!!! URGENT !!!

I need HELP !!!

I am a new owner of a VP30 and after I had upgraded the deinterlacing card, I was trying to install the new software. Unfortunately while I was installing, my computer got an error and froze. Thus the install process was incomplete. Afterwards the VP30 display said "Serious error 3. Contact your dealer". Again and again, I switched it off and took power on. But still it shows "Serious Error 3". The reset with pressing Menu & Exit buttons also lead to this error message.

Before I was working on installing the deinterlacing card, the VP30 was working right. Now it is not running anymore. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem???

I would be happy about every response....

Try the reset you did again (menu&Exit) after you plug in the power, hold them until you get load abt file. Your computer with Tera Term active should be connected

and if you have the ABT102 in place, leave it disconnected until you get the firmware back up again.

My name is Albert!
I have an Iscan VP50 and I read your thread with your Iscan VP30-Error message-Problem.
I am from Austria an got an Iscan VP50 from USA - with the same error-message: My VP50 display said "Serious error 3. Contact your dealer". Again and again, I switched it off and took power on. But still it shows "Serious Error 3". The reset with pressing Menu & Exit buttons also lead to this error message.

Please help me! I don´t know what to do!
Thank you very much!!!
Greetings from Austria
Albert

Just for your information:

It wasn't passible to repair the VP30. They had to replace the complete mainboard. I was waiting for about 6 weeks for my VP30. The German distributor is a lazy butthead... 6 weeks - still angry because of this crap!

I had a similar problem with my VP50 sometime back. Each time the update would proceed normally to a specific point and then crap out. After a few attempts, I removed the SDI card I had inside and then it went through fine. After the update I put the SDI card back in.

Edit:

I had the same problem again yesterday when updating my firmware. However it didn't say "Serious Error 3", but rather "Serious Error 5".

Not quite sure why this happened again and at exactly the same point as before (after transferring 985767 bytes)! I unplugged the unit, did a hard reset (Menu+Exit buttons while plugging in), re-downloaded the abt file (seemed to be the same, but who knows), unplugged all inputs and outputs to and from the VP50 and tried again. This time it went through fine (slowed down a bit at the same point, but moved on after a couple of gut wrenching seconds) ...

Any ideas?

Thank you very very much for the quick answers, - really great service here!!!
I pressed the menu button only on my Iscan VP50 when plugging in the cable.
Then Tera Term: I pressed the letter “h” as this is to do a software update in the prompt.
I uploaded the Firmware Version 1.00, 1.03 and the new 1.04, but after uploading prozess there was still the same error message "Serious error 3. Contact your dealer".
What does 3 stands for?
I have also tried now all the tests with the Tera Term (see below), - all tests were o.k. but the one test "J" (FPGA configuration) was FAILURE !!!
- (the "f"-Test (FPGA-ROM Test) was o.k.) !!!
I also noticed that the status LED (lamp) on the front panel of my VP50 never glows!
Anybody has an idea?
What is the FPGA ?

Here are the tests results of Tera Term:
