I have recently purchased a "Lite On" PVR which has both IEEE 1394 (Firewire), S-Video and Composite Video connections. What I want to do is connect my laptop (Samsung V25) via Firewire to transfer video/audio from the laptop to the PVR - incidentally, both have 4 pin connectors.
The first problem is: LiteOn support say it's not possible using Firewire, and who am I to disagree with them?
I can connect via the s-video/composite connections, but recording is in "real" time which is a "real" pain in the backside!
The LiteOn proprietory software for transfer of DV is called "Rec Link", a search of Google brings up several thousands of reponses, but as always, sorting the wheat from the chaff is near on impossible.
I have tried connecting and XP recognises the firewire connection, but that's it, I can't gain access to the HDD on the PVR, nor does the PVR recognise the laptop as DV input.
Of course the Firewire setup on the laptop is Windows Network orientated, with no other choices, I also recognise that the firewire on the PVR is designed to accept input from a DV Camcorder.
I did find a programme called "Video2DV" which sounds interesting, has anybody else here used it? If so, conclusions please.
As you can guess, I am rather at a loss as to where to go next, but from reading some of the posts on this Forum I expect some knowlegable person will have an answer to my problem, I Hope!!

Even if you don't have an answer, thank you for reading this missive,

Best Regards to all :)
