View Full Version : Post the Wal-Mart Locations stocking HD-DVD
COACH2369 08-08-06, 08:57 PM I was thinking that we should have a thread where people can post the Wal-Mart locations they have been able to purchase HD-DVD's and what kind of selection and pricing they are finding. Since it is very hit and miss, I thought this might be a good thread. If we need to merge this with another thread, then please go ahead and do it.
Here is what I have so far:
1. Ft Wright, KY - most WB titles & Paramount titles. The combo discs were priced $29.99 and the rest were $19.99.
2. London, KY - same as above
3. Knoxville, KY(Parkside Dr.) - several slots setup, but only a few in stock.
4. Atlanta(Duluth), GA (Pleasant Hill Rd.) - on the video game endcap locked up and it was hard to tell what they had.
I will post more if I can find them.
QUICK NOTE: All these locations had plenty of BD in stock, and it appeared that they were not selling well.

Across from BB, staggering (OK an exaggeration) in that i counted 40 plus titles minus 5-6 that were out of stock.
That was in late July, and they did not have any player in stock.
Tom Bley 08-08-06, 09:10 PM Wal-Mart Store #5060
1410 South Randall Road
Algonquin, IL 60102

No players yet but, they have HD-DVD & Blur-Ray titles.
ChrisPC 08-08-06, 09:10 PM Nashville area:
1. Antioch - Most titles in stock, but running low: most are $19.99. BD is there, but not selling. No players.
2. Nolensville - A few titles in stock, also running low, practically all are $19.99. BD also, also not selling. No players.
I'm sure there are others, but I haven't gotten to them yet.
Someone let me know if they have seen them in the Philadelphia area? :(
ChrisW6ATV 08-08-06, 09:32 PM San Leandro, Cal. is the only S.F. Bay Area store I have found that carries them. (Pleasanton, Livermore, Union City, Fremont, Milpitas do not, so far.)
Coach-
I recommend that if you have the time, continually update your first post in this topic to include the stores people have found, alphabetically by state then city. Thanks for starting this topic.
COACH2369 08-08-06, 10:16 PM That is a great idea Chris, I will update my post with the store listings by state. Now with my work and coaching schedule, it might take me a couple of days to update things....
I am hoping we can get everybody a title or two via Wal-Mart!
jgantert 08-08-06, 10:30 PM Bel Air, MD. RCA HD DVD players & HD DVD discs. Few BR discs.
Towson, MD. Toshiba HD DVD players & both HD DVD & BR discs.
They're the only one in MD that I can find with HD DVD, even players instock. (No for Eldersburg, Arundle Mills, Westminster, Laurel, Columbia, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Aberdeen, and Vineland NJ). Cheap prices $20 for everything, except Rumor Has It.
-John
UPDATE: 8/13 Added Towson. Large selection of BR here, as well as the Toshiba HD-D1 player $498. They also have a demo unit playing Apollo 13.
Wal-Mart:
Turnersville, NJ
heavyharmonies 08-08-06, 10:32 PM Urbana, IL and Savoy, IL both have excellent selections of HD-DVD, just don't expect new releases on new release day; wait a week or two. Hybrids are $29.99, all others are $19.96.
No idea about the Champaign, IL store.
Otter0911 08-08-06, 10:33 PM Woodhaven Mi. Has every title at 19.98 except Rumor has it at 29.98
fullclipfink 08-08-06, 10:34 PM Indianapolis, IN (Keystone)
They certainly don't have the best selection, but they actually have some of the newer Paramount titles. Every disc they have is priced at $19.99 (excluding the combos of course). They're section looks like it's expanding each week.
Fredericksburg, VA
1) Central Park - Store #1833 : NONE!!! (i tracked down the person who is responsible for all dvds, etc, and asked him where the HD titles were... his response: "Nope! They made us send 'em back!" i thought people were making that up, but apparently, it is true at some Wal-Marts...)
2) Rte 3 East - Store #2520 (Washington Plaza - heading towards King George) : no HD-DVD titles, and 4-5 Blu-Ray titles...
3) SouthPoint II - Store #5343 (Massaponax) : Jackpot... 20-30 HD-DVD titles all priced ~$20 for non-combos, and ~10 Blu-Ray titles all around $25...
hope this helps...
legbone 08-08-06, 10:49 PM Russellville, Arkansas. Nice selection but they seem to get them late. Usually about a week after release. Most are 19.96 (except for the hybrids and a few others). They also carry the RCA players. They also have quite a selection of Blu-Ray for anyone that is interested. They actually have a better selection of Blu-Ray because they are not selling. ;)
atagert 08-09-06, 12:14 AM Norristown, PA Walmart. I have seen the almost all the movies there, but the store sells them fast.

Most HD DVD titles are $19.96 (except for the combos). They usually lag a week or so after release date before actually getting them in.
No players yet
That's the only one I know of in Utah that carries HD DVD software
jaymerkramer 08-09-06, 12:24 AM Ofallon Mo, Hwy. K Walmart had several movies and RCA players in stock last week.
junglejim9823 08-09-06, 12:38 AM Southern Ave-East Mesa, AZ- This store has Universal, Paramount and WB tittles. Only saw one HD-D1 and it was the display model back in it's box.

hobbs47 08-09-06, 12:41 AM Covina,CA
Terrantula 08-09-06, 01:41 AM Las Vegas, NV. Super Wal-Marts on tropical and also the one in Henderson on Marks Street I think.

Craigslue 08-09-06, 02:33 AM Topeka KS
Walmart on 37th, also has 4 RCA players
Not sure about the Hypermart store, last time I looked they didn't have any
nonametofame 08-09-06, 03:16 AM The only Wal Mart in Orange County that I believe carries them is in Westminster, CA.
No players at the moment, but here's what I spotted. There are placeholders for just about almost every Hd movie released so far, even one for Troy. Unfortunately, there were only about 10 titles available, including: Pitch Black, Four Brothers, We Were Soldiers, Tomb Raider, The Manchurian Candidate, Friday Night Lights, Sahara, Sleepy Hollow, and Happy Gilmore and The Rundown on a seperate shelf. They must be selling well as all the WB titles that were there berfore were missing.
guamster 08-09-06, 03:26 AM Southern California (L.A.) area:
I've seen HDDVD's at the Walmarts at Porter Ranch and in Valencia. The Porter Ranch Walmart has the RCA player on display.
As of a month ago, the Walmart in West Hills did not have any HDDVD's.
ghettogreg 08-09-06, 03:56 AM The Oxnard, CA location usually has a limited selection of titles due to high sales. I haven't seen any new titles from the past month though (e.g no Paramount titles whatsoever). Almost all of them (except the combos) are $19.99. They also seem to get new RCA players in stock every several weeks, but they sell quickly.
Needless to say, the Blu-ray titles are always fully stocked.
f1restarter 08-09-06, 04:02 AM Atleast 2 walmarts in the Colorado Springs, CO area have almost all the HD-DVDs and RCA players.
Wal-mart Store #0079

North Olmstead-last time I was there they didn't have any either
Mr. Cinema 08-09-06, 02:59 PM Raleigh, NC
HD DVD and BD are in the middle of the "new release" aisle. 20+ titles of HD DVD.
Bill C. 08-09-06, 06:02 PM The Wal-Mart Supercenter in east Plano, TX (Spring Creek and I-75) has their HD DVDs and BDs split: some are actually at the bottom row of a set of glass DVD cases in their A/V section, and some are stuck one aisle over (but in the open) by various family films and VHS tapes. They've also had an RCA HDV5000, NIB, down the aisle from that for at least a month now. (No sign of a BD player, of course.)
(Not quite the same thing, but the Sam's Club across the freeway from the WM has a suckier HD DVD selection--all WB titles, at least as of last night--but more HDV5000s: nine at ground level, IIRC, and possibly more stashed away.)
Wal-Mart near 38th Avenue N & Park St, St. Petersburg, FL. No HD DVDs, BDs or players.
I haven't checked the SuperCenter in Pinellas Park or in South St. Pete.
Robert Clark 08-09-06, 07:17 PM The only Wal Mart in Orange County that I believe carries them is in Westminster, CA.
No players at the moment, but here's what I spotted. There are placeholders for just about almost every Hd movie released so far, even one for Troy. They must be selling well as all the WB titles that were there berfore were missing.
I was at the Westminster Walmart two nights ago (Beach and the 22) and all of their HD-DVD's were gone. Perhaps the Beach and Talbert one has the above titles.
The Walmart at the Orange Mall (Village) has the RCA player and several HD-DVDs...
tormond 08-09-06, 07:35 PM Greenville NC,
Couldnt tell you I haven't been inside a Walmart in over 10 years but maybe I can get my wife to look (Not that she has any idea what a HDDVD is other than "You spent money again didn't you" )
Sanford, Florida.
Lot's of movies for both, no player.
Sam :)
Vipper IV 08-09-06, 09:26 PM Bel Air, MD. It's the only one in MD that I can find with HD DVD, even 2 players instock. (No for Laurel, Columbia, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Aberdeen, and Vineland NJ). Cheap prices $20 for everything, except Rumor Has It.

I'm actually impressed with that Wal-Mart; for what the store is, the selection ain't half bad. Additionally, the prices are as low, if not lower, than the prices on Amazon.
Gary Murrell 08-09-06, 10:02 PM Supercenter at Paintsville, KY, every title so far(including Paramounts) except 16 blocks, also every BR release
-Gary
COACH2369 08-09-06, 10:38 PM I am going to update the first post tomorrow night with an updated list by state.

That's the only one I know of in Utah.
Interesting. I'll have to check that out.
Charles O 08-10-06, 02:07 AM Honolulu(Keeaumoku) Wal-Mart:
4ft section divided with HD-DVD/Blu-Ray...too many "open" slots.
Has 2 RCA players but it's priced at $582???? They actually have sold 4. Sears across the street has the Toshiba for $499. So much for Always Low Prices.

BigMikeATL 08-10-06, 09:32 AM All metro-atlanta stores I have visited (4 in total) stock HD DVD discs. I have only seen the players are 2 of those locations.
Fayetteville, Arkansas
2 Supercenters, both have HD-DVD movies in stock, both have carried RCA and Tosh HD-D1, both have sold out of players and restocked at least once, as of last week only one RCA player left between the 2 but both stores expect more players in September. Good movie selection.
Lowell, Arkansas (between Springdale and Rogers)
Supercenter, has good selection of HD-DVD's. Sold out of both RCA and Tosh HD-D1
Rogers, Arkansas
Supercenter, HD-DVD titles, no word on players
Bentonville, Arkansas

Beerstalker 08-10-06, 12:58 PM Peoria, IL Allen Rd Walmart has most HD DVDs and all available Blu Rays in stock as of yesterday. $20 and $30 for HD DVDs, $20 and $25 for Blu Ray.
DrCrawn 08-10-06, 01:11 PM Renton WA walmart on Ranier Ave. They have both players and movies.
Thanks, I drove all the way to the Lynnwood store which of course had none of either format.
txfilmguy 08-10-06, 01:21 PM Wal-Mart on George W. Bush tollway in Garland Texas previously had pulled all HD DVDs and Blu-rays the same time they started selling the RCA HD DVD player. They just recently began selling both disc formats again, though a limited selection.

jahummer 08-10-06, 04:09 PM Wal-Mart near 38th Avenue N & Park St, St. Petersburg, FL. No HD DVDs, BDs or players.
I haven't checked the SuperCenter in Pinellas Park or in South St. Pete.
Both Super Centers on US 19 north and south have HD & BD discs and Toshiba players (in the stock room, you have to ask)
smkonica 08-10-06, 04:12 PM East Stroudsburg PA
They have had them in stock since release of HD-DVD.
Picked up 3 new releases last Sat. for 19.99 each
Cheaper than BB on almost every title. BB has not the Best price for DVD's for a long time now.
Samfield 08-10-06, 04:26 PM Any Wal-Marts in the Pittsburgh, PA area, or Western Pennsylvania carrying HD-DVD?
ktoolsie 08-11-06, 12:34 PM Super-Walmart in Marietta, Georgia on Cobb Parkway (US 41) just south of the Big Chicken has a good selection of HD DVDs and BDs, plus the RCA HD DVD player.
The price on all of their discs was $20 apart from Rumor Has it which was $27. I did not see any combo discs besides that one (no KKBB or 16 Blocks) and they had not got Aeon Flux in yet. I did pick up 4 Brothers.
What's dumb is that they have some of the discs locked in a case and some across the aisle in the middle of the New Realeases section.
methos75 08-11-06, 12:59 PM The Wal-Mart in Colorado Springs on Powers got all their stock in Tuesday, they have pretty much every release now for $20.
Walmart in both Missisauga stores.
Walmart in Vestal NY
sdlehman 08-11-06, 04:25 PM Walmart at Lindbergh and I-44 in Kirkwood MO has 3 RCA units.
Stace
IronCamel 08-11-06, 05:03 PM Reno, NV
West Mc Carran Supercenter
North Mc Carran Walmart
I saw movies at both, but no players. They were swamped as usual so I didn't ask if they had some in the back.
Jackson, MI has good selection of HD DVD, actually better selection than local BB
aaron_hinni 08-11-06, 05:32 PM Manchester MO (I think it is called the Town and Country Wal-Mart)... on Manchester Rd close to 270 carries both HD DVD and BD disks in the same isle as the new releases.
They had one RCA player for MSRP.
Houston, TX
I am sure we have about 40 or 50 of them in Houston. In my little 5 mile radius in North Houston there are 4 of them!:
Super Walmart at 1960 & Willowbrook = Complete display setup with RCA HD DVD Player, sofa, sound system, and every disc!
Super Walmart at 1960 near Stubner Highway = RCA HD DVD player and a moderate selection of HD DVD movies.
Superwalmart at I-45N and Louetta = RCA HD DVD players and a very good selection of HD DVD movies.
Super Walmart at I-45 and West Ave. = RCA HD DVD players and a very good selection of HD DVD movies.
And they are usually priced at Amazon discount prices or less. :)
atagert 08-11-06, 06:24 PM Any Wal-Marts in the Pittsburgh, PA area, or Western Pennsylvania carrying HD-DVD?
I haven't been in one that has any, but I haven't been in a walmart in pittsburgh lately. I was going to go start looking, which ones do you know that don't have them?
Adam

Great Selection of movies! However, no Toshiba or RCA HD-DVD players.
kmoore134 08-12-06, 08:32 PM Both walmarts in East Vancouver WA, Near Mill Plain and 205 and Mill Plain and 192nd carry HD-DVD and the RCA players. One of them stopped carrying them for about a month, saying it was "too confusing" but I just checked today, and they are back again :) Score one for HD-DVD !
Eric D. 08-13-06, 12:22 PM Any chance someone at the top of the first page can group all this together? It's kind of hard to sift through 3 pages worth of stuff.
Rikimaru 08-13-06, 01:22 PM Wal-Mart Supercenter #420 in Wichita Falls, TX. I believe the other Wal-Mart Supercenter in town has the same selection of hardware/movies. #420 has the RCA HD DVD player, and carries more HD DVD than Blu-Ray titles.
mikey mo 08-13-06, 02:53 PM Mulberry, FL Supercenter on Rt 37 south of Lakeland.
BlackRiderX 08-13-06, 03:16 PM No Wal-marts in my area, Wilkes-Barre, carry any HD hardware or software yet. I was out of the area yesterday and found one that did however.

I am currently working on this. We had wonderful weather in Cincinnati this weekend so I spent most of the weekend outside. My goal is to get it completed before I leave for the Bengals game. If not, it will be done tomorrow evening!
Thanks,

Good job! This can really save people the hassle of trying to find a WM near them since so few carry the new formats.
-John
In San Diego County..
The Walmart in Eastlake in Chula Vista has a pretty good selection now.
I picked up Ray, Million Dollar Baby, Training Day, and Sleepy Hollow, for example. All of the titles they had in stock were all in the $19.XX range.
I was told a few weeks ago that the store was discontinuing their supply of HDDVD and BR titles. Guess they had a change of mind.

mageeks 08-17-06, 10:51 PM Work had me way down highway 124 (Scenic Highway,Snellville,Atlanta) almost in Lithonia and I stopped at the New WM there. They had 1 RCA on display and 3 more underneath. I was very suprised. There was a much better than average (for Atlanta) selection of movies. I had to pick up RAY just because I could. They had a lot of the Paramount titles. Maybe things are looking up for Georgia.
Logan, UT Wal-Mart Supercenter stocks hd dvds. They lag behind almost a week but they are all twenty bucks a pop except of course for the combos.

I was in this store today. I counted 27 HD DVD and 21 Blu-Ray titles.
They are all located in the 'New Releases' section. I could not find any

narcopolo 08-27-06, 06:44 PM I saw a handful of older stock titles at Walmart Riverdale UT. Do they ever re-stock?
Wal-Mart's up here have everything except Paramount HD DVD's...!!!
soul_feast 08-27-06, 07:21 PM WalMart in Roseville, CA had two players on Friday. I bought one at full price--$498. Picked up three titles, Phantom, Sahara & Sky Captain. They had a few more titles. Price was $19.96 each for the movies.
Tried to talk them down in price on the player based on posts in the forum.
WalMart on Antelope, Sacramento, CA had no players or movies.
San Antonio North side off of I-10 has DVD and Blu-ray! Bought Serenity there today! Had to order Aeon Flux from Walmart.com, though.

narcopolo 09-05-06, 11:07 PM Riverdale, UT store had a RCA player on the clearance shelf. Took it to the register and it rang up at $498. I put it back, although I put where the reg. priced equipment belongs.
dalidvd 09-06-06, 09:31 AM Anybody seen HD-DVDs in any of the Walmarts in Western Mass? I called a bunch of local Walmarts and none of them seemed to have any in stock.
palofex 09-06-06, 11:25 AM The walmart in North Canton, Ohio has HD DVDs although when I stopped in yesterday to grab some they only had about 3 left and most copies were sold out.
ChrisPC 09-06-06, 01:52 PM The WM on Nolensville Road here in Nashville still has a couple of RCA players left at $498.
craftech 09-06-06, 09:35 PM Walmart in Fishkill NY. HD-DVDs running low in stock.

badgerfan 09-07-06, 01:47 AM Super Wal-Mart had 4 RCA HD DVD players now down to 2. Have about 20 HD DVD titlea, all around $19.95.
Not bad for a town of 7,800 population
MisoSoup 09-07-06, 04:22 PM Palmdale, CA Super Walmart stocking HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
ricwhite 09-07-06, 08:41 PM Riverdale, UT store had a RCA player on the clearance shelf. Took it to the register and it rang up at $498. I put it back, although I put where the reg. priced equipment belongs.
I bet you were excited there for a few minutes. The Layton Wal-mart had an RCA player that was a online purchase open-box return. I thought for sure they would discount it. No go. $498.
FoolintheRain 09-07-06, 11:27 PM Walmart on Hilliard-Rome Rd in Columbus, OH...technically Hilliard. They have the RCA, or at least did when I bought it in July! Gotta love the 90 return policy too :)
The wally world in Jackson,TN(van drive) has HD-DVD's and the RCA HD players(still $498 :( ). It's sad cause the same two players have been sitting on the shelf there for a month or more. I asked a sales associate if they'd sold any players...her reply....NO.
Brandon is just a bit East of Tampa.
Saw about a 2' wide (4 wide) section for both formats. HD-DVD selection was at eye and mid level, full width. The Blu-ray titles were at the floor level, only 2 high. About 8 titles for HD-DVD and 6 for Blu-ray. About half of the spaces allowed were empty. Looked weak.
No players were in stock.

brywalker 09-08-06, 10:53 PM I haven't found any in CT yet.
LAME.
GizmoDVD 09-08-06, 11:06 PM The Wal-Mart is Oxnard, CA has nearly every HD-DVD movie except Aeon Flux. Not bad as almost all of the are $19.99 (except for the combos)
RayPaganJr 09-09-06, 09:38 AM Pembroke Pines, Florida. Bought five titles for 19.96. Going back today to purchase more titles.
I Superman I 09-09-06, 10:43 AM The Walmart at the Long Beach Town Center in Long Beach now has both HD DVD and BD titles, which is weird because they ahve been removed before, I just went in tonite to find about 10 titles for each format in stock where they used to be, nothing that new, the Paramount titles were the newest ones they had, but glad to see they are back.
guitarman 09-09-06, 02:34 PM I just drove 25miles to a Wal Mart in Martinez Ca, because when I called and specifically asked for the New HD-DVDs and was told Yes we have them. I got over there and there were only SD DVD's, grrrrr!
Make sure you spell it out even better than I did if you call by phone.
I stop checking/buying HD DVD's at Wal-Mart...I stopped by to see if they have the latest...it's bad enough that they keep it stored in the corner of Electronics Department...it's even worst that they Covered it up with Sony's PSP's...!!!
splatterhouse 09-09-06, 09:09 PM Sheridan store in Westminster, Colorado had about 15-18 different titles as of a week ago.

Was in Brandon WalMart by Brandon TownCentre last night...they have RCA HD players but took a long time to find...they are on some shelves with TV's just in front of the electronics area, not inside the electronics area. Full retail price, though.
ricwhite 09-15-06, 11:13 PM LOL Here we go again. Last week I was in my local Walmart and the electronics manager said that they are planning reorganization of the DVD department and there will be a section featuring both Blu-ray and HD DVD. They would be doing the big reorganization Thursday Night (Sept 14th) and be fully stocked and ready on Friday, September 15th.
So I go there this evening (September 15th) and see nothing. I ask the electronics guy where the big HD DVD display is and he tells me they don't carry them and I would have to get them online. I tell him about my conversation with the manager the week prior and he shrugs and repeats that he never heard of any plans for any section for HD DVDs.
This VERY SAME THING has now been going on for six months. I've been asking about HD DVDs since April and I'm always told "next month". With this latest conversation I asked the manager if she was SURE it would happen and she said "absolutely, guaranteed -- September 15th".
LOL

FroDaddy 09-17-06, 11:38 AM The Fleming Island area super-Walmart in Orange Park, FL has some HD-DVD and blu-ray titles but no players. However, the movies haven't been stocked very well.
jefe noche 09-17-06, 02:24 PM You can now add Bakersfield, CA (the one on Rosedale Hwy) to the list.
Bob Black 09-18-06, 02:38 PM All my local Wal-Marts in NH have cut back most of their HD titles. I visited 2 today because I have a gift card and wanted to pick up Troy or LW2, and neither had more than 10 titles total in the stores.
I called another store in Manchester, NH and was told by the electronics dept. mgr that sales of HD and BD weren't what the company expected, so they were downsizing the inventory. He also stated that they had plans to increase the HD selections after the PS3 launched in November. He claimed that they would increase floor space for BOTH formats at that time. He also knew that the general impression of Blu-Ray is currently not good. I told him that they certainly wouldn't see improved sales when all they have in their stores are Last Samurai, POTO, and Serenity that have all been out since early spring!!
I can always go to Wal-mart.com for Troy if I want to pay full-freakin' MSRP on the bloody thing!
erandmckay 09-18-06, 03:53 PM Idaho Falls, Idaho has HD-DVD in stock at $19.95, the assortment varies by week. The Walmart in Ammon, Idaho doesn't stock them.
Not many HDDVD titles left, but they do have plenty of BR titles:
Franklin, TN (Mallory Ln)
MarcoAD 12-03-06, 08:18 PM Super Walmart
Tampa, FL on Hillsborough about mile past Oldsmar Flea Market
They seem to always have a few in, including some of the newer releases. Never huge amount of each but always atleast 8 titles or so.
Wal-Mart
HW-138 Stockbridge, GA. Used to have the RCA but I have not seen in in several months. They have a few of both HD-DVD & Blu-RAy.
Steve Carr 12-03-06, 08:33 PM San Leandro, Cal. is the only S.F.
Gilroy,CA has a Super Wal-Mart with some titles in stock. They even have a Philips Blu-Ray player instock $898.
quikric 12-03-06, 08:35 PM The Wal-Mart on Grape Road in Mishawak Indiana carries both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray,but it is really hit or miss on what they get in new release wise for both.
I've seen as few as 1 per title to as many as 8,and usually once sold they dont get many of the newer releases back in.
Odd as they still have copies of the first launch release titles for Both HD and Blu-Ray.
Prices range from $19.plus change to around $27.99 for the HD combos, when you can find the combos.
I know many hate the HD combo discs,I dont mind them myself as long as they are the HD 30/DVD 9's,but wish they would do single sided combo's with cover art on the other side as it seems duel sided discs are sure prone to scrathes.
But boy do the combo's seem to fly off the shelves fast.
Seems like the combos even at the higher prices sell much better at least at this Wal-Mart than just the Rregular HD or Blu's do!
GeorgeLV 12-03-06, 09:00 PM I believe every Wal-mart Supercenter in Las Vegas has them.
I can personally vouch for the Wal-mart Supercenters on

pedra12 12-04-06, 08:24 PM No Sure if this one has been added, but the Super Target on Gunn Highway in Tampa has a decent selection.
mdbarke1030 12-05-06, 11:57 PM Walmart #2855 as of 9pm central time, had one RCA HD-DVD player marked down to $196 I used my 20% off on the other one and ended up picking it up for $156+tax. Couldn't pass that one up.

Hi Dan,
I was at the WalMart Supercenter in Osprey today. They had about 10 HD DVD titles, most going for about $20. They also had an RCA HD player with HDTV's just in front of the DVD/electronics area.
I was also at the regular store at Lockwood Ridge today. They don't normally stock HD DVDs, although today they had a special display with just the Miami Vice title. Earlier in the week I visited the regular store at Cattemen Road, they don't stock HD DVD titles.

I passed by the Lockwood Ridge store on 12/29 looking for Superman Returns
and they had no idea what HD-DVD were, and no a trace of HD-DVD player or movies. Went to the Super Target nearby (University Parkway & I-75) and saw they still had some really old releases...
Since I'm not from around that area, I will check the Osprey store next time I'm in
the area. Was SR there for $20?

Hi,
No, Superman Returns wasn't selling in HD DVD.
puddy77 12-11-06, 09:13 AM Super Wal-mart in Jacksonville FL, the one at Kernan and Atlantic (must be specific because there are a bunch in Jacksonville) carries a good selection of hd dvd's. I bought the Mission Impossible pack for $60 and Superman Returns for $20.
They are packed in a glass case with blu-rays. They used to be faced front with a decent display, but since the PS3 came out they moved them to a case with a bunch of other miscellaneous crap. It's a pain, you have to read the spines. Hopefully they will fix it after the holiday rush dies back down.
PULSAR3002 04-25-07, 06:52 PM Walmart in Hampton VA has a very small selection of both and players.

Denny_S 04-25-07, 07:35 PM I live in Scarborough (Ont., Canada) and the 4 Walmarts within a 50 mile radius all carry HD DVDs (& Blu as well...).
1) Morningside & 401
2) Sheppard & Kennedy Rd.
3) Scarborough Town Centre
4) Superstore at Eglinton & Warden.
Saratoga, NY walmarts stocks both blu-ray and hd-dvd movies the selection is half and half about 8 discs per type. the store also sells 2 hd-dvd players the HD-D1 by toshiba, and the rca HDV5000. for blu-ray players they sell the philips BDP900/37 and the ps3 along with ps3 games
fistofsouth 04-25-07, 07:51 PM Wal-Mart on George W. Bush tollway in Garland Texas previously had pulled all HD DVDs and Blu-rays the same time they started selling the RCA HD DVD player. They just recently began selling both disc formats again, though a limited selection.
The South West Garland Super Wal-Mart (Old Hyper-Mart) at Shiloh Road and Kingsley also has HD DVDs and Blu-Ray software.
They have always stocked HD DVD, but the selection varies. Sometimes they have 30 or so titles in their own section and at other times they have only a handful (4 or 5) HD DVDs mixed in with the Blu-Ray Discs. They do seem to get new HD DVD releases because I have seen The Departed, The Good Shepard and Children of Men at that location.
HD DVDs obviously sell better than Blu-Rays at this Wal-Mart location because the Blu-ray selection is fairly static and the shelf inventory is always about the same with the occasional new release mixed in. The HD DVDs are a crapshoot; inventory constantly changes and it is almost never in the exact same location. I think they are selling a bunch of HD DVDs at this particular Wal-Mart.
There is another Wal-Mart in Garland off of I-30, but I have not looked at that location for HD DVDs.

2. McKinney @ Lake Forest Drive- Some new releases and some older titles (mostly older combos). $26.99 to $29.99 Combos and $19.99 non-combos. Approximately 8-12 titles.

College Station, TX
Both have a very limited selection and the staff is completely inept when it comes to HD-DVD or BD but it's WalMart that's to be expected. :D
