Well I think my tv buying adventure is over. I finally found a decent hdtv I like.
I started off with buying a Samsung 27in Slimfit HDTV (TXS2782H) Got it open box from CC for [EDIT]. Took it home relized it really wasn't big enough. Picture looked grainy on standard comcast cable. Which is what I have. Also it gave me a 2 in black box all the way round the picture when I ran a HD Antenna for over the air. Roomie suggested that I might need a widescreen tv to fix the problem. So I returned it back to CC. Found the Philips 30in widescreen hd tube ( 30PW9110D) I really liked this tv, but it was way to heavy. And again got it open box. It was a display model from a diff Circuit City. For some reason my local store got swamped with tons of open box tvs. Got this one for [EDIT] orignally priced for [EDIT] The picture was a lil better over the sammy. But since it was an open box I couldnt get the picture settings right, and the look made me think of when you had a monitor on for an extended period of time and the image is seared into it.
So today, since I was tired of my local CC knowing me by sight I drove to a diff cities' to check out their selection and to return my philips. After a detour to Best Buy, I went to CC and came upon the Magnavox 32MF231D 32in LCD HDTV. I really like it out of all the ones I tested:) but yea lcd is better than tube. Got a semi open box for [EDIT] vs the instore price of [EDIT] But it might as well have been a sealed box. The quality for the price I paid is awsome I really like it, color is great, running hdmi on a upconverting dvd player is nice too. Resolution and all the other settings are good too. Standard cable reception thru the wall is still grainy but not as grainy as the other 2 models I tested. Any one know some good settings to have it on?
While I was at bestbuy I was considering was: Anyone have experience with em?

Westinghouse 32in LCD HDTV (LTV-32w6 HD) [EDIT]

Toshiba Theaterwide 30" widescreen hdtube (30HF66) [EDIT]

Additonal equipment running in my system:
Yamaha HTR-5640 5.1 av reciever
JBL Monitor for my fronts
JBL Voice for my center
Pioneer S-HF21-LR for my rears.
Sony 8" (SA-WM250) Sub
Philips DVP5960 dvd hdmi player, Saw great improvment in this model over the Philips DVP642 which I returned to I could use the hdmi cable feature.
So whatcha think of my system? I got a pretty good deal on the Yama and JBL stuff as part of a package.
Also, any one know the difference between Philips "PTX" model of HDMI cables vs. the M6000'S models? The M's seem to be newer but the PTX where liek $10 more.

I too purchased a Magnavox 32MF231D 32" LCD HDTV open box from CC. I am very pleased with the TV after having used it for two weeks. I am receiving around 10 Digital channels via an OTA UHF antenna tha I haven't used for several years. I also have Dishnetwork, but do not subscribe to HD programming at the present time. I am waiting to see what DirecTV has available as they are advertising 150 HD channels coming soon.

I have an RCA DVD/Recorder that upscales to HD and does a nice job on my old DVD's. I will wait a little while to allow HD-DVD and BD players/recorders to drop in price and see which format if any is the winner before purchasing. I have bought too much bleeding edge technology in the past and paid a tremendous price for it.

I am very pleased with this TV, especially with CC matching HHGreggs low price, an open box discount and 24 months same as cash financing.
