Wow, no one posted a follow up?
Ok, well late, but here:
It runs on a Sigma Design 8621L. Sigma Design chips are found in all kinds of video equipment. The MG35, DVD players... I think the software is by Syabas. The hardware and basic software are impressive. But the user interface is lacking. To the point where you probably wouldn't use this box to play music (only plays 1 song at a time??? anyone know different?). There is an internal connector for a mini PCI (?) wireless card which is an option. There is also in internal "target" (no connector) for an IDE drive. It works if you want to connect it. But so far a HDD doesn't look much different then if it were hooked up using one of the existing USB ports. Oh, the box has 2 USB ports. But the chip used is capable of 4. No idea if the other 2 are supported if hooked up. There is also an ethernet port and optical SPDIF port. Finally there is a custom (depends on the cable you plug in) port that contains s-video, composit and component. I have only used the composit and s-video on NTSC sets. It looks fine. I don't know how well this box looks on HDTV sets. Playback of NTSC and ATSC recorded programs work fine on an NTSC set. This box will work with UPNP servers. So open source applications like MythTV work with this box. Commercial software like twonkyvision (spelling?) probably work with it as well. Muti channel audio is delivered as expected to the SPDIF port.
