I'm looking for an electronic dart board w/ 4 person cricket. Something reliable under $300. Any suggestions on online stores or name brands? Thanks.

I always stick with Arachnid. I think they were bought by somebody else, but they kept the name. They "own" (through patent) the red & black board with yellow web that I've become accustomed to, so that may be part of my preference. I believe the top of the line board (no cabinet or floor stand) is <$199.

I'm using a Halex board that you can use either steel or plastic tipped darts. Even though it is a bristle board, it still has electronic scoring. I have too many friends that believe steel tips are the only way to play. This way everyone can use the type of tip they prefer. I've had tournaments where one player used steel tips while the other used plastic. Halex offers several models that sell for under $300.

If you are only interested in plastic tipped darts, Arachnid seems to be the most popular.

The scoring system works well, it accepts both steel and plastic tip darts, and is an overall pretty good board. I have had a small number of throws (around 5%) where the board didn't register the score, but that's the only complaint.

The trash talking feature is ok, some of my friends love it, but it wears on me. It seems to be a pretty decent board for the price.

Check out Edarts.net. We buy all our dart supplies from him. I originally had a "cheap" electronic board I bought locally, but had about 20% bounce outs. Ended up going with an Arachnid, and it made all the difference in the world. My wife and I are big into both steel and plastic dart leagues, and we both think it is a great board.

As for a "combo" board, I prefer having both bristle and electronic. (if you have the space) This gives you the truest experience of both. We currently have two of each in our game room.

That's the same board I have. I haven't had any problems with un-registered darts so far. I would agree about the trash talking feature. It's funny for awhile but then I just set it to one of the less talking settings.

goit a bar one "valley" from the local arcade supplier- they always have stuff for sale- paid like 700 bucks for it about 6 years ago. seen them for much less.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll be making my purchase in the next month. I like the idea of the hard and soft tip board but I some of my friends aren't very accurate. I don't want holes all over my wall:)

I have just as many holes in my drywall from soft tips as I do from steel tips. I either need to install something harder behind the board or stop serving alcohol at my parties.

Heya, I read in PickyGuide that you should choose an electronic dartboard with LED display, this makes it brighter and easier to read from a distance.

My local Target had all its dart boards on clearance this week, 75% off. I picked up a Halex electronic board for $19. Same unit is on the Halex website for $150 FWIW.
