I went to see Crank last night. It was very violent even more than I expected. Overall a entertaining movie. The true star here is Amy Smart. She looks incrddible. She is dressed very sexy in the movie and theres a somewhat graphic scene. Shes worth the price of the ticket if you ask me. J.H.

Wasn't this movie already made with Jason Statham...? You know he is injected with a poison and will die if he does not get the antidote....yes...it was called Transporter 2. That Kate Nauta was so hot in that movie.

Did we see the same movie? Sure, she was hot, but her role was very minor. Jason was the true star of the movie. Based on the previews this may sound similar to Transporter 2, but the plots are completely different. He showed great range and really projected someone who was steadily being driven insane over the course of the movie.

When the movie started, I was afraid it was going to be like Bourne Supremacy which made me almost nauseous with the endless fast cuts and handheld camera work. But this movie never had that effect on me.

This movie was refreshing different from what I was expecting. I give it a strong thumbs up.

She did have a minor part but it was such a good part. This movie is completely different than the Transporter 2. Not even close to the same movie. This movie was very violent in a bloody way.Transporter 2 was bl;oody at all. Plus Jason Statham is not a real good guy in this as he was in the Transporter movies. Just my take on that . J.H.

Saw this last night. If your looking for a story forget about it. It's straight up action w/ a bit of an explanation in the beginning. A thumbs up for me. If you guys liked this; check out "The Protector" w/ Tony Jaa. It's out this month and District B13 on DVD this Tuesday. Both mindless w/ great action sequences, also.

Jason Statham is cool on screen. I like him. In this film he's good, but the film itself is really just one big long ZAP LETS GO NUTS kind of deal in the MTV style "young people" love today. I kind of enjoyed it, but it gave me a headache.

Probably a rental for most.

By the way, this thing is truly R rated. That made it bareable. Had it been PG-13 it would have had nothing to offer.

Nothing special. Don't even know who she is prior to seeing this film.

Didn’t you see The Butterfly Effect? She was prominent in that. She is a real cutie, but TBE did bring out how poor her complexion is.

TBE = The Butterfly Effect (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289879/). Very good movie if you haven’t seen it. Critics hated it, but the public liked it.

Critics hated it, but the public liked it.Yeah I saw it and it was interesting and intense but I am just Ashton Kutchered out! He is way over exposed and getting just a little annoying. He has a new movie with Kevin Costner about the US Cost Guard and it looks good except Ashton turns me off now. The movie looks good though so maybe i will see it anyway plus I like Kevin Costner. I have to give Crank a thumbs up for not going with a safe ending.
And I just rented District B13. Enjoyable, mindless fun.

I love Jason Statham, but I was a bit embarassed for him in this movie -- repeatedly having to flash his ass in the hospital gown and having a public sex scene. The movie was like a live action cartoon on speed.

I found Amy Smart's character rather annoying. I'm not a guy, so I don't care how she looked. ;)

After having endured the trailer for The Butterfly Effect a thousand times over three months, there was no way i was going to pay to see that movie. NO WAY!!!

I didn't know who she was either.
Looks like she was also Carmen Electra's friend in Starsky & Hutch:

This movie could've been something else, but the overstylization (word?) killed it for me. It was worse than a Tony Scott movie.

Usually if I can tell if a movie will suck (for me) within the first few minutes. This was definitely an uh-oh at first but it took off about a third way through and ended up being an absolutely entertaining flick. Partly as other have said because it didn't play it safe at ALL.

Amy Smart was adorable in Crank. I completely agree with the OP!
Jason was good too, very cool, and he can carry a movie.

But Amy Smart was about as sweet as any girl ever filmed. When Jason did something wrong, she would just roll her eyes, and then go back to being her lovable self. I had a girlfriend like that once ... they are hard to find!.

Mindless popcorn movie, but very well executed, carried by 2 very cool actors.
Very R rated ...

This is definitely a movie where you love it or hate it. I admit it very stylized and over the top but I enjoyed the ride.

I dont think you guys discovered the motivations of Jason, before you tuned it out. You think its a stylized drug movie, but its far from it.

This was "Kill Bill" with a big dose of innocence. Even the bad guys turned out to have very simple motivations.

I just watched this one over the weekend; cannot recommend it. Amy Smart seemed to think this one was going to be pure slapstick comedy, or even parody, a la ZAZ. I can understand her apparent confusion, since this movie was ridiculous. It also took "over the top" to a new level of madness. Another annoyance was the desparately-hip language.

All I can say is "China Town Scene". Absolutely rediculous. I had high hopes for the movie and outside of a few really bad scenes it wasn't too bad.

Hmmph. You guys just dont realize that theres women out there like this character, and they are awesome. Just look at everything Jason's character is doing to preserve Amy's unjaded world for her.

Yeah, John, he tried to protect her from that big bad world of his. When that failed, he publicly boinked her. Parody?

Crank was hilarious and kick ass. Nobody seemed to have these reality issues with Pulb Fiction as I recall. I thought it was very much in the vein of PF.

I must agree 100% except for one scene. I went along for the ride totally except for the whoopie in front of everyone I believe it was in Chinatown like Joe said.

And the public fornication wasn't even the "potential imitative behavior" that was most troubling in this movie, since I assume most kids know they couldn't get away with that on a sidewalk in broad daylight. (I also assume they know better than to engage in the violent behavior of the hitman and his enemies...) The behavior I'd most worry about kids imitating was the nasal spray snarfing to get an adrenaline rush. I wonder if kids know that would cause them trouble and not give them the rush they might want? It looked harmless enough...

Anyway, the movie was ridiculous. I'll at least give it credit for staying true to itself throughout.

movie was based on the game Grand theft auto, they just didn't want to pay for the licensing. If you've played the game you'll understand the movie. its love it or hate it. I for one loved it.

I loved that scene for totally pushing the envelope. And I didn't believe it was a complete impossibility. I've actually had girlfriends who got off on public high risk sex situations. Nothing quite that blatant, but blatant enought that I could conceive of it happening.

It's been awhile since I watched this one...but I'm with John, the tongue is so far in someone's cheek it's nearly up someone's a**. It's supposed to be over the top fun and it is. Anyone taking it seriously is going to be disappointed. Anyone looking for some fun is going to get off...

Late to the game (on the bottom of my BD Queue :o ).

Holy Crap!
Why didn't someone tell me what a kick-in-the-a$$ this movie is?
Tons of black humor and way over the top silliness (somewhat similar to Smokin' Aces).
I had to hit the PAUSE button several times just to keep my laughing under control.
This movie is ALL about going above and beyond...with the perfect NON-Hollywood ending to boot.

If anyone didn't realize this was done with a huge tongue in cheek, then they are completely missing it...

^One of the problems in the marketing of this film is how the studio stupidly misrepresented what this movie really is: a send-up of the popular "shoot 'em up" genre of movies.
As the movie goes on, it becomes quite clear what the director is trying to do....you gotta stay with it, however, or it is easy to miss.

Plus I thought there was some chemistry... nothing award winning, but enough to make the basic story premise emotionally interesting.

Watched this last night because I was bored out of my mind and also because it was playing on a hi-def channel.
All I can say is wow:eek:, I cant believe how bad this movie was. I kept sitting there thinking that somehow it was going to get better. It didnt. If anything it got worse as it went along. This coming from someone who really tries to find something good about most anything I watch.
This easily ranks up there with the worst movies I have seen.
Do your self a favor if you havent seen this one-dont rent it, dont buy it, dont even watch it if its the only thing on.
End of rant...........;)
