I'm looking into getting a speaker system in my bedroom, but i'm not sure what I exactly want. I know I want 5.1 system with small satellite speakers and not too expensive (around $300). I have two in mind; one is KEF kht-1005 or the Spherex 5.1 system. They both are under $230 and are small.
I'm not looking to blow the roof off of my house, just have a great sounding system that's better then the internal speakers on my 32" Samsung LCD. So if anyone has any good suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You may want to look into the Logitech Z-5500. It can be had for ~$230. That is what I have in my bedroom. It is THX Certified and the sound is better than many HTIB's in the same price category. The satelites are small and easily wall mountable and the sib has plenty of hard hitting bass. It has both a Coax and Optical input and 3 analog inputs that can either be used separately as 2 channel inputs, or as a 6 channel (5.1) input from your PC or external decoder. BTW, it also has DTS, DTS 196/24, and Dolby Digital decoders built in (hense the optical inputs). I've had mine since before Christmas.
I'm going to have to check that system out, cause I have the Z-5300 for my PC and I forgot about looking at Logitech. I love my PC system except that I can't plug any inputs on the back of it. Thanks for the suggestion.

The sub on the Z-5500 is a huge step up from the Z-5300. I was looking at that system until I found the Z-5500. The satelites are also beefier and sound better as well. All of the inputs are on the back of the control station. Also, some of the pics will show RCA jacks for the speakers but that was only the first year of the model. Most have spring loaded jacks so you can use better speaker wire or other speakers later on.

I'm looking at the Z-5500 also. Is there a model number that has the spring loaded jacks? After finally seeing a set in person(with RCA jacks) I was immediately convinced I'd want this over similarly priced full sized units. Much better sound to my surprise, and the control unit looks incredible. Much taller than pics indicate.
I use the z-5500's on my pc and they are awesome. Logitech stopped using the rca connector quite some time ago. All new sets will have the spring jacks. Make sure you get them from a place that rotates stock often or you might get an old set. I got mine from Newegg about a year ago and they were using the new ones.
