top of the forum.
There are a lot of pictures of peoples theaters many that are on here and there is very little in the way of actual useful information, I learned WAY more here.
It just was not that great for the money in my opinion.
To each is own so they say... I found the book to be a great central source of info. Yes, all of the info is probably on here but sometimes it's hard to find and there is also a lot of misguided info on the forum. Considering what our theaters cost, I found it to be a good value.
