Is Happy Feet the first movie on either format to score a perfect 5 out of 5 for video and audio at highdefdigest.com?

I believe it is =)

"It's a gorgeous-looking film, and for my money, Warner has delivered the finest transfer of an animated movie I've yet seen on HD DVD. Quite simply, this 1080p/VC-1 encode is flawless, and it's going to be the title I whip out as first-choice demo material when I want to show off how great animation can look in high-definition."

"From the opening sequence, which uses Prince's classic 'Kiss' to hilarious effect, the dynamic nature of this TrueHD track is obvious. Frequency response is terrific, from the drum-tight low bass to very spacious mid-range. All the voices sound fantastic, with a smooth clarity to the highs that really soars. Surrounds are also nice and aggressive, from all manner of discrete effects (the sea lion and whale attack sequences are particular standouts) to excellent integration of the score and songs. Movement is often directed all around the soundfield with pinpoint accuracy, and imaging is seamless. I also have nothing to complain about in terms of ambiance, with even milder scenes usually having something going on in the rears, which keeps the soundtrack alive and immersive. In both video and audio, 'Happy Feet' hits an home run. "

King Kong and HULK both got 5 stars for video, but only 4 1/2 stars for audio. Close!

The picture quality is absolutely incredible. The DD+ audio track is very good as well.

I didn't like the movie that much though. :)

Anyone find the HD DVD version listed on the BB site yet? I see the Blu version there but not the HD - what gives?

It seems to be very good - read the user review from IMDB: IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0366548/)

Or check the trailer out in the OP (first link) - looks like fun, nice touch with the Steve Irwin tribute including his voice. :)

Seems to have plenty of clever animation plus the 5/5 rating, etc, I'll be buying...

I took my son. I think the movie is good and re-watchable because of the songs. There are points where the story drags on but for the most part it's a solid effort and it does look pretty damn good. Next up for animation....Over the Hedge :D Hopefully.

It better, I've been dissapointed by HD DVD animated releases thus far.

I hate to say this, but I'm getting a bit burned out on cutesy animation, hell, animation in general. I may get this, but I haven't decided yet. Cars may have killed the whole genre for me.

Sorry Blu-Ray owners this movie is the same on video presentation, but falls short on the audio side. The HD-DVD has the Dolby True HD and the BR only got an DD Surround EX (640KB). Don't know why Warner is selling BR short, but HD-DVD owners should be happy campers.

Is this movie going to be double-sided with the DVD version on one side? I like to get these movies and watch the hd version on my pj setup. If my son really likes it he will want to watch it (over and over and over) in the living room which has a DVD player.

Warner should release Grave of the Fireflies for HD-DVD in Japan with English subtitles, much like they did for the Region 2 DVD release. If that won't bring back your interest in animation, then I don't know what will. :D

I never get these kind of movies, cuz I don't have any kids...

I MAY get this one though, as I actually looked over the trailers, and they are rather amusing, and the visuals seem to be top notch.
Throw in a cool soundtrack, and Robin Williams being.. well... Robin Williams, and I just may pick it up!!

Of course, I'll have to order it online, cuz it's a combo.......
