I've searched an did not find much on this type music. Does anyone know of any Techno/Electronic type disks in the surround format SACD/DVD? It would seem to me, to be fairly easy to create multi channels, with it all being computer based.
Thanks
Eric

The best one I have heard is Planet Earth on DTS 6.1EX LTJ BUkem. I heard and liked Kraftwerk but have yet to buy it (I have many sacds still to purchase so it will have to wait) Planet Earth is a more relaxed sound with some acid jazz and trance in the mix instead of the usual hardcore techno but still groovy nontheless. For reference I am a bit of old school having taken part of the House San Diego/LA scene during the 90's with the likes of Dj Marques Wyatt, and my favorites Dj Dan, Dj Mark E Quark and Dj Mark Lewis. As I get older I tire of the hardcore stuff but when I played this one it was the best compilation I have heard in a long time and I hope to run into more like these - This aint no chi chi ra ra techno crap I hear alot of these days.

I believe Amazon has this to sample via windows media player but headphones and lossy codecs butcher the experience in DTS. It is definitely in my top ten favorite multichannel music cds.

Other recommendations (some outside the Techno genre, but electronic nonetheless)...
BT - This Binary Universe (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7242631&style=music&cart=372118379&BAB=M&frm=lk_allspin)
Bjork - Vespertine (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=2023698&style=music&cart=320462816&BAB=E&frm=lk_allspin) (DVD-A still available at some outlets, there's also the Bjork Box (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7052583&BAB=E&frm=lk_allspin))
And if you can still find it, Cell 5: Correctional Facilities (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6444093&style=music&cart=320462816&BAB=M&frm=lk_allspin) is fantastic, bombastic electronica in 5.1

Goldfrapp is quite good if you like the techno club sound with nice synth use.

I have the Crystal Method, Legion of Boom, DVD-A and it's pretty solid. The first few songs are great for cranking it up in surround. I'll have to try some of the other ones out mentioned here.

Could you post a link to this one? I tried to find it on Amazon without success. Just found the Planet Earth series. Is that it?

PS I have Kraftwerk Minimum Maximum, and it is one of the best music surround mixes I've heard. Great stuff.

Though I am not a fan of surround music, I heartily second the recommendations for Goldfrapp. I absolutely love her stuff. (She is also one of the sexiest women on the planet. :D )
Others to look for include Massive Attack and Future Sound of London.

For olddd electronica, Scary, I mean Gary Numan has a greatest hits disc. Never bought it because "Change Your Mind" is not on it.

Hey! I was around when his first album came out (yes, album not CD.) I don't think I like what you are implying here. :D

I can't believe no one mentioned the Depeche Mode SACDs:

101
Violator
Speak & Spell
Music for the Massess

and coming in October:

A Broken Frame
Some Great Reward
Songs of Faith & Devotion

http://remasters.depechemode.com

I also highly recommend both Björk SACDs (also on DVD-A) Vespertine and Medulla as well as the Goldfrapp - Supernature SACD and the Moloko - Statues SACD.

There's also the Propaganda - A Secret Wish SACD.

One I didn't see listed here is Groove Armada - Vertigo on SACD. Its a pretty solid mulit-channel mix.

Thanks for the tips on Cornelius and BT. I like the artists, but didn't know of the releases...

Unfortunately, my contributions are just DVDs in 5.1 and not DVD-A or SACD but still worth having...

Meat Beat Manifesto - In Dub 5.1 (http://www.amazon.com/Meat-Beat-Manifesto-Dub-Surround/dp/B000127ZEQ/sr=8-13/qid=1172198673/ref=sr_1_13/002-8004998-1408013?ie=UTF8&s=dvd) The DVD is actually cheaper than the CD version!
Speed Tribe - Music by members of Front 242 (http://www.amazon.com/Speed-Tribe-Frank-Biela/dp/B0000687CE) Pretty cool with nice Le Mans racing footage to boot!

Jean-Michel Jarre's "Aero" is in DTS (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6787067&BAB=M&frm=lk_allspin), and the mixes are head-spinning and worth checking out.

Anything else than the crystal method legion of boom in the techno/transe multichannel genre ?

I have been looking all around for the Paul Van Dyk Reflections SACD, but could't find it anywhere.

TIA,

Thank you for recommending the Cornelius - 5.1!! I know it's DVD and not DVD-A, but the DTS sounds really good and the video is fun too. One of my favorites now!

Glad you like the Cornelius disk - yeah it's a lot of fun. It's a good disk with which to get people interested in surround music. And the price is not bad :-)

I find the Legion of Boom DVD-Audio lacking in bass. The DTS on the same disc sounds much better to my ears. Anyone else agree?

I am a huge electronica/house/trance fan. I'm not sure in what genre I would put "This Binary Universe," but the DTS 5.1 track is simply unreal.

I suggest PVD's "Global" for some traditional trance, and Underworld's DVD, "Everything Everything" has a great DD5.1 mix.
