View Full Version : Coordinated AVS Forum HD DVD purchase
cnickersonjr 08-08-06, 06:41 PM I bought six, all from BB (can I go back and pricematch after the fact?):
Aeon Flux
Assault on Precinct 13
Cinderella Man
Pitch Black
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
The Chronicles of Riddick
Sure you can. i think they add 5% too!
ORDERED:
Backdraft, Bourne & Animal House! :D Ordered from Amazon to get the 10% discount on this order, plus the next year too...
But have to wait a month to get 'em... :(
So including my "prepurchase" of A13 last night, jot me down for four movies.
Just ordered TLS and Ray from Wallyworld (97 cent shipping), so this equals six movies for me since about 9pm last night...
Apollo 13 (WM)
Backdraft (Amazon)
Bourne Supremacy (Amazon)
Animal House (yesssssss!) (Amazon)
The Last Samurai (WM.com)
Ray (WM.com)
Now just wish Fry's had some on sale for $14.99 like the did a few weeks ago!
ChrisPC 08-08-06, 06:57 PM I went to one WM and got:
Sahara
We Were Soldiers
Sky Captain
I then went to another WM (in the ghetto, even) and got:
Full Metal Jacket
Serenity ($5 cheaper at this location!)
They were all $19.99! Aeon Flux, The Italian Job, Friday Night Lights, and Lethal Weapon were long sold out at both stores. They both had spots for Troy and The Searchers, too. However, the Blu-ray titles aren't moving. :)
jasplat88 08-08-06, 07:03 PM I ended up getting (from Amazon):
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Ray
16 Blocks
-Jason
jgantert 08-08-06, 07:39 PM Not actually planning on buying any today, but I did stop by the WalMart and picked up

acegamer 08-08-06, 07:46 PM I ordered:
DVD Empire: Aeon Flux, Italian Job, Manchurian Canidate
Amazon: Unleashed, Army of Darkness, Slither.
I couldn't find any of todays releases at Best Buy, so I'll just have to wait for the deliveries.
ChrisW6ATV 08-08-06, 08:21 PM OK, I beat my 6-disc pledge. Here's what I brought home today:
Wal-Mart:
Friday Night Lights

Lethal Weapon
Best Buy:

Is today August 8, or really "Christmas"? :)
quikric 08-08-06, 09:15 PM I KNOW I pledged 5 but I just couldn't do it.It took Waly World CC and two BestBuys,but I came home with 8!
AAAAHH HHAAAA!!!!
Added: Pitch Black
Animal house
Unleashed
There's my vote for HD-DVD.
Long live Hd-DVD!!!!!
OK I ordered Pitch Black from amazon to show support for the format, even though it's not a movie I would normally buy. I haven't seen it for 5 years or so and it should look and sound great!
I just picked up Aeon Flux and Italian Job at Best Buy and have Animal House and Unleashed on order at Amazon (although no sign of them shipping yet).
Davin_Felth 08-08-06, 09:47 PM I just picked up Aeon Flux and Italian Job at Best Buy and have Animal House and Unleashed on order at Amazon (although no sign of them shipping yet).
That's because Unleashed got pushed back to next week, I'm sure you set the option for them to ship together. I did the same thing, I ordered Unleashed with Ray and will have to wait another week. :(

Davin_Felth 08-09-06, 12:43 AM Do I win a prize?
Grand total: 22 titles.
Day isn't over here, but I'll bow out and let you take the title. ;) :D
Just caught on to this today. Pre-ordered Dazed & Confused and Poseidon both via Amazon. That's all the titles I really wanted. Already have 10 titles, some of which I wouldn't have purchased as SD-DVD but wanted to try the new format.
Hope this sends a message. This was a pretty good idea, whoever thought of it.
Cheers.
Rachael Bellomy 08-09-06, 12:58 AM I got The Italian Job & Rattle And Hum today.
Jon Spackman 08-09-06, 01:08 AM I got four: Aeon Flux, Italian Job, Ray, and Unleashed.
Aeon Flux has the best PQ of them with Ray having the best AQ.
warlordbb 08-09-06, 01:21 AM Well, it has been a very busy day for me (I think the Blu-ray camp has been throwing work at me to keep me down) but I managed to do some damage. I was hampered by the fact that there's really one 1 store (BB) reasonably close that has a somewhat good stock and even theirs was slim pickin's so I wasn't able to complete my 20 titles for my father (although I wound up ordering more than I intended for myself).
I'm still on a deadline with some of my work so I'll post the other evidence later but here's some that I processed earlier:
First I did an order for 3 titles from Amazon to get the 10% for a year:
Goodfellas
Unforgiven
Serenity
Then I placed an order for 9 more titles of pre-orders for myself:
Chronos
Spy Game
Traffic
Backdraft
Animal House
Unleashed
Dazed & Confused
2 Fast 2 Furious
End of Days
I picked up 14 more titles at my local BB:
Syriana
Enter the Dragon
Training Day
The Dukes of Hazzard
Lethal Weapon
The Perfect Storm
Italian Job
Aeon Flux
We Were Soldiers
Four Brothers
Manchurian Candidate
Friday Night Lights
Assault on Precinct 13
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
I then ordered 13 titles for my father off Amazon:
Rundown
Doom
Happy Gilmore
Constantine
Riddick
Cinderella Man
Phantom
Last Samurai
Lara Croft
Pitch Black
Swordfish
U-571
Van Helsing
And I finished up by buying him an HD DVD Player from *******.
And the pics I promised (haven't had time to process from my father's orders):
http://www.yourgame.net/hd01.jpg
http://www.yourgame.net/hd02.jpg
http://www.yourgame.net/hd03.jpg
http://www.yourgame.net/hd04.jpg
So I guess that's total of 39 titles for me today. Sorry bout that record but I gots to represent for my HD-DVD!
EDIT: Didn't see my address info in that first pic. Oops, told ya it's been a long day. Will fix the broken link in a sec.
So I guess that's total of 39 titles for me today. Sorry bout that record but I gots to represent for my HD-DVD!
Wow. Kudos!
suprmallet 08-09-06, 01:40 AM 39 titles! Awesome!
JamesChelton 08-09-06, 01:43 AM Purchased Training Day and Unleashed from Amazon
ChrisPC 08-09-06, 01:45 AM warlordbb, I think I met you one day at the Rivergate BB! You were doing the Target price match, and said you were buying them for your dad as well as yourself.
BTW, that pushes the verified sales over 400! 417 to be exact.
suprmallet 08-09-06, 01:54 AM I wonder if enough people have not yet reported to make it to 500.

That was me Chris, glad to know you frequent AVS too!
Did the price match today too, I wish I had more places to choose from. I went to CC and asked if they had them. They pointed me to a section that had about 12 HD DVD and 10 Blu-ray titles.
I mumbled "nah, I got all these" and the guy copped an attitude like, "sure you do". :)
bought aeon flux and atl today.
on a whim i asked them to price match wal mart and they did for af but wal mart didn't have atl or i would have gotten cheaper too.
Eric D. 08-09-06, 02:45 AM warlordbb...all I can say is wow. You are the man!!!! :)
Ive already picked up most of the discs Ive wanted in the past on release week, so there wasnt much left for me to buy today.
I picked up apollo 13 and aeon flux. I also wanted unleashed and possibly sleepy hollow, both of which were not available at my frys location :(
btw,
we should scedule another HD DVD purchase day on the same day ps3 is released and when the sony BD player is released :)
ghettogreg 08-09-06, 04:02 AM A little late reporting my purchase, but I got 6 from amazon:
ray
apollo 13
serenity
syriana
pitch black
sahara
I would have gotten some of the newer paramount releases, but amazon is kind of slacking with those (as everyone already knows)
suprmallet 08-09-06, 05:10 AM btw,
we should scedule another HD DVD purchase day on the same day ps3 is released and when the sony BD player is released :)
I can get behind the PS3 release day coordinated buy. That would actually be a great idea. The Sony standalone player won't make a big enough splash to warrant a coordinated buy, but having tons of HD software sold on PS3 launch day might send a little message to the studios.
aaronwt 08-09-06, 06:59 AM I just bought one. It would have been more if Amazon had We were soldiers and Aeon Flux. But Ray is my 31st HD DVD so I have most of the other titles. I do have 10 more titles on order over the rest of the Summer.
should I exchange Sahara for Serenity??
Get them both...
Just out of curiosity, do preorders count for an 8/8 purchase? They shouldn't really, the studios don't see them as sales until the disc is sold. Amazon will see them, but that just means they'll stop taking orders sooner, or ship them out later.
J
stevencko 08-09-06, 09:04 AM I picked up 5 at my local BB. They had the TIVO box stacked on top of the Toshiba player so I moved them :). They do not have any players in stock and the one on the shelf is not connected to anything. (Don't worry there BD unit was pluged into a cheap blurry LCD)
Good job everyone!
Looks like we created a little "blip" on the radar. From a 1947th ranking Monday to a 1536 ranking yesterday:
http://www.thedvdwars.com/index.cfm
But what's more encouraging is if a small blip is all we created, there must be literally thousands of HD-DVD movies being purchased on Amazon everyday, and that's got to be encouraging to the movie studios. I believe I read somewhere that HD-DVD sales have been stronger than expected. If that's the case, kudos to all of us! :)
Almost embarrassed to say I only picked up:
Aeon Flux
Sahara
Sky Captain
Getting a serious inferiority complex hanging around here!
Well don't. Every little bit helps the cause. ;)
Evangelo2 08-09-06, 10:22 AM Picked up Ray from Best Buy.
I jumped the gun 2 weeks ago and got Tomb Raider, Sahara and Sleepy Hollow from Best Buy :(
-Evangelo2
BlueIce2k3 08-09-06, 10:48 AM I actually ended up getting 7 when i only planned on 4, so if anyone is compiling all this information you will have to put me for 7 instead of 4.
It would be interesting to see the total actually bought by everyone here
I ended up with the following:
Aeon Flux
Ray
Friday Night Lights
Sky Captain and the World of Tomarrow
Italian Job
We Were Soldiers
Cinderella Man
Just trying to do my part to support HD-DVD
ChrisPC 08-09-06, 10:53 AM 441 verified...
FlasHBurN 08-09-06, 11:00 AM Ordered Sky Captain and Enter The Dragon. Preordered Animal House and Unleashed. All from amazon.com.

I just took a look, they haven't updated the rankings on there yet today, it's the same ones as yesterday morning. :)
Hopefully we made an impact though, looking forward to the site being updated.
Edit: It's been updated
Average of Top 10:
8/7 - 1947
8/8 - 1536
8/9 - 1451
Soycrema 08-09-06, 12:04 PM I confirm my purchase yesterday. Total 3 HD-DVD's
Sahara
Four Brothers
U2
eizenga13 08-09-06, 12:10 PM Nice work everyone... Keep it up... spend you lowly consumers CONSUME! :)
davidhoenig 08-09-06, 01:12 PM I bought 3 instead of the two I signed up for: Constantine, Swordfish, The Last Samurai
neverman 08-09-06, 02:36 PM I bought 3, I don't think I vouched for any in this thread.
ChrisPC 08-09-06, 03:17 PM 454...
I bought 1, Aeon Flux. DVD planet shipped me 4 of the 8 I have on order.
My friend who was with me bought 2, Aeon Flux and Constantine. He's still waiting on his player from Continental rewards.
SirBaron 08-09-06, 03:25 PM I bought 12 films in the past week.
boden11 08-09-06, 04:36 PM SOOOOOOO
When's the next coordinated purchase day?? I'm thinking maybe every month? I'm already itching for some new discs...
Eric D. 08-09-06, 04:39 PM I think the next HD DVD support day should be around or on the PS3 launch.
David Susilo 08-09-06, 04:56 PM agreed!
suprmallet 08-09-06, 04:57 PM Yeah, the PS3 launch seems like the best time to do another coordinated buy day.
apodaca 08-09-06, 05:03 PM I bought three title yesterday: Sky CAptain, Pitch Black and Tomb Raider plus two titles a couple of days ago: Sahara and Sleepy Hollow.
This was fun not just for Toshiba support but for group purchase therapy support - now I feel like a normal human buying all of these HD-DVDs.
awmurray 08-09-06, 05:12 PM Yeah, the PS3 launch seems like the best time to do another coordinated buy day.
Yes, efralope was the first person to suggest this great idea back in post #30:
BTW, another silly idea for whoever thought this up to keep in the back of his head: how about we do another one of these on the launch day of PS3!!!
efralope 08-09-06, 05:19 PM based on what Warner announces from now until then, I think September 26th might not be such a bad day (especially if Universal sticks to their lineup):
9/26/2006
2 Fast 2 Furious (Universal)
Dazed and Confused (Universal) <- COMBO
End of Days (Universal)
The Fast and the Furious (Universal)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Universal)
Lake House (Warner) <- COMBO
Land of the Dead, George A. Romero's (Universal) <- COMBO
The New Orleans Concert (Concert Hot Spot) <- TWIN POSSIBLY?
Tokyo Drift, The Fast and the Furious <- COMBO
Universal will be releasing their first day and date, and all the Fast and the Furious movies.
If Warner were to launch Batman Begins, Goblet of Fire, or V for Vendetta on that day (or something of that caliber), then it would be a good day with so many releases.
November 17th is when the PS3 launches I think, and November 14th is the Tuesday before that. That might not be such a bad day, although either would be fine. If the lineup is incredible, I'd say that Tuesday, otherwise, waiting for Friday to usher in the weekend and go crazy on HD DVD movies would be fine.
I suggest that at the end of the month (hopefully by that time Warner will have announced their releases for September, as they seem to be doing them with at least 3 weeks time now), someone make a poll on whether we should have 2 more "coordinated purchase days" (Sept. 26th or if a better one rolls along around that time AND the PS3 week), or just one (PS3 week it should be in that case).
What do you guys think?
awmurray 08-09-06, 05:22 PM What do you guys think?
I'm in no matter what (for one or 2 days)... the closer to the PS3 launch the better.
Although, it could be very tricky to time something with a Sony launch, ya know? ;)
Davin_Felth 08-09-06, 05:27 PM I'm afraid I won't be buying as many of future coordinated days. I've already ordered everything I care to get that is already released and I'll be buying everything else the moment it comes out instead of waiting. :)
Pancakes_R_Evil 08-09-06, 05:32 PM I actually found this thread because I was thinking how cool it would be if we all teamed up to show our support for HD-DVD....it's great that i'm not alone! :)
Anyway, I bought 3 titles yesterday- Pitch Black, Dukes of Hazzard, and Jarhead......I now own 5 HD-DVD'S, which is pretty good, considering that I bought into DVD very early and to this day only own about 18 dvd's.....such is my commitment to HD-DVD!
And i would love to do another couple of support days. Especially if we continue to get the word out..... I vote for the PS3 release day, but i'm in any day....!
I'm stockpiled up for the moment plus have everything in the near future that I want pre-ordered. As long as we continue to purchase HD DVD's we are supporting it.
As for another coordinated effort, I think we should select specific days to call, write, email specific companies, stores and studios to request support
As for another coordinated effort, I think we should select specific days to call, write, email specific companies, stores and studios to request support
A good idea - maybe someone could collect and publicize the info we could all use to voice our opinion - mailing addresses (both email and snail), who to direct it to, etc.
You can count on me to voice my opinion!
Next group buy definitely has to be on Playstation 3's launch (tentative 11/17/06). If there is any time to make an impact with sales figures, that is the day.
Unfortunately I only was able to pick up "Ray" despite my prior commitment to three titles. The Best Buy that I had arranged in-store pickup at (W. Paterson, NJ) had no one manning the pickup window and I stood there for 25 minutes before giving up and cancelling via my cell phone an order I had essentially already paid for. They just didn't have the service to hand me the item.
Eric D. 08-09-06, 07:09 PM So is there an official tally somewhere about how much was bought and spent on 8/8?

Cool, lets see if how many others are interested
ryoohki 08-09-06, 08:21 PM I've added Enter The Dragon, Unleashed and Animal House to my list of Aug 15th at Amazon..
already have Aeon and U2 shipped last monday..
Davin_Felth 08-09-06, 08:27 PM Cool, lets see if how many others are interested
I'd be up for it. As I recall, letters sent by snail-mail are taken more seriously though. I can handle mailing letters every once in a while, stamps aren't that expensive. :)
ryoohki 08-09-06, 08:30 PM I already sent a email to Universal Canada saying how satisfyed i was witch their HD DVD product. Some Girl (don't remember her name) said thanks in the name of the company and keep looking for more HD DVD from them (usual reply) but still they've replied to me wish was nice..
jcardona 08-09-06, 08:32 PM I purchased Sahara and Pitch Black yesterday. I didn't pledge any titles before hand.
got yesterday
last samuri
aeon flux
italian job
good fellas
contastine
BlackRiderX 08-09-06, 09:01 PM I agree with the November timeline for the next AVS Purchase Day. A lot of people have already preordered the Universal titles slated until October, so we should give them time to announce more titles. I figure November and December is when the bulk of the more popular titles will be coming out for Universal and Warner.
Don't forget, all of the studios will be watching QRT 4 sales of hardware and software. Hopefully our efforts get some studios to second guess exclusive support of Blu-Ray.
1MaNArmY 08-09-06, 10:49 PM Soldier up son and own em both!
ROGER DAT! I'm on it.
ChrisPC 08-09-06, 11:29 PM So is there an official tally somewhere about how much was bought and spent on 8/8?
Counting all the reports in this thread, we're up to 472, give or take a couple. That comes out to roughly $11,000 spent. That's preorders and purchases only on 8/8, and not counting the day before or after.
Blippy2005 08-10-06, 11:47 AM I hadn't committed to any titles but I did pick up 5 total.
Picked up We Were Soldiers, Aeon Flux and Italian Job from Best Buy.
Ordered Chronicles of Riddick and Lethal Weapon from Amazon.
dfree617 08-10-06, 02:52 PM I bought the RCA player and three discs (Rumor Has It, Assault on Precinct 13, and Syriana) at WalMart last Wednesday (8/2). On the 8th, I bought Apollo 13, Jarhead, and Serenity. On the 9th, I bought Constatine, Training Day, and Perfect Storm.
So far, I have seen RHI, AP13, A13, and Constantine. For sound quality Apollo 13 was the best and for best picture quality, Rumor Has It was best - I suppose that is because I am most impressed by vivid colors and incredible skin detail.
Thanks to those who thought up this superbuy and all those who went out and supported this fine format.
On tuesday I bought Aeon Flux, We Were Soldiers and Unleashed. I also preordered Land of the Dead, Fear and Loathing, and Army of Darkness from Amazon. So that's 6 in total from me.
This is the first time postting to this thead, I order 4 movies on the 8th
Lethal Weapon
Blazing Saddles
Serenity
Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow
And I don't even have a player yet
Scott
boden11 08-10-06, 07:57 PM I think September 26th should be the next coordinated AVS buy with the one after that being the PS3 launch (November 17th?). Sept 26th because of all those killer titles being released on that date (Fear and Loathing anyone?) and Nov 17th to show HD-DVD support??
I'm marking my calendar for 9/26 and 11/17.
nataraj 08-10-06, 08:33 PM I think September 26th should be the next coordinated AVS buy with the one after that being the PS3 launch (November 17th?). Sept 26th because of all those killer titles being released on that date (Fear and Loathing anyone?) and Nov 17th to show HD-DVD support??
I'm marking my calendar for 9/26 and 11/17.
Might also be a good idea to do this just after hd dvd add on release ... hopefully thats the same week ps3 debuts or just a little earlier.
lemming75 08-10-06, 08:41 PM I'm thinking September 19th: Backdraft, Dazed & Confused and Fear and Loathing, Land of the Dead. Don't forget Traffic, Red Dragon and Seabiscuit from the week before.
The way amazon is going, I'm just pre-ordering stuff as it becomes available
ryoohki 08-14-06, 12:11 PM What about another one on sept 26, this day is gonna be crazy for HD DVD, i'am ordering all title from today to Sept 26 on that day, i'am at 200$ LOL :)
Unless they announce some new titles SOON, I'm done ordering (pre-ordering).
There is nothing else left for me to buy
IronCamel 08-15-06, 06:51 PM I think the next HD DVD support day should be around or on the PS3 launch.
I second that
CaptDS9E 08-15-06, 07:04 PM Why not just have one group buy day a month.
David Susilo 08-15-06, 07:49 PM the impact will be better if we hold off any purchase until the day or the day after PS3 launch.
Holding off on purchases may not be the best show of support...
bakpakva 08-15-06, 07:56 PM Showing my support by burning through as many HD-DVD's as I can on Netflix. I am not buying any more discs until some new titles come out. I am tired of double dipping and I already own the SD version of what is out in HD.
Rachael Bellomy 08-15-06, 10:03 PM Why not just have one group buy day a month.
We already have 4 or 5 amonth, every tuesday... ;)
lateralus42 08-16-06, 12:19 PM I bought the RCA HD DVD player and 3 movies. Constantine, Pitch Black, and Sahara.

Exactly...
I used 8/8 to stretch the budget and buy 8 HD DVDs that I would not have picked up anytime soon.
Of course, I'll be buying titles as they come out (as I hope everyone will). But I'll definitely be stetching the budget again and buying several more for the coordinated purchase day that comes up around the PS3 launch.
I definitely want HD DVD to continue to stomp BD in the market. Studios will follow the money but they need us to show them where the money is.

Great. I'm sure you'll enjoy them and your new player. The only downside is you'll grow tired of SD after seeing how good HD DVD is. But what a great downside!
Picked up Aeon Flux and Unforgiven.

I think Amazon is crediting the sales rank for the day a titled is ordered. So if we place preorders on coordinated buy days, we'll be showing our buying power on sales ranking charts and also supporting the studios by getting their titles as soon as they ship.

True but at this point, if I like the movie, I'm pre-ordering as soon as it becomes available. Amazon has been to crazy lately with putting the pre-orders on, then taking them back off...
Anyway as long as we continue to purchase movies as they come out were supporting the format.
I think at this point, for a coordinated effort we could do something else, like all call, write, email the same studio/store requesting support for like a week...
HtLurker 08-16-06, 03:33 PM Just bought the Tosh A1 and two titles. Serenity and The Last Samurai.

I agree with you. Movie studios are more interested in total sales figures; I doubt they use Amazon ranking system to perform their financial analysis. I buy movies as soon they are available and I believe this is the best way to show support.
You want a coordinated effort to support the format, lets all keep calling Amazon till they fix/upate there HD DVD title section...

I bet they use the first week sales to project how well each title will sell though, which could influence how much support they show in the immediate future. That's why I think it's important to buy each title right away as it's released, instead of waiting to buy it later.
Plus pre-ordering when it becomes available is usually at a discounted price, plus lets these places not is they should increase stock etc before the actual release

This is also a good point in favor of buying when they get released.
SPU Big A 08-19-06, 05:55 PM My 3 disk purchase from Amazon.com ended up "undeliverable" for some reason and was sent back by the Post Office. Amazon refunded the purchase, but I just don't understand how the same address I've been using for 5 years with other orders at Amazon.com didn't work this time. Take my 3 off the tally for this go around, I think for our next mass purchase day I'll try someone other than Amazon.

Do you happen to have multiple shipping address's saved in your amazon account? Maybe it went to another address, I had that happen to me on one order even though I could swear I selected my proper address for the shipping
ryoohki 08-19-06, 07:27 PM LOL i just saw Unleashed and Animal House localy here at 34.99$CAD+15%tx (about 40$) ... i paid about 27$CAD tax free, including Express Shipping from Amazon! LOL since i ordered 3 of them!
SPU Big A 08-20-06, 02:50 AM Tom: I had 2 of the exact same address in amazon's address book, same address I've been using for years. I even ordered off my wishlist so that it would basically force me to use the address (not that I needed to be forced to). All in all, a very bad amazon experience.

SirDrexl 08-20-06, 07:33 AM When I received my order the invoice said it was for August 7th. :(
I ordered at about 12:30 AM in the Central time zone. Is it Pacific time, or do they have another system that goes by the business day?
I think Amazon's computers are calibrated to Pacific time.
David Susilo 08-20-06, 10:13 AM I still haven't received my orders that was shipped on August 7th, yet I received the order that was shipped on August 10th was received 3 days later. The CSR told me they can't re-ship the order or refund my money until August 28th. :(
chad_cincy 01-12-07, 08:13 PM I think it's time to do another Coordinated AVS HD DVD purchase. Lots of folks with new A2's and 360 addons from Santa that can now participate!
I'm thinking Groundhog Day (2/2) is an easy day to remember and gives us time to spread the word, save, whatever... :)
Bob Black 01-12-07, 08:15 PM My problem is finding pre-orders that I haven't already purchased! I still have $200 in amazon gift certs waiting for something to buy! Hurry up, amazon, and list Departed, Happy Feet and others.
David Susilo 01-12-07, 08:16 PM this only works if there are lots of titles to be bought. So far, there are only 5 must-buy titles for me on HD DVD for this year and 10 must-buy titles for BD (based on the 2007 CES-announced title list).
chad_cincy 01-12-07, 08:31 PM I won't argue that I'd love to see more titles. However, I've only got 29 at the moment (3 of which I purchased today) and there are still several I'd like to have.
Certainly most people have not already purchased everything they want.
